• Which ATI driver version did 10.04 use?

  I have a trouble with ATI driver with Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. When I install ATI driver in Ubuntu 12.04 via "Additional Driver", then I can't shutdown Ubuntu, it showed blank (black) screen and my laptop still run. Sometimes, my screen like that: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U9_iygesbBM But when I install Ubuntu 10.04 and install ATI driver via "Additional Driver", it's very good and no trouble I've seen. It's sweet but 10.04 is old and is supported to 4/2013. So I want to know why Ubuntu 10.04 works good better than 12.04 with ATI driver (in my case)?

  I am going to do entity extraction (like Named Entity Recognition) from clinical free text (unstructured raw text such as discharge summaries) and these entities could be any medical problem, medical tests or treatments. I am going to use one of i2b2 datasets (https://www.i2b2.org/) if case you are familiar with that. I am new to the NLP(Natural Language Processing) field and I need a programming language to support NLP tasks and also easily connect to the available libraries of machine learning algorithms like CRF. I don't know much java and I heard about Python, Perl and Scala but I am not sure which one would be the best option for this task?

• Help slecting dedicated server with good disk I/O & network

  Hi, I am looking for a cheap dedicated server. (I was earlier happy with VPS, untill I realized that the disk I/O is not at all reliable and depends on what your neighbours are upto at the moment). I was browsing through http://www.lowenddedi.net/the-database I don't understand memory speed and NIC speed columns at all. What will be their affect? Do I need to worry about them?   One of the first ways I learned how to read xml data from external data sources was by using a DataSet’s ReadXML function. This function takes file path for an XML document and then converts it to a Dataset. This functionality is great when you need a simple way to process an XML document.  In addition the DataSet object also offers a simple way to save data in an xml format by using the WriteXML function. This function saves the current data in the DataSet to an XML file to be used later.   Hello, I'm watching The Bold and the beautiful on the site: http://www.tvp.pl/seriale/obyczajowe/moda-na-sukces/wideo Yesterday I wanted to view next episode, however it didn't work. I checked various episodes from other points in time and none works. The "dots" that appear when a Silverlight video is loading are present, but after them there is only black screen (of death). I'm using Ubuntu Lucid Lynx 32 bit with GNOME2 and firefox 3.6. I have all updates done. Could somebody check if any video is working for them and tell me their setup, please? I'm using Moonlight 3. Two days ago everything was fine but later this problem appeared.

  how can i move static box2d sprites. i have tried this tutorial from . http://www.raywenderlich.com/475/how-to-create-a-simple-breakout-game-with-box2d-and-cocos2d-tutorial-part-12. I managed to add another "paddle" object with box2d body, but i can seam to be able to make the code to move the second "paddle" body. Can anyone direct me how to do it? Is there a way to move a "b2_staticBody" box 2d object? i have tried, but i can only move it when i use "b2_dynamicBody" if i used "b2_staticBody" i can move it at all.

• Can I create a hybrid software-RAID array with disks of different sizes?

  Products such as Synology offer something called Synology Hybrid RAID http://www.synology.com/us/products/features/RAID.php This RAID type allows you to make best use of your disks available by using all the disk space available as long as at least two disks share the same increased size where a typical RAID setup would simply "throw away" the extra space I would like to build a NAS with 4 disks available. I will begin by populating it with 3 X 3TB to give me 6TB usable. By the time I have filled this 6TB I imagine that 4TB disks will have come down in price, so at this stage I would add a 4th 4TB disk to give me an additional 3TB of space. When I next run out of space I will change one of the original 3TB disks with a 4TB disk giving me an additional 1TB of space. This is not possible with a typical RAID configuration, only with these "hybrid RAID" types I am wondering if I can acheive a similar "hybrid RAID" with Ubuntu? or another linux distro?

  According to www.w3.org, a Web server should reply with status code 400 Bad Request if: "The request could not be understood by the server due to malformed syntax. The client SHOULD NOT repeat the request without modifications" Does that mean only request that violates some HTTP spec? Or does it include a request that my particular Web app thinks is broken? When would you reply 400? For example, if my Web app expects a query string to always include a "function=..." parameter, would you reply code 400 Bad Request or 403 Forbidden? (403 means that "The server understood the request, but is refusing to fulfill it.")

