• What are some fast methods for navigating to frequently used folders in Windows 7?

  (This is a followup question from my previous question.) In windows XP I used to be able to quickly navigate to frequently used folders by making use of the 'Favorites' menu item and the hotkey behaviour. In certain conditions it could be set up so that getting to a particular folder was as easy as alt-a x (and without a file explorer window open it was as fast as win-e alt-a x). I am struggling to get anywhere near this speed in Windows 7 and would like to solicit advice from others regarding fast folder navigation to see if I am missing any methods. My current way to navigate quickly is basically move hand to mouse move cursor to navigation pane/pain. scroll all the way to the top (because normally I the panel is focused on whatever deep directory structure I am already in). sift through my 50+ favorites to get the one I want, or click a link to a folder that contains further links in some sort of 'pseudo-tree' functionality. select it. This is slower than my previous method by upwards of an order of magnitude. There are a couple of things I've contemplated: add expandable folders, not just direct links, to the favorites menu. add expandable folders, not just direct links, to the start menu. add links of my favorite folders to a submenu of the start menu so that they come up when I search them. They do but this still rather cumbersome started using 7stacks - url here (I cannot link the url directly due to lack of reputation but http://www.alastria.com/index.php?p=software-7s). This is about the closest I've gotten to some sort of compact, customizeable, easy to access, tree based navigation structure. How do you power users quickly navigate to your favorite folders? Are there keyboard shortcuts I am missing? Can someone recommend other apps or addon or extensions that can achieve this sort of functionality? The Current solution (thanks to the answers below) I am going to use is a combination of Autohotkey and 7stacks - autohotkey to launch 7stacks, 7stacks with the 'menu' stack type for fast, key-enabled navigation to folders organised in a tree structure. This solves about 90% of the issue, the only issues are (note that these are really minor, I am really splitting hairs more than anything here) Can't use this for existing folder navigation (ie already have a explorer window open, want to go to another directory) A bit more cumbersome to add/remove entries to compared to xp favorites. A little slower than xp favorites. Whatever. I'm happy. Thanks guys. • scvmap, disco, xsd, wsdl, svcinfo and datasource files

  We have a WEb Service named, let's say Foo. So there is a Foo.svc file and a code behind Foo.svc.cs. We add a silverlight project and wish to use the Foo.svc services so we add a Service Reference and call it's namespace FooBar. This creates the following files : Reference.cs Reference.svcmap Foo.xsd Foo.disco configuration.svcinfo Foo.wsdl Also various *.datasource files. Over time we update the Foo.svc and add more Web Services (methods and interfaces) and the number of files in the FooBar directory is growing. I have 26 Foo(nn).xsd files in this directory - where nn = 1 to 26. My configuration.svcinfo is upto configuration91.svcinfo. My question is this? Do any of these files need to be version controlled? Can they all be deleted each time you do a build \ deploy (as long as you do an update service reference)?

• Database Schema for survey polling application with a default choice.

  I have a survey application, where users can create surveys and give choices for every survey. Other users can choose their answers for the aurvey and then polls are taken to get the results of the survey. I already have the database schema for this Questions id, user_id, category_id, question_text, date_started Answers id, user_id, question_id, choice_id, explanation, date_added Choices id, question_id, choice_text As for now, users can choose their own choice answers to their surveys... but I want to be able to add a default "I dont care" or "I dont know" choice to every survey for people who simply dont care about the topic to take sides or who cant choose. So lets say theres a survey that asks who was a better president, George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, Ronald Reagon, or Richard Nixon... I want to be able to add a default "I dont care" option. I was thinking to just add that extra choice EVERY TIME a user creates a survey, but then I wouldn't have much control over the text for that choice after that survey has been created, and I want to know if theres a better way to do this, like create another table or something Thanks

• retreving long text (CLOB) using CFQuery

  I am using CFQuery to retrieve the CLOB field from Oracle DB. If the CLOB filed contains the Data less than ~ 8000, then I can see retrieved the value ( the o/p), however If the value in CLOB field size is more than 8000 chars, then its not retrieving the value. in <cfdump> i can see the query retrieved as 'empty String' though the value exists in Oracle DB. I am using the Oracle Driver in CFadim console enabled 'Enable long text retrieval (CLOB).' and 'Enable binary large object retrieval (BLOB). ' set 'Long Text Buffer (chr)' and 'Blob Buffer(bytes) ' values to 6400000 any suggestions to retrieve the full text?

  Hi All, Whilst there are many good examples on this forum that contain examples of coupling and cohesion, I am struggling to apply it to my code fully. I can identify parts in my code that may need changing. Would any Java experts be able to take a look at my code and explain to me what aspects are good and bad. • SQL Server 2000 incorrect message: duplicate key with unique index

  Database server: SQL Server 2000 - 8.00.760 - SP3 - Standard Edition I have a table with 5 columns, in which I want to add a large (300.000) number of records. There is a unique index on the combination of two columns. If I add the records with this unique index in place, SQL Server gives this error message: Msg 2601, Level 14, State 3, Line 1 Cannot insert duplicate key row in object 'TESTTABLE' with unique index 'test'. The statement has been terminated. (0 row(s) affected) However, if I delete the unique index and then add the records, I do not get any error when I create this unique index afterwards.

