• Reasons of getting a java.lang.VerifyError

  I'm investigating the following java.lang.VerifyError java.lang.VerifyError: (class: be/post/ehr/wfm/application/serviceorganization/report/DisplayReportServlet, method: getMonthData signature: (IILjava/util/Collection;Ljava/util/Collection;Ljava/util/HashMap;Ljava/util/Collection;Ljava/util/Locale;Lorg/apache/struts/util/MessageRe˜̴MtÌ´MÚw€mçw€mp:”MŒŒ at java.lang.Class.getDeclaredConstructors0(Native Method) at java.lang.Class.privateGetDeclaredConstructors(Class.java:2357) at java.lang.Class.getConstructor0(Class.java:2671) It occurs when the jboss server in which the servlet is deployed is started. It is compiled with jdk-1.5.0_11 and I tried to recompile it with jdk-1.5.0_15 without succes. That is the compilation runs fine but when deployed, the java.lang.VerifyError occurs. The actual method signature is private PgasePdfTable getMonthData(int month, int year, Collection dayTypes, Collection calendarDays, HashMap bcSpecialDays, Collection activityPeriods, Locale locale, MessageResources resources) throws Exception { I already tried looking to it with javap and that gives the method signature as it should be. When my other colleagues check out the code, compile it and deploy it, they have the same problem. When the build server picks up the code and deploys it on development or testing environments (HPUX), the same error occurs. Also an automated testing machine running ubuntu shows the same error during server startup. The rest of the application runs ok, only that one servlet is out of order. Any ideas where to look would be helpful.

• PHP/Java Bridge - Access Java objects in PHP

  I have a Red5 application which defines some public Java methods. When I start the server, an object of the application class gets created. I am trying to call the public methods of the application class from PHP using the existing instance of the Java application class. So here's my Java application: public class App extends org.red5.server.adapter.ApplicationAdapter { public boolean appStart(IScope app) { // This method gets called when the application starts // and an object of this App class is created. return true; } // This is the method I would like to call from PHP. public void f() { } } From PHP, I would like to get access to the App object that is created and call the method f() on it. I have tried playing around with this thing called "context". So in the Java method App.appStart(), I did this: // Save a reference to this App object to be retrieved later in PHP. new PhpScriptContextFactory().getContext().put("x", this); And in PHP, I tried to access the saved object like this: require_once("http://localhost:5080/JavaBridge/java/Java.inc"); var_dump(java_is_null(java_context()->get("x"))); Unfortunately, the java_is_null() function in PHP returns true. I also tried saving the App object in a static variable of App class but when I access that variable in PHP, its value is null.

  Has anyone used XHTML Doclet, and can you provide some hints as to how to get it to work successfully? • When importing an Access table into Excel, a look-up column is showing all values as numbers

  I have a basic Access to Excel question that has me frustrated. I have two Access 2010 data tables. One is a list of managers. The primary key is a manager ID (which is an autonumber because managers can have the same name), and each row also has manager name, manager email, etc. The second data table is a list of departments. The primary key for each row is a unique department code, and the foreign key is a manager ID (autonumber). I used the Look-up Wizard to create this connection. However, Access does not show the manager ID in the foreign key location. It shows Manager Name like I requested when I used the Look-up Wizard. Now I am trying to import the second table (departments) into Excel 2010. I clicked import from Access, chose the Department table, and everything popped into Excel. BUT, the Manager Name column is showing Manager ID instead. So I have a list of numbers instead of names. How can I make Excel show what I see in Access? Thanks!

• Adding new records in Access without wrecking the form

  I'm working on a simple Access 2003 application to keep track of things that need to be done for clients for some colleagues. Each colleague has a set of clients, and each client has a set of actions that need to be taken by a certain date. I've set up a form that consists of a combobox for client ID (indexed), a drop-down for the person who is handling that client's case, and a button for adding new clients (a standard Access-created Add Record button). The actions are listed in a subform below these three elements. The problem I've run into is that the first person I tested this on clicked the button to add a new record, then didn't fill it out and tried to select another client from the drop-down list. Access interprets this as an attempt to set the selected Client ID as the ID for the new record and rightfully throws an error for duplicate primary keys. I can think of a couple of ways around this problem, but I'd much rather hear your elegant solutions than kludge together some junk in a language I don't know. Let me know if you have any questions. • 50 Billion Served: Java Embedded on Devices

