• RegisterClientScriptInclude doesn't work for some reason...

  Hey, I've spent at least 2 days trying anything and googling this...but for some reason I can't get RegisterClientScriptInclude to work the way everyone else has it working? First off, I am usting .NET 3.5 Ajax,...and I am including javascript in my partial page refreshes...using this code: ScriptManager.RegisterClientScriptBlock(this, typeof(Page), "MyClientCode", script, true); It works perfectly, my javascript code contained in the script variable is included every partial refresh. The javascript in script is actually quite extensive though, and I would like to store it in a .js file,..so logically I make a .js file and try to include it using RegisterClientScriptInclude ...however i can't for the life of my get this to work. here's the exact code: ScriptManager.RegisterClientScriptInclude(this, typeof(Page), "mytestscript", "/js/testscript.js"); the testscript.js file is only included in FULL page refreshes...ie. when I load the page, or do a full postback....i can't get the file to be included in partial refreshes...have no idea why..when viewing the ajax POST in firebug I don't see a difference whether I include the file or not.... both of the ScriptManager Includes are being ran from the exact same place in "Page_Load"...so they should execute every partial refresh (but only the ScriptBlock does). anyways,..any help or ideas,..or further ways I can trouble shoot this problem, would be appreciated.   I have implemented the Ajax Autocomplete feature in my application using a web service file that querys my database and it works great. One problem I am having is allowing the user to see the item's name, as that's what they are typing in the textbox, but when they select it, it saves the item's ID number instead of the actual name. I want it to behave much like a dropdown list, where I can specify what is seen and entered vs. what is actually saved in the database (in this case, the product ID instead of it's name.) • Changing html content of a div before and after ajax request

  I am trying to change the button "ADD" (in a div) to some text/img as soon as it is clicked. And after the ajax request is processed, in the success block , I want the div to get the button back. I see the ajax request is itself not getting processed. Can someone explain whats my mistake. I just removed the jsfiddle link and pasting the script here to avoid confusion about the dependencies. • Ogre material scripts; how do I give a technique multiple lod_indexes?

  I have an Ogre material script that defines 4 rendering techniques. 1 using GLSL shaders, then 3 others that just use textures of different resolutions. I want to use the GLSL shader unconditionally if the graphics card supports it, and the other 3 textures depending on camera distance. At the moment my script is; material foo { lod_distances 1600 2000 technique shaders { lod_index 0 lod_index 1 lod_index 2 //various passes here } technique high_res { lod_index 0 //various passes here } technique medium_res { lod_index 1 //various passes here } technique low_res { lod_index 2 //various passes here } Extra information The Ogre manual says; Increasing indexes denote lower levels of detail You can (and often will) assign more than one technique to the same LOD index, what this means is that OGRE will pick the best technique of the ones listed at the same LOD index. OGRE determines which one is 'best' by which one is listed first. Currently, on a machine supporting the GLSL version I am using, the script behaves as follows; Camera 2000 : Shader technique Camera 1600 <= 2000 : Medium Camera <= 1600 : High If I change the lod order in shader technique to { lod_index 2 lod_index 1 lod_index 0 } The behaviour becomes; Camera 2000 : Low Camera 1600 <= 2000 : Medium Camera <= 1600 : Shader implying only the latest lod_index is used. If I change it to lod_index 0 1 2 It shouts at me Compiler error: fewer parameters expected in foo.material(#): lod_index only supports 1 argument So how do I specify a technique to have 3 lod_indexes? • Wiki for requirements engineering

  Hi, I'm looking to to build a wiki based tool the helps/aides in the requirements engineering process. More specifically I am hoping to end up with a tool that helps inexperienced users easily create and design requirements documents on a wiki platform. I was wondering if there exist any wiki/wiki platforms that either already exist or are easily extendible or would be worth looking at that for this purpose. For instance some of the features I was hoping to add would be to add structure to a document so that information is filled out in a standardised manner. Another idea I was looking at was to somehow create relationships between different types of documents (for example- a goal diagram gets evolves/ helps in the development of the class diagram). So far I have come across FOSwiki which claims to to fully customisalble...but I'm not sure what it means and what I can really do with that. Any input on FOSwiki is also highly appreciated.

• How to hide the console of batch scripts without losing std err/out streams

  My question is similar to Running a CMD or BAT in silent mode, but with one additional constraint. If you use WshScript.Run in vbscript, you lose access to the standard in/error/out streams of the process. WshScript.Exec gives you access to the standard streams, but you can't hide your windows. How can you have your cake (hide the windows) and eat it too (have direct access to the console streams)? I'm currently thinking about a C++ executable which creates a new Windows Station and Desktop, (see MSDN) and runs a specified script within that new Desktop (I'm not yet an expert on Window Stations and Desktops, so this idea may be retarded). This idea is based loosely on Condor's USE_VISIBLE_DESKTOP feature, which, if disabled, runs Condor jobs in a non-visible Desktop. I haven't quite figured out if this requires elevated priveledge. The tradeoff of this approach is that your script can disappear into limbo if it blocks on user input. Does anyone have any additional ideas? Or feedback on the approach outlined above? Edit: Also, the purpose of our script is to set up the user environment, so running as another user, or as a system scheduled task isn't really an option (unless there are clever tricks I don't know about).

  In my NAnt script I have a compile target that calls csc. I read about the 'if' attribute but am unsure what expression to use with it, as ${file::exists('*.cs')} does not work. The build script is a template for Umbraco (a CMS) projects and may or may not ever have .cs source files in the project. Ideally I would like to not have developers need to remember to modify the NAnt script to include the compile task when .cs files are added to the project (or exclude it when all .cs files are removed).

