• WinForms (C#) Databinding Object to Checkbox.Checked Property

  Hello, I'm writing a WinForms app, and am trying to bind a boolean property on a .NET object to a Checkbox's "checked" property. I am successfully creating the binding, but when I change the source property's value from false to true (I have a button that toggles it), the checkbox's "checked" property does not reflect that change. if (chkPreRun.DataBindings["Checked"] == null) { Debug.WriteLine("Adding chkPreRun databinding"); Binding _binding = chkPreRun.DataBindings.Add("Checked", NwmConfig, "PreRun") // Added this just to ensure that these were being set properly _binding.DataSourceUpdateMode = DataSourceUpdateMode.OnPropertyChanged; _binding.ControlUpdateMode = ControlUpdateMode.OnPropertyChanged; } I am able to successfully bind the text property to the value of a TextBox, for example.   I have two combo boxes that are cascading. I would like to have it so that when I select something in ComboBox1, it will fire off a web method that automatically filters the list in ComboBox2. At the moment, I'm adding the value of ComboBox1 to the context key of the ComboBox2 web service when I'm firing it, however, I've noticed that this web service only fires when I modify the value in ComboBox2, not when I click the showList button. Is it possible to call and dynamically change the list of ComboBox2 when I change ComboBox1, or is it possible in RadComboBox to request a callback to the server for any of the client events such as opening up the list?

• Acrobat Reader ActiveX in WebBrowser stealing focus [C#]

  I'm using webBrowser.Navigate(url) control to display page. I noticed this action steals focus from current control (grid) and than I have problem to focus grid back (tired myGrid.Focus, .Select etc...) This is really annoying behaviour of browser... Does anyone knows how to prevent focus stealing by Browser or (if not) hot to force to focus control back ? EDIT: I've also tried webBrowser.DocumentCompleted event to focus back to grid EDIT 2 Good case to test this is openning PDF files webBrowser.Navigate(@"C:\TEMP\test.pdf") I believe this is ActiveX issue. On first glance it looks that this is not problem with focusing control but loosing entire Form focus... EDIT 3 I tried another approach: Form keyPress event: I thought I can capture form's keyPress and move focus from WebBrowser / AdobeReader ActiveX to my control. But surprisingly event is not fired! Looks Reader taken all control and there is no way to do anything programically until you do mouse click on (at least) form's caption Any advice (s) ?

• Google Chrome: XMLHttpRequest.send() not working while doing POST.

  I'm working on an application that allows the user to send a file using a form (a POST request), and that executes a series of GET requests while that file is being uploaded to gather information about the state of the upload. It works fine in IE and Firefox, but not so much in Chrome and Safari. The problem is that even though send() is called on the XMLHttpRequest object, nothing is being requested as can be seen in Fiddler. To be more specific, an event handler is placed on the "submit" event of the form, that places a timeout function call on the window: window.setTimeout(startPolling, 10); and in this function "startPolling" sequence is started that keeps firing GET requests to receive status updates from a web service that returns text/json that can be used to update the UI. Is this a limitation (perhaps security-wise?) on WebKit based browsers? Is this a Chrome bug? (I'm seeing the same behaviour in Safari though).

  I am setting up an existing django project on a dreamhost web server, so far I have got everything to work correctly. However I developed under python 2.5 and dreamhost by default uses python 2.4. The following line seems gives a syntax error because of the if keyword: 'parent': c.parent.pk if c.parent is not None else None ^ Is it the case that this form of if statement was introduced in Python 2.5, if so is there an easy change that would make it compatible with Python 2.4? Or, should I just change to Python 2.5. I have already installed python 2.5 to a directory under my home directory, and have succeeded in running the python interpreter under 2.5. If I wish to use Python 2.5 for everything, where can I set this?

  Using the following JQuery/AJAX function I'm calling a partial view when an option is changed in a combobox named "ReportedIssue" that is also in the partial view. • Visual Studio 2008 - syntax-highlighting and intellisense not working for aspx, js, css

  Hello all, I'm having problems with Visual Studio 2008, namely, syntax-highlighting and intellisense for *.aspx, *.js and *.css files (and maybe more) not working. Also, when I go to Tools - Options... - Text editor - HTML - Format, I see this error message: "An error occurred loading this property page" Everything was working fine before, until recently. The only change that might have possibly triggered this (but I am not 100% sure whether it stopped working at that exact time or some other time) was a change of the display language in my Windows 7 installation. I have already tried running: devenv /Setup devenv /ResetSkipPkgs devenv /ResetSettings ...none of which helped. Also, setting my default system font to Tahoma, which was a suggestion I found somewhere else, did not work for me (it was Tahoma before, since I use the Windows Classic theme). Thank you very much for your suggestions.

  Hi I have been following this tutorial: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee307987(VS.100).aspx#registering_routes_in_account_and_store_areas and have an application (a bit more complex) like this set up. All the areas are working fine, however I have noticed that if I change the project name of the Accounts project to say Areas.Accounts, that it wont find any of my views within the accounts project due to the Area name not being the same as the project name e.g. the accounts routes.cs file still has this: public override string AreaName { get { return "Accounts"; } } Does anyone know why I would have to change it to this: public override string AreaName { // Needs to match the project name? get { return "Areas.Accounts"; } } for my views in the accounts project to work? I would really like the AreaName to still be Accounts, but for ASP.net MVC to look in the "Views\Areas\Areas.Accounts\" folder when its all munged into one project, rather than trying to find it within "View\Areas\Accounts\" Thanks Mark

• Rails Resque workers fail with PGError: server closed the connection unexpectedly

