• Need help with formulating LINQ query

  I'm building a word anagram program that uses a database which contains one simple table: Words --------------------- varchar(15) alphagram varchar(15) anagram (other fields omitted for brevity) An alphagram is the letters of a word arranged in alphabetical order. For example, the alphagram for OVERFLOW would be EFLOORVW. Every Alphagram in my database has one or more Anagrams. Here's a sample data dump of my table: Alphagram Anagram EINORST NORITES EINORST OESTRIN EINORST ORIENTS EINORST STONIER ADEINRT ANTIRED ADEINRT DETRAIN ADEINRT TRAINED I'm trying to build a LINQ query that would return a list of Alphagrams along with their associated Anagrams. • Implementing a 24 queue using MSMQ and WCF

  I am shortly starting a project, which requires messages to be held in a queue for a period of 24 hours, this is because the database can't have any updates at certain times of the month. The service also has to be hosted on windows server 2003, which means it will have to be a windows service. It is also required that the service use WCF so that in 12 months time when we move over to windows server 2008, the service can hosted in iis 7. At present I am wondering if MSMQ is the best way to handle this. I've been looking into topics like poison message handling & dead letter queues, but nothing that really covers what I am intending to actually do. Could anyone recommend a sample or a tutorial for this ? Thanks in advance

• Csharp: I am trying to get the top nth values from and rectangular array

  I am reading a txt file for strings that represent intergers. the file is space delimited. I have created an array[10,2]. evertime the the strings 1~10 is found in the file I increment array[n,0] by 1. I also feed array[n,1] with numbers 1~10. ie txt file contents: 1/1/1 10/1/2001 1 1 10 2 2 3 1 5 10 word word 3 3 etc.. streamreader reads 1/1/1 and determines that is is not 1~10 streamreader reads 10/1/2001 and determines that it is not 1~10 streamreader reads 1 and ++array[0,0] streamreader reads 1 and ++array[0,0] streamreader reads 10 and ++array[9,0] etc.. the result will be: '1' was found 3 times '2' was found 2 times '3' was found 3 times '5' was found 1 time '10' was found 2 times My problem is that I need this array placed in order(sorted) by value of column 0 so that it would be: 1 3 2 10 5

• Need a Concatenating VBA code to prevent memory issue workaround

  My set up: Have 50,000 rows of data. ( My row count will increase in the future. So might as well say I have a full worksheet of 64000+ rows.) All Data is TEXT, no formulas, etc. Column A is open Columns B thru AC contain the Data that needs to be concatenated The Data in the rows once concatenated to Column A will contain 60,000 digits or 6kb in file size. After additional maniuplation each cell will become a file. I have tried concatenating in Excel and I run into memory issues. The memory issue is when I Select and fill down the concatenating function into the worksheet. It crashes at the 8200 +/-row. My system is 2gb of ram, windows xp professional and Excel 2003. Have 4GB of disk space Hoping to find a VBA code that will conserve memory, and not crash like it does in excel. Thank you

• ASP.NET Server.Execute

  I'm having some problems with Server.Execute that I can't seem to find any details on. Page page = new WidgetProcessor(Widget); Server.Execute(page, htmlTextWriter, true); The Widget in the above code is a simple object that knows how to instantiate a usercontrol. The WidgetProcessor takes a Widget and adds the widgets control to the page. This works fine on the initial load, it doesn't seem to handle postbacks however; it never actually fires the user controls events, it just consistently returns the original page as if you had never posted back. I've found this article from 2003: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/817036, though I would think they would have fixed this by now. Any help would be appreciated.

• Cannot debug tests using Resharper

  Hi, I'm not able to debug my tests using Resharper-Debug option in my project. I have seen this issue raised by lots of people, but has't come across a solid suggestion which solves my issue. The strange thing is that, if I create a sample project and write a simple unit test, I'm able to debug it without any issues.However when I try to do this in my current project, it simply throws a dialog box saying "Cannot Launch Debugger".I have checked this with my peers, and they does't face this issue :( Also I don't have any issues while running the test. • Windows fonts not immediately useable in application after installing?

  Whenever I install a new font on a Windows 2003 server, I can't use it immediately in my asp.net web application. The application gets the font through the CreateFontIndirect gdi32.dll win api. It seems like fonts get cached somewhere, because I will just get the default font returned. The font cache gets updated after a reboot, and then I get the correct font, but obviously I wouldn't like to do a reboot on a production server just for getting a new font to work. Is there a way to flush the font cache?

