  • jquery/javascript - image resize to fit screen

    - by alberto
    not an expert programmer. i created this code to resize photos/images to fit the screen, considering the space available for the nav bar. the script happens on load of image, and on click of the navigation. is it a good piece of code, or could it be done better? any browser issues? in the html: $(document).ready(function(){ $("#photo").load(function(){ resize(); }); $(".navigation img").click(function(){ var imgPath = $(this).attr("src"); $("#photo").attr({ src: imgPath }); resize(); return false; }); }); while this is my function resize: resize = function() { var borderVt=150; //value based on css style. bottom bar + padding of photoContain var borderHz=40; //value based on css style photoContain padding $("#photo").css("width", "auto").css("height", "auto"); // Remove existing CSS $("#photo").removeAttr("width").removeAttr("height"); // Remove HTML attributes var origSizeW = $("#photo").width(); var origSizeH = $("#photo").height(); var ratioVt=(origSizeW/origSizeH); var ratioHz=(origSizeH/origSizeW); var winW = $(window).width(); var winH = $(window).height(); var screenSizeW=Math.round(winW-borderHz); var screenSizeH=Math.round(winH-borderVt); if (origSizeW>=origSizeH){ var newHeight = Math.round(screenSizeW*ratioHz); if (newHeight <= screenSizeH){ $("#photo").css("width", screenSizeW); // Set new width $("#photo").css("height", newHeight); } else{ $("#photo").css("height", screenSizeH); } } else{ $("#photo").css("height", screenSizeH); // Set new height } };

  • Jquery datatable Hidden column showing after calling another script .how can i hide the column specified permanently?

    My table is <table id="EmployeesTable" style="width: 100%;" class="grid-table06 border-one"> <thead> <tr> <th width="80%" align="left" valign="middle">Name</th> <th width="20%" align="left" valign="middle">Department</th> <th>Id</th> </tr> </thead> </table> My script as follows $(function () { $(".switchDate").click(function () { var id = $(this).attr("rel"); fetchEmployeedetails(id); }); fetchEmployeedetails(@model.Id); //on load function fetchEmployeedetails(id) { $("#EmployeesTable").dataTable({ "bProcessing": true, "bServerSide": true, "sAjaxSource": "/Employees/FetchDetails?Deptid=" + id + "&thresholdLow=4&threshold=100", "sPaginationType": "full_numbers", "bDestroy": true, "aaSorting": [[1, 'desc']], "asStripClasses": ['color01', 'color03'], "aoColumnDefs": [{ "aTargets": [2], "bVisible": false }, { "aTargets": [1], "fnRender": function (oObj) { return "<a href='#showemployees' rel='" + oObj.aData[2] + "'></a>"; } }] }); } }); On load it works fine not showing the hidden "Id" column but in case when I choose the id by switchDate on click function it causes the hidden column to be visible for second.   • jQuery Highlight Radio Labels Only

    - by Michael
    I'm trying to use jQuery validation to highlight the labels for my radio buttons only, and not the labels for my other inputs. I have a label for my radio button set called 'type'. I can't seem to get it to work! $(document).ready(function(){ $("#healthForm").validate({ highlight: function(element, errorClass) { $(element).addClass(errorClass) $(element.form).find("label[for='type']") .addClass("radioerror"); }, unhighlight: function(element, errorClass) { $(element).removeClass(errorClass) $(element.form).find("label[for='type']") .removeClass("radioerror"); }, errorPlacement: function(error, element) { } }); });

  • What should a PHP generate to give back to a jQuery AJAX request?

    - by Alex Mcp
    Perhaps it's a syntax error, but I never assume that. I have a -dead- simple AJAX test set up: http://www.mcphersonindustries.com/bucket/api.php is a file with simply: <?php echo "test"; ?> And I have Apache as localhost with this jQuery bit running: $(document).ready(function() { function doAjaxPost() { $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "http://www.mcphersonindustries.com/bucket/api.php", data: "null", success: function(resp){ console.log("Response: '" + resp + "'"); }, error: function(e){ console.log('Error: ' + e); } }); } doAjaxPost(); }); So Firebug spits out Response: '' each time, but nothing's coming through the request. Do I need to declare a header in PHP? Am I making a boneheaded mistake somewhere? Thanks for the insights, as always.

