• How can I use the Spark library in my ActionScript project?

  I'm using Flare to develop a visualization. Being familiar to Java, Javascript and Eclipse it wasn't a big deal to familiarize myself to developing with Actionscript and Adobe FlashBuilder. I actually found that the learning curve is very flat. However, being new to Actionscript, I can't figure out how to use the Spark libraries that are part of Flex. I tried to add the libraries to the build path, with no success. I guess I'm confused about how Flash, Flex, Actionscript, Spark and Flare work together, even after reading the helpful answers on this question Does anybody know which part of the puzzle I'm missing? • [macosx]does dlopen call open and read functions?

  Hello, I've intercepted(interposed) dlopen function under MacOS X and some other functions. I see how my applications calls dlopen in the log, but don't find anything related to open/read functions after dynamic library was dlopened. How does the system accesses and reads the dynamic library file? I've looked at the source code of dyld, and it does call open/read on dlopen. Can anybody let me know what I'm missing? intercepted functions: dlopen, open, read, write, access, all stat functions, close, etc. thanks, any help is highly appreciated.

• How to find date ranges in records with consecutive dates and duplicate data

  There's probably any easy solution for this, but I can't see it. I have a table with consecutive dates and often duplicate associated data for several of these consecutive dates: Date Col1 Col2 5/13/2010 1 A 5/14/2010 1 A 5/15/2010 2 B 5/16/2010 1 A 5/17/2010 1 A 5/18/2010 3 C 5/19/2010 3 C 5/20/2010 3 C Using MS T-SQL, I wish to find the start and end dates for each run of distinct Col1 and Col2 values: StartDate EndDate Col1 Col2 5/13/2010 5/14/2010 1 A 5/15/2010 5/15/2010 2 B 5/16/2010 5/17/2010 1 A 5/18/2010 5/20/2010 3 C Assumptions: There are never any missing dates. • Tridion Core Service - Transaction roll back isnt working

  We are using the core service in ASP.NET custom page in order to create pages and components and sevenral updates (checkout,save and chekin). we want those operations to work in transaction, we tried to implement it acording to some examples over the net. However we didn't succeded operating the rollback. It seems that the operation are immediately performed without waiting for the comit . • What's the best way to access Neo4j from Django?

  it seems that i found something that let me confused; i've found two Neo4j to download to python, the first one is: http://pypi.python.org/pypi/neo4j-embedded and the second one is: https://svn.neo4j.org/components/neo4j.py/trunk/ what's the difference between the two? the first one seems to be big (size), so does this mean that if i use it i'll not need the neo4j community release (milestone)? when i've installed the first one, and tried to test a django example, it seems that the directory named "model" https://svn.neo4j.org/components/neo4j.py/trunk/src/main/python/neo4j/model/ is missing? so what's the difference, and who will be better to use with Django? and what about that one? http://pypi.python.org/pypi/neo4django/

• Printing the address of a struct object

  I have a struct like this typedef struct _somestruct { int a; int b; }SOMESTRUCT,*LPSOMESTRUCT; I am creating an object for the struct and trying to print it's address like this int main() { LPSOMESTRUCT val = (LPSOMESTRUCT)malloc(sizeof(SOMESTRUCT)); printf("0%x\n", val); return 0; } ..and I get this warning warning C4313: 'printf' : '%x' in format string conflicts with argument 1 of type 'LPSOMESTRUCT' So, I tried to cast the address to int like this printf("0%x\n", static_cast<int>(val)); But I get this error: error C2440: 'static_cast' : cannot convert from 'LPSOMESTRUCT' to 'int' What am I missing here? How to avoid this warning? Thanks.

• Creating a unique id for a Core Data program on the iPhone

  I am fairly new at programming in Objective-C, having been a windows programmer since I was a kid. I am falling in LOVE with it. I am, however, having a bit of trouble figuring out this Core Data stuff. How do I create a new entry with a unique ID? In SQL I would just declare one field as an autoincrement field. I'm not seeing anything like that here, but I could just be missing something. I just want an auto incrementing NSInteger field, so when I manually add items to the database, I will have some form of reference to them.

• Binding to an ObservableCollection of UserControls

  Simple Silverlight question: I have an ObservableCollection<MyObject> in my viewmodel. Every MyObject has a Label property. If I bind a ListBox to the collection and set DisplayMemberPath to Label, or set the ItemTemplate to a TextBlock that binds the Text property to Label, all works as expected. If I change MyObject so it derives from a UserControl, the Label text no longer shows up in the ListBox; each item just shows up as a blank strip a few pixels tall. Why is this? There's obviously something I'm missing here about how different things get rendered.

