How can I use foreign keys in relation to this? I'm not sure if this will work for my script, but am willing to try. I want to be able to mix expressions of the same calculus but not be allowed to mix expressions of different ones. So far, so good. I can create my calculus instances, but problem is that I can not write functions in other classes that manipulate them. For example, I am trying to create a parser to read expressions from a file and return them; I also was trying to write an random expression generator to use in my tests with ScalaCheck. Turns out that every time a function generates an Expr object I can't use it outside the function. Even if I create the Calculus instance and pass it as an argument to the function that will in turn generate the Expr objects, the return of the function is not recognized as being of the same type of the objects created outside the function. The proposed solution was to change the signature of the function to: def genRndExpr[E, C <: Calculus[E]](c: C, level: Int): C#Expr I changed the signature for all the functions involved: getRndExpr, getRndVal and getRndVar. And I got the same error message everywhere I call these functions and got the following error message: error: inferred type arguments [Nothing,C] do not conform to method genRndVar's type parameter bounds [E,C genRndVar(c) Since the compiler seemed to be unable to figure out the right types I changed all function call to be like below: case 0 => new c.Neg(genRndExpr[E,C](c, level+1)) After this, on the first 2 function calls (genRndVal and genRndVar) there were no compiling error, but on the following 3 calls (recursive calls to genRndExpr), where the return of the function is used to build a new Expr object I got the following error: error: type mismatch; found : C#Expr required: c.Expr case 0 = new c.Neg(genRndExpr[E,C](c, level+1)) So, again, I'm stuck.     I have a VB6 app. It consists of a flexgrid. I have code to allow the user to press the up or down arrow key to switch rows in the grid. When the down arrow key is pressed the cursor is placed at the end of the text in the next row, but when the Up arrow key is pressed the cursor is placed in the middle of the text of the previous row. Anybody have any explantion for this.   • Perl not closing TCP sockets if clients are no longer connected?

    The purpose of the application is to listen for a specific UDP multicast and then to forward the data to any TCP clients connected to the server. The code works fine, but I have a problem with the sockets not closing after the TCP clients disconnects. A socketsniffer utility shows the the sockets remain open and all the UDP data continues to be forwarded to the clients. The problem I believe is with the "if ($write-connected())" block as it always return true, even if the TCP client is no longer connected. I use standard Windows Telnet to connect to the server and to see the data. When I close telnet, the TCP socket is suppose to close on the server. Any reason why connected() show the connections as active even if they are not? Also, what alternative should I use then?   • jquery scope issue

    I am having issue with the following: I can't seem to keep the link I am selecting in each repeated item. The word "this" is getting lost. the Var event_id works for each element, but the var $something is undefined? Why is that, Ideally I wanted to do a switch statement but same issue, can't seem to get it to know what link I click and the elements around it to do the action.   • Generated LinqtoSql Sql 5x slower than SAME EXACT hand-written sql

    I have a sql statement which is hardcoded in an existing VB6 app. I'm upgrading a new version in C# and using Linq To Sql. I was able to get LinqToSql to generate the same sql (before I start refactoring), but for some reason the Sql generated by LinqToSql is 5x slower than the original sql. This is running the generated Sql Directly in LinqPad. The only real difference my meager sql eyes can spot is the WITH (NOLOCK), which if I add into the LinqToSql generated sql, makes no difference. Can someone point out what I'm doing wrong here? Thanks!   • ValidationProperty not returning entered value for textbox in custom ontrol

    Hey Everyone, Here is my current problem. I am working with the chat module and I'm building a module that notifies users via AJAX that they have been invited to a chat. When an invite is found, I set the notified from 0 to 1. However, my problem is the periodical updater. When I first see that there is an invite, I notify the user, and set notified to 1. On the next select though, I get the same results before, as if the update didn't work. But, when I got check the database, I can see that it worked just fine. It's as if the query is querying a cache, but I can't figure it out.     I am newbee with PHP and MySQL and need help... I have two tables (Staff and Position) in the database. The Staff table (StaffId, Name, PositionID (fk)). The Position table is populated with different positions (Manager, Supervisor, and so on). The two tables are linked with a PositionID foreign key in the Staff table. I have a staff registration form with textfields asking for the relevant attributes and a dynamically populated drop down list to choose the position. I need to insert the user's entry into the staff table along with the selected position.     I have a spread sheet that I send out to various locations to have information on it updated and then sent back to me. However, I had to put validation and lock the cells to force users to input accurate information. Then I can to use VBA to disable the work around of cut copy and paste functions. And additionally I inserted a VBA function to force users to open the excel file in Macros. Now I'm trying to track the changes so that I know what was updated when I recieve the sheet back. However everytime i do this I get an error when someone savesthe document and randomly it will lock me out of the document completely. I have my code pasted below, can some one help me create code in the VBA forum to highlight changes instead of through excel's share/track changes option?   • ValidationProperty not returning entered value for textbox

