  • Why would I see PHP NOTICE and ERRORs when running a script as a regular user, but not as root?

    As far as I can tell, there's no difference between the error reporting or message redirection between users. They both use the same PHP ini. However, when I run a script as a regular user, I get tons of NOTICES, when run as root, I get none. When starting PHP interactive mode as a regular user, I get two PHP Warnings that 'memcache' and 'xmlwriter' are already loaded; when starting as the root user, I get no warnings. I know that I should be fixing the warnings, not "making the warnings go away;" that's on the ticket. The question is, Why are the users treated differently? Why does a regular user get notices and warnings, but root does not, even if their error reporting are the same?

  • Where does one enter the JavaScript code in CRM Dynamics?

    I've started to play with CRM Dynamics yesterday so this question should be seen as a very basic one. I've been coding for many years but CRM D is news to me. Apparently, one is supposed to be able to enter JavaScript code to customize the behavior of the application. I've understood that there's an API for that and that touching DOM directly or playing with jQuery is a no-no. Question: Where is the JS-code supposed to be entered? I've gone through all the menus but as far I can see, there's no spot where I could plug-in my custom code. E.g.: Where do I get to define a validation for the last name of a contact currently being defined?

    hey guys, for developement reasons (working with facebook-connect) i put the connect iframe in an iframe. on that way i am able to work on the connect-thing independent of my ip and don't have to develop on the live-server. the iframe holding the connect-button iframe is on my server, accessing the same db-server as the developer version (developer version is running on localhsot). as far as good ... BUT how can i let the parent site know, that the user has connected, so that i get his profile-picture displayd as reaction to this? how can i react in generally on an action/event/JS in an iframe? is there a way? can the iframe post data to the parent site? like a time-stamp and fb_userid? if the iframe stuff doesn't work ... i thougt of saving the ip to the fb_userid (to db) and check matches ... but i don't like this idea.

  • History tables pros, cons and gotchas - using triggers, sproc or at application level.

    I am currently playing around with the idea of having history tables for some of my tables in my database. Basically I have the main table and a copy of that table with a modified date and an action column to store what action was preformed eg Update,Delete and Insert. So far I can think of three different places that you can do the history table work. Triggers on the main table for update, insert and delete. (Database) Stored procedures. (Database) Application layer. (Application) My main question is, what are the pros, cons and gotchas of doing the work in each of these layers. One advantage I can think of by using the triggers way is that integrity is always maintained no matter what program is implmentated on top of the database.

  • Best choice for off-site backup: dd vs tar

    I have two 1TB single-partition hard disks configured as RAID1, of which I would like to make an off-site backup on a third disk, which I am still to buy. The idea is to store the backup at a relative's house, considerably far away from my place, in the hope that all the information will be safe in the case of a global thermonuclear apocalypse. Of course, this backup would be well encrypted. What I still have to decide is whether I am going to simply tar the entire partition or, instead, use dd to create an image of the disks. Is there any non-trivial difference between these two approaches that I could be overlooking? This off-site backup would be updated no more than two or three times a year, in the best of the cases, so performance should not be a factor to be pondered at all. What, and why, would you use if you were me? dd, tar, or a third option?

  • Determining where to animate the map given a list of GeoPoints

    My android application loads some markers on an overlay onto a MapView. The markers are placed based on a dynamic list of GeoPoints. I want to move the map center and zoom into the area with most items. Naively, I can calculate the superposition of all the points, but I would like to remove the points that are very far from the mass of points from the calculation. Is there a known way to calculate this ? (e.g. probability, statistics .. ?)

But I am not sure which filter and event I should use in my scenario: Watch for a Folder, If a file is added to that folder, do XYZ ... So In my scenario I don't care if an existing file is changed,etc..those should be ignored...only do XYZ if and only if a new file has been added to that Folder... Which event and filter do you recommended for this scenario?