  • Component returned failure code: 0x80600011 [nsIXSLTProcessorObsolete.transformDocument]

    - by Sean Ochoa
    So, I'm using the XSLT plugin for JQuery, and here's my code: function AddPlotcardEventHandlers(){ // some code } function reportError(exception){ alert(exception.constructor.name + " Exception: " + ((exception.name) ? exception.name : "[unknown name]") + " - " + exception.message); } function GetPlotcards(){ $("#content").xslt("../xml/plotcards.xml","../xslt/plotcards.xsl", AddPlotcardEventHandlers,reportError); } Here's the modified jquery plugin. I say that its modified because I've added callbacks for success and error handling. /* * jquery.xslt.js * * Copyright (c) 2005-2008 Johann Burkard (<mailto:[email protected]>) * <http://eaio.com> * * Permission is hereby granted, free of charge, to any person obtaining a * copy of this software and associated documentation files (the "Software"), * to deal in the Software without restriction, including without limitation * the rights to use, copy, modify, merge, publish, distribute, sublicense, * and/or sell copies of the Software, and to permit persons to whom the * Software is furnished to do so, subject to the following conditions: * * The above copyright notice and this permission notice shall be included * in all copies or substantial portions of the Software. * * THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS * OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WARRANTIES OF * MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NONINFRINGEMENT. • fetching rows from mysql table and displaying them as JGROWL notifications

    - by jeansymolanza
    hey guys, i am having problems implementing my php/mysql code into a jgrowl if you are familiar with jgrowl you will know it delivers notifications like Growl does for OS X i am trying to get it read all the records from my table but at the moment it is only displaying one record as a notification and it loops through it 4 times another problem is that if i have 5 rows in the table then jgrowl will only display 4 notifications are going to be viewed how do i get it to view all the records in the table as notifications and how do i display the total number of records (5) as notifications and account for the missing one at the moment thanking you guys in advance... God bless <script type="text/javascript"> // In case you don't have firebug... if (!window.console || !console.firebug) { var names = ["log", "debug", "info", "warn", "error", "assert", "dir", "dirxml", "group", "groupEnd", "time", "timeEnd", "count", "trace", "profile", "profileEnd"]; window.console = {}; for (var i = 0; i < names.length; ++i) window.console[names[i]] = function() {}; } (function($){ $(document).ready(function(){ // This specifies how many messages can be pooled out at any given time. // If there are more notifications raised then the pool, the others are // placed into queue and rendered after the other have disapeared. $.jGrowl.defaults.pool = 5; var i = 1; var y = 1; setInterval( function() { if ( i < <?php echo $totalRows_comment; ?> ) { <?php echo '$.jGrowl("'.$row_comment['comment'].'",'; ?> { sticky: true, log: function() { console.log("Creating message " + i + "..."); }, beforeOpen: function() { console.log("Rendering message " + y + "..."); y++; } }); } i++; } , 1000 ); }); })(jQuery); </script> <p> </span> <p>

  • Problems with jQuery plugin Tablesorter 2.0

    - by gunther-von-goetzen-sanchez
    I downloaded the jQuery plugin Tablesorter 2.0 from http://tablesorter.com/jquery.tablesorter.zip and modified the example-pager.html which is in tablesorter/docs directory I wrote additional Rollover effects: $(function() { $("table") .tablesorter({widthFixed: true, widgets: ['zebra']}) .tablesorterPager({container: $("#pager")}); $("tr").mouseover(function () { $(this).addClass('over'); }); $("tr").mouseout(function () { $(this).removeClass('over'); }); $("tr").click(function () { $(this).addClass('marked'); }); $("tr").dblclick(function () { $(this).removeClass('marked'); }); }); And of course modified the themes/blue/style.css file: /* Additional code */ table.tablesorter tbody tr.odd td { background-color: #D1D1F0; } table.tablesorter tbody tr.even td { background-color: #EFDEDE; } table.tablesorter tbody tr.over td { background-color: #FBCA33; } table.tablesorter tbody tr.marked td { background-color: #FB4133; } /* Additional code END*/ All this works fine BUT when I go to further pages i.e. page 2 3 or 4 the effects are gone! I really appreciate your help

  • How can I handle template dependencies in Template Toolkit?

    - by Smack my batch up
    My static web pages are built from a huge bunch of templates which are inter-included using Template Toolkit's "import" and "include", so page.html looks like this: [% INCLUDE top %] [% IMPORT middle %] Then top might have even more files included. I have very many of these files, and they have to be run through to create the web pages in various languages (English, French, etc., not computer languages). This is a very complicated process and when one file is updated I would like to be able to automatically remake only the necessary files, using a makefile or something similar. Are there any tools like makedepend for C files which can parse template toolkit templates and create a dependency list for use in a makefile? Or are there better ways to automate this process?

  • XmlHttpRequest in a bookmarklet returns empty responseText on GET?

