  • Does visibility affect DOM manipulation performance?

    IE7/Windows XP I have a third party component in my page that does a lot of DOM manipulation to adjust itself each time the browser window is resized. Unfortunately I have little control of what it does internally and I have optimized everything else (such as callbacks and event handlers) as much as I can. I can't take the component off the flow by setting display:none because it fails measuring itself if I do so. In general, does setting visibility of the container to invisible during the resize help improve DOM rendering performance?

  • Delphi hook to redirect to different ip

    What is the best way to redirect ANY browser to a different ip for specific sites? For example if the user will type www.facebook.com in any browser he will be redirected to 127.0.0.1. Also the same should happen if he will type 66.220.146.11. What I have until now is this: using the winpkfilter I am able to intercept all the traffic on port 80, with type(in or out), source ip, destination ip and packet. My problem is to modify somehow the packet so the browser will be redirected.   • Installing Wordpress - constant PHP/MySQL extension appears missing

    I've got Win2003 w/IIS6, PHP 5 and MySQL installed. I can confirm PHP is installed correctly because I have a testMe.php that runs properly. When I run the Wordpress setup, I get informed that Your PHP installation appears to be missing the MySQL extension which is required by WordPress. But in my PHP.ini in the DYNAMIC EXTENSIONS section I have extension=php_mysql.dll extension=php_mysqli.dll I verified that mysql.dll and libmysql.dll are both in my PHP directory. I copied my libmysql.dll to the C:\Windows\System32 directory. When I try to run the initial setup for WordPress, I get this answer. I've Googled setting this up, and everything comes down to the above. I'm missing something, but none of the instructions that I've found online seem to cover whatever that is.

    Hi all, I'd like to gather certain details of an SSL certificate on a particular web-site. I know this is straightforward using the openssl tool on Linux/MacOSX. However is the same or similar possible in JavaScript? I understand that the browser handles socket connections and that the SSL handshake occurs prior to any party sending data. However in an XMLHTTPRequest, I'd like to know if its possible to get these details as some sort of response code etc?

    I would like to add a custom attribute to a asmx web service to determine if the request is valid based on the client IP address. This is a similar idea to the AuthorizeAttribute in ASP.NET MVC. Is there anywhere (e.g. a HTTP module) I can put the code to look at the attribute on the webservice and decide whether to allow the request or not? In my web.config the handler for asmx is the ScriptHandlerFactory from the System.Web.Extensions dll. I have already implemented the functionality with a HTTP module and a config file with a list of allowed URLs, but I would prefer to get rid of the config file and just add an attribute to the webservice class.   • How to get XDebug working on Mac command line PHP

    I recently installed Zend Server Community Edition on a Mac with Snow Leopard. I can't get XDebug to work ... it shows up in the output for phpinfo from a web browser, but when I var_dump() a variable, there is no special output, and when I run phpunit, code coverage reports aren't generated. Also when I type php -m at the command line, there is nothing for XDebug. I suspect that it's because the Mac is running the executable of PHP that was bundled with it instead of the executable of PHP that came with the Zend Server install. When I type /usr/local/zend/bin/php -m, XDebug does show up. I followed the instructions at http://akrabat.com/php/some-notes-on-zend-server-ce-for-mac-os-x/. Also I downloaded the xdebug.so from the Komodo web site. Zend Debugger and all other Zend extensions are disabled. So how can I get XDebug working correctly?

Googling I found that I can use document.body.style.overflow='hidden' but this doesn't work for IE7. I also tried with document.body.scroll="no" which works but only after I mouse over the scrollbar :-S Does anybody knows a better aproach? Thansks

  • Publishing WCF .NET 3.5 to IIS 6 (Windows Server 2003)

    I've been developing a WCF web service using .NET 3.5 with IIS7 and it works perfectly on my local computer. I tried publishing it to a server running IIS 6 and even though I can view the WSDL in my browser, the client application doesn't seem to be connecting to it correctly. I launched a packet sniffing app (Charles Proxy) and the response for the first message comes back to the client empty (0 bytes). Every message after the first one times out. The WCF service is part of a larger application that uses ASP .NET 3.5. That application has been working fine on IIS 6 for awhile now so I think it's something specific to WCF. I also tried throwing an exception in the SVC file to see if it made it that far and the exception never got thrown so I have a feeling it's something more low level that's not working. Any thoughts? Is there anything I need to install on the IIS5 server? If so how am I still able to view the WSDL in my browser? I serached the forums but havent got the solution yet. That URL is opening in Blackberry device Internet Browser but not getting the HttpConnection (HttpConnection is coming NULL) when i try through my code.

