  • How do I detect server status in a port scanner java implementation

    I am writing a port scanner in Java and I want to be able to distinct the following 4 use cases: port is open port is open and server banner was read port is closed server is not live I have the following code: InetAddress address = InetAddress.getByName("google.com"); int[] ports = new int[]{21, 22, 23, 80, 443}; for (int i = 0; i < ports.length; i++) { int port = ports[i]; Socket socket = null; try { socket = new Socket(address, port); socket.setSoTimeout(500); System.out.println("port " + port + " open"); BufferedReader reader = new BufferedReader( new InputStreamReader(socket.getInputStream())); String line = reader.readLine(); if (line != null) { System.out.println(line); } socket.close(); } catch (SocketTimeoutException ex) { // port was open but nothing was read from input stream ex.printStackTrace(); } catch (ConnectException ex) { // port is closed ex.printStackTrace(); } catch (IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } finally { if (socket != null && !socket.isClosed()) { try { socket.close(); } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); } } } } The problem is that I get a ConnectionException both when the port is closed and the server cannot be reached but with a different exception message: java.net.ConnectException: Connection timed out: connect when the connection was never established and java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: connect when the port was closed so I cannot make the distinction between the two use cases without digging into the actual exception message. Same thing happens when I try a different approach for the socket creation. If I use: socket = new Socket(); socket.setSoTimeout(500); socket.connect(new InetSocketAddress(address, port), 1000); I have the same problem but with the SocketTimeoutException instead. I get a java.net.SocketTimeoutException: Read timed out if port was open but there was no banner to be read and java.net.SocketTimeoutException: connect timed out if server is not live or port is closed.     I have a program that doesn't seem to recognize declared types in the latest U3D software. There's a line typedef BOOL (WINAPI* GMI)(HMON, LPMONITORINFOEX); which gets the error: Error 1 error C2061: syntax error : identifier 'LPMONITORINFOEX' c:\Projects\U3D\Source\RTL\Platform\Common\Win32\IFXOSRender.cpp 28 and a line MONITORINFOEX miMon; which gets Error 5 error C2065: 'miMon' : undeclared identifier c:\Projects\U3D\Source\RTL\Platform\Common\Win32\IFXOSRender.cpp 49 Error 3 error C2065: 'MONITORINFOEX' : undeclared identifier c:\Projects\U3D\Source\RTL\Platform\Common\Win32\IFXOSRender.cpp 49 The program's first non-comment statement is #include <windows.h>, which includes winuser.h, which defines these identifiers. In Visual Studio, I can right-click on them and go to the definition (a typedef) and from the typedef to the struct. WINAPI is defined in WinDef.h, so that seems to be working. There are no redefinitions of LPMONITORINFOEX or MONITORINFOEX in any other file. So, how can this be happening, and what can I do about it?

  • Two view App with root template view

    Hi I was wanted to do Application witch have a root template view with a nice logo on top or something adn load other views just below (here is what I have right now: Test App ) But I have a little problem. If I'll remove a comment in file TestAppDelegate.m on line 58 //[currentView release]; Application will crash with bunch of errors when I try to switch views. But if I comment this line Project analyzer is telling me that I have a potential leak with currentView variable. Can somebody spare some time and see in that code what I did wrong?

  • Extracting public key from private key in OpenSSL

    Hello, I need to extract the RSA public key from a RSA private key using OpenSSL. I'm currently using RSAPublicKey_dup() passing the RSA* private key to get the public key. However, while the call seems to work, I cannot load (or use) this public key using the openssl command-line tool. If I generate the public key using the command-line tool ("$ openssl rsa -in private.pem -pubout > public.pem"), I can use it and it works like a charm. Do you guys know how I can get this work ? Maybe another function ? The OpenSSL documentation is quite hard to browse... Thank you.

Is there any way around this or is Leaks incorrectly identifying a leak?

    I've just switched to Mac OSX from Ubuntu. The development on Mac OSX using Netbeans is really a joy (of hell, though) I don't know how to go to next word, last word using keyboard. In windows or ubuntu, this should be Ctrl+Left/Right, but definely not in Mac. In Mac, such key combinations result in go to begin/end of line. Futhermore, the use of Home and End is for something else, not go to begin/end of line (What a cool hell). Is there another key combination? I prefer default key settings, please. I'm sick of going around with custom script.

    Since I upgraded to jQuery 1.4.4 I've been getting several new warning messages when I run my unit tests in Firefox 3.6.13. Here's a typical one: Warning: Unexpected token in attribute selector: '!'. Source File: http://localhost/unitTests/devunitTests.html Line: 0 Or the even more useful: Warning: Selector expected. Source File: http://localhost/unitTests/ui/editors/iframe2.html?test=15 Line: 0 The web page renders nicely, and all my JavaScript code seems to be running okay too, so I'm reluctant to spend a potentially large amount of time chopping away at my code to track these messages down. However, can anyone suggest what's provoking the warnings?