  • No optimization causes wrong search result

    I just took over our solr/lucene stuff from my ex-colleague. But there is a weird bug. If there is no optimization after dataimport, actually if there are multiple segment files, the search result then will be wrong. We are using a customized solr searchComponent. As far as I know about lucene, optimization is only optimization which could improve the speed of indexing and should not affect search result. I doubt this may be related to multithreading or unclosed searcher/reader or something. Anybody can help? Thank you.

    I'm trying to add random numbers onto the end of this array when ever I call this function. I've narrowed it down to just this so far. when ever I check to see if anything is in the array it says 0. So now i'm quite stumped. I'm thinking that MutableArray releases the contents of it before I ever get to use them. problem is I don't know what to use. A button calls the function and pretty much everything else is taken care of its just this portion inside the function.   • Using a JSON web service from a Java client application

    I am developing a client-side Java application that has a bit of functionality that requires getting data from some web services that transmit in JSON (some RESTful, some not). No JavaScript, no web browser, just a plain JAR file that will run locally with Swing for the GUI. This is not a new or unique problem; surely there must be some open source libraries out there that will handle the JSON data transmission over HTTP. I've already found some that will parse JSON, but I'm having trouble finding any that will handle the HTTP communication to consume the JSON web service. So far I've found Apache Axis2 apparently which might have at least part of the solution, but I don't see enough documentation for it to know if it will do what I need, or how to use it. Maybe part of the problem is that I don't have experience with web services so I'm not able to know a solution when I see it. I hope some of you can point me in the right direction. Examples would be helpful.

    I've spent hours scouring the net for anything to do with VBA calling data from the web in excel and nothing provides a tutorial on how to do so, only complicated examples un-related to what I want to do. I want to pull data from either a .html or .xml site, doesn't matter, via Excel and find specific points in that data. I can find specific points but don't know how to get the data or scroll through multiple lines. I've done this exact sort of thing in mIRC (sort of C code). http://eve-central.com/home/quicklook.html?typeid=438 http://api.eve-central.com/api/quicklook?typeid=438 Those are two examples, using roughly the same data I'd like to retrieve. It'd be FAR more specific with at most 100 or so different values. I'd like to be TAUGHT how to do it, not given the code to do it, or if you must explain each part with comments in-depth please.     I'm doing some unit testing, and some of the code is checking to see if files exist based on the relative path of the currently-executing script by using the FILE variable. I'm doing something like this: if File.directory?(File.join(File.dirname(__FILE__),'..','..','directory')) blah blah blah ... else raise "Can't find directory" end I'm trying to find a way to make it fail in the unit tests without doing anything drastic. Being able to overwrite the __ FILE __ variable would be easiest, but as far as I can tell, it's impossible. Any tips?

  • How does "Open With" some app in iPhone work?

    As far as I know, from iOS SDK 3.2, file type handling is added and an iOS application can associate itself with some file type so that other applications can open this kind of file with the application. Because of the sandbox mechanism in iOS, I wonder when a file in appA is opened with appB, which registered itself with this kind of file, what will happen? Is this file copied to appB and both appA and appB keep a copy of this file? If the answer is yes, is it possible to make appB open the file under appA's document folder? I cannot find any Apple documentation on this. For example, appA stores a Keynote document in it, if I open this Keynote document with the Keynote app, is it possible to let Keynote app to edit this document in place so that after editing, appA can see the updated document? Any help is appreciated.

  • Detect at runtime which country's App Store my iPhone app was downloaded from?

    I have a feature in my iPhone application that, for business reasons, should only be shown/available to customers in the US. If I want to release this app to App Stores outside the US, what's the best way to figure out which country I'm in without relying on user-defined settings such as language and locale? In my mind, the ideal solution is that there's some runtime property that can tell me which App Store country the app was downloaded from, and I can take action accordingly. Looking through the docs and searching the web, I'm not coming up with anything in this department. I don't expect the solution to be 100% foolproof as far as users not being in the country they say they're from, but as close as possible would be nice. I suppose one solution would be to make a separate build for a new product on the App Store and have two versions, one for the US and one for the others, but that doesn't seem ideal. I'm hoping it can be the same product on the App Store to prevent things like fragmentation of user reviews. Thanks in advance!
