• how can I invoke a webservice from another webservice

  I have two webservices A and B. A needs to invoke one of the webMethods in B. How can I achieve this? I am using maven's wsimport plugin to build A. This is to generate the necessary stubs for B and include them as part of the Webservice A. However, when I try to Invoke the webmethod o f B, I get an Exception. Can anyone please tell me what is going on? • Is there a JS diff library against htmlstring just like google-diff-match-patch on plain text?

  Currently I am using google-diff-match-patch to implement a real-time editing tool, which can synchronize texts between multiple users. Everything works great when operations are only plain texts, each user's operation(add/delete texts) could be diff-ed out by comparing to old text snapshot with the helper of google-diff. But when rich format texts(like bold/italic) are involved, google-diff not working well when comparing the htmlstring. The occurrence of character of < and > messed up the diff results, especially when bold/italic format are embedded within each other. Could anyone suggest a similar library like google-diff to diff htmlstrings? Or any suggestions can get my problem fixed with google-diff? I understood google-diff is designed for plain text, but really didn't find a better library than it so far, so it also works if a doable enhancement to google-diff can help. Thanks for any comments. Thus, I'll need to set up a cron job with a frequency of 1 minute. I think Google app engine gives free cron job. But i'm very new to it. I downloaded the java SDK and read the document but understood nothing :( So, i cant use Google app engine.   I'm having trouble retrieving 2 artifacts in my Maven/Java/Google App Engine project: com.google.appengine.orm:datanucleus-appengine:jar:1.0.7.final com.google.appengine:appengine-api-1.0-sdk:jar:1.3.4 There's a similar question posted, but each answer brings me back to the same error message. More detail I don't know if it is relevant, but rather than a version number, my original dependency for DataNucleus contained a variable. I am using Eclipse. <groupId>org.datanucleus</groupId> <artifactId>datanucleus-core</artifactId> <version>${datanucleus.version}</version> <scope>runtime</scope> I did not include my stack trace in Maven for brevity's sake.   I need a "find nearest location" on our website. Where visitor enters their zip/postal code, then they are redirected to specific webpage for our nearest location. We have forty USA and Canada locations. How can I build something like this? Could I do this with the Google Maps API? I already have a custom map on Google Maps. It's plotted with our locations. It would be nice to send Google Maps a command to say "what's our nearest location at __ zip code". Any suggestions?

• Setting a cookie before Javascript Redirection

  Hello, I have a Rails app where I set a set a session variable the moment a user lands on my site with the referer and the page they hit. Additionally, I have Google Optimizer sending traffic from my homepage to various landing pages. The problem is that I think Google Optimizer is sending users away before the cookie is set. Is that even possible? I believe that the cookie is set from the HTTP Header, which must have fully loaded before Google's Javascript has even loaded. Thanks, Jason

• Can't set a cookie in Chrome 5

  Hi, Since today I am facing a tricky issue with Google Chrome that I've just updated to v5. I have a user login process running on my website. Everything works fine on FF 3.6.x and IE 7, but I just can't set any cookie in Google Chrome 5. I'm mentioning 5 because it worked very well before on v4. My PHP script looks like that: $cook = setcookie($cookieName, $value, $expires, '/', '.'.$domain); var_dump($cook, isset($_COOKIE[$cookieName])); I even tried the alternative setrawcookie without any result. $cook = setrawcookie($cookieName, $value, $expires, '/', '.'.$domain); var_dump($cook, isset($_COOKIE[$cookieName])); FF 3.6.x and IE7 output: bool(true) bool(true) Whereas Chrome v5 outputs: bool(true) bool(false) And obviously I see not trace of this cookie in Google Chrome 5. • Why does Chrome ignore local jQuery cookies?

  I am using the jQuery Cookie plugin (download and demo and source code with comments) to set and read a cookie. I'm developing the page on my local machine. The following code will successfully set a cookie in FireFox 3, IE 7, and Safari (PC). But if the browser is Google Chrome AND the page is a local file, it does not work. $.cookie("nameofcookie", cookievalue, {path: "/", expires: 30}); What I know: The plugin's demo works with Chrome. If I put my code on a web server (address starting with http://), it works with Chrome. So the cookie fails only for Google Chrome on local files. Possible causes: Google Chrome doesn't accept cookies from web pages on the hard drive (paths like file:///C:/websites/foo.html) Something in the plugin implentation causes Chrome to reject such cookies Can anyone confirm this and identify the root cause?

• Website Sitemaps and <priority>, is it working?

  Hi, My "Privacy Policy" page is seen more important by Google than other really more important pages on my website. I'm currently creating a script to generate a sitemap, should I bother with the priority? How do you effectively assign priorities to pages? I consider one of my page important but the page have less content than another one less important to my eyes... but maybe Google bot will see it the other way around. If my degree of "importantness" differs from the one of Google, will I get penalized on the ranking for a particular page? Thank you for sharing your black art with us :P

• Translate a webpage in PHP

  I'm looking to translate a webpage in PHP 5 so I can save the translation and make it easily accessible via mydomain.com/lang/fr/category/article.html rather than users having to go through google translate. I've found various easy ways to translate text via CURL, however what i'd really like to be able to do is translate an entire webpage but obviously ignore the tags. The problem is that Google Translate messes up all the HTML tags, class names etc Does anyone know of a php class that can translate an entire webpage whilst ignoring the tags? I'm guessing it may be possible via advanced regular expressions or something like that, but i'm not sure. I can't just curl Google's response as i'll have all the extra JS that they put in. Any ideas?