• Search multiple datepicker on same grid

  I'm using multiple datepicker on same grid and I face the problem to get a proper result. I used 3 datepicker in 1 grid. Only the first datepicker (Order Date)is able to output proper result while the other 2 datepicker (Start Date & End Date) are not able to generate proper result. There is no problem with the query, so could you find out what's going on here? Or any other way? the Details collection in the Master entity is a FixUpCollection, so it ought to track the changes IMO. So, any ideas how to make this work W/O killing the POCO'ness too much?

• Global Handler in IIS7 (Classic Mode) gives "Failed to Execute" error

  I have made a custom handler called MyIndexHandler and I want it to handle *.index requests, now as I want this handler to be executed by any website, I installed my handler with following two steps in IIS manager. Add MyIndexHandler.dll in GAC Add Managed Module for *.index, the drop down in IIS displays my index handler correctly so it means it did find it correctly from the GAC. I added Script map for aspnet_isapi.dll for *.index (this is required for classic mode) Now in any of my website if I try xyz.index, my handler does not get called and it returns "Failed to execute URL", now this only happens when IIS is unable to find the mapped handler, but I already have defined mapped handler at IIS level and when i try to add entry in web.config manually for this handler, it tells me you can not define multiple handler, it means that IIS finds my handler, mapping but for some reason it does not execute it.

  How do I add errors to the top of a form after I cleaned the data? I have an object that needs to make a REST call to an external app (google maps) as a pre-save condition, and this can fail, which means I need my users to correct the data in the form.   Is there a way to add a new App Path (for adding commands to Start-Run) without needing Admin? With admin, you can add an App Path to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths. I tried adding one under HKCU with no effect. I've added a new (user-writable) location to my user's PATH environment variable which lets me launch things from Start-Run, but the nerd in me still wants to know about the App Paths.

  I've read several articles that tell you how to add text to the output window in visual studio from within an Add-On (specifically, a visual studio 2008 integration package, via the visual studio 2008 SDK 1.1), but no examples of how to read text from the output window. My goal is to parse text from the debug output window while debugging a certain application (TRACE output and possibly stdin/stdout). The IVsOutputWindowPane interface has no methods for reading in text from the output window. When run with the above Jar files I get the 302 redirect, however if I run the exact same code from an Android project with the 1.6 Android Jar file on the build path I get the 200 response from the server. I get the same 200 response when running the code on my 2.2 device. My android application has internet permissions, and the HttpGet works fine. I'm assuming that the problem lies in the fact that HttpPost (or some other class) is different in some significant way between the Android Jar version and the newer Apache versions. I've tried adding the Apache libraries to the build path of the Android project, but due to the duplicate classes I get messages like: INFO/dalvikvm(390): DexOpt: not resolving ambiguous class 'Lorg/apache/http/impl/client/DefaultHttpClient;' in the log. I've also tried using a MultipartEntity instead of the UrlEncodedFormEntity but I get the same 200 result. So, I have a few questions: - Can I force the code running under android to use the newer Apache libraries in preference to the Android versions? - If not, does anyone have any ideas how can I alter my code so that it works with the Android Jar? - Are there any other, totally different approaches to doing an HttpPost in Android? - Any other ideas? I've read a lot of posts and code but I'm not getting anywhere. I've been stuck on this for a couple of days and I'm at a loss how to get the thing to work, so I'll try anything at this point. If I've got 2 tables that are joined in a 3rd table with a many-to-many relationship, is it possible to write an ICriteria with expressions in one of the tables and the join table? Lets say the mapping file looks something like: <bag name ="Bag" table="JoinTable" cascade ="none"> <key column="Data_ID"/> <many-to-many class="Data2" column="Data2_ID"/> </bag> Is it then possible to write an ICriteria like the following? • c# winforms - scrollable panel with rectangles

  Hi, I'm new to winforms and have tried to track down an answer to the following with no luck ... I have a panel in winforms and add to it a Rectangle that is wider than the panel itself. I've set the panel AutoScroll property to true however the panels horizontal scrollbar never appears. Why is this? And how do I get the scrollbar to scroll? Here is my code to add the rectangle: private void panel1_Paint(object sender, PaintEventArgs e) { Graphics g = e.Graphics; Rectangle rec = new Rectangle(2, 2, 400, 40); g.DrawRectangle(new Pen(Color.Black), rec); g.FillRectangle(new SolidBrush(Color.Blue), rec); } If I add a Label control to the panel and give it a text value that will go beyond the bounds of the panel - then the autoscroll works, but just not for a rectangle. I have added all style and properties in there. so eg. dim td as htmltablecell td.style.add("width","100px") td.style.add("color","blue") now what i want to do is add the tag to each row. this is because the first td of every row is a checkbox. and then textboxes follow. So when anyone clicks on the textbox, i want to checkbox to get checked. Any idea how I can do this?

• Dealing with sequences in OpenCV?

  I have 2 sequences. One (lets call this cvSeq x), which contains a number of contours (derived from cvFindContours) and a second (lets call this cvSeq y) which I have used cvCreateSeq upon, but doesn't actually have anything in it. I am looping through all the contours in x, and if a contour meets specific criteria, I add it to y. I am able to do the looping, but I don't know how to add an contour in x to y if it meets the criteria. Does anyone know how to add a contour in a sequence to another sequence (that is empty)? Code examples will be appreciated. PS: cvStartFindContours is not an option.
