  • My App crashes when launched on my Iphone

    hi guys, I have a problem here : my app crashed on my Iphone (JB) though Xcode doesn't complain about anything. The app works fine on the simulator though.   • SQL error - Cannot convert nvarchar to decimal

    I have a C# application that simply parses all of the txt documents within a given network directory and imports the data to a SQL server db. Everything was cruising along just fine until about the 1800th file when it happend to have a few blanks in columns that are called out as DBType.Decimal (and the value is usually zero in the files, not blank). So I got this error, "cannot convert nvarchar to decimal". I am wondering how I could tell the app to simply skip the lines that have this issue?? Perhaps I could even just change the column type to varchar even tho values are numbers (what problems could this create?)   • Cumulative +1/-1 Cointoss crashes on 1000 iterations. Please advise; c++ boost random libraries

    following some former advice Multithreaded application, am I doing it right? I think I have a threadsafe number generator using boost, but my program crashes when I input 1000 iterations. The output .csv file when graphed looks right, but I'm not sure why it's crashing. It's using _beginthread, and everyone is telling me I should use the more (convoluted) _beingthreadex, which I'm not familiar with. If someone could recommend an example, I would greatly appreciate it. There are a variety of tools available to help you and Support diagnose SOA Suite issues in 11g but it can be confusing as to which tool is appropriate for a particular situation and what their relationships are. This blog post will introduce the various tools and attempt to clarify what each is for and how they are related. Let's first list the tools we'll be addressing: RDA: Remote Diagnostic Agent DFW: Diagnostic Framework Selective Tracing DMS: Dynamic Monitoring Service ODL: Oracle Diagnostic Logging ADR: Automatic Diagnostics Repository ADRCI: Automatic Diagnostics Repository Command Interpreter WLDF: WebLogic Diagnostic Framework This overview is not mean to be a comprehensive guide on using all of these tools, however, extensive reference materials are included that will provide many more details on their execution. Another point to note is that all of these tools are applicable for Fusion Middleware as a whole but specific products may or may not have implemented features to leverage them. A couple of the tools have a WebLogic Scripting Tool or 'WLST' interface. WLST is a command interface for executing pre-built functions and custom scripts against a domain.   • Can't log in via SSH to any accounts set to use /bin/bash as a default shell

    I'm trying to install bash as the default shell on a ARM Linux running on an embedded device (Synology DS212+ NAS). But there's something really wrong, and I can't figure out what it is. Symptoms: 1) Root has /bin/bash as default shell, and can log in normally via SSH: $ grep root /etc/passwd root:x:0:0:root:/root:/bin/bash $ ssh root@NAS root@NAS's password: Last login: Sun Dec 16 14:06:56 2012 from desktop # 2) joeuser has /bin/bash as default shell, and receives "Permission denied" when trying to log in via SSH: $ grep joeuser /etc/passwd joeuser:x:1029:100:Joe User:/home/joeuser:/bin/bash $ ssh joeuser@localhost joeuser@NAS's password: Last login: Sun Dec 16 14:07:22 2012 from desktop Permission denied, please try again. Connection to localhost closed. 3) changing joeuser's shell back to /bin/sh: $ grep joeuser /etc/passwd joeuser:x:1029:100:Joe User:/home/joeuser:/bin/sh $ ssh joeuser@localhost Last login: Sun Dec 16 15:50:52 2012 from localhost $ To make things even more strange, I can log in as joeuser using /bin/bash using the serial console (!). Also a su - joeuser as root works fine, so the bash binary itself is working fine. In an act of despair, I changed joeuser's uid to 0 on /etc/passwd, but also didn't work, so it doesn't seem to be anything permission related. Seems that bash is doing some extra checking that sshd didn't like, and blocking the connections for non-root users. Maybe some sort of sanity checking - or terminal emulation - that is triggering the SIGCHLD, but only when called via ssh. I already went through every single item on sshd_config, and also put SSHD in debug mode, but didn't find anything strange.     I have a confusing behaviour. I can't get any error into log file or screen. I made a file index.php with content like this: "<?php a();".Normally, I will get message like this: "Call to undefined function a()" but when I called this script on my configuration I got nothing.     My company provides private research tools (sites) for companies. Each site has its own domain name and users. These sites need to be able to send outbound mail for notifications such as password reminders. We started using Google Apps for this purpose, but lately we are having tremendous problems with mailing, especially to hotmail. I added the SPF record as required. Mxtoolbox says my domains are not in any blacklists. I was told to contact https://postmaster.live.com/snds/addnetwork.aspx and add my network. Given that I am using google's mail servers for sending mail, should I add their IP address for registering my domain? Or should I add my server's IP even though I am not hosting the mail server on it?     I am having a strange issue that I can't seem to resolve. Here is what happend: I had some log files in a github repository that I didn't want there.   • Visual Studio 2010 and javascript debugging in external javascript files (embedded and minified).

    Hi, The asp.net web application I'm working on is written in asp.net 3.5, the web app solution is upgraded from VS 2008 (don't know if that matter). The solution had javascript in the aspx files before I moved the javascript to external files. Now what I have done is to set all the javascript files to be embedded resource (except the jquery.js file) and I want to minify them when building for release by using the MS Ajax Minifier. I want to use the minified javascript files when I'm in the RELEASE mode and when I'm in DEBUG mode I want to use the "normal" versions. My problem now is that I'm unable to debug the javascript code in debug mode. When I set a break point a javascript function, VS is not breaking at all when the function is executed. If the string has characters like a white space, I get a string with encoding. If the string doesn't have any characters that need to be encoded, it just gives me the original string. I have a button on the nav bar which begins an image import process by opening an action sheet. Once the method for the action sheet starts, my string is invalid - but only if it contains encoded characters. If it is just a "normal" string, everything is fine and acts as expected. Am I off on my encoding? At first I thought it might be a memory problem but I can't figure out why that would affect only encoded strings.   • How to get objects to react to touches in Cocos2D?

