I spent way too many hours on this one. I was going through full configuration of ADFS v2 with WCF active client scenarios and using self generated certificates, had all things lined up perfectly. Using the certificate snap in I just copied the thumbprint into the IdentityModel section (trusted issuers) in my service config. var one = "?ecb8fd950978d94ae21d4f073227fdc2718bdb96"; var two = "ecb8fd950978d94ae21d4f073227fdc2718bdb96"; What ended up is in the first, there’s a buried nonprintable series of characters (â€Ž – or E2 80 8E in 0x format). 2 lessons, turn on tracing sooner and don’t trust Copy & Paste – all the time. Recommended design pattern for object with optional and modifiable attributtes? [on hold]

I've been using the Builder pattern to create objects with a large number of attributes, where most of them are optional. But up until now, I've defined them as final, as recommended by Joshua Block and other authors, and haven't needed to change their values. I am wondering what should I do though if I need a class with a substantial number of optional but non-final (mutable) attributes? My Builder pattern code looks like this: public class Example { //All possible parameters (optional or not) private final int param1; private final int param2; //Builder class public static class Builder { private final int param1; //Required parameters private int param2 = 0; //Optional parameters - initialized to default //Builder constructor public Builder (int param1) { this.param1 = param1; } //Setter-like methods for optional parameters public Builder param2(int value) { param2 = value; return this; } //build() method public Example build() { return new Example(this); } } //Private constructor private Example(Builder builder) { param1 = builder.param1; param2 = builder.param2; } } Can I just remove the final keyword from the declaration to be able to access the attributes externally (through normal setters, for example)? Or is there a creational pattern that allows optional but non-final attributes that would be better suited in this case?

Basic SDL2 Code which "Stop working" when calling SDL_Quit() [migrated]

Using the debugger, I found that everything is fine until SDL_Quit() is called. Anyone has any idea why this is going on ? Thanks a lot !

Programmatically closing a dialog box - win32 [migrated]

I'm working on an application to detect a pop-up dialog and then automatically dismiss it. I'm writing this as a C++/Win32 app. The dialog box is generated by IE 7 and I can detect the window, but several methods to get the OK button to "click" have failed. Doing searches for other people's solutions, sending these messages to the button handle seems to have worked in a lot of situations: PostMessage( handle, WM_LBUTTONDOWN, 0, 0 ); PostMessage( handle, WM_LBUTTONUP, 0, 0 ); PostMessage( handle, BM_SETSTATE, 1, 0 ); It has no effect on the button state in my tests though. I can send tab characters to the main window and see that the OK button gets focus, but then sending return characters does nothing. To learn more about this I used Spy++ to get information about the window hierarchy and what messages are delievered when I manually click the OK button. Looking at the message log and reading about WM_MOUSEACTIVATE seamed to offer a solution. The log info shows that 0002166C was the button window. So in my code I tried this: GetClassNameA( handle, str, str_size ); if( strcmp( str, "Internet Explorer_Server" ) != 0 ) return TRUE; // Not the window we're interested in. // Send a message to activate the button window and have it process a mouse click. Tips for Making this Code Testable [migrated]

So I'm writing an abstraction layer that wraps a telephony RESTful service for sending text messages and making phone calls. I should build this in such a way that the low-level provider, in this case Twilio, can be easily swapped without having to re-code the higher level interactions. I'm using a package that is pre-built for Twilio and so I'm thinking that I need to create a wrapper interface to standardize the interaction between the Twilio service package and my application. Let us pretend that I cannot modify this pre-built package. Here are my questions: First off, do you think this is a good design? How could it be improved? Second, I'm having a hard time testing this because I need to mock out the Twilio package so that I'm not actually depending on Twilio's API for my tests to pass or fail. C# ASP.NET AJAX CascadingDropDown Selected value propriety problem

Greetings, I have a problem to use selected value propriety of CascadingDropDown. I have 3 asp dropdown controls with ajax CascadingDropDown for each one of them. I have no problem to bind data to the 3 CascadingDropDown but my problem is to rebind CascadingDropDown. simply what I want to do is to select a record from Gridview which has the selected values for the CascadingDropDown that I want to pass then rebind the CascadingDropDown with selected value. Solving embarassingly parallel problems using Python multiprocessing

