• CF64 on Server 2008x64 breaks pretty much everything else, how to fix?

  I just installed CF64 on a WinServer2008x64 machine. Previously a whole array of classic ASP and ASP.Net apps were functioning, after the CF install they're not. I'm getting an http 500 on everything not coldfusion. I believe it's a mapping issue. • Asp.net hashing (using codesmith) when upgrading from .net 2.0 to 3.5

  Hi, I'm administrating servers running IIS 6, hosting a website on ASP.NET 2.0. Yesterday I installed .Net framework 3.5, and all my user authentication system was lost. Users can't log in, because their password arn't getting authenticated, maybe because the hash function has changed in 3.5??? I can't really get to the code, but I know it uses an extention called CodeSmith. Do you know of any break my upgrade the 3.5 ugrade could couse? Please help. Thanks.

• Server 2008 Hard Faults

  Hey all, plase bear with me as I haven't looked at a server in a very long time. The problem I am having is with a Windows 2008 Standard FE Service Pack 2 Intel Xeon X3430 @ 2.40 2.39 GHZ 4 GB Memory 64 Bit There seems to be no problems other than the physical memory peaking at 91%, always with over 100 Hard Faults Per Second. To my understanding hard faults should be fairly rare on a machine with. Are there any logs I can show you? Or investigate myself. The general performance of the machine is ok, i can access SBS2008 and change settings fairly smoothly without hangs etc. However, we connect to the server and do quite a bit of SQL via an application. For a record to retrieve say 20 rows, it can take 20+ seconds. • Updating a deallocated UIWebView from a background thread

  As you can see from the title, I've programmed myself into a corner and I've got several things working against me... In a UIViewController subclass that manages a large and complex view. One part of it is a UIWebView that contains output from a web request that I had to build and execute, and manually assemble HTML from. Since it takes a second or two to run, I dropped it into the background by calling self performSelectorInBackground:. Then from that method I call there, I use self performSelectorOnMainThread: to get back to the surface of the thread stack to update the UIWebView with what I just got. If this happens after I've already left this view, I get: 2010-06-07 16:38:08.508 EverWondr[180:760b] bool _WebTryThreadLock(bool), 0x1b6830: Tried to obtain the web lock from a thread other than the main thread or the web thread. This may be a result of calling to UIKit from a secondary thread. Crashing now... Despite what this says, I can repeatably cause this crash when I back out too early. I'm not at all convinced that attempting a UI update from a background thread is really the issue; I think it's that my UIWebView is deallocated. I suspect that the fact I was just IN a background thread makes the runtime suspect something's up about that, but I feel fairly sure that's not it. So how do I tell CLLocationManager not to worry about it, when I'm backing out of that view? I tried [self.locationManager stopUpdatingLocation] inside my viewWillDisappear method, but that didn't do it. (Incidentally, MapQuest's apis are FANTASTIC. Way WAY better than anything Google provides. I can't recommend them highly enough.)

  Can somebody help me in installing bugzilla (list out exact steps if possible) on Windows Server 2008 with IIS 7.0 , Mysql 5.1 & existing email server(already configured)? I followed installation steps from many posts & also your site , everything goes right but when I start to creating accounts by sending email in bugzilla web panel, I get error:- “There was an error sending mail from 'bugzilla-daemon@' to '[email protected]':Can't call method "address" on an undefined value at C:/Program Files (x86)/Bugzilla/perl/perl/site/lib/Email/Send/SMTP.pm line 25.” I also tried installing through Windows installer, but same issues. • How should I debug a vb.net website in iis6 that is throwing 'Deadlock detected' errors and becomes

  A few times a day, our vb.net (IIS 6.0) website is randomly throwing the following error and becomes completely unavailable for 5-15 minutes at a time while the application is recycled: ISAPI 'c:\windows\microsoft.net\framework\v2.0.50727\aspnet_isapi.dll' reported itself as unhealthy for the following reason: 'Deadlock detected'. The website ran for months on the exact same server in beta without problem - but the problem started over the weekend when we made the site live. The live site is under some load but less than many of our other production websites. How should I attack this problem? I've looked into orphaning the worker process and creating a dump file - but I'm not sure how to analyze that. Any advice or information is appreciated. Thanks, Shane

• website not accessible with IIS6 while NAT is configured in Windows 2003

  I have Windows2003 server configured with IIS 6. Until now it was working fine, but since I enabled NAT for my users to access the internet via this server, the website becomes unavailable. Note that I have two nics on the server one is WAN and 2nd is for LAN. Both IPs are behind the firewall. If I stop the NAT then the website is available externally. I tried to search the answer in this forum but didn't find appropriate one or maybe didn't properly understand. I'll appreciate if anyone can help me sorting out this issue.