  It doesn't matter if it is 50 billion or 24 billion, just suffice it to stay that there will be MANY connected devices in the year 2020. With just 24 billion devices, they will outnumber humans six to one! So as a developer, you don't want to ignore this opportunity. What if you could use your Java skills and deploy an app to a fraction of these devices (don't be greedy, how about just, say, 118,000 of them)? Fareed Suliman, Java ME Product Manager had lots of good news for Java Developers in his presentation Modernizing the Explosion of Advanced Microcontrollers with Embedded Java at ARM TechCon in Santa Clara, CA last week. "A radical architecture shift is underway in this space, from proprietary to standards-based," he explained.  He pointed out several advantages to using Embedded Java for devices: Java is a proven and open standard. Java provides connectivity, encryption, location, and web services APIs. You don't have to focus on and keep reinventing the plumbing below the JVM. Abstracting the software from the hardware allows you to repeat your app across many devices. Abstracting the software from the hardware allows allows parallel development so you can get your app done more quickly. You already know Java (or you can hire lots of Java talent). Java is a full ecosystem, with Java Embedded plugins for IDEs like Eclipse and NetBeans. Java ME allows for in-field software upgrades. Suliman mentioned two ways developers can start using Java Embedded today:  Java ME Embedded Suite 7.0 Oracle Java Embedded Suite is a new packaged solution from Oracle (including Java DB, GlassFish for Embedded Suite, Jersey Web Services Framework, and Oracle Java SE Embedded 7 platform), created to provide value added services for collecting, managing, and transmitting data to embedded devices such as gateways and concentrators. Oracle Java ME Embedded 3.2 Oracle Java ME Embedded 3.2 is designed and optimized to meet the unique requirements of small embedded, low power devices such as micro-controllers and other resource-constrained hardware without screens or user interfaces.   I'm trying to create a new tab in a Safari window from Cocoa using Scripting Bridge. Creating a new one."); SafariDocument *newDoc = [[[safari classForScriptingClass:@"document"] alloc] init]; [[safari windows] addObject:newDoc]; [newDoc release]; } else { NSLog(@"Seems we already have a safari window"); SafariTab *newTab = [[[safari classForScriptingClass:@"tab"] alloc] init]; [[[safari windows] objectAtIndex:0] addObject:newTab]; [newTab release]; } The first part if the "if" works, creating a new window. Creating the tab does not. This gets me "-[SafariWindow addObject:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance...", so obviously that's not the way to do it. I can't figure out how windows, documents and tabs relate to each other in Safari. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Thor

  I've a java process that is working on some large data set in memory. I've seen it crash with a SIGSEGV signal sometimes, so i was wondering some potential causes and fixes could do. The only clue I found was while scanning the MikroTik RouterOS documentation ( RouterOS is build upon a Linux 2.6.16 kernel ), I found this : In-interface Bridge = Checks if the input interface is a port for a bridge or is the bridge.   Can someone explain to me how are effected the performances of an Access 2003 DB when it's used by a lot (30) of users on the same LAN? I'm working on a vb6 project with this access 2003 DB wich performs ok on my local PC, but it's terrible when used across 20-30 users. It's there something I can do to improve performance? How can I understand what's the cause of this degradation in performance?

  Hi, I currently have an archaic system of client records that I am trying to improve. For each client i have a directory, in that directory i include a directory for each job. Each job has a spreadsheet that i use to store their personal details, and run calculations and costings specific to their needs. In turn I also have word documents that are linked to their spreadsheet which automatically update accordingly. The spreadsheet is also exported as a pdf as well I am trying to build a database of customer records in Access, straight forward enough. For each new customer i need to be able to add the appropriate spreadsheet to their records, update the spreadsheet accordingly with their details, use the spreadsheet to calculate their costings etc.. I do not want to enter the same information repeatedly, and would like a cohesive system, with data being passed between access and excel. Should this be easy enough to do with the two packages? • Problem with Access 2003 linking tables with SQL Server 2008 using ODBC

  I am trying to link an Access 2003 DB to tables in a SQL Server 2008 database using ODBC. When I try to link to tables that have Primary Key established I get the following error message. " 'Pk_dbo.Batch_Claims' is not a valid name. Make sure that it does not include invalid characters or punctuation and that it is not to long. " Pk_dbo.Batch_Claims is the key value I see when looking at the table through SSMS. I have used Access for awhile but am somewhat new to SQL Server and connections using ODBC.   On http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/api/java/net/URL.html it states that: Compares this URL for equality with another object. If the given object is not a URL then this method immediately returns false. Two URL objects are equal if they have the same protocol, reference equivalent hosts, have the same port number on the host, and the same file and fragment of the file. Two hosts are considered equivalent if both host names can be resolved into the same IP addresses; else if either host name can't be resolved, the host names must be equal without regard to case; or both host names equal to null. Since hosts comparison requires name resolution, this operation is a blocking operation. Note: The defined behavior for equals is known to be inconsistent with virtual hosting in HTTP. According to this, equals will only work if name resolution is possible. Since I can't be sure that a computer has internet access at a given time, should I just use Strings to store addresses instead? Also, how do I go about testing if access is available when requested?
