  • How to get a debug flow of execution in C++

    - by Rich
    Hi, I work on a global trading system which supports many users. Each user can book,amend,edit,delete trades. The system is regulated by a central deal capture service. The deal capture service informs all the user of any updates that occur. The problem comes when we have crashes, as the production environment is impossible to re-create on a test system, I have to rely on crash dumps and log files. However this doesn't tell me what the user has been doing. I'd like a system that would (at the time of crashing) dump out a history of what the user has been doing. Anything that I add has to go into the live environment so it can't impact performance too much. Ideas wise I was thinking of a MACRO at the top of each function which acted like a stack trace (only I could supply additional user information, like trade id's, user dialog choices, etc ..) The system would record stack traces (on a per thread basis) and keep a history in a cyclic buffer (varying in size, depending on how much history you wanted to capture). Then on crash, I could dump this history stack. I'd really like to hear if anyone has a better solution, or if anyone knows of an existing framework? Thanks Rich

  • How do you unit test new code that uses a bunch of classes that cannot be instantiated in a test har

    - by trendl
    I'm writing a messaging layer that should handle communication with a third party API. The API has a bunch of classes that cannot be easily (if at all) instantiated in a test harness. I decided to wrap each class that I need in my unit tests with an adapter/wrapper and expose the members I need through this adapter class. Often I need to expose the wrapped type as well which I do by exposing it as an object. I have also provided an interface for for each or the adapter classes to be able to use them with a mocking framework. This way I can substitute the classes in test for whatever I need. The downside is that I have a bunch of adapter classes that so far server no other reason but testing. For me this is a good reason by itself but others may find this not enough. Possibly, when I write an implementation for another third party vendor's API, I may be able to reuse much of my code and only provide the adapters specific to the vendor's API. However, this is a bit of a long shot and I'm not actually sure it will work. What do you think? Is this approach viable or am I writing unnecessary code that serves no real purpose? Let me say that I do want to write unit tests for my messaging layer and I do now know how to do it otherwise.

  • C# Dynamic From Components (Performance problem)

    - by Svisstack
    Hello, I have a problem with performance of my code under Windows Forms. Have a form, her layout is depending on constructor data, because he layout must be OnLoad or in Constructor generated. I generation is simple, base FlowLayoutPanel have other FlowLayoutPanels, for each have a Label and TextBox with DataBinding. Problem is this is VERY SLOW, up to 20 seconds, i drawing less than 100 controls, from Performace Session i know a problem is on 70% procesing functions: System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlCollection.Add(class System.Windows.Forms.Control) System.Windows.Forms.ControlBindingsCollection.Add(class System.Windows.Forms.Binding) How i can do with this? Anyone help me in this problem? How solve the dynamic form layout problem?

  • Cannot Generate ParameterSetMetadata While Programmatically Creating A Parameter Block

    - by Steven Murawski
    I'm trying to programmatically create a parameter block for a function ( along the lines of this blog post ). I'm starting with a CommandMetadata object (from an existing function). I can create the ParameterMetadata object and set things like the ParameterType, the name, as well as some attributes. The problem I'm running into is that when I use the GetParamBlock method of the ProxyCommand class, none of my attributes that I set in the Attributes collection of the ParameterMetadata are generated. The problem this causes is that when the GetParamBlock is called, the new parameter is not annotated with the appropriate Parameter attribute. Example: function test { [CmdletBinding()] param ( [Parameter()] $InitialParameter) Write-Host "I don't matter." } $MetaData = New-Object System.Management.Automation.CommandMetaData (get-command test) $NewParameter = New-Object System.Management.Automation.ParameterMetadata 'NewParameter' $NewParameter.ParameterType = [string[]] $Attribute = New-Object System.Management.Automation.ParameterAttribute $Attribute.Position = 1 $Attribute.Mandatory = $true $Attribute.ValueFromPipeline = $true $NewParameter.Attributes.Add($Attribute) $MetaData.Parameters.Add('NewParameter', $NewParameter) [System.Management.Automation.ProxyCommand]::GetParamBlock($MetaData)

