  • ASP.NET MVC - PartialView html not changing via jQuery html() call

    - by Bryan Roth
When I change the selection in a DropDownList, a PartialView gets updated via a GET request. When updating the PartialView via the jQuery html() function, the html returned is correct but when it displayed in the browser it is not correct. For example, certain checkboxes within the PartialView should become enabled but they remain disabled even though the html returned says they should be. When I do a view source in the browser the html never gets updated. I'm a little perplexed. Thoughts? • GWT CssResource Customization

    - by Eric Landry
I'm writing a GWT widget using UIBinder and MVP. The widget's default styles are defined in TheWidgetView.ui.xml: <ui:style type="com.widgetlib.spinner.display.TheWidgetView.MyStyle"> .textbox { border: 1px solid #red; } .important { font-weight: bold; } </ui:style> The widget's CssResource interface is defined in TheWidgetView.java: public class TheWidgetView extends HorizontalPanel implements TheWidgetPresenter.Display { // ... some code @UiField MyStyle style; public interface MyStyle extends CssResource { String textbox(); String important(); } // ... more code } I'd like the consumer of this widget to be able to customize part of the widget's styles and to have this in their MyExample.ui.xml: <ui:style type="com.consumer.MyExample.MyStyle"> .textbox { border: 2px solid #black; } </ui:style> And this be their MyExample.java: public class MyExample extends Composite { // ... some code @UiField MyStyle style; interface MyStyle extends TheWidgetView.MyStyle{ String textbox(); } // ... more code } Is there a way that my widget can have default styles, but that the consumer of the widget can override one of them? When an interface extends TheWidgetView.MyStyle, the of the widget consumer needs to define all the styles listed in that parent interface. I've seen some widget libraries have the widget's constructor take in a ClientBundle as parameter, which I suppose could apply to CssResource. Although, I'm not sure how I'd pass in this style object in a constructor invoked by UIBinder. Thanks much in advance!

  • Does DefaultAppPool run with special elevated privilegs on IIS?

    - by Leeks and Leaks
I'm running a piece of code within a web page that queries the IIS metabase using ADSI. The code is as simple as this: DirectoryEntry iisNode = new DirectoryEntry("/LM/W3SVC/1/ROOT/MyAspWebsite-1-128886021498831845"); foreach (DirectoryEntry de in iisNode.Parent.Children) { System.Console.WriteLine(de.Name); } This works fine when I run the page/site under the DefaultAppPool on IIS7/W2K8. However when I create my own app pool and leave the properties the same as the default app pool, this code fails with the following error: Caught: System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException Failed to parse virtual directory: /LM/W3SVC/1/ROOT/MyAspWebsite-1-128889542757187500 System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80070005): Access is denied. What special privileges does the DefaultAppPool have? I don't see any documented. I need this to work in non default app pools, but without giving the entire worker process elevated privileges. I've also tried using the username and password parameters of the DirectoryEntry constructor, by using the Admin on the machine that IIS7 is running on, but that didn't change anything. I'll also note that this works fine on IIS6 and W2K3. Any help is appreciated.

  • How to disable auto-generated WCF configuration

    - by user351025
Every time my program runs vs adds the default configuration to my app.config file. At that run it works fine, but at the next run it actually tries to read the config. The problem is that the default configuration has errors, it adds the attribute "Address", but attritbutes are not allowed to have capitals so it throws an exception. This means I have to remove the bad section every run! I've tried to configure the .config but it gives errors. Here is the code that I use to host the server: private static System.Threading.AutoResetEvent stopFlag = new System.Threading.AutoResetEvent(false); ServiceHost host = new ServiceHost(typeof(Service), new Uri("http://localhost:8000")); host.AddServiceEndpoint(typeof(IService), new BasicHttpBinding(), "ChessServer"); host.Open(); stopFlag.WaitOne(); host.Close(); Here is the client code that calls the server: ChannelFactory<IChessServer> scf; scf = new ChannelFactory<IService> (new BasicHttpBinding(), "http://localhost:8000"); IService service = scf.CreateChannel(); Thanks for any help.

