• Switching to Kubuntu results in low graphics mode

  I looked at some screen shots of Kubuntu and I liked it so I went to Synaptic and installed the kubuntu-desktop package and set my desktop window manager to kde and rebooted. After reboot, I saw Kubuntu splash screen then this message; running in Low Graphical Mode. Then I was not able to dismiss the message because my mouse did not work Seemingly How to Geek had the same problem http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/ubuntu/install-kde-kubuntu-on-ubuntu/ . You will probably see that your xorg.conf file was backed up to xorg.conf.1 during the ?KDE / Kubuntu installation. Just copy the xorg.conf.1 back to xorg.conf, reboot, and everything should be fine. I also tried to do that by booting into recovery mode and then droping onto the shell. But it would not let me rename, came up with some error.

Now suddenly from last two days it reduced the amount of traffic from 70% to 20% and also when I am trying to search for the exact posts that I can created even after appending my website name to it does not show any results for that. • Using a particular font in a commercial game

  I'm working on a game I intend to sell, and I want to use this font. The license says: "You may NOT copy or distribute the font outside of the licensed household, company, school or institution. Please ask external contacts who want to use the font to purchase their own license at www.CheapProFonts.com." However, my plans are to use a tool to output a texture using this font to use as a bitmap font in my game. Does this mean I can do so, and sell my game with the font in it?

• Unable to Connect MTS Mblaze modem in Ubuntu 12.10?

  I am using Ubuntu for 1st time and i do have an modem MTS Mblaze in India which i am using in Windows. But when i tried to connect in Ubuntu 12.10 using give default method i.e. choose country, modem type, connection, add details and then connect. But its not working. Then i came over another solution at http://www.e-dirts.com/2012/how-to-setup-mts-mblaze-usb-modem-in-ubuntu-gnulinux/ But no installation of CrossPlatformUI-V2.1.2-SSTL-ALL-ubuntu.deb happens at all. Is it because i'm using 12.10 version while its tested using 12.04 version. And does that another 'Advanced user method' can be followed without internet? Please suggest. Help

• Tiny Wings - Placing items

  I'm currently developing a Flash game like 'Tiny Wings'. I have a lot of work done, but i'm currently working on placing the items ( coins and obstacles ) on the terrain. My player it is moving on a auto-generated terrain (based on Emanuele Feronato's tutorials) so every time the player's x position is greater than (screenWidth + x) another hill is generated and so on. I'm currently having problems placing the items in a correct angle and put 5 or more items together on a hill. Could you please help me with this? Thanks, Regards. • Some websites are not opening. What should I do? [closed]

  Some websites are not opening in my system. I am using Ubuntu 11.04. Earlier, when I was using Ubuntu 10.01, there was no such issue. I have tried Firefox as well as Chromium and I am sure the issue is not with the browser. same websites are opening perfectly with Windows. Google, Twitter and Ubuntu related websites are running perfect. Other websites like www.downrightnow.com, easy-mantra.com are not opening. Installed Wubi on windows7 (32 bit). Ubuntu 12.10 is 64 bit. • Skeletal Animation - Automatically apply skeleton to model

  Looking at websites such as mixamo.com or some game's development systems such as the animation editor for Overgrowth (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-RpqbC5-Z0E), i see that the skeleton in these situations is automatically being applied to the models. I really don't expect (though wouldn't mind) code that does this, but i really am looking for some sort of pointer in the direction, or how they go about this. If any of you have done this, or know how to, please do reply, i don't want to spend the next week trying to crack it, then another to actually code it :P Thanks all :) Just for a bit more information, i am in C# working with OpenTK with my own custom model loader, etc. but i can easily adjust any given code / concept to fit with mine :)

  As a summer project I decided it would be fun to make a flash game. Right now I'm going for something like the look of http://www.terraria.org/. It's been a lot of fun, but today I've hit a snag. I need a way to generate my worlds. I've read up Perlin Noise ( http://freespace.virgin.net/hugo.elias/models/m_perlin.htm ) as a possibility, but I my attempts have given me sporadic looking results. What are some techniques used to generate these 2D tile-based worlds? Ideally I would like to be able to generate mountains, plains, and caves.

The procedure seems straight forward but I'm having issues validating my results in the Google Rich Snippets Testing Tool. Check out this review page, here I'm using the 'reviewRating' property item to specify rating values for that particular review. I followed the same format as defined in schema.org/Rating but this markup fails validation in Google's rich snippet testing tool with the following error info. However, by reading the paper you will start reading a query plan and you will understand how it works the optimization found by Chris Webb one month ago to the events-in-progress scenario. The white paper also contains a more optimized query (10 time faster), even if the performance depends on data distribution and the best choice really depends on the data you have. Now you should be curious enough to read the paper until the end, because the more optimized query is the last example in the paper!

• how does server communication work in a flash game with a php backend

  I am trying to create a browser game using actionscript/flash. Currently, I'm trying to understand how I would go about creating a back-end which interfaced with my MySQL database. As far as I understand, If I create a php file on a webserver called test.php and then navigate to a webpage hosted on the server eg. www.example.com/test, the php script will run and display the result in my browser. This would use http. Is this how communication between client and server usually works in a flash game? for example, if the game needed to query the db. Would actionscript have to essentially invoke the url of the php script that would execute the query? it could then parse the data and use it. If this is the case, then is JSON considered a good way to transfer data over http?

I DO NOT want to use someone else's library to learn this stuff, that bothers me SOOO much. So I was hoping there was a newer book that goes into detail, and doesn't use some sort of library "Hiding" everything from you. Or should I just look at older material? If so....anything thats not "too" out of date. Terrain tutorials are a plus (that's kinda my "goal"). Thanks
