  • Any HTTP proxies with explicit, configurable support for request/response buffering and delayed conn

    When dealing with mobile clients it is very common to have multisecond delays during the transmission of HTTP requests. If you are serving pages or services out of a prefork Apache the child processes will be tied up for seconds serving a single mobile client, even if your app server logic is done in 5ms. I am looking for a HTTP server, balancer or proxy server that supports the following: A request arrives to the proxy. The proxy starts buffering in RAM or in disk the request, including headers and POST/PUT bodies. The proxy DOES NOT open a connection to the backend server. This is probably the most important part. The proxy server stops buffering the request when: A size limit has been reached (say, 4KB), or The request has been received completely, headers and body Only now, with (part of) the request in memory, a connection is opened to the backend and the request is relayed. The backend sends back the response. Again the proxy server starts buffering it immediately (up to a more generous size, say 64KB.) Since the proxy has a big enough buffer the backend response is stored completely in the proxy server in a matter of miliseconds, and the backend process/thread is free to process more requests. The backend connection is immediately closed. The proxy sends back the response to the mobile client, as fast or as slow as it is capable of, without having a connection to the backend tying up resources. I am fairly sure you can do 4-6 with Squid, and nginx appears to support 1-3 (and looks like fairly unique in this respect). My question is: is there any proxy server that empathizes these buffering and not-opening-connections-until-ready capabilities? Maybe there is just a bit of Apache config-fu that makes this buffering behaviour trivial? Any of them that it is not a dinosaur like Squid and that supports a lean single-process, asynchronous, event-based execution model? (Siderant: I would be using nginx but it doesn't support chunked POST bodies, making it useless for serving stuff to mobile clients. Yes cheap 50$ handsets love chunked POSTs... sigh)

    The problem is I am using get_info() to make a ajax call to Result.lasso and paste the response in div with id 'test'.I am unable to use the sendForm() function from the page where i am calling the get_info(). I have also tried using different versions of jQuery 1.1.1.3 is working fine.But i am facing the problem while using higher versions of jquery.     guys, i have a html page where onclick of a button a ajax request is sent to server , the request calls a jsp page which runs an oracle procedure.The procedure runs the logic and places it in a temp table . once procedure is completed , the values are returned to the client by selecting values from tmp table. as the response is too late . the data is not received at the client side. solution: i tried to run the procedure in a separate thread using a ajax call. when the procedure is completed a global flag is set to indicate that the data is generated. if the response is 500 , a second ajax call invoked by timeout function after 10000 ms . the second call checks the global flag ,if true then reads from table and sends the response. if not again a timeout is set at the client side. this solution is not mature enough. , as the procedure may take long time to respond. please let me know a good solution for this problenm?

Those values will be stored in hidden fields in the html page I'm creating on the fly and then requesting.     I'm having a go with the razor functionality in service stack. I have a razor cshtml view working for one of my response DTO's. I need to access some values from the request DTO in the razor view that have been filled in from some fields from the REST route, so i can construct a url to put into the response html page and also label some form labels. Is there anyway of doing this? I don't want to duplicate the property from the request DTO into the response DTO just for this html view. There filter parameters should come from the FilterRow of the AspxGridView (preferably using the AspxGriedView.FilterExpression property). The problem: the AspxGriedView.FilterExpression property is not set to the proper values (set by the user). Did anyone find a good implementation of what I'm trying to do here? Thanks a bunch. :)

  • Should I add the vcxproj.filter files to source control

    While evaluating Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2, I see that in the converted directory my vcproj files have become vcxproj files. There are also vcxproj.filter files alongside each project which appear to contain a description of the folder structure (\Source Files, \Header Files, etc.). Do you think these filter files should be kept per-user or should the be shared across the whole dev group and checked into SCC? My current thinking is to check them in but wondered if there's any reasons not to do that or perhaps good reasons that I should definitely check them in. The obvious benefit is that the folder structures will match if I'm looking at someone else's machine but maybe they'd like to reorganize things logically??

    Hi, I'm having difficulties handling multiple instances of my root (main) activity for my application. My app in question has an intent filter in place to launch my application when opening an email attatchment from the "Email" app. My problem is if I launch my application first through the the android applications screen and then launch my application via opening the Email attachment it creates two instances of my root activity. steps: Launch root activity A, press home Open email attachment, intent filter triggers launches root activity A Is it possible when opening the Email attachment that when the OS tries to launch my application it detects there is already an instance of it running and use that or remove/clear that instance?

    In SQL Server Reporting Services 2005, how can I filter a nested table within a list? I have 2 datasets. The first, datasetHeader, contains one row per account. The second, datasetDetails contains multiple rows per account. Control: Dataset name List: datasetHeader Table: datasetDetails The table is placed within the list. When I attempt to filter on the table, I get fields from datasetHeader instead of datasetDetails. Previously I had the table within a subreport, and I had that working by using parameters; however, I needed to pull it into the main report because of the implied KeepTogether=true property for subreports that was causing undesired pagination.

