    Working on a Wicket application that adds markup to the DOM after onLoad via Wicket's built-in AJAX for an auto-complete widget. We have an IE6 glitch that means I need to reposition the markup coming in, and I am trying to avoid tampering with the Wicket javascript... blah blah blah... here's what I'm trying to do: New markup arrives in the DOM (I don't have access to a callback) Somehow I know this, so I fire my code. I tried this, hoping the new tags would trigger onLoad events: $("selectorForNewMarkup").live("onLoad", function(){ //using jQuery 1.4.1 //my code }); ...but have become educated that onLoad only fires on the initial page load. Is there another event fired when elements are added to the DOM? Or another way to sense changes to the DOM? Everything I've bumped into on similar issues with new markup additions, they have access to the callback function on .load() or similar, or they have a real javascript event to work with and live() works perfectly. Is this a pipe dream?

    I tried to work with html5 drag&drop api, and it works very well on my chrome 20.0.1132 on windows machine, but most fun - that the same version of chrome on mac os lion is not working. I mean dragstart is working, but drop event, dragleave, dragover is not fired.     I see from poking around in the 1.4.4 source that Autofac's ASP.NET integration (via Autofac.Integration.Web) peforms injection of properties on the Page as part of the HttpContext.PreRequestHandlerExecute event handling, but that the page's child controls don't get their properties injected until Page.PreLoad. What this means, though is that the injected properties of child controls are unavailable for use in the OnInit event handler. When I send request to some urls I have this exception: The request channel timed out while waiting for a reply after 00:00:59.9531250. Increase the timeout value passed to the call to Request or increase the SendTimeout value on the Binding. The time allotted to this operation may have been a portion of a longer timeout. But, sometimes, when I debug code, I get response. How to solve this?

  • sorting a gridview alphabetically when columns are codes

    hi there i have a gridview populated by a Web Service search function. some of the columns in the grid are templatefields, because the values coming back from the search (in a datatable) are ids - i then use these ids to lookup the values when the rowdatabound event is triggered and populate a label or some such. this means that my sorting function for these id/lookup columns sorts by the ids rather than the textual value that i have looked up and actually populated the grid with (although i do put the ids in the grids datakeys). what i want to do is top be able to sort by the looked up textual value rather than the codes for these particular columns. what i was going to do to get around this was to when the datatable comes back from the search, adding more columns the textual values and doing all the looking up then, thus being able to sort directly from the manually added columns. is there another way to do this? as that approach seems like a bit of a bodge. although i guess it does remove having to do the looking up in the rowdatabound event.... my sorting function works by sticking the datatable in the session and on each bind grabbing the sort column and binding the gridview to a DataView with the sort attribute set to the column - and the direction. thanks nat

  • Why can't I get the value of this text input?

    It seems simple enough, but nothing I try is working. I have a jquery ui datepicker, I use val() to get the value of that input on button click(), then log it. The click event is working. I can log a string I write myself, but when I pass console.log() the variable that stores the datepicker value...nothing.     Hello Community. I'm doing an Image Cache following this method: http://www.brandondement.com/blog/2009/08/18/creating-an-image-cache-with-actionscript-3/ I copied the two as classes, renaming them CachedImage and CachedImageMap. The thing is that I don't want to store the image after being loaded a first time, but while the application is being loaded. For that, I've created a function that is called by the application pre-initialize event.   • How to establish a socket connection from iPhone to a Apache server and communicate via PHP?

    Hi, I am working on an iPhone game which is depended on a LAMP server. I want to create a "event" based system where the apache server sends an event to the iphone. For this, I am thinking of using "CFStreamCreatePairWithSocketToHost" to connect to port 80 of the apache server. I am able to successfully connect to the server and open a read and write stream via the iPhone, but I am not sure how to send data to the iphone using PHP running from the LAMP server to the iPhone. I think I can use fsockopen in php to open a socket connection and write data to that socket.   • need to change TextBox.Text inside TextChanged, something forces form close

