  • How do you convert date taken from a bash script to milliseconds in java program?

    I am writing a piece of code in java that needs to take a time sent from a bash script and parse the time to milliseconds. When I check the millisecond conversion on the date everything is correct except for the month I have sent which is January instead of March. Here is the variable I create in the bash script, which later in the script I pass to the java program: TIME=`date +%m%d%Y_%H:%M:%S` Here is the java code which parses the time to milliseconds: String dt = "${scriptstart}"; java.text.SimpleDateFormat scriptStart = new java.text.SimpleDateFormat("MMDDyyyy_HH:mm:ss"); long start = scriptStart.parse(dt).getTime(); The goal of this statement is to find the elapsed time between the start of the script and the current system time. To troubleshoot this I printed out the two: System Time = 1269898069496 (converted = Mon Mar 29 2010 16:27:49 GMT-0500 (Central Daylight Time)) Script Start = 03292010_16:27:45 Script Start in Milli = 1264804065000 (Converted = Fri Jan 29 2010 16:27:45 GMT-0600 (Central Standard Time))

    If in a database (MySQL), I have a datetime column (ex. 1899-12-30 19:00:00), how do I sum 1 day to it? Following http://corelib.rubyonrails.org/classes/Time.html#M000240 If I want to add 1 day, it actually adds 60*60*24 days (86,400 days) r=Record.find(:first) =>Sat, 30 Dec 1899 19:00:00 -0600 r.date + (60*60*24) =>Fri, 20 Jul 2136 19:00:00 -0600 But if I do this it actually adds 1 day: t = Time.now =>Mon Jun 14 10:32:51 -0600 2010 t + (60 * 60 * 24) =>Tue Jun 15 10:33:21 -0600 2010 I guess it has to do with the format...how do I make this work?

I need to display 6 images that are stacked on top of one another using CSS, and I'd like to offer the user the ability to right-click save-as if possible by stacking the screen capture on top top of the original image stack.   • Basic HTML Internal Link not working in IE8

    This one has me scratching my head. I have a page with several internal links bringing the user down the page to further content. Beneath various sections there are further internal links bringing the user back to the top. This works fine in all browsers apart from IE8 (actual IE8 - not IE9 in IE8 mode) where they work go down, but not coming back up! Examples: <a href="page.php?v=35&amp;u=admin-videos#a">A &ndash; General</a> .... //travelling DOWN the page <h3><strong>A &ndash; General<a name="a"></a></strong></h3> <a name="top"></a> .... //travelling back up <a href="page.php?v=35&amp;u=admin-videos#top">Back to top.</a> I've tried filling the 'top' anchor with &nbsp; but that hasn't changed it.   • jquery mouseleave issue when moving too slow

    Hello. I am using the jQuery mouseenter and mouseleave events to slide a div down and up. Everything works well except for the mouseleave which doesn't appear to fire ONLY if the mouse of moved off of the div quite slowly. If i move the mouse at a relatively normal or fast speed then it works as expected. Can anyone explain this or provide any info on how to get around this? Theoretically, if I take a piece of C code (that includes different header files) from Linux and I find in the Linux file system all the header files needed for the linkage of the project, will I be able to successfully compile the project in Windows with Visual C++ 2010?     I'm using multiple instances of the JQuery-UI dialog along with draggable and resizable. Whenever I drag or resize one of the dialog boxes, the position and dimensions of the current box are saved to a database and then loaded the next time the page opens. This is working well. However, when I close a dialog box and re-open it using a button, jQuery sets the position of the box back to its original location in the center of the screen. Furthermore, I use a show effect to slide the box off to the left on closing and in from the left on re-opening. I found two ways to update its position when the slide in animation is done, however, it still slides into the center of the screen, and I have yet to find a way to get it to slide in towards the location it is supposed to have. Basically, I need JQuery to remember the box' position and put the box back into that location when it is re-opened. It took me days to make it this far, but this is one obstacle I have yet to overcome. Maybe there's a different way I can re-open the box? Thanks! EDIT: Forgot - this issue ONLY happens when I use my UpdatePos function to set the location of a box (i.e. on page load). When I drag a box with my mouse, close it, and re-open it, everything works. So I'm guessing there's one more storage location for the box' position that I'm missing here... The position() results for $box.position() or $box.dialog().position() do not change during this debugging section. Maybe this will help someone here - I'm still out of ideas here... ... and I just discovered that when I drag the item around myself, then close and re-open it, it is very unpredictable. Sometimes, it will end up in the correct location horizontally, but not vertically. Sometimes, it will end up back in the center of the screen...