• Asp.net 4.0 Handler Mappings Missing in IIS7

  I have two Windows 2008 R2 Servers running an asp.net 4.0 app. The server that is having problems actually loads asp.net pages just fine, but if there are any ajax calls they don't work. I noticed there are no .net 4.0 specific Handler Mappings in IIS for this server like the other server has. It's literally missing all .net 4.0 mappings (.axd, .soap, .cshtm, .ashx and even .aspx). I've tried running "aspnet_regiis -ir" but that didn't help. Should I reinstall the .net 4.0 framework? Manually add all these missing mappings? Is there something else going on? What I don't want to do is add a ton of handlers to a web.config, they aren't needed on the server that works so it shouldn't be needed on the broken one.

  I've been testing native vhd boot on several servers. It seems to be pretty transparent in terms of deployment and with my seat of the pants testing I have not noticed any difference in performance. The main reason that I want to boot vhd is due to their transportablility between different hardware and to hyper-v servers. the following roles will be installed. dfsr dhcp iis application server dc <- haven't tested this yet but see no reason why it won't work. With the above low impact (in terms of performance) roles do you thing booting from VHD is appropriate. thx

• ActiveMQ 5.2.0 + REST + HTTP POST = java.lang.OutOfMemoryError

  First off, I am a newbie when it comes to JMS & ActiveMQ. I have been looking into a messaging solution to serve as middleware for a message producer that will insert XML messages into a queue via HTTP POST. The producer is an existing system written in C++ that cannot be modified (so Java and the C++ API are out). Using the "demo" examples and some trial and error, I have cobbled together a working example of what I want to do (on a windows box). The web.xml I configured in a test directory under "webapps" specifies that the HTTP POST messages received from the producer are to be handled by the MessageServlet. I added a line for the text app in "activemq.xml" ('ow' is the test app dir): I created a test script to "insert" messages into the queue which works well. The problem I am running into is that it as I continue to insert messages via REST/HTTP POST, the memory consumption and thread count used by ActiveMQ continues to rise (It happens when I have timely consumers as well as slow or non-existent consumers). When memory consumption gets around 250MB's and the thread count exceeds 5000 (as shown in windows task manager), ActiveMQ crashes and I see this in the log: Exception in thread "ActiveMQ Transport Initiator: vm://localhost#3564" java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: unable to create new native thread It is as if Jetty is spawning a new thread to handle each HTTP POST and the thread never dies. I did look at this page: http://activemq.apache.org/javalangoutofmemory.html and tried but that didn't fix the problem (although I didn't fully understand the implications of the change either). Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks! Bruce Loth PS - I included the "test message producer" python script below for what it is worth. • How to set up an SSL Cert with Subject Alternative Name

  To test a specific embedded client, I need to set up a web server serving a couple of SSL (HTTPS) sites, say "main.mysite.com" and "alternate.mysite.com". These should be handled by the same certificate, with a Subject Name of "main.mysite.com" and a Subject Alternative Name of "alternate.mysite.com". This certificate needs to be in an authority chain back to a 'proper' CA (such as GoDaddy, to keep the cost down). My question is, are there any good tutorials on how to do this, or can someone explain the process? What sort of parent certificate do I need to purchase from the CA provider? My understanding of SSL certificates is limited, but as Manuel said in Fawlty Towers, "I learn...". I'm happy to work in Windows (IIS) or Linux (Apache) (or even OSX, for that matter).   Hi, I have 3 Windows 2008 Standard servers in my system with no domain controller. Two of the servers are running a NLB cluster and the third server is a file server that the web servers connect to. I want to store my source code on the file server and point the IIS config to the network file share. The web sites also need access to a file share on the file server. I was able to share the network drive and access while logged into either of the web servers but my web apps are unable to access the file share - I assume due to permissions.   Hello, I'd like to import a real Windows Server 2008 server as a Hyper-V Virtual Server on another Windows Server 2008 instance. Anyone have any idea how to do this? I'm looking at the System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2008 but it doesn't seem to import Windows Server 2008 - nor is it free.
