  I am coding in php, attempting to get the start\end dates and times for events. The dates are straight forward, however how do I interpret the time part? This event starts at one and ends at four.

  Subject says it all. I want to modify the POCO generation adapter (http://code.msdn.microsoft.com/EFPocoAdapter) to generate my own code. I have the .tt adapters done, but I want to be able to distribute this to coworkers, so they right-click on the model, choose "Generate Code", and my t4 templates appear in the options along with the other choices. Is there an easy way to do this? I found some articles at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/tsyyf0yh(VS.80).aspx but it was focused on generic templates, and I'm looking for specifically model templates.

• Opening Visual Studio created XAML in Expression Blend

  I have created a console application using Visual Studio 2008. In a few cases, this application shows a WPF dialog. Now, the design view of Visual Studio is a little limited, so I'd like to edit this dialog using Expression Blend 3. Blend does not seem to have an option to load individual XAML files, and when I open my solution in Blend, only the XAML code is displayed when I try to edit the dialog. Edit: I've noticed, that no IntelliSense is available in the text view either. When I create a new WPF Project inside Blend, and copy my dialog there (overwriten MainWindows.xaml), I get a design view. What do I have to do to actually get a design view here? • Properly Establishing an ApplicationEndpoint in UCMA 3.0

  I've been struggling with getting an application endpoint working on UCMA 3.0. I am trying to run an application on a server separate from the Lync server which uses a registered ApplicationEndpoint to monitor presence and act as a bot which can send other users messages. I used to have my code working with a UserEndpoint (which was fine for monitoring presence), but did not have the capabilities to send IMs to other Lync users. • web.config transforms not being applied on either publish or build installation package

  Today I started playing with the web.config transforms in VS 2010. To begin with, I attempted the same hello world example that features in a lot of the blog posts on this topic - updating a connection string. I created the minimal example shown below (and similar to the one found in this blog). The problem is that whenever I do a right-click - "Publish", or a right-click - "Build Deployment Package" on the .csproj file, I'm not getting the correct output. Rather than a transformed web.config, I'm getting no web.config, and instead the two transform files are included. What am I doing wrong? Any help gratefully received!   Hi, Here is a question about IMFActivate::ActivateObject and IMFActivate::ShutdownObject in Media Foundation. According to MSDN, the component that calls ActivateObject is responsible for calling ShutdownObject. But there are two examples not following this rule: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd388503%28VS.85%29.aspx and http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd317912%28VS.85%29.aspx In these two examples, they call ActivateObject and then release IMFActivate interface without calling ShutdownObject method. This is going to lead to memory leaking, right? Or there is another way to release the resource occupied by the object? (Can I use IMFMediaSource::Shutdown to release the object instead of using IMFActivate::ShutdownObject) Thanks in advance.

  I am having a WPF desktop application that uses SQL CE (compact edition 3.5 ) and using the Entity Framework as a Datalayer. As It turned out in (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;958478&sd=rss&spid=2855 ) and (http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sqlce/thread/b6bac277-cf66-4c74-a0b3-e48abedbd161/ ) There Is some problem with the Entity Framework and SQL CE and I had to get the hotfix (basically a new build of the SQL CE called 3.5.1) My problem now is how to build a setup package in order to make it work in case some users already had the SQL CE 3.5 installed on their machines? I have included the DLLs directly in the application but when the sql ce is installed, its DLLs are in the GAC and have precedence over the local ones and the application crashes. I need the build a setup that would work "even if" the user already had the old buggy version.

• Can I connect to SQL Server using Windows Authentication from Java EE webapp?

  I am currently investigating how to make a connection to a SQL Server database from my Java EE web application using Windows Authentication instead of SQL Server authentication. I am running this app off of Tomcat 6.0, and am utilizing the Microsoft JDBC driver. My connection properties file looks as follows: dbDriver = com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver dbUser = user dbPass = password dbServer = localhost:1433;databaseName=testDb dbUrl = jdbc:sqlserver://localhost:1433 I have zero problems with connecting to a SQL Server database in this fashion when using SQL Server authentication. Is there any way I can retrieve the credentials of the user's Windows Authentication and use that authentication for SQL Server? UPDATE: I know in ASP.net there is a way to set up Windows Authentication for access to the webapp, which is exactly what I am looking for, except I want to pass that token off to SQL Server for access to the database.