How does one use multiprocessing to tackle embarrassingly parallel problems? Embarassingly parallel problems typically consist of three basic parts: Read input data (from a file, database, tcp connection, etc.). Run calculations on the input data, where each calculation is independent of any other calculation. Write results of calculations (to a file, database, tcp connection, etc.). We can parallelize the program in two dimensions: Part 2 can run on multiple cores, since each calculation is independent; order of processing doesn't matter. Each part can run independently. Part 1 can place data on an input queue, part 2 can pull data off the input queue and put results onto an output queue, and part 3 can pull results off the output queue and write them out. This seems a most basic pattern in concurrent programming, but I am still lost in trying to solve it, so let's write a canonical example to illustrate how this is done using multiprocessing. Here is the example problem: Given a CSV file with rows of integers as input, compute their sums. I would appreciate any insight here as to how you concurrency gurus would approach this problem. Here are some questions I had when thinking about this problem. Bonus points for addressing any/all: Should I have child processes for reading in the data and placing it into the queue, or can the main process do this without blocking until all input is read? Likewise, should I have a child process for writing the results out from the processed queue, or can the main process do this without having to wait for all the results? Should I use a processes pool for the sum operations? If yes, what method do I call on the pool to get it to start processing the results coming into the input queue, without blocking the input and output processes, too? apply_async()? map_async()? imap()? imap_unordered()? Suppose we didn't need to siphon off the input and output queues as data entered them, but could wait until all input was parsed and all results were calculated (e.g., because we know all the input and output will fit in system memory). Should we change the algorithm in any way (e.g., not run any processes concurrently with I/O)?

Reflect.Emit Dynamic Type Memory Blowup

Using C# 3.5 I am trying to generate dynamic types at runtime using reflection emit. I used the Dynamic Query Library sample from Microsoft to create a class generator. Everything works, my problem is that 100 generated types inflate the memory usage by approximately 25MB. This is a completely unacceptable memory profile as eventually I want to support having several hundred thousand types generated in memory. Memory profiling shows that the memory is apparently being held by various System.Reflection.Emit types and methods though I can't figure out why. I haven't found others talking about this problem so I am hoping someone in this community either knows what I am doing wrong or if this is expected behavior. The code below creates a nifty flyout menu action on a nested list item sequence. The client has called and wants the change the default behavior in which the flyouts are triggered by mouseover, so that you have to click to trigger a flyout. Ideally, I would just like to modify this code so that you click on a small icon (plus/minus) that sits to the right of the menu item if it has child menus. SocketChannel in Java sends data, but it doesn't get to destination application

Hi Everybody, I'm suffering a lot to create a simple ChatServer in Java, using the NIO libraries. Wonder if someone could help me. I am doing that by using SocketChannel and Selector to handle multiple clients in a single thread. The problem is: I am able to accept new connections and get it's data, but when I try to send data back, the SocketChannel simply doesn't work. In the method write(), it returns a integer that is the same size of the data i'm passing to it, but the client never receives that data. Strangely, when I close the server application, the client receives the data. It's like the socketchannel maintains a buffer, and it only get flushed when I close the application. Here are some more details, to give you more information to help. So, a client makes a TCP connection to the server, and once it gets accepted, it sends data to the server following a simply text protocol, informing his id and asking to get registrated to the server. I handle this in the method processIncomingDataFromNewClient(key). I'm also keeping a map of clients and its connections in a data structure similar to a hashtable. I? doing that because I need to recover a client Id from a connection and a connection from a client Id. This is can be shown in: clientsMap.getClient(key). But the problem itself resides in the method processIncomingDataFromNewClient(key). There, I simply read the data that the client sent to me, validate it, and if it's ok, I send a message back to the client to tell that it is connected to the chat server. So, the data never gets to it. When I close the server application, though, all the data appears in the client. I wonder why. It is important to say that the client is in C and the server JAVA, and I'm running both in the same machine, an Ubuntu Guest in virtualbox under windows. I also run both under windows host and under linuxes hosts, and keep getting the same strange problem. I'm sorry for the great lenght of this question, but I already searched a lot of places for an answer, found a lot of tutorials and questions, including here at StackOverflow, but coundn't find a reasonable explanation. I am really not liking this Java NIO, and i saw a lot of people complaining about it too.
