  • How Does Entourage 2008 (for Mac) Decide Which Emails Form a Conversation?

    This is a little bit like http://stackoverflow.com/questions/288757/how-to-identify-email-belongs-to-existing-thread-or-conversation but I am more interested in how Entourage 2008 really does threading as opposed to how it ought to. I have the parent message that has something like Message-ID: <[email protected]/> then some replies that have (in addition to their own Message-ID) In-Reply-To: <[email protected]/> However, these show up as two conversations! The first conversation consists solely of the parent message, and the second conversation consists of the other replies. Would adding a References: header (as described in RFC 2822) resolve this?

  • Lucene and Special Characters

    I am using Lucene.Net 2.0 to index some fields from a database table. One of the fields is a 'Name' field which allows special characters. When I perform a search, it does not find my document that contains a term with special characters. I index my field as such: Directory DALDirectory = FSDirectory.GetDirectory(@"C:\Indexes\Name", false); Analyzer analyzer = new StandardAnalyzer(); IndexWriter indexWriter = new IndexWriter(DALDirectory, analyzer, true, IndexWriter.MaxFieldLength.UNLIMITED); Document doc = new Document(); doc.Add(new Field("Name", "Test (Test)", Field.Store.YES, Field.Index.TOKENIZED)); indexWriter.AddDocument(doc); indexWriter.Optimize(); indexWriter.Close(); And I search doing the following: value = value.Trim().ToLower(); value = QueryParser.Escape(value); Query searchQuery = new TermQuery(new Term(field, value)); Searcher searcher = new IndexSearcher(DALDirectory); TopDocCollector collector = new TopDocCollector(searcher.MaxDoc()); searcher.Search(searchQuery, collector); ScoreDoc[] hits = collector.TopDocs().scoreDocs; If I perform a search for field as 'Name' and value as 'Test', it finds the document. If I perform the same search as 'Name' and value as 'Test (Test)', then it does not find the document. Even more strange, if I remove the QueryParser.Escape line do a search for a GUID (which, of course, contains hyphens) it finds documents where the GUID value matches, but performing the same search with the value as 'Test (Test)' still yields no results. I am unsure what I am doing wrong. I am using the QueryParser.Escape method to escape the special characters and am storing the field and searching by the Lucene.Net's examples. Any thoughts?

    I am using a WebBrowser-Control to fill in a webform and then click at a button, this currently results in a standard Download File Dialog (you get these if you download a file using internet explorer), but instead, I have to catch this file and save it automatically with a by me defined name to a specific folder. I am trying to code a little application in vb.net which download the Export-file from my wordpress-blog, and I want to do this completely without user-interaction. Currently everything works, except the downloading of the file. I tried to catch it with the event System.Windows.Controls.WebBrowser.Navigating(ByVal Object, ByVal System.Windows.Navigation.NavigatingCancelEventArgs) but I don't see where to download the file from :( I hope you guys can help me.

  • Selenium tests not building due to NUnit error (Mono+OS X)

    I'm running Selenium RC on my Mac and driving my tests using NUnit in C#. My problem is that when I try and build a simple test in Mono I get the following error. Error CS0433: The imported type `NUnit.Framework.Assert' is defined multiple times (CS0433) (TestProject) When I comment out the Assert's it runs fine.     I need to quickly replace a listings website which has the following characteristics: smallish database (10,000 items, < 1GB) < 10% of the items updated/created/removed daily most common activity is searching the whole dataset, returning 1-1000 items traffic peaks at 1m page impressions per day Scaling strategy for the existing app has been to separate read-only and read/write activity. Multiple slave databases are used for searching and writes are done to a master, which update the slaves using MS SQL replication. Since read activity is more common than write, this has proved to be a cheap way to do database load balancing, without true clustering. I now need to replace the app - are there any C# open-source apps which scale as neatly as this?

  • VB.NET - Read lines from command line to Windows form possible?

    Hey Overflow, I have an application which serves as a user interface for a spartan/command line program. I have the program running on a separate process, and my application monitors it to see if it is responding and how mush CPU it is utilising. Now I have a list of files in my program (listbox) which are to be sent to the application, which happens fine. But I want to be able to read text from the com-line so as to determine when the first file has been processed. Com-line says one of "selecting settings", "unsupported format" and "cannot be fixed". What I want to be able to do is when it says one of these three things, remove item(0) in listbox1. Is this possible? I thought of programming an event which handles com_exe.print or something or other, if possible.

