• How to see functions implemented in R packages

  How do I see the actual code for the functions implemented in R packaged. For instance I have loaded the caret package and I would like to see the code used for the function "createMultiFolds". I have gone to where the packages are stored but can't seem to find what I am looking for. For instance folders like Meta in the root folder of the caret package have files with the .rds extension which I can read into R with the gzfile command but I can't still seem to find what I am looking for i.e. the exact for the functions e.g. creatMultifolds. I would like to adapt some of these functions specifically to my research needs by make small changes to the codes to output the results in the way that I want without having to "re-invent the wheel" I will be glad if someone can help me. I need some classes for playing short wav sounds, this classes would load this wav files into memory when an instance created, play sounds in background when needed, release this wav files from memory when an instance disposed. How can I do this on C# for windows (.Net 2.0)? (Win API's sndPlaySound, OpenAL or may be any wrapper) Ideally I would love to find an exist solution that simple and able to solve my task. • XCode - Multiple targets, Multiple *internationalized* names?

  I've got an internationalized iPhone project. In the various ${lang}.lproj/InfoPlist.strings files I've got a single key, CFBundleName = "My App Name". That's working fine for a single target, but I can't make it work for multiple targets. I'd like to have several translated InfoPlistMyApp.strings files for the main target, plus several InfoPlistMyApp*Lite*.strings files for the lite version. But I can't figure out how to set it up. The InfoPlist.strings name seems to be set in stone, so I can't replace it dynamically. Any ideas?

  So I'm writing a program which returns a procedure for some given arithmetic problem, so I wanted to instance a couple of functions to Show so that I can print the same expression I evaluate when I test. The trouble is that the given code matches (-) to the first line when it should fall to the second. {-# OPTIONS_GHC -XFlexibleInstances #-} instance Show (t -> t-> t) where show (+) = "plus" show (-) = "minus" main = print [(+),(-)] returns [plus,plus] Am I just committing a motal sin printing functions in the first place or is there some way I can get it to match properly? edit:I realise I am getting the following warning: Warning: Pattern match(es) are overlapped In the definition of `show': show - = ... I still don't know why it overlaps, or how to stop it.

• How to I reference a pointer from a different class

  Hey team of awesomeness!, (Iphone Objective-C question) First off, I despise singletons with a passion. Though I should probably be trying to use one, I just dont want to. I want to create a data class (that is instantiated only once by a view controller on loading), and then using a different class, message the crap out of that data instance until it is brimming with so much data, it smiles. So, how do i do that? I made a pointer to the instance of the data class when I instantiated it. I'm now over in a separate view controller, action occurs, and I want to update the initial data object. I think I need to reference that object by way of pointer, but I have no idea how to do that. yes I've set properties and getters and setters, which seem to work, but only in the initial view controller class. • How can I (from a script) add something to the zsh command history?

  I'd like to be able to look through my command history and know the context from which I issued various commands--in other words, "what directory was I in?" There are various ways I could achieve this, but all of them (that I can think of) would require manipulating the zsh history to add (for instance) a commented line with the result of $(pwd). (I could create functions named cd & pushd & popd etc, or I could use zsh's preexec() function and maybe its periodic() function to add the comment line at most every X seconds, just before I issue a command, or perhaps there's some other way.) The problem is, I don't want to directly manipulate the history file and bypass the shell's history mechanism, but I can't figure out a way (with the fc command, for instance) to add something to the history without actually typing it on the command line. How could I do this?

I was thinking is here any application or method which shows what data is copied to which USB (if name available then shows name or otherwise device id) and what data is being copied to Ubuntu machine . It is some like history of USB and System data. I think this feature exists in KDE This will really useful in may ways.   I'm currently taking the MS SQL 2K5 Admin course at a local college and ran into a problem with the Log Shipping part. My setup is the following: Windows 7 x64 SQL 2005 SP3 2 SQL server instances on the same machine Log Shipping settings: Performed full then log back up of Primary Manually restore on Secondary in STANDBY MODE Insert a new record into the table Set up Log Shipping on Primary using SQL Authenication login to connect to the Secondary Set up timers and copy destination on Secondary Monitoring instance not being used I set up a shared folder for WORKGROUP so both instances on the machine can read & write to it. I can see transaction logs generated and copied as defined by the Transaction Shipping wizard. However, the specified table on the Secondary instance is not updating.

  My js code: $(function(){ var arr = new Array('jj', 'kk', 'oo'); $.post('test12.php', {'arr[]': arr}, function(data){ alert(data); }); }); PHP code: <?php echo print_r($_POST['arr']); The thing is,$.post receive a key named 'arr[]',it should be used in PHP as 'arr[]' instead of 'arr',but '$_POST['arr[]']' doesn't work,'arr' works.Which seems that Jquery might do something with curly braces '[]' before sending something to PHP. Secondly,when I remove the single quotas around 'arr[]',PHP can not receive anything by using $_POST['arr'];,I don't know why? Doing this task in a traditional way with no curly braces: $.post('test12.php', {arr: arr}, function(data){ alert(data); }); It works fine. So when sending javascript array to PHP,why bothering using single quote and curly braces like 'arr[]' instead of using a concise way like arr:arr My return result is Array( [0]=>jj [1]=>kk [2]=>oo ) 1 Notice there is a 1 under the array,why?

