  • OpenVPN DNS: VPN DNS stomping local VPN

    I've finally noodled with OpenVPN enough to get it working. Even better, I can mount samba drives, ping network machines through the TUN device, etc - it's all great. However, I'm noticing that if I have the directive: push "dhcp-option DNS 10.0.1.1" # Push our local DNS to clients Then some of the machines that are normally visible by the client, on the client's side (i.e., not through the VPN) get masked with some other server out on the Internet. Is there any way to avoid this, besides hacking the 'hosts' file on the client machine? Ideally I'd like to only use my VPN's DNS for machines within that domain.

  • 401 - Unauthorized On Server 2008 R2 IIS 7.5

    I have a web application deployed to Server 2008 IIS 7.5 box. From remote it gives this error: 401 - Unauthorized: Access is denied due to invalid credentials. (remote = desktops on the same LAN) Have tried several remote clients using different browsers, all the same result. (IE, FF, and Chrome) Hitting the application from the desktop of the server itself works flawlessly. The application is using Anonymous Authentication. The application is written in .NET 4.0 Asp.Net using the MVC framework. Sysinternals procmon returns these 2 results for each request: FAST IO DISALLOWED and PATH NOT FOUND. I have 2 other MVC apps running fine on the same server. I have checked the security on the folders and they all match. App runs fine on a Server 2008 IIS 7.0 box. Nothing shows up in the Event log on the server related to this. Pulling my hair out here, any troubleshooting tips?

  • WDS "No response" only when notify and wait for approval

    I have a WDS server setup for use with MDT2010, and everything was working fine until this morning. Now, whenever I try to boot from LAN, I get an error: Downloaded WDSNBP... Architecture: x64 WDSNBP started using DHCP Referral. Contacting Server: 10.50.10.12 (Gateway: 0.0.0.0) No response from Windows Deployment Services server. Launching pxeboot.com My PXE Response Policy setting on the WDS is set to this: [ ] Do not respond to any client computer [ ] Respond only to known client computers [o] Respond to all (known and unknown) client computers [X] For unknown clients, notify administrator and respond after approval The odd thing is that if I clear the approval option (so any computer gets a response) it works fine. I have delegated permissions on the AD OU to the computer object WDS is running on, but that doesn't seem to have helped. As it works without approval, I can only assume my DHCP options are fine and this is some sort of AD permission problem. (Server is Windows Server 2008 SP2)

  • DB2 upgrade database Fails due to descriptor corruption

    Hi Everyone, I've recently upgraded my DB2 9.5 to DB2 9.7, and I am unable to update my database to v9.7. The error I have been receiving is this: "SQL0901N The SQL statement failed because of a non-severe system error. Subsequent SQL statements can be processed. (Reason "Packed descriptor corruption found. Please run RUNSTATS on this table".) SQLSTATE=58004" I have tried to connect with 9.5 clients that worked before the "upgrade" on other machines, but they complain about the DB not being migrated to the current version. So my DB is now somewhere in limbo between 9.5 and 9.7. Would anyone have any clever ideas on how to execute runstats on this DB without being able to connect to it? I'm not concerned so much about the data inside, as I am about the settings (name,optimization stuff, etc) Please let me know if I there is any information I left out. Thanks, Jdcc

  • Windows 2008 R2 DHCP server not responding to DHCP discover

    I've got two Windows 2008 Enterprise R2 servers both running DNS and DHCP called cod & lobster. DHCP is setup using the split scope option introduced with 2008 R2, whereby both servers should respond with the first response providing the lease. Setup is as follows: Cod - IP: 192.168.0.231 - Pool: 192.168.0.101 - 192.168.0.179, exclusion for 160-179. - Response Delay: 0ms - Authorised in Active Directory (Re-authorised to confirm) - Windows firewall disabled while testing Lobster - IP: 192.168.0.232 - Pool: 192.168.0.101 - 192.168.0.179, exclusion for 101-159. - Response Delay: 1000ms - Authorised in Active Directory All DHCP leases to clients are currently being issues by Lobster rather than Cod. Packet captures with Wireshark show the following (all to broadcast address): Client - DHCP Discover Lobster - DHCP Offer (after 1s delay) Client - DHCP Request Lobster - DHCP Ack Client - DHCP Inform From my setup with two servers I'd expect to see a DHCP Offer coming from Cod almost immediately after the DHCP Discover. Does anybody have any idea what would prevent the DHCP Server responding to the discover?