  • Filtered ListView not updated

    Hi! I have a ListView with a custom Adapter that extends ArrayAdapter. It's a ArrayAdapter of Type Artist. Artist is a very small class that has a name and an id. The Artist Class has toString() overridden to return just the name. I have an EditText. The EditText has an TextChangeListener where i call .getFilter().filter(chars, callback) on my adapter. In the Filter.Filterlistener().onComplete() callback i print the count and it looks really good. As i type the count decreases. So it seams everything works as advertised, but the List stays the same. I tried to call artistAdapter.notifyDataSetChanged() to force the list to redraw, but nothing happens. [see 2.)] I am tinkering around for days now! I am desperate.. Hopefully someone can have a look on my code and tell me what i am doing wrong! Thanks! Here is what i have done: 1.)     Using jQuery UI 1.8rc3 combined with the new jquery.effects.fade.js code, I've been able to finally apply fade-in and fade-out effects to opening the UI Dialog widgets. Hooray! $dialog.dialog({ show: { effect: "fade", options: {}, speed: 150 } } This works great - unfortunately, there's the known IE7 & 8 bug where the ClearType gets turned off by the application of an empty filter: style attribute after the fade effect is finished. I have the code to remove the filter attribute, I just can't find a good way to hook it into the event chain. The dialog's "open" and "focus" events are too soon. I need something like a "dialog opening animation is finished" callback. How can I hook up a callback to the end of the opening effect for a dialog?

  • Can you disable your Gmail account but still view the messages?

    Howdy, Is there a way to disable a Gmail account but still be able to login and see the messages. I would also like to send an auto responder to any messages that may be addressed to that account. I have setup a filter on all incoming mail with a * for the From search term and am able to delete them. But it appears that the auto-responder does not work for messages that do not go through the inbox. Any other ideas? Thank you, Keith

    I am developing a module for Apache which contains an output filter that I would like to always be invoked so that it can determine whether to process the request data or just pass the data along. Since I would like the module to be compatible with Apache 2.0 as well as 2.2, I do not want to use mod_filter. Ideally I would like to do this without having to explicitly enable the filter through the httpd.conf file, but I have so far not been able to find any example of this. Is this at all possible? Can someone please point me to a suitable example?

    Hello. Well, this smells like a tumbleweed, but I will ask it anyway. Suppose you have a noweb file with some c# code. You also have the c++ pretty-print filter dpp. If you run the command noweave -filter ./dpp -x test.nw > csharp.tex on the file below, it will print everything except for the curly braces. Instead of them, I get an em-dash and a closing quotations marks (i.e. ?) in the dvi. The tex source looks fine...     I am trying to reconstruct an algorithm belong to this paper: Decomposition of biospeckle images in temporary spectral bands Here is an explanation of the algorithm: We recorded a sequence of N successive speckle images with a sampling frequency fs. In this way it was possible to observe how a pixel evolves through the N images. That evolution can be treated as a time series and can be processed in the following way: Each signal corresponding to the evolution of every pixel was used as input to a bank of filters. The intensity values were previously divided by their temporal mean value to minimize local differences in reflectivity or illumination of the object. The maximum frequency that can be adequately analyzed is determined by the sampling theorem and s half of sampling frequency fs. The latter is set by the CCD camera, the size of the image, and the frame grabber. The bank of filters is outlined in Fig. 1. In our case, ten 5° order Butterworth11 filters were used, but this number can be varied according to the required discrimination. The bank was implemented in a computer using MATLAB software. We chose the Butter-worth filter because, in addition to its simplicity, it is maximally flat. Other filters, an infinite impulse response, or a finite impulse response could be used. By means of this bank of filters, ten corresponding signals of each filter of each temporary pixel evolution were obtained as output. Average energy Eb in each signal was then calculated: where pb(n) is the intensity of the filtered pixel in the nth image for filter b divided by its mean value and N is the total number of images. In this way, en values of energy for each pixel were obtained, each of hem belonging to one of the frequency bands in Fig. 1. With these values it is possible to build ten images of the active object, each one of which shows how much energy of time-varying speckle there is in a certain frequency band.     Hi, so the story go like this: i'm using the Logging Enterprise Application block that provided by microsoft to log events in our application. The goal is to enabled event viewer logging at loading and then turn it off. What i did is to add EventLog TraceListener which write all our logs into the event viewer. What i'm trying to do is to disable it after the application was done loading. The only way that i can thing about is to add a LogEnabled Filter and then turn it off. However, i don't know how to access this filter at run time and disable log on this listener. if you have an idea, please share. Thanks

    Since we've switched to VS2010 we've noticed a new .filters file that apparently contains the filter structure of the project. We're also using subversion as our source control. Unfortunately, every time we check in now we end up with merge conflicts if anyone's added a file or filter to the project. SVN seems absolutely incapable of merging this file type correctly even though it's text based. It's getting rather frustrating. Is anyone else dealing with this problem? Has anyone found a solution?