    I am working at gaining an understanding at how to interface stored procedures with applications. My example is simple, but it doesn't display my columns and rows in the command prompt, instead it display System.Data.SqlClient.SqlDataReader. How do I display the rows from my stored procudure? ----Stored Proc-- ALTER PROCEDURE dbo.SelectID AS SELECT * FROM tb_User; ----- Below is the code: using System; using System.Data.SqlClient; using System.IO; namespace ExecuteStoredProc { class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { SqlConnection cnnUserMan; SqlCommand cmmUser; //SqlDataReader drdUser; //Instantiate and open the connection cnnUserMan = new SqlConnection("Data Source=.\\SQLEXPRESS;AttachDbFilename=c:\\Program Files\\Microsoft SQL Server\\MSSQL10.SQLEXPRESS\\MSSQL\\DATA\\UserDB.mdf; Integrated Security=True;Connect Timeout=30;User Instance=True"); cnnUserMan.Open(); //Instantiate and initialize command cmmUser = new SqlCommand("SelectID", cnnUserMan); cmmUser.CommandType = System.Data.CommandType.StoredProcedure; //drdUser = cmmUser.ExecuteReader(); Console.WriteLine(cmmUser.ExecuteReader()); Console.ReadLine(); } } } Thanks.

  • Problems with with A* algorithm

    - by V_Programmer
    I'm trying to implement the A* algorithm in Java. I followed this tutorial,in particular, this pseudocode: http://theory.stanford.edu/~amitp/GameProgramming/ImplementationNotes.html The problem is my code doesn't work. It goes into an infinite loop. I really don't know why this happens... I suspect that the problem are in F = G + H function implemented in Graph constructors. I suspect I am not calculate the neighbor F correclty. Here's my code: List<Graph> open; List<Graph> close; private void createRouteAStar(Unit u) { open = new ArrayList<Graph>(); close = new ArrayList<Graph>(); u.ai_route_endX = 11; u.ai_route_endY = 5; List<Graph> neigh; int index; int i; boolean finish = false; Graph current; int cost; Graph start = new Graph(u.xMap, u.yMap, 0, ManhattanDistance(u.xMap, u.yMap, u.ai_route_endX, u.ai_route_endY)); open.add(start); current = start; while(!finish) { index = findLowerF(); current = new Graph(open, index); System.out.println(current.x); System.out.println(current.y); if (current.x == u.ai_route_endX && current.y == u.ai_route_endY) { finish = true; } else { close.add(current); neigh = current.getNeighbors(); for (i = 0; i < neigh.size(); i++) { cost = current.g + ManhattanDistance(current.x, current.y, neigh.get(i).x, neigh.get(i).y); if (open.contains(neigh.get(i)) && cost < neigh.get(i).g) { open.remove(open.indexOf(neigh)); } else if (close.contains(neigh.get(i)) && cost < neigh.get(i).g) { close.remove(close.indexOf(neigh)); } else if (!open.contains(neigh.get(i)) && !close.contains(neigh.get(i))) { neigh.get(i).g = cost; neigh.get(i).f = cost + ManhattanDistance(neigh.get(i).x, neigh.get(i).y, u.ai_route_endX, u.ai_route_endY); neigh.get(i).setParent(current); open.add(neigh.get(i)); } } } } System.out.println("step"); for (i=0; i < close.size(); i++) { if (close.get(i).parent != null) { System.out.println(i); System.out.println(close.get(i).parent.x); System.out.println(close.get(i).parent.y); } } } private int findLowerF() { int i; int min = 10000; int minIndex = -1; for (i=0; i < open.size(); i++) { if (open.get(i).f < min) { min = open.get(i).f; minIndex = i; System.out.println("min"); System.out.println(min); } } return minIndex; } private int ManhattanDistance(int ax, int ay, int bx, int by) { return Math.abs(ax-bx) + Math.abs(ay-by); } And, as I've said. I suspect that the Graph class has the main problem. However I've not been able to detect and fix it. public class Graph { int x, y; int f,g,h; Graph parent; public Graph(int x, int y, int g, int h) { this.x = x; this.y = y; this.g = g; this.h = h; this.f = g + h; } public Graph(List<Graph> list, int index) { this.x = list.get(index).x; this.y = list.get(index).y; this.g = list.get(index).g; this.h = list.get(index).h; this.f = list.get(index).f; this.parent = list.get(index).parent; } public Graph(Graph gp) { this.x = gp.x; this.y = gp.y; this.g = gp.g; this.h = gp.h; this.f = gp.f; } public Graph(Graph gp, Graph parent) { this.x = gp.x; this.y = gp.y; this.g = gp.g; this.h = gp.h; this.f = g + h; this.parent = parent; } public List<Graph> getNeighbors() { List<Graph> aux = new ArrayList<Graph>(); aux.add(new Graph(x+1, y, g,h)); aux.add(new Graph(x-1, y, g,h)); aux.add(new Graph(x, y+1, g,h)); aux.add(new Graph(x, y-1, g,h)); return aux; } public void setParent(Graph g) { parent = g; } } Little Edit: Using the System.out and the Debugger I discovered that the program ALWAYS is check the same "current" graph, (15,8) which is the (u.xMap, u.yMap) position. Looks like it keeps forever in the first step.