  • ActiveSync gives a 401.2 error

    Hello - I've been struggling for a while with a problem with ActiveSync, it is giving 401.2 errors when trying to access the mailboxes. Oddly enough, clients can get to the calendars just fine. I've tried from an Android device as well as the Exchange remote connectivity troubleshooter, same error both times. Here is the configuration: Connectivity through ISA 2006 Exchange 2007 on Windows 2008 Basic authentication is on ISA is passing through all authentication directly to the Exchange server The user IS allowed to get to ActiveSync in their Exchange mailbox settings I have tried the following, without success: * Making SSL not required * Enabling Windows Integrated and Digest authentication Here is an example of the errors in the IIS log: OPTIONS /Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync/default.eas - 443 - 192.168.32.18 TestActiveSyncConnectivity 401 2 5 0 Here is what I am seeing in my trace log: ModuleName IIS Web Core Notification 2 HttpStatus 401 HttpReason Unauthorized HttpSubStatus 2 ErrorCode 2147942405 ConfigExceptionInfo Notification AUTHENTICATE_REQUEST ErrorCode Access is denied.   • "Not enough memory" error when running Peachtree Accounting 2010 with Logmein

    I setup one of my clients with a Logmein Pro account recently and everything has been running fine so far. Today, however, my client received an error when they were logged into their work computer remotely and tried to run a report from Peachtree Accounting 2010. The error states: "Not enough memory to run" and she can't print the report. I looked online and found another user that had this same problem with Peachtree 2010 when connected via Logmein here. The error doesn't happen if the user runs the report while sitting at her work computer, but it always happens when connected via Logmein. I know most of you will push it off as just a Logmein issue, which I'm sure it is - but I would like any constructive input from anyone else who may have had the same or similar problem.   • Using AuthzSVNAccessFile for controlling SVN Access produces HTTP 400 Bad Request

    I have a new repository on an existing subversion server that requires us to perform path based authorization within the repository. I found that the AuthzSVNAccessFile directive in apache is directly responsible for allowing this functionality. After fixing several other problems such as AuthzSVNAccessFile preventing SVNListParentPath from operating properly, I am left with one single problem. I can checkout, I can update, I can commit, BUT I cannot execute an SVN COPY for performing branch/tagging operations. The moment I comment out the AuthzSVNAccessFile line in the Apache config everything works as expected except the obvious path authorizations. Versions: The server OS is Debian 6.0.7 (Squeeze) Apache 2.2.16-6+squeeze11 Server Subversion 1.6.12dfsg-7 Clients are running windows Clients tried are: TortoiseSVN 1.8.2 Build 24708 64bit SVN CLI Client 1.8.3 (r1516576) Authentication is performed via AD to a Windows 2003 domain and appears to be operating normally. I have also confirmed that all files for the repository (/var/svn/authtestbasic) are owned by the Apache user www-data.

    HI, I am on Mac OS X 10.6.3 with Xcode 3.2.2 (iPhone SDK) and whenever I try to commit an entire project (this project has not been committed yet and there is nothing in the root svn directory) it gives me the error: Error: 155007 (Path is not a working copy directory) Description: 'PATH TO PROJECT (for privacy)' is not a working copy if it helps the SVN hosting is being provided by Codehesion (NOT an advertisement in any way :P) Thanks in advance!

  • Assigning a home DNS to be secondary only?

