  • How should my local git workflow work?

    At home, I have a server that is running some software (on a LAMP stack, but only accessible internally). I have another machine and a laptop that I both use for developing said software. What is the best workflow for me? Should I have a repository on my local server, create a live branch, staging branch and development branch, then checkout the development branch from my laptop/development PC to work on, commit that back when I'm done, then merge the development branch with the staging branch for testing, before further merging to the live branch? Would I simply checkout the production branch to my /www/var/ on my server? Or am I thinking/going about this all wrong? Thanks.

    Hey guys, I'm trying to figure out how to generate tileable fractals in code (for game maps, but that's irrelevant) I've been trying to modify the Solid Noise plug-in shipped with GIMP (with my extremely limited understanding of how the code works) but I cant get mine to work correctly. My modified code so far (Java) GIMP's solid noise module that I'm basing my code off of (C) Here is what I'm trying to achieve but This is what I'm getting So if anybody can see what I've done wrong, or has a suggestion how I could go about doing it differently, I'd greatly appreciate it. I have set up the subdomain http:// dev. website .com The files that I want to use for this subdomain are on the server in a folder called development http:// www. website .com /development in the directory structure they are in /htdocs/development What do I need to add the the httpd.ini file to point the http:// dev .website .com to file files located in the /htdocs/development folder on the server?   • jquery.ui.draggable.js and jquery.ui.widget.js conflict

    hello I had a working application, which uses a jquery ui dialog. I wanted to make the dialog draggable. As far as I know the only thing needed is the jquery.ui.draggable.js script. I can even see a 404 page when accessing the path and I can login to django admin.   • How to modularize a JSF/Facelets/Spring application with OSGi?

    I'm working with very large JSF/Facelets applications which use Spring for DI/bean management. My applications have modular structure and I'm currently looking for approaches to standardize the modularization. My goal is to compose a web application from a number of modules (possibly depending on each other). Each module may contain the following: Classes; Static resources (images, CSS, scripts); Facelet templates; Managed beans - Spring application contexts, with request, session and application-scoped beans (alternative is JSF managed beans); Servlet API stuff - servlets, filters, listeners (this is optional). What I'd like to avoid (almost at all costs) is the need to copy or extract module resources (like Facelets templates) to the WAR or to extend the web.xml for module's servlets, filters, etc. It must be enough to add the module (JAR, bundle, artifact, ...) to the web application (WEB-INF/lib, bundles, plugins, ...) to extend the web application with this module. Currently I solve this task with a custom modularization solution which is heavily based on using classpath resources: Special resources servlet serves static resources from classpath resources (JARs). Special Facelets resource resolver allows loading Facelet templates from classpath resources. Spring loads application contexts via the pattern classpath*:com/acme/foo/module/applicationContext.xml - this loads application contexts defined in module JARs. Finally, a pair of delegating servlets and filters delegate request processing to the servlets and filters configured in Spring application contexts from modules. Last days I read a lot about OSGi and I was considering, how (and if) I could use OSGi as a standardized modularization approach. I was thinking about how individual tasks could be solved with OSGi: Static resources - OSGi bundles which want to export static resources register a ResourceLoader instances with the bundle context. A central ResourceServlet uses these resource loaders to load resources from bundles. Facelet templates - similar to above, a central ResourceResolver uses services registered by bundles. Managed beans - I have no idea how to use an expression like #{myBean.property} if myBean is defined in one of the bundles. Servlet API stuff - use something like WebExtender/Pax Web to register servlets, filters and so on. My questions are: Am I inventing a bicycle here? Are there standard solutions for that? I've found a mentioning of Spring Slices but could not find much documentation about it. Do you think OSGi is the right technology for the described task? Is my sketch of OSGI application more or less correct? How should managed beans (especially request/session scope) be handled? I'd be generally graefult for your comments.

    I have a nginx with geoip, but it is not working rightly. The issue is the next: Nginx are getting geodata from $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR'] instead of $_SERVER['HTTP_X_HAPROXY_IP'], which have the real client ip. So, the reported geodata belongs to my server ip instead of client ip. Does anybody where could be the error to fix it?   • Cannot Start Nginx Compiled from Source

    I am trying to compile Nginx from source based on the original compiled Nginx server running on my DigitalOcean server ( Ubuntu-14.04 64x ) but with a few extra modules. I can get everything installed smoothly but I can not get it to start. I am sure the ini is correct because I copied the original source off the current running Nginx server [ Even though I see that Nginx now adds the ini when compiling fron source ]. And now to start the server: service nginx start And this is where s#!+ hits the fan - Nada. I check to see if Nginx is running with service --status-all and its not. Also with nginx -V and its not installed??? I reboot the system too and still nothing. So I am not sure what is wrong here. The ini was copied over from the old server along with all the other config files after deleting the old files. When I opened the new compiled files, the nginx default data was present so I replaced them with my old original data prior to starting the new server for the first time. Also to be safe, I rm /etc/nginx/sites-enabled/default and symlinked with ln -s /etc/nginx/sites-available/default /etc/nginx/sites-enabled/default with no errors and I verified that the data was in the sites-enabled/default file. I don't think the server really/fully installed because of the nginx -V result: The program 'nginx' can be found in the following packages: * nginx-core * nginx-extras * nginx-full * nginx-light * nginx-naxsi Try: apt-get install <selected package> Do/should I apt-get install nginx-1.7.4 ?? Or what package do I use being that its a custom package and make install earlier did nothing??     I'm testing out hiera and hitting a snag on the hierarchy configuration. What I have is extremely simple, the part that isn't working is specification of hiera datadir files based on environment.   • 500 Internal Server Error after changing .NET Framework Version to 4.0 in IIS7

    I just changed my .NET Framework Version of the Application Pools in IIS7 Manager, following these instructions. Now when I try to re-upload my ASP.Net page, it shows me a 500 - Internal server error. I have tried uploading it in .net 2.0(X86, X64, AnyCPU), and 4.0(X86, X64, AnyCPU), and everything gives the same error. This is all the details the error gives me: "There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed." When keeping the .NET version on 2.0 on the server, it works just fine. Also, when uploading "index.htm", it works fine as well, it just shows the HTML page. This is on Windows Server 2008 R2, by the way. EDIT: I have finally found out how to get the error details. Here they are: "Handler "PageHandlerFactory-Integrated" has a bad module "ManagedPipelineHandler" in its module list." "Most likely causes: •Managed handler is used; however, ASP.NET is not installed or is not installed completely. •There is a typographical error in the configuration for the handler module list. Things you can try: •Install ASP.NET if you are using managed handler. •Ensure that the handler module's name is specified correctly. Module names are case-sensitive and use the format modules="StaticFileModule,DefaultDocumentModule,DirectoryListingModule"." I am sure that I have installed ASP.NET completely. Please help me, -René

    Helo I installed MAMP PRO on my Macbook Pro (10.6) some time ago. Now I would like to use zip functions in php. I found that I must add zip.so to my extension folder and edited php.ini. On my computer I have two different versions of PHP one in MAMP folder and other in user/lib which was pre-installed on my system. Now I wish to compile my zip library for MAMP version. I got zip sources for my version of PHP then in terminal called function /Applications/MAMP/bin/php5/bin/phpize so it uses mamp php version ./configure make then I moved compile zip.so to extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20060613. When MAMP is launched it returns this error: [11-Apr-2010 16:33:27] PHP Warning: PHP Startup: zip: Unable to initialize module Module compiled with module API=20090626, debug=0, thread-safety=0 PHP compiled with module API=20060613, debug=0, thread-safety=0 These options need to match in Unknown on line 0 Can some body explain to me how to do this the right way.