  • Java: Multithreading & UDP Socket Programming

    - by Ravi
    I am new to multithreading & socket programming in Java. I would like to know what is the best way to implement 2 threads - one for receiving a socket and one for sending a socket. If what I am trying to do sounds absurd, pls let me know why! The code is largely inspired from Sun's tutorials online.I want to use Multicast sockets so that I can work with a multicast group. class server extends Thread { static protected MulticastSocket socket = null; protected BufferedReader in = null; public InetAddress group; private static class receive implements Runnable { public void run() { try { byte[] buf = new byte[256]; DatagramPacket pkt = new DatagramPacket(buf,buf.length); socket.receive(pkt); String received = new String(pkt.getData(),0,pkt.getLength()); System.out.println("From server@" + received); Thread.sleep(1000); } catch (IOException e) { System.out.println("Error:"+e); } catch (InterruptedException e) { System.out.println("Error:"+e); } } } public server() throws IOException { super("server"); socket = new MulticastSocket(4446); group = InetAddress.getByName("239.231.12.3"); socket.joinGroup(group); } public void run() { while(1>0) { try { byte[] buf = new byte[256]; DatagramPacket pkt = new DatagramPacket(buf,buf.length); //String msg = reader.readLine(); String pid = ManagementFactory.getRuntimeMXBean().getName(); buf = pid.getBytes(); pkt = new DatagramPacket(buf,buf.length,group,4446); socket.send(pkt); Thread t = new Thread(new receive()); t.start(); while(t.isAlive()) { t.join(1000); } sleep(1); } catch (IOException e) { System.out.println("Error:"+e); } catch (InterruptedException e) { System.out.println("Error:"+e); } } //socket.close(); } public static void main(String[] args) throws IOException { new server().start(); //System.out.println("Hello"); } }

  • Is it possible to write a Java printf statement that prints the statement itself?

    - by polygenelubricants
    Is it possible to have a Java printf statement, whose output is the statement itself? Some snippet to illustrate: // attempt #1 public class Main { public static void main(String[] args) { System.out.printf("something"); } } This prints something. So the output of attempt #1 is not quite exactly the printf statement in attempt #1. We can try something like this: // attempt #2 public class Main { public static void main(String[] args) { System.out.printf("System.out.printf(\"something\");"); } } And now the output is System.out.printf("something"); So now the output of attempt #2 matches the statement in output #1, but we're back to the problem we had before, since we need the output of attempt #2 to match the statement in attempt #2. So is it possible to write a one-line printf statement that prints itself?

  • Inconsistent Behavior From Declared DLL Function

    - by Steven
    Why might my GetRawData declared function return a correct value when called from my VB.NET application, but return zero when called from my ASP.NET page? The code is exactly the same except for class type difference (Form / Page) and calling event handler (Form1_Load, Page_Load). Note: In the actual code, #DLL# and #RAWDATAFILE# are both absolute filenames to my DLL and raw data file respectively. Note: The DLL file was not created by Visual Studio. • c# how to set up and use session state from preinit

    - by Praesagus
    OK so to set and read variables from the current session String Myvar =(string) System.Web.HttpContext.Current.Session[“MyVariable”] To set System.Web.HttpContext.Current.Session[“MyVariable”] = “NewValue” I can do neither, I get a System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. from System.Web.HttpContext.Current.Session. In my web.config I have <sessionState mode="StateServer" stateConnectionString="tcpip=127.0.0.1:42424" cookieless="false" timeout="20"> </sessionState> I have read a dozen articles on the the necessity of IHttpHandler and an IRequiresSessionState interface. I think the issue may be caused because I am requesting this information in Page_PreInit. I found a solution in a stack overflow article but I don't seem be using it properly to actually make this go. I am not sure what I am missing. Thanks in advance.