  • Newline not showing correctly in textbox

    I am loading a string from my database which among other things contains line breaks (\r\n). However, this isn't being rendered as a new line but instead as \r\n. If I type it directly in instead of loading it from a string, it works just fine but I need to be able to load it from a string. Any ideas? Edit: Upon closer inspection, it looks like the string is being returned as: Changed test7\\r\\nChanged test8\\r\\nChanged test9Changed test7 From the database. I tried running a .Replace(@"\\", @"\") on it but this had no effect at all. Any ideas?

  • Extracting text from PDF with Poppler (C++)

    I'm trying to get my way through Poppler and its (lack of) documentation. What I want to do is a very simple thing: open a PDF file and read the text in it. I'm then going to process the text, but that doesn't really matter here. So... I saw the poppler_page_get_text function, and it kind of works, but I have to specify a selection rectangle, which is not very handy. Isn't there just a very simple function that would output the PDF text in order (maybe line by line?). Thank you Nicola

  • Sql server management studio reporting "The semaphore timeout period has expired."

    On our development sql server, executing any query containing more than approximately 700 characters stalls for about 10 seconds and then reports the following error: Msg 121, Level 20, State 0, Line 0 A transport-level error has occurred when receiving results from the server. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - The semaphore timeout period has expired.) for example, this query select * from FooTable where id = ' (.. and then 700 spaces ..) ' fails fails with the timeout error while this one select * from FooTable where id = ' (.. and then 600 spaces ..) ' fails with the expected Msg 8169, Level 16, State 2, Line 1 Conversion failed when converting from a character string to uniqueidentifier. - immediately. Indeed, throwing any query, including random garbage at our dev sql server exhibits this behaviour, while any other sql server I have available acts as expected, so I would think that the query never actually gets to parsing on the server. I'm at a loss here - any hints?

  • Java: file write on finalize method

    In my understanding a singleton object will destroy only when the application is about to terminate. So in C++ I write a Singleton class to log my application and in that Singleton logger's destructor I log the time when my application was terminated. Things worked perfectly in C++. Now I want to have that same logger in Java, as in java there is no destructor so I implemented the finalize method for that singleton logger. But it seem that finalize method actually never get called. So, I add that System.runFinalizersOnExit(true); line, somewhere in my code (though I know it is deprecated) and that finalize method get called every time before termination of the app. But still there is a problem! If I try to write anything on file in that finalize method, It does not work, though System.out work without any problem! :( Can you guys help me on this problem? This may not exactly be the right way to go about it, but I've stumbled upon something which isn't making sense to me. Code is like this: [Test] private void DeleteFruit() { BuildTestData(); var f1 = new Fruit("Banana",1,1.5); var f2 = new Fruit("Apple",1,1.5); fm.DeleteFruit(f1,listOfFruit); Assert.That(listOfFruit[1] == f2); } Now the fruit object I create line 5 is the object that I know should be in that position (with this specific dataset) after f1 is deleted. Also if I sit and debug, and manually compare objects listOfFruit[1] and f2 they are the same. But that Assert line fails. What gives?

    I am using a bash script (below) on a remote server (so far using ssh to connect) to execute a python script that downloads a lot of pdf files one at a time (getting the download locations from a text file with the URL's) in a loop. I would like to move the files from the remote server to my local computer as they are downloaded, and then delete the file from the remote server. Is there a way that I can expand my bash script to do this? Or are there alternatives for completing this task? while read line; do python python_script.py -l $line; done < pdfURLs.txt

  • Nested for loop error with !null checking an element that doesn't exist

    I am currently using nested for loops in a 2D array of size 4,2. When I run my program, I get index out of bounds Exception on the following line else if (state[i][j+1] != null && state[i][j].getFlash() <= state[i][j].getCycleLength() && state[i][j+1].getCycleLength() == state[i][j].getCycleLength()){ } It says the index out of bounds is 2. I would understand the error if I wasn't checking to see if [i][j+1] wasn't null, but I don't understand the exception with the check? I tried moving around the !null check but the program still fails on this line. Any help would be greatly appreciated. At line 3, am I setting current to point to the same address as near so that I now have two variables pointing to the same place in memory, or am I setting current to point to the location of near in memory such that I now have this structure: current - near - NSMutableArray The obvious difference would be the value of near at line 4. If the former is happening, near is untouched and still points to its initial place in memory. If the latter is happening,