    I am making a TextBox behave like if it could store a null value. In order to do that, i have a variable NullMode that indicates wether the value is stored is Null, and in TextChanged i set that to false, and on specific user action i set it to true and Text to a value that indicates that there is null inside the textbox. Then, based on NullMode, textbox is drawn differently. Now, i have a semaphore-like approach in order to prevent event handle from firing when i dont need it. Here is how it looks: private void input_TextChanged(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (_preventTextBoxEvents) return; _preventTextBoxEvents = true; //if (NullMode) // Text = ""; NullMode = false; ValidateInput(); _preventTextBoxEvents = false; } Now, if i need to set a textbox text to something that should show while in nullmode, i just set _preventTextBoxEvents before i do to true and it works all right. BUT! I need to also remove the text when user tries to input something into the textbox! So i need to set Text to "". Problem is, if i uncomment that, form is closed after the event handler exits. I cannot prevent it (e.Cancel = true in FormClosing doesnt help!) and do not understand what can be causing it. There is no error message too (and i'm not doing try-catch). My logic, when i do Text="". OnTextChanged should fire, it should call my TextChanged and it will see _preventTextBoxEvents is true and exit, so there would be no stack overflow / infinite recursion. What is going on?

  • Best practice to create WPF wrapper application displaying screens on demand.

    Context: I'm developing a WPF application which will contain a lot of different "screens". Each screen contains a which on its turn contains all the visual elements. Some elements trigger events (e.g., checkboxes), a screen has individual resources, etc. The main application is "wrapper" around these screens: it contains a menubar, toolbar, statusbar and alike (in a DockPanel) and space to display one screen. Through the menubar, the user can choose which screen he wants to display. Goal: I want to dynamically load & display & (event)handle one screen in the space in the main application. I don't want to copy & paste all the "wrapper" stuff in all the different screens. And As I have many complex screens (around 300 - luckily auto-generated), I don't want to load all of them at the start of the application, but only upon request. Question: What do you recommend as the best way to realize this? What kind of things should I use and investigate: Pages or windows or User Control for the screens? Does this affect the event handling?

  • Why not install Msvcr71.dll into system32?

    While looking for an authoritative source for the missing Msvcr71.dll that is needed by a few old applications, I stumbled across the MSDN article Redistribution of the shared C runtime component in Visual C++. The advice given to developers is to drop the DLL into the application's directory instead of system32 since DLLs in this directory are considered before the system paths. What can/will go wrong if I (as an administrator, not a developer) decide to take the lazy path and install Msvcr71.dll (and Msvcp71.dll while I'm at it) into the system32 directory (of 32 bit Windows XP or Windows 7 systems) instead of putting a copy in each application's directory? Is there another good solution to provide the applications with the needed DLLs that doesn't involve copying stuff to the application directories? added after first answers: I understand that incompatible API changes may have been made to the mentioned DLLs, but pretty much every mention of incompatibilities I have found using Google had to do with games or video codecs. Right now, I expect that the risk of breakage is pretty small. Am I missing something?

    I've got a scheduled task set up in my Windows 7 machine which is meant to run a BAT file when I'm not around, i.e. the machine has been idle for 15 minutes. Does anyone know how to track down the cause of the error code ? Checked on MSDN and it says ... SCHED_E_TASK_ATTEMPTED 0x80041324 The Task Scheduler service attempted to run the task, but the task did not run due to one of the constraints in the task definition. And to confuse me even further, I've just noticed it has run while I'm at the machine with last result (0x0)

    I have a class (mxml) that extends Button while implementing drag/drop support. When I drag one of them onto another, the drag receiver stays stuck in its 'over' phase until I click on it (As if something about DragManager.acceptDragDrop is preventing the MouseEvent from getting to button) Is there a way to make a button re-evaluate its phase after the drop? I've tried fabricating a MouseEvent and sending it to rollOverHandler with no luck.   • [AS3] Calling Php Script with UTF-8 POST variables

    AS3 documentation says that Strings in AS3 are in UTF-16 format. There is a textbox on a Flash Clip where user can type some data. When a button is clicked, I want this data to be sent to a php script. I have everything set up, but it seems that the PHP script gets the data in UTF-16 format.     I have a copy of Windows 7 Professional that I have downloaded from the MSDN e-academy (thanks to my school). Now, the problem is that these license keys are one-use only. If I need to reformat or do a factory reset, what is the best way for me to do so, without invalidating my license and screwing me out of an operating system? Edit: I would also like to know some information on the "restore to factory settings" option in Windows 7 recovery center. Does it do exactly as the name implies and starts you off as if you had just done a fresh install? If I had some kind of nasty trojan or virus, would it be able to survive through the factory reset? The recovery center also has an option for reformatting, though I don't think that it's an actual format - it just backs up your stuff into a Windows.old folder or something like that. Does that require a valid license key?