• Will Tracking Subdomains as Single Entity with Google Analytics Help SEO? [closed]

  Possible Duplicate: Does Google Analytics data affect SEO? We have two subdomains, one for our blog and one for our ecommerce store. The blog serves to bring traffic and the store is how we monetize the site. We have them designed to appear as one large site, but I know google sees them as two sites. Here is how the subdomains look: www.example.com (store) blog.example.com (blog) I believe I can configure analytics to use subdomain tracking as explained here: http://support.google.com/googleanalytics/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=55524 But my question is whether this will cause google to see our 2 subdomains as one larger domain for SEO purposes. In other words, is there any relationship to how you configure google analytics and how google indexes and ranks your website(s) and pages? • Lenovo u400, Ubuntu 12.04. Sudden reboots / power down

  I've recently bought a Lenovo u400 (http://www.lenovo.com/products/us/laptop/ideapad/u-series/u400/) and installed Ubuntu 12.04 on it. Everything works fine (I've installed the proprietary ATI drivers for switchable graphics) except that I get a random power down or reboot either while surfing the web or watching videos. Monitoring the temperature with sensors, the laptop never goes into any critical zone but still may power down or reboot once in a while. Is there any logs that I should check and any particular message I should take note of? EDIT: This happens to me as well. This also happens without proprietary drivers activated.

• Conecting bash script with a txt file

  I have a txt file with 100+ lines called page1.txt; odd lines are urls and even lines are url names. I have a bash file already created that checks urls for completion. Except right now, the process is really manual because I have to modify the bash every time I need to check a url. So I need to connect the bash to the txt using the variable url. $url should get all the odd lines from page1.txt and check if the link is complete or not. Also, how would I write a variable called name that derives from the url the 7 digits? bash file manually: url=http://www.-------------/-/8200233/1/ name=8200233 lynx -dump $url > $name.txt I would prefer if the bash file could add "Complete/In-Complete " at the beginning of every even line in the page1.txt file but a new text file could be also created to keep track of the Completes/In-completes.

• Why does qt-creator need to connect to google-analytics?

  I just installed qt-creator to work on non-qt C++ projects. The installed version is 2.5.0 (Based on Qt 4.8.2 32-bit) If I click on any of these pages: I get this error: I realized that /etc/hosts file has the following entry: 127.0.0.1 www.google-analytics.com I don't want to remove the entry from the hosts file because it's always been there along with thousands of other similar adservices/porn/malware addresses. I do not intend to say that qt-creator is looking to create problems in my computer, but I am genuinely interested to know why qt-creator needs to connect to google-analytics? Can this be disabled and qt-creator can still be functional?

  there are a couple of concerts that I would very much like to view from Arte (I think it's a french TV channel?) but my connection is not good enough to stream the video. How can I download the file to play it locally? Here is an example link: http://www.my-jazzlive.tv/?p=1862 I have tried popular browser plugins such as DownloadHelper and Flash Video Downloader, these are working fine for me on sites such as youtube but they don't seem to recognise any stream from the Arte video player. • Alternative way of developing for ASP.NET to WebForms - Any problems with this?

  So I have been developing in ASP.NET WebForms for some time now but often get annoyed with all the overhead (like ViewState and all the JavaScript it generates), and the way WebForms takes over a lot of the HTML generation. Sometimes I just want full control over the markup and produce efficient HTML of my own so I have been experimenting with what I like to call HtmlForms. Essentially this is using ASP.NET WebForms but without the form runat="server" tag. Without this tag, ASP.NET does not seem to add anything to the page at all. From some basic tests it seems that it runs well and you still have the ability to use code-behind pages, and many ASP.NET controls such as repeaters. Of course without the form runat="server" many controls won't work. A post at Enterprise Software Development lists the controls that do require the tag. From that list you will see that all of the form elements like TextBoxes, DropDownLists, RadioButtons, etc cannot be used. Instead you use normal HTML form controls. But how do you access these HTML controls from the code behind? Retrieving values on post back is easy, you just use Request.QueryString or Request.Form. But passing data to the control could be a little messy. Do you use a ASP.NET Literal control in the value field or do you use <%= value % in the markup page? Interestingly you can also use HttpPostedFile to handle file uploads using your own input type="file" control (and necessary form enctype="multipart/form-data"). So my question is can you see any problems with this method, and any thoughts on it's usefulness? I have further details and tests on my blog.
