  • Distributed Computing Framework (.NET) - Specifically for CPU Instensive operations

    - by StevenH
I am currently researching the options that are available (both Open Source and Commercial) for developing a distributed application. "A distributed system consists of multiple autonomous computers that communicate through a computer network." Wikipedia The application is focused on distributing highly cpu intensive operations (as opposed to data intensive) so I'm sure MapReduce solutions don't fit the bill. Any framework that you can recommend ( + give a brief summary of any experience or comparison to other frameworks ) would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  • create a YYYY-MM-DD Daterange in JScript/Javascript.

    - by Marcus
Hello. I need no generate a full daterange in JScript from a given Startdate to now. Startdate: 2010-03-25 2010-03-26 2010-03-27 ... 2010-05-30 I am very confused with Javascript Date. best would be a function to give a daterange as params and getting an Array of the formatted date back, something like that: range[0] = 2010-03-25 range[1] = 2010-03-26 range[2] = 2010-03-27 ... range[x] = 2010-05-30 I am so confused thanks for any hint marcus

  • Forcing the GC to collect JNI proxy objects

    - by SyBer
Hi. While I do my best to clean JNI objects to free native memory in the end of the usage, there are still some that hang around for a long time, wasting system native memory. Is there any way to force the GC to give priority in collection of these JNI proxies? I mean is there a way to cause GC to concentrate on a particular kind of object, namely the JNI proxies? Thanks.

  • Mimic Windows' 'Run' window in C#/.NET

    - by chaiguy
I would like to mimic the Run command in Windows in my program. In other words, I would like to give the user the ability to "run" an arbitrary piece of text exactly as would happen if they typed it into the run box. While System.Diagnostics.Process.Start() gets me close, I can't seem to get certain things like environment variables such as %AppData% working. I just keep getting the message "Windows cannot find '%AppData%'..."

  • Microsoft.Office.Interop.Word documentation

    - by rold2007
I need to use the Microsoft.Office.Interop.Word namespace to extract if a Word document contains macros, and which ones. The MSDN documentation for this namespace doesn't give much information compared to the documentation on other .Net classes. Where can I get more informations about this namespaces (examples, complete documentation, etc.). I already searched on Google and SO but didn't much information.