• How can I make a core-plot graph on the phone that doesn't auto-expand to fill the whole superview

  I'm pretty sure I saw an example where the graph wasn't filling the whole iPhone screen, but I can't get that to happen in my app, nor in the Core-Plot Test app from Switch On The Code. I've added a subview to the original CPLayerHostingView in the sample, then changed the classes – original back to UIView, new subview to CPLayerHostingView, and I've reconnected the File's owner's view outlet to the new subview. When I create a graph with: graph = [[CPXYGraph alloc] initWithFrame: theSubviewOutlet.bounds]; … and step through the first stages of building up the layers the bounds are accurate (i.e. the same as in the .xib) however, when all the initialization is done, and the graph shows up, it fills the whole superview. Am I missing something obvious?

• Is it safe to display user input as input values without sanitation?

  Say we have a form where the user types in various info. We validate the info, and find that something is wrong. A field is missing, invalid email, et cetera. When displaying the form to the user again I of course don't want him to have to type in everything again so I want to populate the input fields. Is it safe to do this without sanitation? If not, what is the minimum sanitation that should be done first? And to clearify: It would of course be sanitized before being for example added to a database or displayed elsewhere on the site.

• Unstyled web page in IE6. Not FOUC

  I have a very interesting issue with one of the websites I created. It renders fine in Safari, Chrome, Opera, FF, IE7&8 but IE6 does not seem to recognize my stylesheet. I'm not using @import for loading, so it's not a case a FOUC. The website is using Wordpress but never had an issue like this before with WP. • My Linq to Sql Insert code seems to work fine but I don't get a record in the database

• How to exclude results with get_object_or_404?

  In Django you can use the exclude to create SQL similar to not equal. An example could be. Model.objects.exclude(status='deleted') Now this works great and exclude is very flexible. Since I'm a bit lazy, I would like to get that functionality when using get_object_or_404, but I haven't found a way to do this, since you cannot use exclude on get_object_or_404. What I want is to do something like this: model = get_object_or_404(pk=id, status__exclude='deleted') But unfortunately this doesn't work as there isn't an exclude query filter or similar. The best I've come up with so far is doing something like this: object = get_object_or_404(pk=id) if object.status == 'deleted': return HttpResponseNotfound('text') Doing something like that, really defeats the point of using get_object_or_404, since it no longer is a handy one-liner. Alternatively I could do: object = get_object_or_404(pk=id, status__in=['list', 'of', 'items']) But that wouldn't be very maintainable, as I would need to keep the list up to date. I'm wondering if I'm missing some trick or feature in django to use get_object_or_404 to get the desired result?

But if I want to list all publications in which a person is involved Person.first.publications, an error about a missing join table people_publications it thrown. How could I fix that? Should I maybe switch to separate models for authors and editors? It would however introduce some redundancy to the database, since a person can be an author of one publication and an editor of another.

• A 'do' statement at the end of my perl script never runs

  In my main script, I am doing some archive manipulation. Once I have completed that, I want to run a separate script to upload my archives to and FTP server. Separately, these scripts work well. I want to add the FTP script to the end of my archive script so I only need to worry about scheduling one script to run and I want to guarantee that the first script completes it work before the FTP script is called. After looking at all the different methods to call my FTP script, I settled on 'do', however, when my do statement is at the end of the script, it never runs. When I place it in my main foreach loop, it runs fine, but it runs multiple times which I want to avoid since the FTP script can handle having multiple archives to upload. Is there something I am missing? Why does it not run? Thanks

• How to compute a unicode string which bidirectional representation is specified?

  Hello, fellows. I have a rather pervert question. Please forgive me :) There's an official algorithm that describes how bidirectional unicode text should be presented. http://www.unicode.org/reports/tr9/tr9-15.html I receive a string (from some 3rd-party source), which contains latin/hebrew characters, as well as digits, white-spaces, punctuation symbols and etc. The problem is that the string that I receive is already in the representation form. I.e. - the sequence of characters that I receive should just be presented from left to right. Now, my goal is to find the unicode string which representation is exactly the same. Means - I need to pass that string to another entity; it would then render this string according to the official algorithm, and the result should be the same. Assuming the following: The default text direction (of the rendering entity) is RTL. I don't want to inject "special unicode characters" that explicitly override the text direction (such as RLO, RLE, etc.) I suspect there may exist several solutions. If so - I'd like to preserve the RTL-looking of the string as much as possible. The string usually consists of hebrew words mostly. I'd like to preserve the correct order of those words, and characters inside those words. Whereas other character sequences may (and should) be transposed. One naive way to solve this is just to swap the whole string (this takes care of the hebrew words), and then swap inside it sequences of non-hebrew characters. This however doesn't always produce correct results, because actual rules of representation are rather complex. The only comprehensive algorithm that I see so far is brute-force check. The string can be divided into sequences of same-class characters. Those sequences may be joined in random order, plus any of them may be reversed. I can check all those combinations to obtain the correct result. Plus this technique may be optimized. For instance the order of hebrew words is known, so we only have to check different combinations of their "joining" sequences. Any better ideas? If you have an idea, not necessarily the whole solution - it's ok. I'll appreciate any idea. Thanks in advance.

