  • MS SQL Server not running on Win7

    I have installed available all components of "MS_SQL_05" as give named instance on Win-7. I had a default instance running of MSSQL08. While Installing MSSQL05 Instance I choose to use windows authentication. But now I got a problem and my database engine is not running, actually no components are working except I am just able to login to Integration service. I think there is some Username issue, coz It using UsrNm :'Anas-PC\Anas' which seems incorrect.   • Rails - embedded polymorphic comment list + add comment form - example?

    Hey, all. Working on my first Rails app. I've searched all around - read a bunch of tutorials, articles, and forum posts, watched some screencasts, and I've found a few examples that come close to what I'm trying to do (notably http://railscasts.com/episodes/154-polymorphic-association and ep 196 about nested model forms), but not exactly. I have two models (Podcast and BlogPost) that need to be commentable, and I have a Comment model that is polymorphically related to both. The railscasts above had a very similar example (ep 154), but Ryan used a full set of nested routes, so there were specific templates for adding and editing comments. What I want to do is show the list of comments right on the Podcast or BlogPost page, along with an Add Comment form at the bottom. I don't need a separate add template/route, and I don't need the ability to edit, only delete. This is a pretty common design on the web, but I can't find a Rails example specifically about this pattern. Here's my current understanding: I need routes for the create and delete actions, of course, but there are no templates associated with those. I'm also guessing that the right approach is to create a partial that can be included at the bottom of both the Podcast and BlogPost show template. The logical name for the partial seems to me to be something like _comments.html.haml. I know it's a common convention to have the object passed to the partial be named after the template, but calling the object 'comments' seems to not match my use case, since what I really need to pass is the commentable object (Podcast or BlogPost). So, I guess I'd use the locals option for the render partial call? (:commentable = @podcast). Inside the partial, I could call commentable.comments to get the comments collection, render that with a second partial (this time with the conventional use case, calling the partial _comment.html.haml), then create a form that submits to... what? REST-wise, it should be a POST to the collection, which would be /podcast|blogpost/:id/comments, and I think the helper for that is podcast_comments_path(podcast) if it were a podcast - not sure what to do though, since I'm using polymorphic comments. That would trigger the Comment.create action, which would then need to redirect back to the podcast|blogpost path /podcast|blogpost/:id. It's all a bit overwhelming, which is why I was really hoping to find a screencast or example that specifically implements this design.

  • Email attachments sent to a group don't show up for some

    My boss sent out an email from my Exchange 2010 org and attached a PDF and a Word doc to it. He came back the next day and told me that some of the 8 or 10 people that received this email could open up the attachments no problem. The other 2 or 3 people, could not. One of these people who could not open the attachment, went so far as to call Comcast (his email service provider) and ask them where his attachments went. Comcast told this person that when they received the email, the attachment was 0 bytes in size. This may sound like more of a rant than a question but I'm genuinely concerned. Is there any possible way that something could have gone wrong on my end that sent out the email to some with the attachment and to some without?

    Hi Guys, I thought this was fixed in 4.0 I have this method public IQueryable<T> All(Expression<Func<T,object>> sort) { return EntityContext.CreateQuery<T>(EntityName).AsQueryable<T>().OrderBy(sort); } this throws the following exception Unable to cast the type 'System.Int32' to type 'System.Object'. LINQ to Entities only supports casting Entity Data Model primitive types. Source is System.Data.Entity any idea how to fix this or if theres any workaround

    I have a Draytek Vigor 2820 router which is connected to our ADSL provider (British Telecom, BT). We currently have one static IP address which is accessible from anywhere outside of our network and points at a simple web server on port 80. We have just been given 5 more static IP addresses which I would like to point at five servers that have static IP's. As an example: Current static IP - 80.123.123.123 New Static IP's - 100.100.100.100-105 Server IP's - 192.168.1.129-133 I have confused myself completely between NAT addresses, static routes and WAN IP aliases. If anyone can give me a clear idea of what I need to do it would be greatly appreciated.