  I have asked this question here about a Python command that fetches a URL of a web page and stores it in a variable. The first thing that I wanted to know then was whether or not the variable in this code contains the HTML code of a web-page: from google.appengine.api import urlfetch url = "http://www.google.com/" result = urlfetch.fetch(url) if result.status_code == 200: doSomethingWithResult(result.content) The answer that I received was "yes", i.e. the variable "result" in the code did contain the HTML code of a web page, and the programmer who was answering said that I needed to "check the Content-Type header and verify that it's either text/html or application/xhtml+xml". I've looked through several Python tutorials, but couldn't find anything about headers. So my question is where is this Content-Type header located and how can I check it? Could I send the content of that variable directly to my mailbox? Here is where I got this code. It's on Google App Engines.

  I'm creating a slideshow using javascript that fades images. Awhile back, I discovered that to change the opacity of an image, I have to use a different API, depending on whether the page is viewed in Firefox or IE. Firefox: img.style.opacity = [value 0 to 1]; IE: img.style.filter="progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Alpha(opacity= [value 0 to 100] )"; So, currently, I use <script LANGUAGE="JScript"> for code that is meant for IE. This was suggested in the Mozilla docs. The problem: Chrome thinks my <script LANGUAGE="JScript"> code is valid, when it is not. How to make Chrome ignore the code inside <script LANGUAGE="JScript"> ? Or how to make my opacity code cross-browser?

  One of my clients uses Trend Micro InterScan Messaging Security to protect their internal mail services. Suddenly InterScan decided to filter out all messages coming from Google App Engine. Unfortunately they haven't been able to whitelist the sender address as each e-mail gets a different one. For example, *3ckihSOVMMHlZHSL.JSMMHlZHSL.JS*@apphosting.bounces.google.com, with everything before the @ being variable. Update I'm including this screenshot of how Interscan sees the incoming e-mail. Notice that all senders are different: If I look into the e-mail headers, the apphosting domain appears inside the Return-Path field: Return-Path: <[email protected].google.com> The "From" field looks ok. It says what I set it to say, but the spam filter only looks at the Return-Path. My client sysadmin doesn't want to whitelist the whole apphosting domain, as it wouldn't be only whitelisting my application. How could I bypass this e-mail filters if I can't get an unique sender? • How to make an NSURL that contains a | (pipe character)?

  Hi all, I am trying to access google maps' forward geocoding service from my iphone app. When i try to make an NSURL from a string with a pipe in it I just get a nil pointer. NSURL *searchURL = [NSURL URLWithString:@"http://maps.google.com/maps/api/geocode/json?address=6th+and+pine&bounds=37.331689,-122.030731|37.331689,-122.030731&sensor=false"]; I dont see any other way in the google api to send bounds coordinates with out a pipe. Any ideas about how I can do this?

• Send 404 when requesting index.php through .htaccess?

  I've recently refactored an existing CodeIgniter application to use url segments instead of query strings, and I'm using a rewriterule in htaccess to rewrite stuff to index.php: RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /index.php/$1 [L] My problem right now is that a lot of this website's pages are indexed by google with a link to index.php. Since I made the change to use url segments instead, I don't care about these google results anymore and I want to send a 404 (no need to use 301 Move permanently, there have been enough changes, it'll just have to recrawl everything). To get to the point: How do I redirect requests to /index.php?whatever to a 404 page? I was thinking of rewriting to a non-existent file that would cause apache to send a 404. Would this be an acceptable solution? How would the rewriterule for that look like? edit: Currently, existing google results will just cause the following error: An Error Was Encountered The URI you submitted has disallowed characters.

• How Google Web Starter Kit serves adaptive image for mobile?

  My website weirdly (in a good way) serves smaller images when viewed on mobile. I wanted to know what cause this? As far as I know this is not the default behaviour, so I think it must be Google Web Starter Kit's doing.Here is the debug information when debugging on device. All images became 231 B size no matter how large it actually is. (On desktop debugging the size varies.) I tried using Google Web Starter Kit (https://github.com/google/web-starter-kit) recently. The tools in it are made of Ruby, Node.js, SASS and Gulp to help you 'build' website. Pre-build you can enjoy automatic reload because the Gulp script will watch all files for you. When build it will run various tools to minify HTML,CSS and compress images. According to this page https://developers.google.com/web/fundamentals/tools/build/build_site the gulp-imagemin was used. So I guess the imagemin is doing the mobile optimization for me? What kind of compression can serve automatically resized image on mobile? And why is the size 231 B? Is this related to my screen size?

• Pull row of data from one place in spreadsheet to another

  I have a list of names and their assorted properties. I am trying to find a way to quickly move an entire row's worth of data into a different sheet so I can manipulate it. Currently I can accomplish this by copy and pasting the entire row, but this is not elegant nor dynamic (the number in blue does not update with this method): My ideal solution: A name is typed into the "Name" column. The spreadsheet program pulls the associated row from the "main" sheet into the new sheet. I am currently using Numbers.app, but am curious if this is possible in Excel, OpenOffice Calc, Google Docs, or any other spreadsheet program. Thank you.
