  • Ubuntu doesn't "see" external USB Hard Disk

    It's NTFS. It's USB2. I'm using Ubuntu 13.04. It works perfectly fine on Windows (which excludes cable and hardware problems). I have two Ubuntu computers and it's not detected on either. It's about 500 GB. Edits: Following the first link, I input sudo lsusb in a terminal; before and after connecting the HDD. The difference was Bus 001 Device 012: ID 14cd:6116 Super Top M6116 SATA Bridge. There it is! ("sata bridge" used to appear in a windows notification when I plugged in the HDD in!). ...This means that Ubuntu detects it but is it not mounting it? I tried this: sudo mount /dev/sdb1 /mnt But gives this: mount: special device /dev/sdb1 does not exist I also tried: sudo mount /dev/sdc1 /mnt but it stays with no output forever. IT SHOWED THE FILES!! The command sudo mount /dev/sdd1 /mnt worked after I typed in sudo fdisk -l!!! Thanks a million!! :) :)

  • SimpleXMLElement empty object

    Hi, I am trying to parse an xml file using XmlReader but although I am getting a return from the xml file for the (commission) node for some reason I am getting an empty SimpleXMLElement Object returned as well. I don't know if its something to do with while loop,switch or something I missed in the parse setup.   • Summary of our Recent Pull Request Enhancements on CodePlex

    Over the past several weeks, we’ve been incrementally rolling out a bunch of enhancements around our pull request workflow for Git and Mercurial projects. Our goal is to make contributing to open source projects a simple and rewarding experience, and we’ll continue to invest in this area. Here’s a summary of the changes so far, in case you’ve missed them. As always, if you have any feedback, please let us know, whether on our ideas page or via Twitter. Support for branches You can now pick the source and destination branches for your pull request, whether you’re sending one from your fork, or using it within a project to collaborate with your other trusted contributors. A redesigned creation experience Our old pull request creation form was rather lacking. It asked for a title and comment in a small modal dialog, but that was about it. We knew we could do better, so we rethought the experience. Now, when you create a pull request, you’re taken to a new page that let’s you select the source and destination, and gives you information on the diffs and commits that you’re sending, so you can confirm that you’re sending the right set of changes. Inline code snippets in discussion If users comment on code in your pull request, we now display a preview of the snippet of relevant code inline with their comment on the discussion. Subsequent replies on that line are combined in a single thread to preserve your context. No more clicking and hunting to find where the comments are. And you can add another inline comment right from the discussion area. Comment notifications You can now elect receive an e-mail notification if a user comments on your pull request. If it’s on a line of code, we’ll display the relevant code snippet in the e-mail. Redesigned diff viewer Our old diff viewer hadn’t been touched in a while, and was in need of an update. We started with a visual facelift to use standard red/green colors for additions/deletions and remove the noisy “dots” that represented spaces and that littered the diff viewer. Based on feedback that the viewable region for diffs was too small, especially for smaller screen resolutions, we revamped the way the viewport for the code is sized, and now expand it to fill the majority of the browser height when scrolling down. The set of improvements we implemented here also apply anywhere diffs are viewed, not just for pull requests.

    I am working on creating a Windows Phone app that will play a series of sound clips selected from a list. I am using the MVVM (Model View View-Model) Design pattern and have designed a model for my data, along with a view model for my page. I believe that this may be because when I change things inside the observable collection, the property changed event is not firing. What can I do to remedy this?   • Mysql Slave stuck in "System lock"

    My MySQL slave is spending a lot of time in Slave_SQL_Running_State: System lock. I can see that the system is currently I/O write bound, and that it is processing the log, although slowly. Show processlist doesn't show anything other than "Waiting for master to send event" and "System lock" when it is in this state. All my tables (other than the system tables) are InnoDB, and external locking is disabled. What is the slave doing in this state?

  • PHP suddenly failed after IIS update

    All my application pools were stopped this morning after I got to work. I can restart them, but when I try to load the website the app pool crashes again. Update: I've looked in the GAC as the error below suggests and it seems that the file is not there. How do I get it back? Update 2: I found a further error in the event log saying The Module name FastCgiModule path C:\WINDOWS\System32\inetsrv\iisfcgi.dll returned an error from registration. The data is the error. So following the information from here http://forums.iis.net/t/1153937.aspx I removed CGI and my sites are working again. This has fixed the initial problem, but now I don't have FastCGI so I'm fairly sure that PHP will no longer be working (I don't have any PHP at the moment to test). Here is my setup and what causes the problem: I have 2 computers and one mobile which all sync through a googlemail account. But after also synching the contacts, each Outlook instance creates a birthday event for that contact. So I end up with 2 Birthday reminders.     I am trying to add a new member to our DFS topology. We have 3 DCs (VMs - VMware) running Windows server 2012, two servers are located in or Primary site and the third at our DR site. Currently the two servers at our primary site are currently replicating DFS (full mesh) and are working fine. I have tried several times to add the third DC to our DFS topology, every time i configure the replication path e.g E:\MSI and click ok the MMC snap in crashes. Any domain account that logs on to my 2008 machine gets a +- 20 second waiting time on "user profile service" I am using roaming profiles, they are around 8mb in size, and most folders are already redirected to a network share. event log registers no errors, there is more than 1 network card installed, but I have the correct card listed as "primary" Is there any way to increase verbosity of logging on specifically the "user profile service" ? However when I get an invitation sent through Apple Mail and I click it, it adds the invite to the default iCal calendar and not my Google Calendar (i.e. going to Google Calendar or bringing it up on my iPhone doesn't show the newly-added event). How can I change this so clicking on an invite will add it to my Google Calendar and display in iCal's synced Google Calendar view?

And it's running IE6, so I'm trying to update to IE8, hoping that will fix the problems with the website. But when installing IE8 it just hangs at Installing Internet Explorer 8 for Windows XP And if I try to install it manually, it hangs when installing the updates for IE8.   • Debugging Windows 2008 (Roaming Profile) user logon

    Hi, I would appreciate some help debugging my windows 2008 profile service. Any domain account that logs on to my 2008 machine gets a +- 20 second waiting time on "user profile service" I am using roaming profiles, they are around 8mb in size, and most folders are already redirected to a network share. event log registers no errors, there is more than 1 network card installed, but I have the correct card listed as "primary" Is there any way to increase verbosity of logging on specifically the "user profile service" ?     I'm working on setting up SSL on our WSUS server using a self signed certificate, but I'm running into trouble. Specifially, after running selfssl /n:CN=server.domain.local /t /v:365, and ensuring that Require Client Certificates is selected in the following directories: SimpleAuthWebService ServerSyncWebService DssAuthWebService ClientWebService APIRemoting30 I am receiving Event 120[2-5]2 upon running wsusutil.exe checkhealth. Basically, each of the directories I require the certificate on fails to work. What am I missing?

    I've enabled automatic updates but windows cannot update itself automatically, nor updating via Internet Explorer (by visiting http://www.windowsupdate.com/) works. I get this error message in event log: Unable to Connect: Windows is unable to connect to the automatic updates service and therefore cannot download and install updates according to the set schedule. Windows will continue to try to establish a connection. What could be wrong? A malware?

    I want to know what files a specific application is trying to access on my disc. I know that you can use fs_usage, but this outputs events from all applications. I know that you can target a single application, but only one that is already running. I want to detect all readfile-events an application is trying to do, ever since it is started. I don't want to miss out on any event. How do you achieve this?