  • Migrating Shared Hosting and Email

    Hey Guys, I know there has already been a question that has been posted here about migrating shared hosting accounts, but wanted to get a second opinion on my plan to move hosting providers. My business is moving our shared hosting account (hosting and email) to a new provider, and would like to have minimal downtime. Here is our current plan: Create a backup of our old site Upload our site to the new host Set up duplicate email accounts with our new host Change the name server records on our domain to point to our new host Leave our old site up long enough for DNS records to propagate completely. I'm hoping this should result in little downtime for both website and email. Because of the volume of high-importance emails our company receives on a daily basis downtime is very expensive and not tolerated. Thanks, Chris

Here's what's inside of our httpd.conf: <Location /original> SetHandler weblogic-handler WebLogicHost 10.11.1.1 WebLogicPort 8700 PathTrim /original PathPrepend /destination ConnectTimeoutSecs 60 </Location> <Location /destination> SetHandler weblogic-handler WebLogicHost 10.11.1.1 WebLogicPort 8700 ConnectTimeoutSecs 60 </Location> This setup works mostly, but in the ssl_error_log file there're these entries: [Wed Aug 11 14:59:00 2010] [error] [client xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx] ap_proxy: trying GET /original at backend host '10.11.1.1/8700; got exception 'CONNECTION_REFUSED [os error=0, line 1739 of ../nsapi/URL.cpp]: Error connecting to host 10.11.1.1:8700' The weird thing is, the redirection still works, but these annoying entries still shows up. Anyone can point out where did we go wrong? Thanks.

  • Creating a second form page for a has_many relationship

    I have an Organization model that has_many users through affiliations. And, in the form of the organization ( the standard edit ) I use semanting_form_for and semantic_fields_for to display the organization fields and affiliations fields. But I wish to create a separete form just to handle the affiliations of a specific organization. I was trying to go to the Organization controller and create a an edit_team and update_team methods then on the routes create those pages, but it's getting a mess and not working. am I on the right track?

    Hi there, Suppose I have this very simple method in Store's model: def geocode_address loc = Store.geocode(address) self.lat = loc.lat self.lng = loc.lng end If I want to write some test scripts that aren't affected by the geocoding service, which may be down, have limitations or depend on my internet connection, how do I mock out the geocoding service?   • front end to linux std mailbox for development purposes

    I am actually a software developer, do have a fair amount of linux experience as a user though since 1997. I am normally on stackoverflow.com, please excuse me if this question isn't appropriate here. I am working on a web project. We send out emails. I work locally on a linux box. When coding I use my local mailboxes to check what's been sent. Emails sent out to valid email addresses are not arriving at my official mailbox; they might be stopped by the provider's mail servers (gmail, yahoo). Now, we are sending out HTML mails too. I need to check how they look like. Is there a GUI frontend to the standard linux BSD mailbox? Or should I install some IMAP/POP server for this? Will such server get the emails sent to username@localhost ? Thanks for any suggestion

    Hi there We eventually got our Mac Mini Server. We now want to set up a small Remote Access VPN using this Mac Mini Server. Firstly we are not sure of the components needed additionally to the server to setup this VPN. We currently have the following: 1 Mac Mini Server 1 Firewall Router (Billion 802.11g ADSL2+ router with VPN capabilities [it says so on the box]) 4Mbps ADSL connection (which should have VPN capability enabled by the service provider, or so we heard) We are not sure what else needs to be included to enable our small VPN.     I'm modeling a simple movie database using Django. models.py defines a base model Person. I extend Person into Actor and Director, which works as I imagined. Persons must be unique. When (in the Admin) I create an instance of Actor, and this person is also a Director, it won't save because of the unique = True. Any ideas how to solve this problem? (generic foreign keys?) Thx

The user can then select an object from the first list, click an button which moves it to the 'selected' list. I am not sure why they don't list their price on their website for their colocation service. They force you to chat with them and waste your time.

I have MainWindow.xaml as a view file, which I need to bind with MainWindowModel.cs. Usually, in a a wpf application we can do this with onStartUp event in App.xaml file.   • Swiching webhosting company & database erros.

    Well here comes the situation. I used to have CompanyA for webhosting. (The hosting plan was a shared one). I decided to change the hosting provider and transfer my website to CompanyB, (exclusive IP). The issue that i face is that my webpage is now displayed in two different IP addresses. So i decided to turn-off the website served by the CompanyA. Now the problem is that my database driven website, served by CompanyB, is not driven anymore, although i have added the A record mssql.mywebsite.com with the ipaddress of the database. (The database is served by dedicated db's server). So, what am i doing wrong here?