    - by David Eyk
    I'm trying to build a javascript bookmarklet for a special URL shortening service we've built at http://esv.to for shortening scripture references (i.e. "Matthew 5" becomes "http://esv.to/Mt5". The bookmarklet is supposed to do a GET request to http://api.esv.to/Matthew+5, which returns a text/plain response of http://esv.to/Mt5. The code for the bookmarklet itself looks like this (expanded for readability): var body = document.getElementsByTagName('body')[0], script = document.createElement('script'); script.type = 'text/javascript'; script.src = 'http://esv.to/media/js/bookmarklet.js'; body.appendChild(script); void(0); The code from http://esv.to/media/js/bookmarklet.js looks like this: (function() { function shorten(ref, callback) { var url = "http://esv.to/api/" + escape(ref); var req = new XMLHttpRequest(); req.onreadystatechange = function shortenIt() { if ( this.readyState == 4 && this.status == 200 ) { callback(req.responseText); }; }; req.open( "GET", url ); req.send(); }; function doBookmarklet() { var ref = prompt("Enter a scripture reference or keyword search to link to:", "") shorten(ref, function (short) { prompt("Here is your shortened ESV URL:", short); }); }; doBookmarklet(); })(); When called from http://esv.to itself, the bookmarklet works correctly. But when used on another page, it does not. The strange thing is, when I watch the request from Firebug, the response is 200 OK, the browser downloads 17 bytes (the length of the returned string), but the response body is empty! No error is thrown, just an empty responseText on the XmlHttpRequest object. Now, according to http://stackoverflow.com/questions/664689/ajax-call-from-bookmarklet, GET shouldn't violate the same origin policy. Is this a bug? Is there a workaround?

  • How do I import and call unmanaged C dll with ansi string "char *" pointer string from VB.net?

    - by Warren P
    I have written my own function, which in C would be declared like this, using standard Win32 calling conventions: int Thing( char * command, char * buffer, int * BufSize); I have the following amount of VB figured out, which should import the dll and call this function, wrapping it up to make it easy to call Thing("CommandHere",GetDataBackHere): Imports Microsoft.VisualBasic Imports System.Runtime.InteropServices Imports System Imports System.Text Namespace dllInvocationSpace Public Class dllInvoker ' tried attributes but could not make it build: ' <DllImport("Thing1.dll", False, CallingConvention.Cdecl, CharSet.Ansi, "Baton", True, True, False, True)> Declare Ansi Function Thing Lib "Thing1.dll" (ByVal Command As String, ByRef Buffer As String, ByRef BufferLength As Integer) Shared Function dllCall(ByVal Command As String, ByRef Results As String) As Integer Dim Buffer As StringBuilder = New StringBuilder(65536) Dim retCode As Integer Dim bufsz As Integer bufsz = 65536 retCode = Thing(Command, Buffer, bufsz) Results = Buffer Return retCode End Function End Class End Namespace The current code doesn't build, because although I think I should be able to create a "buffer" that the C Dll can write data back into using a string builder, I haven't got it quite right. (Value of type System.Text.STringBuilder cannot be converted to 'String'). I have looked all over the newsgroups and forums and can not find an example where the C dll needs to pass between 1 and 64kbytes of data back (char *buffer, int bufferlen) to visual basic.net.

    - by Kettenbach
    I have a partial class (the main class is a LinqToSql generated class) <DataObject(True)> _ Partial Public Class MBI_Contract <DataObjectMethod(DataObjectMethodType.Select, True)> _ Public Shared Function GetCancelableContracts(ByVal dealer As Dealer) As List(Of MBI_Contract) Return Utilities.GetCancelableContractsForDealer(dealer) End Function End Class Here is the method it's calling Public Function GetCancelableContractsForDealer(ByVal dealer As Dealer) As List(Of MBI_Contract) Dim db As TestDataContext = TestDataContext.Create() Return (From mbi As MBI_Contract In db.MBI_Contracts _ Where mbi.MBI_DealerNumber = dealer.DealerNumber _ AndAlso mbi.MBI_PaidFor = True _ AndAlso mbi.MBI_Deleted = False).ToList() End Function I want to use the ObjectDataSource to drive a DropDownList. <asp:ObjectDataSource ID="contractOds" runat="server" TypeName="MBI_Contract" SelectMethod="GetCancelableContracts" DataObjectTypeName="Dealer"> </asp:ObjectDataSource> My aspx page has a Dealer property that is set in a BasePage. My question is how can I pass this property(object) to the ObjectDataSource, so it can be evaluated in my select method. Does anyone know how I can do this? Or am I totally doing this the wrong way? Thanks for any Advice, Cheers, ~ck in San Diego

  • Problem inserting JavaScript into a CKEditor Instance running inside a jQuery-UI Dialog Box

