  • simple yet secure encrypt / decrypt asp to asp.net

    First post here. I have a asp/vb6 web app that logs in a user I want to encrypt the users identity field and pass(querystring) it to a asp.net app and then decrypt it to do a db lookup. I've google'd it of course and found rot13, not secure enough. I've also found some hits on MD5 / RC4 but did not find any good examples of encrypt / decrypt. Thanks, Michael

    Say I have this url: http://site.example/dir/ In this folder I have these files: test.ascx.cs and test.ascx Just to be clear, I am not a .NET developer. From a security point of view - why can't I access http://site.example/dir/test.ascx.cs and how secure is it to keep those files there? I assume IIS filters out request that query these kind of files, but can someone explain me this? Thank you.

However, it seems that adding an RSS feed to Outlook for the URL elmah.axd/rss or elmah.axd/digestrss bypasses the authentication. What's the point of securing the handler if someone can guess the RSS URL and subscribe to a feed of the error log?

    Hi, I need to change the code of some asp.net application but the application is missing its .cs files, there are only .aspx files. As I read in google, I understand that the application is a precompiled website. I am not too familiar with it so the question is, can I somehow retrieve the code-behind .cs files of this application because I need to change some functions there.   • MVC keeping the PartialView in its own context - ignore the main view holding the partial view

    I'm looking at the partialview components of the MVC Framework. i want my partial view to be handled in its own action and for the rest of the view to handle itself, but i'm getting an exception because the main page is not getting its view fired. Am i going around this the wrong way? Rather then having all the form submitting code in the main action for the view. am i do this wrong?