• jQuery weirdness. Div becomes attached to chained element markup?

  I've got a div in my app that is displayed each time my theme options panel is "saved". • Read the audio input level peak in Cocoa

  I'm trying to make an audio-sensitive animation, and for that purpose, I'm looking for a way to look up the current audio level. I'm looking for the peak within a set amount of time. (Think the red bar that stays on for a second or so, on an audio meter.) I've searched around for for something like this, and the only thing I could find was how to read a movie's audio levels, and how Quartz Compositions have access to this thru their iTunes Visualizer protocol. I'm looking for a way to read this from the microphone, although I'm also interested if you know how to read this from an audio file. Thanks!

• Xcode "Build and Archive" from command line

  Xcode 3.2 provides an awesome new feature under the Build menu, "Build and Archive" which generates an .ipa file suitable for Ad Hoc distribution. You can also open the Organizer, go to "Archived Applications," and "Submit Application to iTunesConnect." Is there a way to use "Build and Archive" from the command line (as part of a build script)? I'd assume that xcodebuild would be involved somehow, but the man page doesn't seem to say anything about this. UPDATE Michael Grinich requested clarification; here's what exactly you can't do with command-line builds, features you can ONLY do with Xcode's Organizer after you "Build and Archive." You can click "Share Application..." to share your IPA with beta testers. As Guillaume points out below, due to some Xcode magic, this IPA file does not require a separately distributed .mobileprovision file that beta testers need to install; that's magical. No command-line script can do it. For example, Arrix's script (submitted May 1) does not meet that requirement. More importantly, after you've beta tested a build, you can click "Submit Application to iTunes Connect" to submit that EXACT same build to Apple, the very binary you tested, without rebuilding it. That's impossible from the command line, because signing the app is part of the build process; you can sign bits for Ad Hoc beta testing OR you can sign them for submission to the App Store, but not both. No IPA built on the command-line can be beta tested on phones and then submitted directly to Apple. I'd love for someone to come along and prove me wrong: both of these features work great in the Xcode GUI and cannot be replicated from the command line.

My needs are: Able to put a PDF/EPS/... as a background Absolute positioning Able to define tables, lists Able to rotate blocks Reasonably easy syntax (will be used to automatically generate many similar looking documents) Easily usable from Python Free or very cheap In essence I'm looking for the tool X that is to OODraw/CorelDraw/... as LaTeX is to OOWrite/MS Word. I've looked at webkit2pdf and a headless OODraw, but both seem a bit of an overkill. XML-FO has some limitations such as not being able to predict how many pages your document spans. Reportlab is pricey. Any ideas? Thanks!

  I have a bunch of simulations that I want to run on a high-performance cluster, on which I should make reservations to get computing time. Since the reservations are bounded by time, I am developing an automation script that I can scp into the cluster and run. This script will then download the relevant simulation files, run them, and upload the results. Part of this automation script is in bash (cp, scp, etc) and the rest is in python. In order to develop this automation, I am using an IPython notebook. So far, I've coded all the python automation stuff in my IPython notebook and am trying to write the bash part of it now. However, it seems that the magic %%bash doesn't work in my IPython notebook. I get the following error when I have this code in my cell: Cell %%bash echo hi Error File "<ipython-input-22-62ec98e35224>", line 3 echo hi ^ SyntaxError: invalid syntax On a whim, I tried this: Cell %%bash print "hi" Error hi ERROR: Magic function `bash` not found. So I tried this with %%system, %%! and %%shell. But none of those work; they all give me the same error. Why is this happening? How can I fix this? • JQuery error in IE, works with FF. Maybe a problem with live.

  Hello. I have an ASP.net MVC2 application. In wich I'm using JQuery to alter all table rows so I can click anywhere in any row to trigger a click event on a link in the clicked row. The tables is created using MVC's built in partialview ajax. • Good Windows shell replacement [closed]

  I'm looking for a shell replacement for Windows, instead of Explorer. The features I'm looking at are: a task bar a tray bar an application launcher (I mostly use Launchy for that, but I need a launcher for those applications I forget the name...) The lighter and the easier to configure, the better! I'm currently using Emerge, but I found it a little buggy. I tried many others, but I never found something convincing.

• Paid service that will bulk convert HTML and text to PDF?

  We have a repository of documents in HTML and text that we're looking to get into PDF format, but my boss (another developer) feels that writing this portion of the application will detract from the main development that we're doing at the moment. Is anyone aware of any services that will be able to do bulk conversions of these documents to PDF? Any services that will also provide thumbnails for the documents is something we're looking for as well.

• Sphinx + tokyo Tyrant + mysql

  I'm looking at creating a full text search engine for one of my projects. We have a Mysql, Tokyo Tyrant and file documents that need to be indexed. I'm looking at Sphinx right now but I can't figured out if I can use it to index every document. I know it's possible to let Sphinx to use Mysql but I'm looking at a way to let Sphinx index and query Tokyo Tyrant as well as index file documents. It could be Sphinx or Xapian or another one but no JAVA (Lucene is out) but something that can be used with PHP and run on Linux. Any idea of a search engine that can accept more that Mysql as the source? Thanks

• Calling a function within a jQuery plug-in

  I am in the process of creating my first jQuery plug-in that will format numbers automatically to various international formats. There are a couple functions within the plug-in that strips the strings and re-formats the string that needs to be called from another jQuery script. Based on the plug-in structure below (let me know if you need the entire code) can I call and send the parameter(s) to the stripFormat(ii) and targetFormat(ii, iv) functions? Or do I need to change my plug-in structure and if so how?
