I can't seem to find any information about what has changed in the new release to cause this. Anyone know of something that might help?

    I used this side to create my demo application http://windowsclient.net/learn/video.aspx?v=314683 The site was very useful in getting my started and in their example, they created a file called EmployeeRepository.cs which appears to be the source for the data. In their example, the data was hard-wired in code. So I'm trying to learn how to get the data from a data source (like a DB). In my specific case, I want to get the data from a Microsoft Access DB.   • iPad modal form sheet takes up the whole screen anyways

    I'm trying to create a form sheet modal on iPad, which should be a 540x620 modal view. I've created a view controller with a NIB file whose view is a 540x620 sized UIView (with stuff on it). I set the modal presentation style to UIModalPresentationFormSheet, and call presentModalViewController:animated: on the current view controller. My view slides in from the bottom, but instead of being a form sheet, it takes up the whole screen (my view elements are all anchored in the top left of the screen). Even stranger, when I dismiss it, all the UI that was "underneath" it, is all re-layed out to be in the center, in approximately a form sheet sized area in the center of the screen. Bizarro! Anyone have any suggestions as to what could cause this behavior? Thanks.

    I'm trying to call DisplayFor and DisplayForModel to iterate an IEnumerable< with various element types from within a view. I have Templates defined for each element/Model type. What I would like to do is check the ViewData.ModelMetadata.ContainerType from within the Template so that Template can determine if it was called as part of a collection. From what I've read on Brad Wilson post and others it has to do with the use of IEnumerable and its being an interface. Is there a way to insure that the ContainerType is set? Perhaps by creating a ModelMetadataProviders? I looked into that breifly but it appears the ContainerType value is determined before and then passed to the Provider. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Kohana 3.2 was designed to support the HMVC design pattern. The HMVC pattern consists of nested MVC-triads. Yet as far as I can tell, Kohana's cascading file system requires all Models and Controllers to be placed within a top 'classes' directory, and Views into a top 'views' directory. If Model/Controllers are thus separated from Views at the top level of the file system, then how are we supposed to implement nested MVC-triads?

    Hi - I'm trying to capture the value that's throwing a uniqueness error (or for that matter, any other type of built-in validation) to display it in the :message option. Here's what I tried (didn't work) # inside the model validate_uniqueness_of :name, :message => "#{name} has already been taken" # also tried using #{:name} I could use a custom validation, but this beats the point of using something that's already integrated into AR. Any thoughts? thanks.

    I was listening to Crockford's talk on Javascript closures and am convinced of the benefit of information hiding, but I do not have a firm understanding of when to use callback functions. It is mostly a true statement that a person could accomplish the same functionality with or without callbacks. As someone who is writing code, what heuristics or cues should I keep in mind when determining when to use callbacks/closures? I am not looking for the blanket statement 'Closures make more secure code', rather a list of practical examples or rules of thumb for when callbacks are the right idea.     Hello, I'm trying to set the width of table column to a minimum value. The header row (th) was set white-space:nowrap to prevent wrapping. Now all the columns (including td rows) set to a width that of th. I tried to expand the size of smaller columns by setting it in the html as <th style="width:200px;"> and <td style="width:200px;">, but it has no effect. In firebug, in the style section, the width setting is active element.style { width:200px; } Still, the computed tab shows the width is less than 200px.
