  • Accessing a control in asp.net content page through Javascript

    Hi, I have a form in my content page for which I am doing some client side validations via Javascript. The Javascript behaves as expected if I place the JS code directly in the content page. But if I place the JS code in it's own file and try accessing that from the content/master page (through the script tag's src attribute), I get a run time error when the validation function in JS being called. To be specific, I get the below error. Microsoft JScript runtime error: Objected expected/required at this line - document.getElementById('<%=txtemailId.ClientID %').value txtemailId is in the content page. Javascript code is placed in validation.js and accessed via master page. The reason I guess is that when .net is parsing the files, it is unable to substitute txtemailId.ClientID with the client side value that would be generated later on. So, how should one go about it?   • What's the best way to parse RSS/Atom feeds for an iPhone application?

    So I understand that there are a few options available as far as parsing straight XML goes: NSXMLParser, TouchXML from TouchCode, etc. That's all fine, and seems to work fine for me. The real problem here is that there are dozens of small variations in RSS feeds (and Atom feeds too), so supporting all possible permutations of feeds available out on the Internet gets very difficult to manage. I searched around for a library that would handle all of these low-level details for me, but came out without anything. Since one could link to an external C/C++ library in Objective-C, I was wondering if there is a library out there that would be best suited for this task? Someone must have already created something like this, it's just difficult to find the "right" option from the thousands of results in Google. Anyway, what's the best way to parse RSS/Atom feeds in an iPhone application?

  • How to test crontab entry?

    I have an entry in my crontab that looks like this: 0 3 * * * pg_dump mydb | gzip > ~/backup/db/$(date +%Y-%m-%d).psql.gz That script works perfectly when I execute it from the shell, but it doesn't seem to be running every night. I'm assuming there's something wrong with the permissions, maybe crontab is running under a different user or something. How can I debug this? I'm a shared hosting environment (WebFaction).

    I've spent far too much time trying to figure this out. This should be the simplest thing and everyone who distributes Java applications in jars must have to deal with it. I just want to know the proper way to add versioning to my Java app so that I can access the version information when I'm testing, e.g. debugging in Eclipse and running from a jar.     One of my high school students and I are going to try to do a port of Haskell's Parsec parser combinator library into Scala. (It has the advantage over Scala's built-in parsing library that you can pass state around fairly easily because all the parsers are monads.) The first hitch I've come across is trying to figure out how Functor works in scalaz. Can someone explain how to convert this Haskell code: data Reply s u a = Ok a !(State s u) ParseError | Error ParseError instance Functor (Reply s u) where fmap f (Ok x s e) = Ok (f x) s e fmap _ (Error e) = Error e -- XXX into Scala (using Scalaz, I assume). I got as far as sealed abstract class Reply[S, U, A] case class Ok[S, U, A](a: A, state: State[S, U], error: ParseError) extends Reply[S, U, A] case class Error[S, U, A](error: ParseError) extends Reply[S, U, A] and know that I should make Reply extend the scalaz.Functor trait, but I can't figure out how to do that.   • Long running, polling, queueing process for Python. What's the best stuff to use?

    Feel free to close and/or redirect if this has been asked, but here's my situation: I've got an application that will require doing a bunch of small units of work (polling a web service until something is done, then parsing about 1MB worth of XML and putting it in a database). I want to have a simple async queueing mechanism that'll poll for work to do in a queue, execute the units of work that need to be done, and have the flexibility to allow for spawning multiple worker processes so these units of work can be done in parallel. (Bonus if there's some kind of event framework that would also me to listen for when work is complete.) I'm sure there is stuff to do this. Am I describing Twisted? I poked through the documentation, I'm just not sure exactly how my problems maps onto their framework, but I haven't spent much time with it. Should I just look at the multiprocess libraries in Python? Something else?

    Hye Guys, I'm busy working on a time series and am trying to find the commands that allow me to insert a quarter count variable. To keep things simple, the third quarter of 1995 (date my observations start) should be quarter -2, the fourth quarter of 1995 should be -1 etc etc uptill 2006 (should be somewhere around 45 by then). My dates are in date9 format, such as 20JUN04 etc.. Anyone who can help me with the commands I need t o let this work in SAS? Thanks

  • MVC Entity Framework Model not returning correct data

    Hi, Run into a strange problem while writing an ASP.NET MVC site. I have a view in my SQL Server database that returns a few date ranges. The view works fine when running the query in SSMS. When the view data is returned by the Entity Framework Model, It returns the correct number of rows but some of the rows are duplicated.     I have a column in my datatable which is of DateTime Type. I only want the DatePart, hence when I use the ToShortDateTimeString it converts to short date but of string type. Hence when i reassign the string to the column of the datatable it again appends 12:00:00 to it. I cannot change the column type in my datatable. Is there any way to convert DateTime to ShortDateTime directly without converting to string?????