  • Processes Allocation in .Net

    - by mayap
    I'm writing some program which should perform calculations concurrently according to inputs which reach the system all the time. I'm considering 2 approaches to allocate "calculation" processes: Allocating processes in the system initialization, insert the ids to Processes table, and each time I want to perform calculation, I will check in the table which process is free. The questions: can I be sure that those processes are only for my use and that the operating system doesn't use them? Not allocating processes in advance. Each time when calculation should be done ask the operating system for free process. I need to know the following inputs from a "calculation" process: When calculation is finished and also if it succeeded or failed If a processes has failed I need to assign the calculation to another process Thanks in advance. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Detecting user-activity on mac os x

    I use the function "IOPMSchedulePowerEvent" to schedule Sleep or Wake-Events and registered my daemon with "IORegisterForSystemPower" to receive power-state-changes. Everything works fine! When system going sleep and later waking up at scheduled time, my daemon do some work, and after it system should going sleep again. Now my questions: How can i detect, if the system was awaked by user or by the scheduled time? How can i detect, if a user currently working with the system, so the daemon have not to put it in sleep-mode??? Thanks Nobik

  • Where are possible locations of queueing/buffering delays in Linux multicast?

    - by Matt
    We make heavy use of multicasting messaging across many Linux servers on a LAN. We are seeing a lot of delays. We basically send an enormous number of small packages. We are more concerned with latency than throughput. The machines are all modern, multi-core (at least four, generally eight, 16 if you count hyperthreading) machines, always with a load of 2.0 or less, usually with a load less than 1.0. The networking hardware is also under 50% capacity. The delays we see look like queueing delays: the packets will quickly start increasing in latency, until it looks like they jam up, then return back to normal. The messaging structure is basically this: in the "sending thread", pull messages from a queue, add a timestamp (using gettimeofday()), then call send(). The receiving program receives the message, timestamps the receive time, and pushes it in a queue. In a separate thread, the queue is processed, analyzing the difference between sending and receiving timestamps. (Note that our internal queues are not part of the problem, since the timestamps are added outside of our internal queuing.) We don't really know where to start looking for an answer to this problem. We're not familiar with Linux internals. Our suspicion is that the kernel is queuing or buffering the packets, either on the send side or the receive side (or both). But we don't know how to track this down and trace it. For what it's worth, we're using CentOS 4.x (RHEL kernel 2.6.9).

  • C# AES returns wrong Test Vectors

  • SSL_accept hangs... sometimes ( C, linux, openssl )

    - by zbigh
    I'm currently working on an embedded linux system. There are two crucial client applications on the system that connect to an external server ( on another embedded system, all written in C ). The two apps use different certificates. The ssl connection works... At least usually, but from time to time an error occures: the server hangs on SSL_accept() when accepting connection from one of the applications - the one using older certificates. Restarting the server application does not help, nor does restarting the client - the only way is to reboot the server system, unless I create a symbilic link to the new certificates used by the other app - only then will restarting the server app work. Never does the error occur when both applications use the same, new certificate. Could this happen due to some strange openssl cache or something like that?

