  • Sometimes Xcode appears to ignore target build settings?

    Hi all, I've created a iPhone static library project with two targets like this Project -- Library (Device) target -- Library (simulator) target The device target has the SDK set to the device so it produces an armv6/7 library and the simulator target is set to the simulator SDK so it produces an i386 library. The issue I'm having is that the SDK settings on the targets keep getting overridden by the XCode active target setting. i.e. if I build the device target, but the XCode window is showing the active SDK as being the simlulator, XCode will build a simulator library instead of a device library, ignoring the settings of the target. Although it will put it into the *-iphoneos/ directory in the build directories! I originally had the same issue with another static library project, and after a lot of playing around got everything to work correctly. i.e. The targets ignore the XCode active SDK because they have their own specifications of what to build. The problem is that I don't know what made it work in that project and I have not been able to reproduce the issue in it either. Does anyone have any ideas as to what is going on? ciao Derek

    I've added WCF Service reference to my asp.net application and configured that reference to support asncronious calls. But from UI i'm not supposed to call the service methods directly. I need to call all service methods from a static class and from code behind file i need to invoke the static method. In this scenario what exactlly do i need to do?

    I need to send files securely from Adobe Air. In any other language, my first thought would be sftp/scp, but I don't see any libraries to do that in Flex. I'm new to flex, so I'm not sure where to look for code examples and repos. It looks like the raw socket interface is available, so I could write one if no good examples exist. Of course, I'm trying to avoid that.

  • How should I provide access to this custom DAL?

    I'm writing a custom DAL (VB.NET) for an ordering system project. I'd like to explain how it is coded now, and receive some alternate ideas to make coding against the DAL easier/more readable. The DAL is part of an n-tier (not n-layer) application, where each tier is in it's own assembly/DLL. The DAL consists of several classes that have specific behavior. For instance, there is an Order class that is responsible for retrieving and saving orders. Most of the classes have only two methods, a "Get" and a "Save," with multiple overloads for each. These classes are marked as Friend and are only visible to the DAL (which is in it's own assembly). In most cases, the DAL returns what I will call a "Data Object." This object is a class that contains only data and validation, and is located in a common assembly that both the BLL and DAL can read. To provide public access to the DAL, I currently have a static (module) class that has many shared members. A simplified version looks something like this: Public Class DAL Private Sub New End Sub Public Shared Function GetOrder(OrderID as String) as OrderData Dim OrderGetter as New OrderClass Return OrderGetter.GetOrder(OrderID) End Function End Class Friend Class OrderClass Friend Function GetOrder(OrderID as string) as OrderData End Function End Class The BLL would call for an order like this: DAL.GetOrder("123456") As you can imagine, this gets cumbersome very quickly. I'm mainly interested in structuring access to the DAL so that Intellisense is very intuitive. As it stands now, there are too many methods/functions in the DAL class with similar names. One idea I had is to break down the DAL into nested classes: Public Class DAL Private Sub New End Sub Public Class Orders Private Sub New End Sub Public Shared Function Get(OrderID as string) as OrderData End Function End Class End Class So the BLL would call like this: DAL.Orders.Get("12345") This cleans it up a bit, but it leaves a lot of classes that only have references to other classes, which I don't like for some reason. Without resorting to passing DB specific instructions (like where clauses) from BLL to DAL, what is the best or most common practice for providing a single point of access for the DAL?

    This is quick confirmation question: In order to make partial classes work, I initially thought that there would be a main Class public class ManageDates and then you would create partial classes like public partial class ManageDates to extend the ManageDates class. But from some experiementing, I've come to find out that if you're going to use partial classes, each individual class must be declared public partial class [ClassName] ... Am I correct in this conclusion?