  Hi, I have recently installed SQL Server 2008 Express Edition with Advanced Services on XP Pro but am having trouble getting full text searching to work with an restored database. The database was originally created in SQL Server 2005. When I call a stored proc that uses the full text index then I get the following error: Full-Text Search is not installed, or a full-text component cannot be loaded. This is my db version: Microsoft SQL Server 2008 (RTM) - 10.0.1600.22 (Intel X86) Jul 9 2008 14:43:34 Copyright (c) 1988-2008 Microsoft Corporation Express Edition with Advanced Services on Windows NT 5.1 (Build 2600: Service Pack 3) When I run: SELECT DATABASEPROPERTY('DBNAME','ISFULLTEXTENABLED') I get: 1 Also, when I look in the advanced properties for the db server in Management Studio I see both the "Default Full-Text Language" and "Full-Text Upgrade Option" properties. However, when I go to SQL Server Configuration Manager I don't see the "MSSQLFDLauncher" service. Does anyone know how to get this working? Cheers, Iain

• .Net installation issue with SqlServerPipelineHost and SqlServer.DtsMsg

  I added a web service consumer to a vb 2005 Windows app and tried to install it on another computer, which had an earlier version already installed (ClickOnce deployment). An error came up saying I needed to install Microsoft.SqlServer.PipelineHist in the GAC. I added PipelineHost to the list of references and marked it Copy Local = true, rebuilt the solution, published it and tried to install it on that other computer. This time it said I needed to install Microsoft.SqlServer.DtsMsg, however, that component does not show up on my list of .Net components. Where do I go from here? Thank you.

  I'm looking for a way to allow potential customers to try my application before they buy it. The product is a windows forms application that requires an SQL Server database to operate. Although I have a functional demo that the customer can install on their network, I want to make it easier for them by have them "play" with it at my environment. I remember Microsoft had (has?) something similar. I was testing Visual Studio a few years ago in a virtual environment where I was connecting to a server at Microsoft. Any suggestions? Thanks.

• Searching Outlook Global Adress List

  I'm pulling up the Global Address List from Outlook like so... Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook.Application oApp = new Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook.Application(); AddressList gal = oApp.Session.GetGlobalAddressList(); ...with the aim of eventually being able to search through this in my own application to retrieve contact information which I can then supply to a method that squirrels off an email. Unfortunately given that my own GAL has about 20K entries in (the customers much more) using a foreach or something simply doesn't work in an acceptable timeframe. I want to pass a string like "Tom" to a method and have it return a list of possible contacts. Is this possible outside of actually opening up Outlook and creating the mail there? Note: There are a couple of other questions similar to this but most seem to have no good answer. I'm hoping I have more luck.

  I am trying to use the code from Microsoft for an Async Socket connection. It appears the listener runs in the main thread locking the GUI. I am new at both socket connections and multi-threading all at the same time. Having a hard time getting my mind wrapped around this all at once. • Drupal on IIS - Cannot connect to the database

  hi, I've hard time to make Drupal work on IIS Microsoft server. I've succesfully run Joomla on the same server so I'm pretty sure the following information are correct: host: localhost user: user pass: pass databaseName = servername_databasename I've set the following line in settings.php file: $db_url = 'mysql://user:password@localhost/servername_databasename'; but what I get is this: If you are the maintainer of this site, please check your database settings in the settings.php file and ensure that your hosting provider's database server is running. For more help, see the handbook, or contact your hosting provider. I don't get any other error message such as: database doesn't exist, user/pass wrong.. just this. The database is running, I can access with phpmyadmin. I've tried both "mysql" and "mysqli". The host is a private server (IIS Microsoft), the database is Mysql The database and website files upload have also been succesfull.. so I dunno what to do to fix this issue. thanks

  I just installed VS2010 and the great new IronPython Tools extension. Currently this extension doesn't yet generate event handlers in code upon double-clicking wpf visual controls. Is there anyone that can provide or point me to an example as to how to code wpf event handlers manually in python. I've had no luck finding any and I am new to visual studio.   Hi, On my MOSS site I am trying to save a publishing site as a site template. Then create subsites from this template. I am able to sucessfully create the site template and it is populated in the site template gallery.
