    How can I measure programmatically (not query the OS, but measure) the size and order of associativity of L1 and L2 caches (data caches)? Assumptions about system: It has L1 and L2 cache (may be L3 too, may be cache sharing), It may have a hardware prefetch unit (just like P4+), It has a stable clocksource (tickcounter or good HPET for gettimeofday). There are no assumptions about OS (it can be Linux, Windows, or something non-standard), and we can't use POSIX queries. Language is C. And compiler optimizations may be disabled.

I'm coming from Java - so unit testing makes sense because - well , there you actually have a unit - A Class. But a Python class is not necessarily the same as a Java class , and the way I use Python - as a scripting language - is more functional then OOP - So what do you "unit test" in Python ? A flow?     I have worked a few different places, each one with a different solution, so I would like to hear your suggestions and ideas. I am looking at a situation with multiple server-rooms. We have a mixture of copper (both ethernet and telephone), multi-mode fibre and single-mode fibre. We have all types of connectors: RJ-11, RJ-45, LC, SC, FC, SMA and several I probably forgot about. We have a lot of people working in the area, and keeping track of cables is turning into a full time job. So, here are a the questions: What types and lengths of cable do you keep in stock on site? Do you make your own or buy pre-made? Adapters? Dampeners? How do you manage cable inventory? How do you label the cables? Any other tricks to stop this from driving me crazy?

I know to look at the $_SERVER['HTTP_ACCEPT_LANGUAGE'] (not accurate but mostly useful to detect location, for example if an IP range's users set French to their browser then it means that this range) belongs to France and gethostbyaddr($_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR']) (to look country code top-level domain) then may be to whois gethostbyaddr($_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR']) sometimes: $HTTP_USER_AGENT (Firefox's user agent string has language code, not accurate but mostly can be used to detect the location) But what about cities?

  • Deserializing classes from XML generated using XSD.exe

    I have classes generated (using xsd.exe) from an .xsd that I can serialize just fine, but when I try and deserialize it, I get the error: {"<XMLLanguages xmlns='http://tempuri.org/XMLLanguages.xsd'> was not expected."} I've searched for a couple of hours and found most peoples problems lie in not declaring namespaces in their xsd/xml, not defining namespaces in their classes, etc, but I can't find a solution for my problem.     hello I have my own textbox witch inherits System.Windows.Forms.TextBox I am trying to display texts like 5000000 formatted == 5,000,000 but the problem is that Control.Text should return 5000000 but it should display 5,000,000.