  • WPF: Binding to ListBoxItem.IsSelected doesn't work for off-screen items

    In my program I have a set of view-model objects to represent items in a ListBox (multi-select is allowed). The viewmodel has an IsSelected property that I would like to bind to the ListBox so that selection state is managed in the viewmodel rather than in the listbox itself. However, apparently the ListBox doesn't maintain bindings for most of the off-screen items, so in general the IsSelected property is not synchronized correctly. Here is some code that demonstrates the problem. If you click the first item and then press Shift+End, all 200 items should be selected; however, the heading reports that only 21 items are selected. If you click "Select all" then all items are indeed selected. If you then click an item in the ListBox you would expect the other 199 items to be deselected, but this does not happen. Instead, only the items that are on the screen (and a few others) are deselected. All 199 items will not be deselected unless you first scroll through the list from beginning to end (and even then, oddly enough, it doesn't work if you perform scrolling with the little scroll box). My questions are: Can someone explain precisely why this occurs? Can I avoid or work around the problem?

  • CSS - Can't get the z-index to apply correctly in Internet Explorer

    I've written a jQuery script to replace <select /> elements with some DIV's and UL's allowing my to simulate the original SELECT but also allow me to style it. So far, aside from a few minor bugs, it works rather nicely. However, in Internet Explorer, the 'options' div is getting rendered underneath the elements below the div.   • Create a named cell dynamically

    I have a workbook with 3 worksheets. 1 worksheet will have input values (not created at the moment and not needed for this question), 1 worksheet with several "template" or "source" tables, and the last worksheet has 4 formatted "target" tables (empty or not doesn't matter). Each template table has 3 columns, 1 column identifying what the values are for in the second 2 columns. The value columns have formulas in them and each cell is Named. The formulas use the cell Names rather than cell address (e.g. MyData1 instead of C2). I am trying to copy the templates into the target tables while also either copying the cell Names from the source into the targets or create the Names in the target tables based on the source cell Names. My code below I am creating the target names by using a "base" in the Name that will be changed depending on which target table it gets copied to. my sample tables have "Num0_" for a base in all the cell names (e.g. Num0_MyData1, Num0_SomeOtherData2, etc). Once the copy has completed the code will then name the cells by looking at the target Names (and address), replacing the base of the name with a new base, just adding a number of which target table it goes to, and replacing the sheet name in the address. Here's where I need help. The way I am changing that address will only work if my template and target are using the same cell addresses of their perspective sheets. Which they are not. (e.g. Template1 table has value cells, each named, of B2 thru C10, and my target table for the copy may be F52 thur G60). Bottom line I need to figure out how to copy those names over with the templates or name the cells dynamically by doing something like a replace where I am incrementing the address value based on my target table #...remember I have 4 target tables which are static, I will only copy to those areas. I am a newbie to vba so any suggestions or help is appreciated. NOTE: The copying of the table works as I want.   • Normalizing a table

    I have a legacy table, which I can't change. The values in it can be modified from legacy application (application also can't be changed). Due to a lot of access to the table from new application (new requirement), I'd like to create a temporary table, which would hopefully speed up the queries. The actual requirement, is to calculate number of business days from X to Y. For example, give me all business days from Jan 1'st 2001 until Dec 24'th 2004. The table is used to mark which days are off, as different companies may have different days off - it isn't just Saturday + Sunday) The temporary table would be created from a .NET program, each time user enters the screen for this query (user may run query multiple times, with different values, table is created once), so I'd like it to be as fast as possible. Approach below runs in under a second, but I only tested it with a small dataset, and still it takes probably close to half a second, which isn't great for UI - even though it's just the overhead for first query. I'd like the new table to look like so: create table #Temp (country varchar(3), state varchar(4), date datetime, hours int) And I'd like to only have rows for days which are off (marked with X or H from previous query) What I ended up doing, so far is this: Create a temporary-intermediate table, that looks like this: create table #Temp_2 (country_code varchar(3), state_code varchar(4), calendar_year int, calendar_month varchar(31), month_code int) To populate it, I have a union which basically unions calendar_month, calendar_month2, calendar_month3, etc. Than I have a loop which loops through all the rows in #Temp_2, after each row is processed, it is removed from #Temp_2. To process the row there is a loop from 1 to 31, and substring(calendar_month, counter, 1) is checked for either X or H, in which case there is an insert into #Temp table. It runs pretty fast, but I'm hesitant to call a function, if I can instead add a simpler query to get result. (I'm currently trying this on MSSQL, but I would need to do same for Sybase ASE and Oracle)

    Hello, I am trying to learn how to write cookies to keep the data in my CookieButton1 button persistent and to survive refreshes and page reloads. How can I do this in JavaScript? I have supplied my source code. Any advise, links or tutorials will be very helpful. If you navigate to http://iqlusion.net/test.html and click on Empty1, it will start to ask you questions. When finished it stores everything into CookieButton1. But when I refresh my browser the data resets and goes away.