  • Vertical-Align: A Full Explanation

    - by Livvy Jeffs
I've been struggling with vertical alignments, a seemingly simple enough process that has a lot of idiosyncrasies throughout different languages and element types. I've done a lot of reading through stackexchange and can't seem to find a common thread of understanding. Here are the rules that I have been able to gather: 1) Vertical-align does not work in <\div>s, you have to set div {display: table-cell; vertical-align: middle} This seems like a big hassle, especially since table-cells override the height limitation even when overflow is set to hidden and expands to fit content, which means the vertical "center" is variable. I just read some source-code from Pinterest where button {vertical-align: middle}, but no other vertical-align commands seem to work. It seems as if button is by default aligned in the middle. Can someone provide a clear explanation for the vertical-align attribute? What html elements respond to vertical-align? Which html elements have default vertical-align attributes? Which html elements have non-overridable vertical-align attributes? And any clues as to understanding the idiosyncracies would help as well! Thanks in advance!

  • Where does Tomcat append / to directory paths?

    - by Anonymouse
Suppose my Tomcat webapps directory looks like this: webapps/ webapps/fooapp/ webapps/fooapp/WEB-INF/ webapps/fooapp/WEB-INF/web.xml webapps/fooapp/bardir/ When I make a GET request for /fooapp/bardir, Tomcat sees that webapps/fooapp/bardir is a directory and sends back a 302 to /fooapp/bardir/ (with a slash at the end). Here is my question: Where in the Tomcat source code does this take place? (I'm looking at 6.0.x but a correct answer for any version would be a great starting point.) The only reference material I can find on this subject is in the Catalina Functional Specifications which states, regarding the Default Servlet: On each HTTP GET request processed by this servlet, the following processing shall be performed: [...] If the requested resource is a directory: If the request path does not end with "/", redirect to a corresponding path with "/" appended so that relative references in welcome files are resolved correctly. However, this functionality does not appear to be in org.apache.catalina.servlets.DefaultServlet; or at least, it's not there exclusively: if I replace the default servlet in web.xml with a servlet whose servlet-class does not exist, directory paths still come back 302 to add the slash, while every other request comes back with an error as expected.

  • Creating a window manager type overlay for Mac OS X

    - by zorg1379
I want to make my own window manager for OS X, or at least give it the appearance of a new one. I have many designs written down in a book, and would like to implement them. These include altering, or even completely removing, menu bars, creating entirely new guis for switching applications, etc. I know that OS X does not have a window manager, and that basically the functions that an X11 window manager would perform are done by Carbon, Cocoa, the Dock application, and the window server. I've read that it would take an incredible amount of reverse engineering to write my own api, etc. at the hardware level. I am still not that good at programming though, and don't have that kind of time. That's why I was thinking of maybe running an application on top of OS X that will function like a separate window manager - and do everything that the normal OS GUI / window manager would do. Is this possible? For example: making a custom button that would appear upon a certain key combination, that could be clicked to access a document viewer, change the time, minimize a window, etc. Is there some way to access functionality to basic tasks / actions like this without using the default OS X button controls, and implementing them with my own GUI? I am talking about more than a simple theme change, I want to completely change the user experience. This means that this application would be run in a full screen mode that blocks out default OS X menu bars. I've heard something about using graphics architectures to plug in your own window manager? Would this be an option too? If so, how would I go about doing that? Thank you,

  • How to Deserialize Missing Fields To Nulls

    - by Nathan
I am working on a .NET project where several versions of the same type of object have been created over the life of the project - most new versions add a field or two. However, now I am looking to mitigate problems for users with an old version. My goal is that when a user tries to open an old version of the serialized object with the new program, the program will automatically assign default values to the fields that are missing from the depreciated version of the file. For example, say I had a class with two boolean fields - RepeatSound and RepeatForever. The first version of the program doesn't know how to repeat forever, so it only saved RepeatSound: <anyType xsi:type="Sound"> <RepeatSound>true</RepeatSound> </anyType> but the new files look like this: <anyType xsi:type="Sound"> <RepeatSound>true</RepeatSound> <RepeatForever>true</RepeatForever> </anyType> My goal is that when I deserialize the first file in the new program that it will create the Sound object but simply default the value of RepeatForever to false. Right now trying to deserialize the first object would throw an exception. Thank you in advance for any responses

  • Core Audio on iPhone - any way to change the microphone gain (either for speakerphone mic or headpho