    Alright, so I'm starting to learn more about Coco2D, but I'm kinda frusterated. A lot of the tutorials I have found are for outdated versions of the code, so when I look through and see how they do certain things, I can't translate it into my own program, because a lot has changed. With that being said, I am working in the latest version of Coco2d, version 0.99. What I want to do is create a sprite on the screen (Done) and then when I touch that sprite, I can have "something" happen. For now, let's just make an alert go off. Now, I got this code working with the help of a friend. I can't do it for 2 sprites, which I was testing. So my question is this: How can I have all sprites on the screen react to the same event when touched? For my program, the same event needs to be run for all objects of the same type, so that should make it a tad easier. I tried making a subclass of CCNode and over write the method, but that just didn't work at all... so I'm doing something wrong. Help would be appreciated!

    I have a problem. I try to display a UITable that could have 2000-20000 records (typicall numbers.) I have a SQLite database similar to the Apple contacts application. I do all the tricks I know to get a smoth scroll, but I have a problem. I load the data in 50 recods blocks. Then, when the user scroll, request next 50 until finish the list. However, load that 50 records cause a notable "pause" in loading and scrolling. Everything else works fine. I cache the data, have opaque cells, draw it by code, etc... I swap the code loading the same data in dicts and have a performance boost but wonder if I could keep my object oriented aproach and improve the actual code.     I have been trying to minimize my memory footprint with UIImagePickerController, but I'm starting to think that the memory problems I am having are resulting from poor memory management, instead of a particular way to handle the UIImagePickerController object. My workflow is this: The "Edit Image" button is clicked, which presents a UIActionSheet. This action sheet allows you to delete, take a picture, choose from the library, or cancel. It leads me to believe that I am not getting that full image out of memory the correct way. What am I missing here? And on a second note, does the Camera source use significantly more memory than the Photo Albums source? I tend to get more crashes when using the camera.

  • JFreeChart CategoryPlot overwrites categories

    Hi, I am new to using JFreeChart and I'm sure there is a simple solution to my problem . . PROBLEM: I have a chart that shows multiple "events types" along the date X axis. The Y axis shows the "event category". My problem is that only the latest date of an event type is shown for each category. In the example below The chart shows data points for Event Type 1 at June 20th(Category 1) and at June 10th (Category 2). I had also added a data point for June 10th, Category 1 but the June 20th point erases it. I think I am misunderstanding how the CategoryPlot is working. Am I using the wrong type of chart? I thought a scatter chart would be the ticket but it only accepts numerical values. I need to have discrete string categories on my Y-axis.     I appear to be having a problem with ASP.NET MVC in that, if I have more than one form on a page which uses the same name in each one, but as different types (radio/hidden/etc), then, when the first form posts (I choose the 'Date' radio button for instance), if the form is re-rendered (say as part of the results page), I seem to have the issue that the hidden value of the SearchType on the other forms is changed to the last radio button value (in this case, SearchType.Name). Update: I've seen this bug again today. It seems that this crops its head when you return a posted page and use MVC set hidden form tags with the Html helper.     I'm trying to put 2 UIPickerViews together in one ViewController. Each UIPickerView has different data arrays. I'm using interface builder to link the pickers up. I know I'll have to use separate delegates and dataSources but I can't seem to hook everything up with interface builder correctly. I have included them on the file path using both the Maven .pom file and directly assigning them.   • How do I center a UIImageView within a full-screen UIScrollView?

    In my application, I would like to present the user with a full-screen photo viewer much like the one used in the Photos app. This is just for a single photo and as such should be quite simple. I just want the user to be able to view this one photo with the ability to zoom and pan. I have most of it working. And, if I do not center my UIImageView, everything behaves perfectly. However, I really want the UIImageView to be centered on the screen when the image is sufficiently zoomed out. I do not want it stuck to the top-left corner of the scroll view. Once I attempt to center this view, my vertical scrollable area appears to be greater than it should be. As such, once I zoom in a little, I am able to scroll about 100 pixels past the top of the image.   • Why is my PHP query executing twice on page load?

    I am newish to PHP and I seem to be having an issue with an insert statement that executes twice when I open this page to view a document. In the database the 2nd insert is 1 second later. I am unsure if it is a favicon issue as my upload page uses an insert query and it executes once.   • OSX: How to get a volume name (or bsd name) from a IOUSBDeviceInterface or location id

    Hi, I'm trying to write an app that associates a particular USB string descriptor (of a USB mass storage device) with its volume or bsd name. So the code goes through all the connected USB devices, gets the string descriptors and extracts information from one of them. I would like to get the volume name of those USB devices. I can't find the right API to do that. I have tried to do that: DASessionRef session = DASessionCreate(kCFAllocatorDefault); DADiskRef disk_ref = DADiskCreateFromIOMedia(kCFAllocatorDefault, session, usb_device_ref); const char* name = DADiskGetBSDName(disk_ref); But the DADiskCreateFromIOMedia function returned nil, I assume the usb_device_ref that I passed was not compatible with the io_service_t that the function is expecting. So how can I get the volume name of a USB device? Could I use the location id to do that?