  • Blueprint CSS & Boks: strange behavior with prepend and append in FF and Chrome

    Hi, I am working a bit with Blueprint CSS framework and I stumbled upon Boks. I am pretty unfamiliar with the BPCSS framework, but it seems that when using prepend and append, Firefox and Chrome (both) are not liking the input. I generated the code from Boks and for my newbe eye-sight, I can't directly see what went wrong in the export. The idea was to define classes that parsed each PARAM type and to keep track of which class to use in the PARAM's CLASS attribute. In code I have a config class that manages the list of profiles and a profile class that manages the list of params. I would like the profile class to handle additional param types (that inherit BaseParam) without modification to the profile class (or at the very least with minimal modification). First of all, is this design viable? If so, what are some ways I could use different param classes and have their creation at run-time be automatic (the profile class sees the CLASS attribute and knows which type to create)?

  • DropDownList Value not changing with UpdatePanel and ModalPopupExtender

    Greetings, I have an asp.net webpage with an modalpopupextender inside of an updatepanel. When I click Ok on the popup, I can get the textbox values from the popup just fine, but the DropDownLists have the old/default value, not the new value I have selected for them. All the controls on the popup are set to enableviewstate = true, and autopostback = false (I just want to make the trip to the server when I click the ok button, not every time I change the value of the popups).   • Including variables inside curly braces in a Zend config ini file on Linux

    I am trying to include a variable in a .ini file setting by surrounding it with curly braces, and Zend is complaining that it cannot parse it properly on Linux. It works properly on Windows, though: welcome_message = Welcome, {0}.     I am using the DropBox Core API in my app and therefore, I must include the XCTest framework, because, when I haven't added the XCTest framework, my app can't connect to dropbox, however when I do add the framework, I get an error while building for the simulator.   • What amount of physical RAM would a typical "commodity class" server have, as of late 2013?

    I'm trying to spec out servers for my company's infrastructure group to build. They tell me anything more than 2GB is too much, which I find ridiculous considering cheap DRAM is about 15 bucks a dimm in bulk and our particular software runs better with more memory. I tried to find out how much google servers use, and pinning down a number is hard. Best I could find in a google research paper was that in 2008, their commodity servers were using 2 and 4GB dimms, but the paper never said how many. I realize "commodity server" is a vague term, but I'm just looking for a rough range in RAM used. I suspect at least 16GB is going to be the norm.

    I have an XML document which contains nodes like following:- <a class="custom">test</a> <a class="xyz"></a> I was tryng to get the nodes for which class is NOT "Custom" and I wrote an expression like following:- XmlNodeList nodeList = document.SelectNodes("//*[self::A[@class!='custom'] or self::a[@class!='custom']]"); Now, I want to get IMG tags as well and I want to add the following experession as well to the above expression:- //*[self::IMG or self::img] ...so that I get all the IMG nodes as well and any tag other than having "custom" as value in the class attribute. Any help will be appreciated. EDIT :- I tried the following and this is an invalid syntax as this returns a boolean and not any nodelist:- XmlNodeList nodeList = document.SelectNodes("//*[self::A[@class!='custom'] or self::a[@class!='custom']] && [self::IMG or self::img]");

  • IntelliJ: Adding resources to the class path, but still gives me "java.util.MissingResourceException: Can't find bundle.... locale en_US"

    I am quite new to intellij and i have loaded in a project that i wish to compile, everything seems to be going well, but when i compile it. I get the bundle cannot be found. java.util.MissingResourceException: Can't find bundle for base name openfire_i18n, locale en_US at java.util.ResourceBundle.throwMissingResourceException(ResourceBundle.java:1499) After doing some investigation, it appears i have to include the resources in the class path, is this correct? I have done Project Settings, Modules, Dependencies, and i added a "Jars or directories" There is a checkbox that says Export, i have tried clicking it and unclicking it :-) My resources i can see are in i8n\ResourceBundle I tried adding the i8n and it asked me for a category for selected files, i put classes RUN - but still same error.. so i tried adding the i8n/ResourceBundle directory RUN - still same error. I notice under my ResourceBundle directory there are C:\Dev\Java\openfire_src_3_7_1\openfire_src\src\i18n\openfire_i18n_en.properties but there is no specific en_US but i thought it supposed to fallback to EN ?? SO i think everything is ok. Can anyone help I am really stuck Thanks