    - by Halle
After much searching the answer seems to be no, but I thought I'd ask here before giving up. For a project I'm working on that includes recording sound, the input levels sound a little quiet both when the route is external mic + speaker and when it's headphone mic + headphones. Does anyone know definitively whether it is possible to programmatically change mic gain levels on the iPhone in any part of Core Audio? If not, is it possible that I'm not really in "speakerphone" mode (with the external mic at least) but only think I am? Here is my audio session init code: OSStatus error = AudioSessionInitialize(NULL, NULL, audioQueueHelperInterruptionListener, r); [...some error checking of the OSStatus...] UInt32 category = kAudioSessionCategory_PlayAndRecord; // need to play out the speaker at full volume too so it is necessary to change default route below error = AudioSessionSetProperty(kAudioSessionProperty_AudioCategory, sizeof(category), &category); if (error) printf("couldn't set audio category!"); UInt32 doChangeDefaultRoute = 1; error = AudioSessionSetProperty (kAudioSessionProperty_OverrideCategoryDefaultToSpeaker, sizeof (doChangeDefaultRoute), &doChangeDefaultRoute); if (error) printf("couldn't change default route!"); error = AudioSessionAddPropertyListener(kAudioSessionProperty_AudioRouteChange, audioQueueHelperPropListener, r); if (error) printf("ERROR ADDING AUDIO SESSION PROP LISTENER! %d\n", (int)error); UInt32 inputAvailable = 0; UInt32 size = sizeof(inputAvailable); error = AudioSessionGetProperty(kAudioSessionProperty_AudioInputAvailable, &size, &inputAvailable); if (error) printf("ERROR GETTING INPUT AVAILABILITY! %d\n", (int)error); error = AudioSessionAddPropertyListener(kAudioSessionProperty_AudioInputAvailable, audioQueueHelperPropListener, r); if (error) printf("ERROR ADDING AUDIO SESSION PROP LISTENER! %d\n", (int)error); error = AudioSessionSetActive(true); if (error) printf("AudioSessionSetActive (true) failed"); Thanks very much for any pointers.

  • What benefits does IOC provide over soft-coding?

    - by dotnetdev
Take the following article for example: http://weblogs.asp.net/psteele/archive/2009/11/23/use-dependency-injection-to-simplify-application-settings.aspx?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+dotnetmvp+%28Patrick+Steele%27s+.NET+Blog%29 I don't see what benefit there is from the IOC approach as opposed to the traditional soft-coding approach. Can someone tell me what I am missing? Thanks

  • silverlight Socket: Unhandled Error in Silverlight Application An attempt was made to access a sock

  • Why cant partial methods be public if the implementation is in the same assembly?

    - by Simon
According to this http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/wa80x488.aspx "Partial methods are implicitly private" So you can have this // Definition in file1.cs partial void Method1(); // Implementation in file2.cs partial void Method1() { // method body } But you cant have this // Definition in file1.cs public partial void Method1(); // Implementation in file2.cs public partial void Method1() { // method body } But why is this? Is there some reason the compiler cant handle public partial methods?

  • Execute code on assembly load

    - by Dmitriy Matveev
I'm working on wrapper for some huge unmanaged library. Almost every of it's functions can call some error handler deeply inside. The default error handler writes error to console and calls abort() function. This behavior is undesirable for managed library, so I want to replace the default error handler with my own which will just throw some exception and let program continue normal execution after handling of this exception. The error handler must be changed before any of the wrapped functions will be called. The wrapper library is written in managed c++ with static linkage to wrapped library, so nothing like "a type with hundreds of dll imports" is present. I also can't find a single type which is used by everything inside wrapper library. So I can't solve that problem by defining static constructor in one single type which will execute code I need. I currently see two ways of solving that problem: Define some static method like Library.Initialize() which must be called one time by client before his code will use any part of the wrapper library. Find the most minimal subset of types which is used by every top-level function (I think the size of this subset will be something like 25-50 types) and add static constructors calling Library.Initialize (which will be internal in that scenario) to every of these types. I've read this and this questions, but they didn't helped me. Is there any proper ways of solving that problem? Maybe some nice hacks available?

In the project file is an option "MvcBuildViews", which builds these dll files. But they are build in a temp directory and not used in the publishment process. Is there a way to include these files? best regards

  • ASP.NET 2.0 - scaffolding a database table for webforms

    - by Francis Huang
Can you recommend a tool that can analyze a SQL database table, read the table columns, and populate an .aspx page with appropriate controls (i.e. textboxes with matching labels)? See this demo of ComponentOne InputPanel for WinForms for the functionality desired. Are there any built-in tools for ASP.NET 2.0 WebForms that can help build a scaffold page for any given database table or entity? Are there any free components out there to help achieve this goal?