  • Drawing a relative line in C#

    Guys, I know this is going to turn out to be a simple answer, but I can't seem to figure it out. I have a C# Winform application that I am trying to build. I am trying to draw a white line 60 pixels above the bottom of the form. I am using this code: private void MainForm_Paint(object sender, PaintEventArgs e) { e.Graphics.DrawLine(Pens.White, 10, this.Height-60, 505, this.Height-60); } Simple enough, however no line is drawn. After some debugging, I figured out that it IS drawing the line, but it is drawing it outside my form. If I change the -60 to -175, then I can see it at the bottom of my form. This would solve my problem, except as my form's height changes, the line draws closer and closer to the bottom of my form until eventually, its off the form again. What am I doing wrong? Am I using the wrong graphics unit? Or is there a more complex calculation I need to do to determine 60 pixels from the bottom of my form?

I want to return a hash with customer_id set if the user has a customer associated with the account, and customer_attributes if a customer has to be created. Is there any way that I could do this with an if..end block inside of the hash definition.   • jQuery Validation plugin results in empty AJAX POST

    Hi, I have tried to solve this issue for at couple of days with no luck. I have a form, where I use the validation plugin, and when I try to submit it, it submits empty vars. Now, if I remove the validation, everything works fine.     Hello, I am trying to replace some text in a string with different text while retaining some of the text and I am having trouble doing it. My code is: StreamReader reader = new StreamReader(fDialog.FileName.ToString()); string content = reader.ReadToEnd(); reader.Close(); /Replace M2 with M3 (this works fine) content = Regex.Replace(content, "M2", "M3"); I want to replace a string that contains this: Z0.1G0H1E1 and turn it into: G54G43Z.1H1M08 (Note the Z value and the H value contain the same numeric value before the text change) The trouble I am having is that when I replace the values, I need to retain the H value and the Z value from the first set of text. For example, Z0.5G0H5E1 I need to add the new text, but also add the H5 and Z0.5 back into the text such as: G54G43Z0.5H5M08 But the Z values and H values will be different every time, so I need to capture those values and reinsert them back into the string when add the new G54G43 values. Can someone please show me how to do this using Regex.Replace? Thanks so much, Shawn

    I'm fairly new with PHP and I am messing around with a login/registration system. I setup my sample website using a PHP-SWITCH script I found a while back: <?php switch($_GET['id']) { default: include('home.php'); /* LOGIN PAGES */ break; case "register_form": include ('includes/user_system/register_form.php'); } ? On the registration page the form links to my "register.php" which checks the validity of the form and to check for any blank fields and so on. "register.php" is supposed to refresh the page and add a reason to what the user did wrong when submitting the form. On my "register_form.php" page, which holds the actual form. This field is hidden until the user makes a mistake. <?php if (isset($reg_error)) { ?> , please try again. My "register.php" checks the form for all the errors. Here's the bit of code that will refresh the page with the reason for the error: // Check if any of the fields are missing if (empty($_POST['username']) || empty($_POST['password']) || empty($_POST['confirmpass'])) { // Reshow the form with an error $reg_error = 'One or more fields missing'; include 'register_form.php'; Now after I submit the form without any fields filled out I get the error code, but it refreshes to the actual "register_form.php". The problem with this is that because of my PHP-SWITCH script (helps me manage the site a lot easier) I don't have any formatting on that page. The actual URL to my "register_form.php" would be: "index.php?id=register_form.php". Now I have tried several different things such as changing it to: include 'index.php?id=register_form.php' And also changing it to: header(location:index.php?id=register_form.php') Unfortunately all this does is refresh the page without the reason for the error. I know this can be easily solved by just adding a Javascript Validator but I'd like to know if it is possible to refresh the page with the error using either "include" or "header()" while having a PHP-SWITCH script on the website.

  • In search of a packaged .Net security solution for web-forms.

    We are looking for a security solution for asp.net that has security down to the control level. This is not a necessity but, it would be nice. At the very least it needs to extend-able to allow for control level permissions. The solution should have an administration panel of some sort. It also needs to support roles, groups, and individual permissions. We haven't seen anything like this in the marketplace -- we are in the process of rolling our own solution. We'd rather use an off the shelf solution.