Whenever I'm trying to redefine a variable, a = 5, to a = 6, I get an index out of bounds error. public static void main(String args[]) { LinkedHashMap<String,Integer> map = new LinkedHashMap<String,Integer>(); Scanner scan = new Scanner(System.in); ArrayList<Integer> values = new ArrayList<>(); ArrayList<String> variables = new ArrayList<>(); while(scan.hasNextLine()) { String line = scan.nextLine(); String[] tokens = line.split(" "); if(!Character.isDigit(tokens[0].charAt(0)) && !line.equals("clear") && !line.equals("var")) { int value = 0; for(int i=0; i<tokens.length; i++) { if(tokens.length==3) { value = Integer.parseInt(tokens[2]); System.out.printf("%5d\n",value); if(map.containsKey(tokens[0])) { values.set(values.indexOf(tokens[0]), value); variables.set(variables.indexOf(tokens[0]), tokens[0]); } else { values.add(value); } break; } else if(tokens[i].charAt(0) == '+') { value = addition(tokens, value); System.out.printf("%5d\n",value); variables.add(tokens[0]); if(map.containsKey(tokens[0])) { values.set(values.indexOf(tokens[0]), value); variables.set(variables.indexOf(tokens[0]), tokens[0]); } else { values.add(value); } break; } else if(i==tokens.length-1 && tokens.length != 3) { System.out.println("No operation"); break; } } map.put(tokens[0], value); } if(Character.isDigit(tokens[0].charAt(0))) { int value = 0; if(tokens.length==1) { System.out.printf("%5s\n", tokens[0]); } else { value = addition(tokens, value); System.out.printf("%5d\n", value); } } if(line.equals("clear")) { clear(map); } if(line.equals("var")) { variableList(variables, values); } } } public static int addition(String[] a, int b) { for(String item : a) { if(Character.isDigit(item.charAt(0))) { int add = Integer.parseInt(item); b = b + add; } } return b; } public static void clear(LinkedHashMap<String,Integer> b) { b.clear(); } public static void variableList(ArrayList<String> a, ArrayList<Integer> b) { for(int i=0; i<a.size(); i++) { System.out.printf("%5s: %d\n", a.get(i), b.get(i)); } } I included the whole code because I'm not sure where the error is arising from.

  • why create CLSID_CaptureGraphBuilder2 instance always failed in a machine

    - by Yigang Wu
    It's a real strange issue, the machine information below is from DXDiag. There is no error reported, but create CLSID_CaptureGraphBuilder2 instance always failed in the machine. It's okay to create CLSID_FilterGraph. Before create CLSID_CaptureGraphBuilder2, I have called CoInitialize and created CLSID_FilterGraph. Only this machine has the error, what dll related with this interface or any function needed to call before to make it work? Thanks in advance. • Creating a C++ DLL and then using it in C#

    - by Major
    Ok I'm trying to make a C++ DLL that I can then call and reference in a c# App. I've already made a simple dll using the numberous guides out there, however when I try to reference it in the C# app I get the error Unable to load DLL 'SDES.dll': The specified module could not be found. The code for the program is as follows (bear with me I'm going to include all the files) //These are the DLL Files. ifndef TestDLL_H define TestDLL_H extern "C" { // Returns a + b __declspec(dllexport) double Add(double a, double b); // Returns a - b __declspec(dllexport) double Subtract(double a, double b); // Returns a * b __declspec(dllexport) double Multiply(double a, double b); // Returns a / b // Throws DivideByZeroException if b is 0 __declspec(dllexport) double Divide(double a, double b); } endif //.cpp include "test.h" include using namespace std; extern double __cdecl Add(double a, double b) { return a + b; } extern double __cdecl Subtract(double a, double b) { return a - b; } extern double __cdecl Multiply(double a, double b) { return a * b; } extern double __cdecl Divide(double a, double b) { if (b == 0) { throw new invalid_argument("b cannot be zero!"); } return a / b; } //C# Program using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Text; using System.Runtime.InteropServices; namespace ConsoleApplication1 { class Program { [DllImport("SDES.dll")] public static extern void SimulateGameDLL(int a, int b); static void Main(string[] args) { SimulateGameDLL(1, 2); //Error here... } } } Anyone have any idea's what I may be missing in my program? Let me know if I missed some code or if you have any questions.

  • matlab: how to transform screen pixels into specific coordinates

    - by user3137385
    I have to draw a curve captured on a image using screen pixels (mouse clicks) into a coordinate system. E.g.: Pixels on the screen, from left to right (130 px to 970 px) correspond to the x-axis of my coordinate system (1000 to 6000). Pixels from bottom to top (670 to 99) correspond to the y-axis of coordinate system (0 to 1.2). How can this be done? Maybe there's a function in matlab doing something like that? Some more explanation: I have a jpg image of a curve on a coordinate system. I've got pixel positions (x,y) of several points on that curve. Now I want to plot same curve into a matlab figure with same x and y axis as on the jpg image.