    In my ASP.net MVC View I have a dropdown that I want to get details on selection and asynchronously update a div. The onchange event fires correctly on selection of the dropdown, but instead of the Details method in my code behind firing, it hits my Index method. Why is the details method not getting hit on the onchange event? My Details() method in the controller is: public ActionResult Details() { ... < It never gets here, just goes to the index() method } It's a little frustrating right now since I'm sure it is a simple mistake but not sure what it could be. I looked at the Source of my page and sure enough, the form looks like it should be routing to the Details Action: <form action="/Portal/Details" method="post" ... Any help would be appreciated.

  • How would you code an efficient Circular Buffer in Java or C#

    I want a simple class that implements a fixed-size circular buffer. It should be efficient, easy on the eyes, generically typed. EDIT: It need not be MT-capable, for now. I can always add a lock later, it won't be high-concurrency in any case. Methods should be: .Add and I guess .List, where I retrieve all the entries. On second thought, Retrieval I think should be done via an indexer. At any moment I will want to be able to retrieve any element in the buffer by index. But keep in mind that from one moment to the next Element[n] may be different, as the Circular buffer fills up and rolls over. This isn't a stack, it's a circular buffer. Regarding "overflow": I would expect internally there would be an array holding the items, and over time the head and tail of the buffer will rotate around that fixed array. But that should be invisible from the user. There should be no externally-detectable "overflow" event or behavior. This is not a school assignment - it is most commonly going to be used for a MRU cache or a fixed-size transaction or event log.

I entered the MSDN "Disk 5000: Developer Tools" DVD, opened default.htm, clicked on the "Visual Studio Team Foundation Server 2010" link. The VSTFS2010 folder open. I click autorun.exe. And then I get "Microsoft Visual Studio Agents 2010 Setup". I don't get it. Why "agents"? I wanted to instal a server!

  • Release edit in QTableWidget Cell

    Basically I am trying to give the enter key the same functionality as the return key has when editing a cell in a qtablewidget. If editing a cell and enter is pressed I want it to jump out of editing that cell just like return does. It feels like I've literally tried everything. I've even tried passing a return press event to qcoreapplication. It seems like if your editing a cell and you press a key to trigger an action it wont happen. That seems to be what the problem is and I'm not sure how to get around that. I've been setting up all of my keyboard shortcuts for this program as actions because it seems easier to set up. Is there another way to do this that would allow the key event to happen when editing a cell? Can anyone help out with this? Thank you in advance. Tried this.   • Lost in dates and timezones

    I'm working on an application that stores conferences with their start and end date. Up until now, I was developing in Belgium and my server is in France, so everything is in the same timezone, no problem. But today, I'm in San Francisco, my server is in France and I noticed I have a bug. I'm setting dates from a Flex client (ActionScript automatically adapts date display according to client local timezone, which is GMT-8 for me today. My server runs on Hibernate and MySQL in France (GMT+1). So when I look at my database using phpMyAdmin, I see a date set to "2010-06-07 00:00:01" but in my Flex client it displays "2010-06-06 15:00:01". Ultimately, what I want is that the dates are displayed in the local timezone of the event, which is the date I set it to. So when I'm in Belgium and I set the start date of an event to be "2010-06-07 00:00:01" I want to retrieve it that way. But I'm lost as to what layer adapts what. Is timezone stored in DATETIME MySQL columns (I can't see it in MySQL)? Does Hibernate to anything to it when it transfers it to java.lang.Date that has Timezone information? And ultimately, what is the best way to solve this mess?