    Hi. I have a small domain lab set up at home, including DNS/DHCP on the Win2008 server. I'd like to be able to refer to my domain clients by name, but I find that I get a slowdown when using an internal DNS. Win DNS refers to my ISP's upstream dns (I also tried Google's DNS servers for a little while) but it feels like there's an extra couple seconds for each request when I'm using anything except the DNS servers fetched via DHCP from my ISP. I tried adding my local DNS to my router's DHCP (Need to use router to fetch DHCP info from ISP, even though none of it ever changes, since I'm behind NAT) So, my question is: Is there any way to set my internal DNS server to be secondary to a dynamically retrieved upstream DNS? I want the internal server to be queried only if the ISP dns fails, or to be queried only for a certain TLD (.iv right now. I guess for best practices I should change it to .internal)

    We currently use group policy to configure a proxy server PAC file for Windows XP and Windows 7 computers on our network. We now are starting to get requests for Windows 8, but have noticed that our current GPO does not work for setting the proxy server on Windows 8 clients or server 2012. Is it possible to do this using a 2008 R2 domain controller or would we need to update our domain to a 2012 server? I found a reference to creating new GPO settings for "Internet Explorer 10 and 11" and vague references to using RSAT on Windows 8 to set IE 10 settings via preferences, but nothing that talks about using group policy to manage proxy settings.

  • Problems connecting to MS Dynamics AX 2009 Application Object Server

    I've got a funny problem connecting to an AOS server. I got a domain network containing a (VM) Server running the Application Object Server (AOS). Client computer A) can connect to the AOS without problems and work. When client computer B) tries to connect, all I get is this error message: Logon Error Connection with the Application Object Server could not be established. The event log of Client B) does not contain any messages about this. Firewalls are off on all three computers (by GP). Tcp/ip from cliebt B) to the AOS server does run fine. Both clients run the same OS (win 7 RC), sit on the same subnet, next to each other. Yesterday it all worked, today just one computer can connect. Any ideas what might cause this problem, how to resolve it, or how to debug it?

    Hello, I am looking for a Live Video Streaming solution, The clients will be able to watch the video with a plugin (Flash or Silverlight), or a Standalone application (Windows Media Player, FLV, etc). But I can't choose between Microsoft Solution (Windows Media Server (MMS, RTSP) + Silverlight as client) or the Adobe solution (Flash Media Server (RTMP) + Flash/Flex). The streaming is for short duration cast and will not be online 24/24h. I tried both, and I found the cheaper version of FMS don't provide security to prevent users to register as published (You have to write custom module...), the Windows Media Server provide this function. We already have Windows Server licences. (So Windows Media Server will be "Free") What do you recommend ? What is the best between Flash or Silverlight for Live Video Streaming ? Thank you !

    Hello Experts, We have an enterprise web app to which our clients post/upload lots of documents [mainly images and pdf files] via web interface, iphone app etc etc. We are also using imagick to split pdf documents into images. Also, large number of mysql SELECT/UPDATE/DELETE queries happen all day. Currently, all of this is happening on same server and we are planning to split the process in 3 stages : 1) a server only for database 2) a server only for documents (document upload, splitting etc) 3) a server for the main php web app Is there any drawback with this kind of structure as compared to hosting everything on same server ?     Presently rolling out VPN to access to a small office. I am using a SonicWALL TZ-170 running SonicOS Enhanced 3.4.1.0-2e. I've created an encrypted RCF file for the clients to import into the SonicWALL Global VPN Client. Is there a way to provide friendly names for the "Connection Name" and "HostName" in the RCF file? If I create an unencrypted RFC file I can easily modify these values. Is there anyway to modify them in an encrypted RCF file? Thanks.

  • Can't restore backup from SQL Server 2008 R2 to SQL Server 2005 or 2008

    Hi everyone, I'm trying to get a backup from SQL Server 2008 R2 restored to SQL Server 2008, but when we try to do the restore we get this: The database was backed up on a server running version 10.50.1092. That version is incompatible with this server, which is running version 10.00.2531. Either restore the database on a server that supports the backup, or use a backup that is compatible with this server. I can use the script wizard to generate a script, but that takes over an hour to run. I also tried just exporting the data from server to server, but it had issues with the primary keys/identity columns. I will be running into this issue with several other clients so any help you could offer about how to get around this would be great. Thanks for your help!

  • NAT: Exposing SQL Server 2008 Express to the internet

    Hi, I have a Windows Server 2003 SP2 machine with SQL Server 2008 Express installed. I have my network configured with a NAT. Internal clients can access the instance of SQL Server without a problem. I would like to enable SQL Server to be accessible from anywhere on the the internet. I am not sure how to allow my NAT firewall to allow that. I tried adding the port 1443 to it but I still can't access it from a remote machine. How can you make a given SQL Server available to the WAN? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
