• Streaming Audio from A URL in Android using MediaPlayer?

  Hi, I've been trying to stream mp3's over http using Android's built in MediaPlayer class. The documentation would suggest to me that this should be as easy as : MediaPlayer mp = new MediaPlayer(); mp.setDataSource(URL_OF_FILE); mp.prepare(); mp.start(); However I am getting the following repeatedly. I have tried different URLs as well. Please don't tell me that streaming doesn't work on mp3's. • Using cascade in NHibernate

  I have two classes, call them Monkey and Banana, with a one-to-many bidirectional relationship. Monkey monkey = new Monkey(); Banana banana = new Banana(); monkey.Bananas.Add(banana); banana.Monkey = monkey; hibernateService.Save(banana); When I run that chunk of code, I want both monkey and banana to be persisted. However, it's only persisting both when I explicitly save the monkey and not vice versa. Initially, this made sense since only my Monkey.hbm.xml had a mapping with cascade="all". <set name="Bananas" inverse="true" cascade="all"> <key column="Id"/> <one-to-many class="Banana"/> </set> I figured I just needed to add the following to my Banana.hbm.xml file: <many-to-one name="Monkey" column="Id" cascade="all" /> Unfortunately, this resulted in a Parameter index is out of range error when I tried to run the snippet of code. I investigated this error and found this post, but I still don't see what I'm doing wrong. I have the relationship mapped once on each side as far as I can tell. • Slow MySQL Query not using filesort

  I have a query on my homepage that is getting slower and slower as my database table grows larger. tablename = tweets_cache rows = 572,327 this is the query I'm currently using that is slow, over 5 seconds. SELECT * FROM tweets_cache t WHERE t.province='' AND t.mp='0' ORDER BY t.published DESC LIMIT 50; If I take out either the WHERE or the ORDER BY, then the query is super fast 0.016 seconds. I have the following indexes on the tweets_cache table. PRIMARY published mp category province author So i'm not sure why its not using the indexes since mp, provice and published all have indexes? Doing a profile of the query shows that its not using an index to sort the query and is using filesort which is really slow. possible_keys = mp,province Extra = Using where; Using filesort I tried adding a new multie-colum index with "profiles & mp". The explain shows that this new index listed under "possible_keys" and "key", but the query time is unchanged, still over 5 seconds. Here is a screenshot of the profiler info on the query. http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r469/canadaka_bucket/slow_query_profile.png Something weird, I made a dump of my database to test on my local desktop so i don't screw up the live site. The same query on my local runs super fast, milliseconds. So I copied all the same mysql startup variables from the server to my local to make sure there wasn't some setting that might be causing this. But even after that the local query runs super fast, but the one on the live server is over 5 seconds. Can anyone tell me how to automatically set <h:selectOneMenu (or any other component) with values depending on another <h:selectOneMenu if there empty elements with 'required' set to 'true' on the form? If to set <a4j:support event="onchange" reRender="anotherElement" immediate="true"/ then nothing is changed because changed value isn't set. But without immediate i always have message that this or that element cannot be empty. How do I force WPF to render the text that gets displayed with drop shadow effect to retain Cleartype anti-aliasing, instead of that ugly blurry gray sub-pixel anti-aliasing? Some believe it's blurry because of the drop shadow -- this is not true. It's blurry only because ClearType is not used. This is how it looks like in Firefox when shadow AND ClearType: ClearType enabled text is colorful -- but that blurry text is not, because it does not use ClearType -- it uses gray sub-pixel anti-aliasing and that's not how ClearType works: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ClearType The question is: how do I enable ClearType for this text?

• What is the best way to get an audio file duration in Android?

  Hi! I'm using a SoundPool [ 1 ] to play audio clips in my app. All is fine but I need to know when the clip playback has finished. At the moment I track it in my app by obtaining the duration of each clip using a MediaPlayer [ 2 ] instance. That works fine but it looks wasteful to load each file twice, just to get the duration. I could roughly calculate the duration myself knowing the length of the file (available from the AssetFileDescriptor [ 3 ]) but I'd still need to know the sample rate and the number of channels. I see two potential solutions to that problem: Figuring out when a clip has finished playing (doesn't seem to be possible with SoundClip). Having a class which could load just the header of an audio file and give me the sample rate/number of channels (and, ideally, the sample count to get the exact duration). Any suggestions?   I have this problem, I have some audio I wish to play... And I have two buttons for it, 'Play' and 'Stop'...   I have a text file and when users upload the file, the controller action method parses that file using state machine and uses a generic list to store some values. I pass this back to the view in the form of an IEnumerable. Within my main view, based on this ienumerable list I render a partail view to iterate items and display labels and a textarea. Users could add their input in the text area.   Hi Folks, I'm a beginner in silverlight so i hope i can get an answer that brings me some more light in the measure process of silverlight. I found an interessting flap out control from silverlight slide control and now I try to use it in my project. So that the slide out is working proper, I have to place the user control on a canvas. The user control then uses for itself the height of its content. I just wanna change that behavior so that the height is set to the available space from the parent canvas. You see the uxBorder where the height is set. How can I measure the actual height and set it to the border? I tried it with Height={Binding ElementName=notificationCanvas, Path=ActualHeight} but this dependency property has no callback, so the actualHeight is never set. • jQuery: tabs where the tab/content can be linked to

  My issue is simple. I have already implemented a tab system, and I'd probably spend more time implementing another one with the solution I need, than giving a shot at adapting the code I have, and learn something while asking :) My problem is that the tabs can't be linked to, I need to be able to link to a tab from another website or page, and have that tab get selected upon page load. ie: I have three tabs showing different products, by default tab 1 is active/selected when the page loads. From the home page I want to link to tab 2 but I can't link to tab 2 because it doesn't get selected. Not sure if that makes sense. • Troubles with list "dropdowns" and which list item gets the dropdown

  I'm working on a project for an MMO "guild" that gives members of the guild randomly generated tasks for the game. They can "block" three tasks from being assigned. The lists will look something like this: <ul> <li class="blocked">Task that is blocked</li> <li class="blocked-open">Click to block a task</li> <li class="blocked-open">Click to block a task</li> </ul> The blocked-open class means they haven't chosen a task to block yet. The blocked task means they've already blocked a task. When they click the list item, I want this to appear: <ul class="tasks-dropdown no-display"> <li><h1>Click a Task to Block</h1></li> <ul class="task-dropdown-inner"> <?php //output all tasks foreach($tasks as $task) { echo '<li class="blocked-option"><span id="'.$task.'">'.$task.'</span></li>'; } ?> <br class="clear" /> </ul> </ul> I don't quite know how, when the user clicks the .blocked-open line-item, to show that dropdown under only the one they clicked.