  • ASP.NET Development Server - Empty webResource.axd after conversion from 2.0 to 3.5

    I have moved a project from asp.net 2.0 to 3.5. The original project was using the atlas ajax extensions so I have modified the code to use the built in ajax features in 3.5. When running the project within the dev environemnt (VS2008 on Vista Business SP1) and using the asp.net dev server I receive javascript errors such as WebForm_PostBackOptions which point to a missing handler/module. If I deploy the project and run it stand alone within IIS or if I use Fiddler2 while running in VS2008 I do not see the errors and fiddler shows that the axd files are being downloaded correctly. Also deploying to a 2003 server does not show any issues. I could just carry on and forget this as it works when deployed but I would like to understand what is happening. Has anyone got an ideas as to what is going on here and how to get the same results accross all environments?

    Hi, My android application uses an sqlite database and during first run it deletes some rows . The next time it runs it tries to do the same , but because the rows were previously deleted it fails . I use SQLite database browser to inspect the database ,after first run (when the rows are deleted) and I observe that the rows that no longer should exist are still in the database , even if ehwn running the app again those rows are no longer visible ! What is the cause for this behavior ?

    Are there any repositories around for open sourced iPhone components? For instance, I have found myself needing to create several new types of table cells to mimic some of Apple's existing functionality (for instance, all the different types of table cells present in the Settings application). I can't imagine I'm alone here. Where do you go to find open sourced reusable components, or do you just write and hoard your own? Update: I know there are open source full projects around (see this question), but rummaging through them and picking and choosing still leads to significant duplication of effort.   • Can Cython compile to an EXE?

    I know what Cythons purpose is. It's to write compilable C extensions in a Python-like language in order to produce speedups in your code. What I would like to know (and can't seem to find using my google-fu) is if Cython can somehow compile into an executable format since it already seems to break python code down into C. I already use Py2Exe, which is just a packager, but am interested in using this to compile down to something that is a little harder to unpack (Anything packed using Py2EXE can basically just be extracted using 7zip which I do not want) It seems if this is not possible my next alternative would just be to compile all my code and load it as a module and then package that using py2exe at least getting most of my code into compiled form, right?

  • Advanced Array Sorting in Ruby

    I'm currently working on a project in ruby, and I hit a wall on how I should proceed. In the project I'm using Dir.glob to search a directory and all of its subdirectories for certain file types and placing them into an arrays. The type of files I'm working with all have the same file name and are differentiated by their extensions. For example, txt_files = Dir.glob("**/*.txt") doc_files = Dir.glob("**/*.doc") rtf_files = Dir.glob("**/*.rtf") Would return something similar to, FILECON.txt ASSORTED.txt FIRST.txt FILECON.doc ASSORTED.doc FIRST.doc FILECON.rtf ASSORTED.rtf FIRST.rtf So, the question I have is how I could break down these arrays efficiently (dealing with thousands of files) and placing all files with the same filename into an array. The new array would look like, FILECON.txt FILECON.doc FILECON.rtf ASSORTED.txt ASSORTED.doc ASSORTED.rtf etc. etc. I'm not even sure if glob would be the correct way to do this (all the files with the same file name are in the same folders). Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I want the ability to save the current context to a .pdf file on the local HD.     Hi, var xmlHttpRequest = new ActiveXObject("Msxml2.XMLHTTP"); xmlHttpRequest.open("POST", "http://vat/_vti_bin/lists.asmx", false); How can I let this script work on a Terminal server? When I open it on my local pc, it works, but when I do the same thing in a browser on a Terminal server, I get Access Denied.