    - by PlasmaFlux
    Hello Overflowers! Here's what's going on: I'm building an app (using PHP, jQuery, etc), part of which lets users edit various bits of a web page (Header, Footer, Main Content, Sidebar) using CKEditor. It's set up so that each editable bit has an "Edit Content" button in the upper right that, on click, launches an instance of CKEditor inside a jQuery-UI Dialog box. After the user is done editing, they can click an 'Update Changes' button that passes the edited content back off to the main page and closes the Dialog/CKeditor. It's all working magnificently, save for one thing. If someone inserts any JavaScript code, wrapped in 'script' tags, using either the Insert HTML Plugin for CKEditor or by going to 'Source' in CKEditor and placing the code in the source, everything seems okay until they click the 'Update Changes' button. The JavaScript appears to be inserting properly, but when 'Update Changes' is clicked, instead of the Dialog closing and passing the script back into the div where it belongs, what I get instead is an all-white screen with just the output of the JavaScript. For example, a simple 'Hello World' script results in a white screen with the string 'Hello World' in the upper left corner; for more intricate scripts, like an API call to, say Aweber, that generates a newsletter signup form, I get an all-white screen with the resulting form from the Aweber API call perfectly rendered in the middle of the screen. One of the most confusing parts is that, on these pages, if I click 'View Source', I get absolutely nothing. Blank emptiness. Here's all my code that handles the launching of the CKEditor instance inside the jQuery-UI Dialog, and the passing of the edited data back into its associated div on click of the 'Update Changes' button: $(function() { $('.foobar_edit_button') .button() .click(function() { var beingEdited = $(this).nextAll('.foobar_editable').attr('id'); var content = $(this).nextAll('.foobar_editable').html(); $('#foobar_editor').html(content); $('#foobar_editor').dialog( { open:function() { $(this).ckeditor(function() { CKFinder.SetupCKEditor( this, '<?php echo '/foobar/lib/editor/ckfinder/'; ?>' ); }); }, close:function() { $(this).ckeditorGet().destroy(); }, autoOpen: false, width: 840, modal: true, buttons: { 'Update Changes': function() { // TODO: submit changes to server via ajax once its completed: for ( instance in CKEDITOR.instances ) CKEDITOR.instances[instance].updateElement(); var edited_content = $('#foobar_editor').html(); $('#' + beingEdited).html(edited_content); $(this).dialog('close'); } } }); $('#foobar_editor').dialog('open'); }); }); I'm all sorts of confused. If anyone can point me in the right direction, it will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  • How should I rewrite my code to make it amenable to unittesting?

    - by justin
    I've been trying to get started with unit-testing while working on a little cli program. My program basically parses the command line arguments and options, and decides which function to call. Each of the functions performs some operation on a database. So, for instance, I might have a create function: def create(self, opts, args): #I've left out the error handling. strtime = datetime.datetime.now().strftime("%D %H:%M") vals = (strtime, opts.message, opts.keywords, False) self.execute("insert into mytable values (?, ?, ?, ?)", vals) self.commit() Should my test case call this function, then execute the select sql to check that the row was entered? That sounds reasonable, but also makes the tests more difficult to maintain. Would you rewrite the function to return something and check for the return value? Thanks

  • jquery to check if returned data object is empty

    - by user253530
    $("#post").live("click",function() { $("input:checkbox[name='bookmarkid']:checked").each(function() { $.post("php/socialbookmark-post.php", {bookmarkID: $(this).val()},function(data) { if(data != "") alert(data); }); }); }); the php file outputs some text only if something goes wrong. The checking that I do fails if the data is empty and displays an empty message. I need to fix this. Any ideas?

  • Create user variable in Intellij File Template

    - by Matt Broekhuis
    I am trying to use Intellij's file templates (not live templates) to help mitigate how much boilerplate code I use when making Services, daos, and their interfaces. I am able to use all the system defined variables just fine, such as ${PACKAGE_NAME} What I want though, is to be able to use my own variable names, like ${MY_USER_INPUT} however, when i do this like above, I get an error The documentation says : It is also possible to specify arbitrary number of custom variables in format ${<VARIABLE_NAME>}. and then Intellij is supposed to prompt the user for the value. However, this just plain doesn't work for me. What am I missing?

  • JavaScript private methods

    - by Wayne Kao
    To make a JavaScript class with a public method I'd do something like: function Restaurant() { } Restaurant.prototype.buy_food = function() { // something here } Restaurant.prototype.use_restroom = function() { // something here } That way users of my class can: var restaurant = new Restaurant(); restaurant.buy_food(); restaurant.use_restroom(); How do I create a private method that my public buy_food and use_restroom methods can call but that users of the class can't call externally. In other words, I want my method implementation to be able to do: Restaurant.prototype.use_restroom = function() { this.private_stuff(); } But this shouldn't work: var r = new Restaurant(); r.private_stuff(); How do I define private_stuff as a private method so both of those hold true? I've read Doug Crockford's writeup a few times but it doesn't seem like "private" methods can be called by public methods and "privileged" methods can be called externally.