  I have to code a desktop application and some dynamic web content. I'm planning to develop it in .NET with an Oracle database, though my dilemma is that my professor says that if I do so, there would be a lot of support issues later on. He says .NET is more compatible with MS SQL and MS Access, and so is the trend, everyone does it.Is it true? I have learnt Oracle so I know of a few features which I wouldn't be able to implement on SQL comfortably because of lack of knowledge of SQL databases.I would love to learn the new syntax but again, I don't have much time to spare.

• Does TCP actually define 'TCP server' and 'TCP clients'? [closed]

  In the Wikipedia article, TCP communication is explained using the terms 'client' and 'server'. It also uses the word 'peers'. But TCP actually does not define "TCP clients" and "TCP servers" - In the RFC 675 document (SPECIFICATION OF INTERNET TRANSMISSION CONTROL PROGRAM), the word "client" never appears. The RFC explains that TCP is used to connect processes over ports (sockets), and that 'A pair of sockets form a CONNECTION which can be used to carry data in either direction [i.e. full duplex]. Calling the originating party the "client" seems to be common practice. But this client/server communication model is not always applicable to TCP communication. For example take peer-to-peer networks. Calling all processes which open a socket (and wait for incoming connections from peers) "TCP servers", sounds wrong to me. I would not call my uncle's telephone device a "Telephony server" if I dial his phone number and he picks up.

  Hi, I am trying to parse an itunes affiliate xml link purely for practise, using NSXMLParser but the link will not parse. The normal itunes link I tried parsing: http://itunes.apple.com/%@/rss/%@/limit=50/genre=20/xml works perfectly with the NSXMLParser. Can anyone tell me why this is happening? Thanks in advanced.   Hello everybody. I want to achieve something like an expand and collapse uitableviewcell. The part of collapsing and expanding on user tap has been achieved. but what i am looking for is the feature of showing more and less. that is when the uitableviewcell has not expanded to show full view, the word more shud be displayed. and when the uitableviewcell is expanded it shud show the word less at the end. So that whenever the user taps on more, then only the uitableview shud expand and vice versa. so any ideas of how i can do this. something like on webpages. when u click on more link it expands the area and lets u see entire content.

  Hi all, In my project after long process, i got a 2 dimensional byte array from the IR camera. The byte array holds image in it... How to convert that byte array to image in C#.. I know that by MemoryStream ms = new MemoryStream(byteArray); System.drawing.Image im = Image.FromStream(ms); We can pass 1 dimensional array and convert it into image..   Hi, We've written several Outlook Add-ins for various projects and have now been asked to look at writing a Exchange server add-in. We will need to inspect all incoming / outgoing msgs and tag / file them into a document management system. If it's a message that we are interested in we would ideally like to change the default icon that is displayed in Outlook. We could I guess settle for Categorising / colour coding the email but we've been asked for a icon. Any guidance on how to get started / killer reference apps much appricaiated. • HRESULT exception not caught in VS 2008

  Hello all, I've got a stange situation in visual studio 2008 C++. I work on code that was originally written for visual studio 2003, where everything works well. Now, ported to VS 2008, the exception handling, which unfortuantely exists widely in the code, does not work anymore. standard code example: try { HRESULT hr = S_OK; // do stuff... if( FAILED( hr ) ) throw hr; } catch( HRESULT hr ) { // error handling, but we never get here } catch( ... ) { // ... not even here } Under VS 2008, no exception is encountered, but I get a crash somewhere else, indicating that the stack pointer must be screwed up. Did anybody come across this behaviour? Any help is appreciated.

  I am experimenting with SQL Server full text search. I have a simple Categories table with Id as the primary key: CREATE TABLE [dbo].[Category]( [Id] [int] IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL, [CategoryName] [varchar](100) NOT NULL, ) My Query is: SELECT * FROM FREETEXTTABLE (Category, CategoryName, 'music') AS F INNER JOIN Category C ON F.[Key] = C.Id ORDER BY F.Rank DESC This returns me several records with the word music in them, but it does NOT return any record with word ‘musical’. Although, it can be said that the string being searched is not very big and using the LIKE operator will resolve it. I would like to use fulltext search because this simple example is going to be extended to include other tables and fileds.
