  • PHP: Formatting multi-dimensional array as HTML?

    - by Industrial
    Hi everybody, I have tried to get my head around building a recursive function to handle formatting of a unknown depth multi-dimensional array to HTML and nested Divs. I thought that it should be a piece of cake, but no. Here's what I have come up with this far: function formatHtml($array) { $var = '<div>'; foreach ($array as $k => $v) { if (is_array($v['children']) && !empty($v['children'])) { formatHtml($v['children']); } else { $var .= $v['cid']; } } $var.= '</div>'; return $var; } And here's my array: Array ( [1] => Array ( [cid] => 1 [_parent] => [id] => 1 [name] => 'Root category' [children] => Array ( [2] => Array ( [cid] => 2 [_parent] => 1 [id] => 3 [name] => 'Child category' [children] => Array () ) ) ) ) Thanks a lot!

  • Detecting file upload size on the client side?

    - by DisgruntledGoat
    I'm using PHP for file uploads. In the PHP manual it shows an example using a MAX_FILE_SIZE hidden field, saying that it will detect on the client side (i.e. the browser) whether the file is too large or not. I've just tried the example in Firefox, Chrome and IE and it doesn't work. The file is always uploaded, even if it is way larger than the specified hidden field. Incidentally, if the file is larger than MAX_FILE_SIZE then calling move_uploaded_file doesn't work, so it seems the variable is having an effect server-side, but not client-side.

  • Appending target="_blank" to links in an iframe without using <body onload>

    - by CincauHangus
    I'm trying to change the links in an iframe to load in a new window instead of the iframe itself. Currently I use this code in head: $(document).ready(function() { var oIFrame = document.getElementById("iframeID"); var oDoc = (oIFrame.contentWindow || oIFrame.contentDocument); if(oDoc.document) oDoc = oDoc.document; var links = oDoc.getElementsByTagName("a"); for(var i=0; i<links.length; i++) { links[i].target="_blank"; } }); However, the code above is triggered before the iframe is fully loaded with its contents. I know this code would work if it's triggered in the body onload attribute, but I'd like to avoid that method and implement it in a function or a file instead.

  • Using Zend_Navigation, how do I create image-based navigation?

    - by SimpleCoder
    (I'm assuming my navigation should be in a layout script.) I have a navigation bar composed of rollover images. The image corresponding to the page that is active should be a different color, though. I do this by changing the image. My question is, where and how should I implement this using Zend_Navigation? Details: The menu itself is just a stack of divs that are floated to the left within a container. Each div has a background image. Thank you for your help,

  • Usability of an endless/infinite scroll

    - by Anton Gogolev
    What are pros and cons of this technique (see Softfolio for an example). Two things I personally thought of are as follows: Impossible to tell someone where an item of interest is located (like, you probably won't say "324-th row, second column") Broken navigation when you return back to an infinitely scrolled page. What else can you think of? And what do you personally think of this approach in general. Would you use this in you projects?

  • Negative margins: can they work in IE7 and IE8?

    - by Haroldo
    I'm trying to have a kind of dirty underline effect using a string of hyphens, but I want it slightly closer to the multi-line title than the line-height. Negative margin works a treat in FF but no joy in IE? <p>a multiline title here<p><p style="margin: -7px 0px 10px 0px;">-----------------------------------------------------------------------------</p>

    I have a piece of code shown below: $(".tagArea li").mouseover(function(){ $(this).animate({ borderWidth: "2px" }, 1000 ); }); $(".tagArea li").mouseout(function () { $(this).animate({ borderWidth: "1px" }, 1000 ); }); When I try to hover it on a particular list item, it properly animates but doesn't stop doing just once.   • Manipulating original elements with qTip

    - by pjotr
    I have a bunch of divs on my page and each of them has only the class attribute. In the divs there are some spans, which are set up to display a tooltip with the help of qTip. The tooltip should contain three items: Up: anchor, which should move the OuterDiv up (probably something like this: move up/down in jquery) Down: anchor, which should move the OuterDiv down Delete: anchor, which should remove the calling OuterDiv My code so far: <body> <div class="OuterDiv"> <div class="InnerDiv"> <span class="Position">Position 1</span> </div> </div> <div class="OuterDiv"> <div class="InnerDiv"> <span class="Position">Position 2</span> </div> </div> </body> And scripts: $(document).ready(function () { var qTipContent = '<a href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="">&uarr;</a>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;'; qTipContent = qTipContent + '<a href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="">&darr;</a>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;'; qTipContent = qTipContent + '<a href="javascript:void(0)" onclick="">X</a>'; $('.Position').each(function () { $(this).qtip({ content: qTipContent, hide: { fixed: true } }) }); }); How should the onclick function in the qTip content look like?

  • Dictionary to Json object, "Expected expression"

    - by MrW
    I'm trying to convert a dictionery into a json object, so that I can work with it in my front end. sortFields = <%= SchrodersHtmlHelper.ToJson(ViewData["SortInfo"])%>; However, I keep on getting "Expected expression" for this all the time and I'm clueless why. Could anyone explain to me what I'm doing wrong? Edit: The conversion works fine, but I still get this issue in the front end, causing the browser to complain about it.

  • How important is the website logo on a page?

    - by meo
    I have stopped to insert "img" tags for the logo of the page. Because its not an image that is part of the content, its a design element but its still a information I want to have control over. So I just write the title in a "a" element as display: block, overflow: hidden and I push the text out with some padding. I think thats a good solution for SEO because you are keeping control of how important the logo should be on a page. But now my dilemma is starting. How important is the logo of a page? "A list apart" puts the logo in a h1 element. But is the logo really that important? On article pages you have two H1 elements (the logo and the title of the article) Most of the sites just use a img balbal /a, but I don't like this solution. Because I just want to use img for images that are part of the content... Its kinda philosophical question, I hope you can give me some input or some articles to read about that...

  • Form Arrays support across browsers

    - by Stomped
    I'm not even sure if form arrays is the proper term, but it looks a bit like this: <input name='element[]' type='text' /> <input name='element[]' type='text' /> Which is then retrieved in PHP as an array stored in $_POST['element'] -- in this case with 2 values. I've tested it in the browsers I have available to me, but I've never seen this before and I'm wondering is this supported pretty much in all browsers? Or is this something very old that I've just not run into? Thanks!