  I have site running rails application and resque workers running in production mode, on Ubuntu 9.10, Rails 2.3.4, ruby-ee 2010.01, PostgreSQL 8.4.2 Workers constantly raised errors: PGError: server closed the connection unexpectedly. My best guess is that master resque process establishes connection to db (e.g. authlogic does that when use User.acts_as_authentic), while loading rails app classes, and that connection becomes corrupted in fork()ed process (on exit?), so next forked children get kind of broken global ActiveRecord::Base.connection I could reproduce very similar behaviour with this sample code imitating fork/processing in resque worker. (AFAIK, users of libpq recommended to recreate connections in forked process anyway, otherwise it's not safe ) But, the odd thing is that when I use pgbouncer or pgpool-II instead of direct pgsql connection, such errors do not appear. So, the question is where and how should I dig to find out why it is broken for plain connection and is working with connection pools? Or reasonable workaround?

  Hi All, Here is my scenario and would love any feedback. We have a WPF XBAP application which gets hosted on our customer's IIS server on which we as a vendor do not have any control over. So as a part of configuration, clients first need to configure the WCF service to point to the proper endpoints. Default location for the service is say "http://localhost/XYZ.svc" which needs to change to proper adderess such as "http://USC.intl.edu/XYZ.svc" (offcourse our service is not called XYZ, just using that name as an example). Problem in our test scenario is as soon as we change these values in the config file (Appname.exe.config) the manifest file becomes invalid and we start getting errors. The solutions that I have looked at talk about mageui.exe. Our clinets may not have this utility. So how can we achieve this without using this utility and have the app be configurable.   Hello everyone, I'm using GROUP_CONCAT() in a MySQL query to convert multiple rows into a single string. However, the maximum length of the result of this function is 1024 characters. I'm very well aware that I can change the param group_concat_max_len to increase this limit: SET SESSION group_concat_max_len = 1000000; However, on the server I'm using, I can't change any param. Not by using the preceding query and not by editing any configuration file. So my question is: Is there any other way to get the output of a multiple row query into a single string? • How to achieve conditional resource import in a Spring XML context?

  What I would like to achieve is the ability to "dynamically" (i.e. based on a property defined in a configuration file) enable/disable the importing of a child Spring XML context. I imagine something like: <import condition="some.property.name" resource="some-context.xml"/> Where the property is resolved (to a boolean) and when true the context is imported, otherwise it isn't. Some of my research so far: Writing a custom NamespaceHandler (and related classes) so I can register my own custom element in my own namespace. For example: <myns:import condition="some.property.name" resource="some-context.xml"/> The problem with this approach is that I do not want to replicate the entire resource importing logic from Spring and it isn't obvious to me what I need to delegate to to do this. Overriding DefaultBeanDefinitionDocumentReader to extend the behaviour of the "import" element parsing and interpretation (which happens there in the importBeanDefinitionResource method). However I'm not sure where I can register this extension.

• WPF ComboBox Binding to non string object

  I'm using MVVM (MVVM Light Toolkit) and have a property on the view model which exposes a list of objects. The objects contain two properties, both strings, which correlate to an abbreviation and a description. I want the ComboBox to expose the pairing as "abbreviation - description". If I use a data template, it does this easily. I have another property on the view model which represents the object that should display as selected -- the chosen item in the ComboBox. I'm binding the ItemsSource to the list, as it represents the universe of available selections, and am trying to bind the SelectedItem to this object. I'm killing myself trying to figure out why I can't get it to work, and feeling more like a fraud by the hour. In trying to learn why this works, I created the same approach with just a list of strings, and a selected string. This works perfectly. So, it clearly has something to do with the typing... perhaps something in choosing equality? Or perhaps it has to do with the data template? • iText - Modifying PDFWriter# Verticle Alignment manually

  Ive hit upon a problem using iText (java), despite hours of looking thru the docs.. Most of the code I use goes via the Document# API which tracks (via the PDFWriter instance) the current Y position. HOWEVER, we need to use the PdfContentByte part of the API to insert some Java2d into the document, but in doing so this appears to bypass the logic which tracks verticle writes. So next time I use the Document API, it overwrites the contents of the manually inserted things. I want to mimick the behaviour of the Document# API by manually moving the cursor on N number of units (N being the height of the element inserted by the PDFContentByte API), such that when I then use the Document object again, bingo, its cursor is in the correct location. I can see that a method to obtain the cursor exists; PdfWriter#getVerticalPosition(boolean); But not one to set it?! Any ideas anyone? Thanks.

  Hello, I am trying to create a simple chat client using the red5 media server, but I seem to be having a slight hiccup. I am creating a shared object on the server side, and it seems to be creating it successfully. However, when I make changes to the object via the client (type a message), the SYNC event fires, but the content within the shared object remains empty. • MVC map to nullable bool in model

  With a view model containing the field: public bool? IsDefault { get; set; } I get an error when trying to map in the view: <%= Html.CheckBoxFor(model => model.IsDefault) %> Cannot implicitly convert type 'bool?' to 'bool'. An explicit conversion exists (are you missing a cast?) I've tried casting, and using .Value and neither worked. Note the behaviour I would like is that submitting the form should set IsDefault in the model to true or false. A value of null simply means that the model has not been populated.

• jQuery autocomplete disabled makes autocomplete partially transparent, not disabled

  I'm using the jQuery UI's "autocomplete" function on a search on my site. When you change a radio button from 'area search" to "name search" I want it to disable the autocomplete, and re-enable it when you switch back. However, when you disable the autocomplete it doesn't hide the dropdown, it just dims it to 20% opacity or so.