  • WPF: Editable ComboBox; how to make search/auto-fill functionality case sensitive?

    Say I have a ComboBox, like so: <ComboBox IsEditable="True" Height="30"> <ComboBoxItem>robot</ComboBoxItem> <ComboBoxItem>Robot</ComboBoxItem> </ComboBox> If a user comes along and starts by typing a lower-case 'r' into that ComboBox when it is empty, the ComboBox predictably auto-fills itself with the word 'robot'. Great. Now the same user comes along and starts typing an upper-case 'R' into that ComboBox when it is again empty. Unpredictable, the ComboBox auto-fills itself with the lower-case word 'robot'. Not great. I desperately want it to auto-fill itself with 'Robot', but WPF does not seem to want to smile down upon me. No matter what you do (CAPS lock, shift+key), the ComboBox will always auto-fill with the lower case 'robot', provided that the lower case 'robot' precedes the upper case 'Robot' in the ComboBox's items collection. Is there any way to prevent this? This behavior is maddening and makes for an absolutely abysmal user experience.

  • Has form post behavior changed in modern browsers? (or How are double clicks handled by the browser)

    Background: We are in the process of writing a registration/payment page, and our philosophy was to code all validation and error checking on the server side first, and then add client side validation as a second step (un-obstructive jQuery). We wanted to disable double clicks server side, so we wrote some locking, thread-safe code to handle simultaneous posts/race conditions. When we tried to test this, we realized that we could not cause a simultaneous post or race condition to occur. I thought that (in older browsers anyway) double clicking a submit button worked as follows: User double clicks submit button. Browser sends a post on the first click On the second click, browser cancels/ignores initial post, and initiates a second post (before the first post has returned with a response). Browser waits for second post to return, ignoring initial post response. I thought that from the server side it looked like this: Server gets two simultaneous post requests, executes and responds to them both (unaware that no one is listening to the first response). From our testing (FireFox 3.0, IE 8.0) this is what actually happens: User double clicks submit button Browser sends a post for the first click Browser queues up second click, but waits for the response from the first click. Response returns from first click (response is ignored?). Browser sends a post for the second click. So from a server side: Server receives a single post which it executes and responds to. Then, server receives a second request wich it executes and responds to. My question is, has this always worked this way (and I'm losing my mind)? Or is this a new feature in modern browsers that prevents simultaneous posts to be sent to the server? It seems that for server side double click prevention, we don't have to worry about simultaneous posts or race conditions. Only need to worry about queued up posts.     Here's the test page I'm using. With an alert in the handler: var fn = function() { alert("omg!"); } The form is not submitted. This is awfully curious. With event.stop(), which is supposed to prevent the browser taking the default action: var fn = function(event) { event.stop(); } We are sent to #fail. So alert() is more effective at preventing a submission than event.stop(). What gives? I'm using Firefox 3.6.3 and Prototype 1.6.0.3. This behaviour also appears in Prototype 1.6.1.

    Hi, I am able to make a hidden div show/hide when an input field is in focus/blur using the following code: $('#example').focus(function() { $('div.example').css('display','block'); }).blur(function() { $('div.example').fadeOut('medium'); }); The problem is I want div.example to continue to be visible when the user is interacting within this div. E.g. click, or highlighting the text etc. within div.example. However div.example fades out whenever the input is not in focus and the mouse is interacting with elements within the div. The html code for the input and div elements is as follows: <p> <label for="example">Text:</label> <input id="example" name="example" type="text" maxlength="100" /> <div class="example">Some text...<br /><br />More text...</div> </p> How do I make it such that the div.example only disappears when the user clicks outside the input and/or div.example? I tried experimenting with focusin/focusout to check the focus on <p> but that didn't work either. Would it matter that div.example is positioned directly below the input field #example using jQuery? The code that does that is as follows: var fieldExample = $('#example'); $('div.example').css("position","absolute"); $('div.example').css("left", fieldExample.offset().left); $('div.example').css("top", fieldExample.offset().top + fieldExample.outerHeight()); My apologies if this has been asked before, but the many show/hide div questions I read does not cover this.