• What is the best way to store categorical references in SQL tables?

  I'm wanting to store a wide array of categorical data in MySQL database tables. Let's say that for instance I want to to information on "widgets" and want to categorize attributes in certain ways, i.e. shape category. For instance, the widgets could be classified as: round, square, triangular, spherical, etc. Should these categories be stored within a table to reference them best from an application? Another possibility, I would imagine, would be to add a column to widgets that contained a shape column that contained a tiny int. That way my application could search shapes by that and then use a coordinating enum type that would map the shape int meanings. Which would be best? Or is there another solution that I'm not thinking of yet?

• Questions about "casting operation" in OOP

  When programming, we usually use some type-casting operations. When the casting happens on the objects "on the same level", it feels ok. But when it happens on the ojects "on the different levels"(mainly between father and son), it feels weird. Considering this: Class Son extends Father WhenSon s = (Son)father;, it's absolutely unreasonable. Because a "Son" is not a "Father" anymore, "Son" may grow up with some new properties "Father" doesn't have, the casting operation makes these properties unknown. On the other hand, Father f = (Father)son seems reasonable, but according to LSP "An instance of a derived should be able to replace any instance of its superclass" A "Son" can do anything his "Father" can, so the casting operation seems useless. So can i say that these casting operations are agaisnt OO design principle but necessary?

  I want to start looking for jobs in great companies and I have four years of enterprise corporations development, three years with C#.NET and alomst one year with Ruby On Rails, JS, etc... But when I look up interview questions from Google, Amazon, Fog Creek, DropBox, etc... they are really targeted at students that are coming fresh out of college and still remember what was Dynamic Programming and Dijkstra algorithms ... but I don't! :( It has been a while for me ... If a I need a sort algorithm I would either Google it or there already is a library and method that does it for me. So what should I do? Do they realize that this guy is not coming from college and will ask more general questions about software architecture or nop! I should go back find my old Data structures book from the storage and read them? In that case wht books and language do you recommend to hone my skills?

  Dear experts, I would like to implement a API of Javascript that sort of resemble a light switch. For instance, there are two buttons on the actual HTML page act as the UI. Both of the buttons have event handlers that invokes a different function. Each function have codes that act like a state, for instance. button1.onclick=function (){ $("div").click( //code effects 2 ) } button2.onclick=function (){ $("div").click( //Code effects 2 ) } I the code works fine on the surface but the 2 state functions overlap. the effects is going to take place for the rest of the way until the next reload of the document. Basically what I want to achieve is that when 1 button is clicked, it will switch "OFF" the state of function invoked by the other button and vice versa. Thus, the effects achieved are unique are not overlapped. Is there anyway to achieve this or could any experts point me to the right direction. Thanks in advance.

  I'm writing a game engine, and I want to know what I should do to make it more artist-friendly. I don't want to be too limiting in terms of what file formats I support, etc. Some specific questions: Are there specific formats artists like to model in? Does it not matter because the 3D modeler abstracts the data storage away? Is it okay if I don't support per-vertex coloration in my game engine? If I have to store a diffuse, specular, ambient, and emissive color value for each vertex, it doubles the size of vertices in the buffer. Is it reasonable to ask artists to do all these things in textures / maps? Any other tips you have about making it so that artists have to adapt their style to my specific engine as little as possible would be nice.

  Hi all, I have been implementing a new project which I have decided to use the repository pattern and Entity Framework. I have sucessfuly implemented basic CRUD methods and I have no moved onto my DeepLoads. • Reusing of a PreparedStatement between methods?

  We all know that we should rather reuse a JDBC PreparedStatement than creating a new instance within a loop. But how to deal with PreparedStatement reuse between different method invocations? Does the reuse-"rule" still count? Should I really consider using a field for the PreparedStatement or should I close and re-create the prepared statement in every invocation? (Of course an instance of such a class would be bound to a Connection which might be a disadvantage) I am aware that the ideal answer might be "it depends". But I am looking for a best practice for less experienced developers that they will do the right choice in most of the cases.

  i just had this thought, and was wondering if it's possible to crawl the entire web (just like the big boys!) on a single dedicated server (like Core2Duo, 8gig ram, 750gb disk 100mbps) . I've come across a paper where this was done....but i cannot recall this paper's title. it was like about crawling the entire web on a single dedicated server using some statistical model. Anyways, imagine starting with just around 10,000 seed URLs, and doing exhaustive crawl.... is it possible ?