• Checking if parsed date is within a date range

  So I am using a scripting language with c++-like syntax, and I am trying to think of the best way to check if a date is within range. The problem I am running into is that if the current day is in a new month, the check is failing. Here is what my code looks like: if(iMonth >= iStartMonth && iMonth <= iEndMonth) { if(iDay >= iStartDay && iDay <= iEndDay) { if(iYear >= iStartYear && iYear <= iEndYear) { bEnabled = true; return; When I have something like this: Start date: 3 27 2010 End Date: 4 15 2010 Current Date: 3 31 2010 The day check fails because if (iDay <= iEndDay) does not pass. The scripting language doesn't have a lot of time related functions, and I can't compare timestamps because I'm allowing users to put like "03:27:2010" and "04:15:2010" as start/end dates in a config file. I'm assuming I am just not thinking straight and missing an easy fix.

• Getting a PasteScript error when I try to serve an existing Pylons app.

  I'm trying to serve an existing Python 2.5 Pylons application on OS X Snow Leopard. I've already installed Python 2.5 and set it as the default Python installation, installed paster, and installed the version of Pylons the app needs (0.9.6.1) as well as other eggs... but when I cd to the main folder and do "paster serve development.ini" I get the following: File "/usr/local/bin/paster", line 5, in <module> from pkg_resources import load_entry_point File "/System/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.5/Extras/lib/python/pkg_resources.py", line 2603, in <module> File "/System/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.5/Extras/lib/python/pkg_resources.py", line 666, in require File "/System/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.5/Extras/lib/python/pkg_resources.py", line 565, in resolve pkg_resources.DistributionNotFound: PasteScript==1.7.3 I definitely have done "easy_install PasteScript==1.7.3" and I still get this error. • Dashcode Web App: How to programmatically manipulate bound array in dataSource?

  Hi Everyone, I've started using Dashcode to write an interface for presenting the report data for some of our Cocoa tools. I am using a Dashcode data source and bindings to populate the elements in the WebView, and it all seems to be working well so far. One of the objects in my dataSource is an array of objects that I would like to manipulate programmatically. I can change the object values in the array just fine but if I want to replace the array, or any objects in the array, my bound table isn't able to observe the added objects. Here is the code that I thought would let me easily replace the bound array with new content: var dataSource = dashcode.getDataSource("reportData"); var newDetailArray = testArray(); dataSource.setValueForKeyPath(newDetailArray, "content.detailArray"); But this throws the exception: Exception while binding "content" to keypath "arrangedObjects " TypeError: Result of expression 'this.object.valueForKeyPath' [undefined] is not a function. Is there something I'm missing that will let me easily manipulate the array's contents programmatically?

BUT, only the first CREATE TABLE statement is executed. I get no syntax errors. Erm, am I missing the MSSQL equivalent of GO ? What am I doing wrong here; how do I get this baby to run all the tables?

• iPhone - Image overlay MapKit framework?

  I can see with iOS4 you can now tile an image on google maps (Been looking at the TileMap example from apple). This is great as this is what I want to do, but from what I can see I need to know the GEO reference of the image so I can raster the images with the appropriate zoom levels, etc. What I have is an artist image, which is a map of a specific area and I want to overlay this image on google maps. Am I missing something here, but can this be done with a none standard map and having different zoom levels? The main reason why I need to use google maps is because of the GPS functionality, so the user will know where they currently are on the map.

• Google map blank when used with master page

  I wrote a google map lookup page. Everthing worked fine until I referenced the page to use a master page. I removed the form tag from the master page as the search button on the map page is a submit button. Everything else on my page appears but the google map div appears with map navigation controls and logo but no map visuals appear. I retested with the previous, non master page version and the map appears correctly. Any thoughts on what I'm missing?
