    Suppose I write a library with the following: public class Bar { /* ... */ } public class SomeWeirdClass<T> where T : ??? { public T BarMaker(Bar b) { // ... play with b T t = (T)b return (T) b; } } Later, I expect users to use my library by defining their own types which are convertible to Bar and using the SomeWeirdClass 'factory'. public class Foo { public static explicit operator Foo(Bar f) { return new Bar(); } } public class Demo { public static void demo() { Bar b = new Bar(); SomeWeirdClass<Foo> weird = new SomeWeirdClass<Foo>(); Foo f = weird.BarMaker(b); } } this will compile if i set where T : Foo but the problem is that I don't know about Foo at the library's compile time, and I actually want something more like where T : some class that can be instantiated, given a Bar Is this possible? From my limited knowledge it does not seem to be, but the ingenuity of the .NET framework and its users always surprises me...   • Why is this simple jQuery hover event misbehaving in Internet Explorer 8?

    I asked for help earlier on Stackoverflow involving highlighting spans with the same Class when a mouse hovers over any Span with that same Class. Here is a screenshot of it in IE8, with my mouse hovered over the " min) { min" section in the middle. As you can see, it highlighted the span that the mouse is hovering over perfectly fine. However, it has also highlighted some random spans above and below it that don't have the same class! Only the span's with the same Class as the one where the mouse is over should be highlighted green. In this screenshot, only that middle green section should be green. Here is a screenshot of it working properly in Firefox/Chrome with my mouse in the exact same position: This screenshot is correct as the span that the mouse is over (the green section) is the only one in this section that shares that class. Why is IE8 randomly green-highlighting spans when it shouldn't be (they don't share the same class) using my little jQuery snippet?   • Testing Django Inline ModelForms: How to arrange POST data?

    Hi folks, I have a Django 'add business' view which adds a new business with an inline 'business_contact' form. The form works fine, but I'm wondering how to write up the unit test - specifically, the 'postdata' to send to self.client.post(settings.BUSINESS_ADD_URL, postdata) I've inspected the fields in my browser and tried adding post data with corresponding names, but I still get a 'ManagementForm data is missing or has been tampered with' error when run. Anyone know of any resources for figuring out how to post inline data? Relevant models, views & forms below if it helps. Lotsa thanks.     I would like to setup an hibernate project, for this I use the lastest hibernate 3.5-Final. BTW my IDE is Netbeans.   • $_POST data returns empty when headers are > POST_MAX_SIZE

    Hi Hopefully someone here might have an answer to my question. I have a basic form that contains simple fields, like name, number, email address etc and 1 file upload field. I am trying to add some validation into my script that detects if the file is too large and then rejects the user back to the form to select/upload a smaller file. My problem is, if a user selects a file that is bigger than my validation file size rule and larger than php.ini POST_MAX_SIZE/UPLOAD_MAX_FILESIZE and pushes submit, then PHP seems to try process the form only to fail on the POST_MAX_SIZE settings and then clears the entire $_POST array and returns nothing back to the form. Is there a way around this? Surely if someone uploads something than the max size configured in the php.ini then you can still get the rest of the $_POST data??? I need to somehow combine these filters, and use the last td to mark the end of the pattern i.e. the td with the colspan=6 and width=100% with child element hr. I have been struggling with this, and have resorted to Regex'ing but was told numerous times to NOT use regex for html parsing, so here I am! Your help is much appreciated!

  • ASP.NET site move to IIS7 results in gibberish characters in page output

    I have an ASP.NET site that was working fine running on Windows Server 2003 / IIS6. I moved it to Windows Server 2008 / IIS7 and the aspx page output now includes gibberish text. For example: p???? ????? The majority of the page renders properly, but there is gibberish here and there. I have checked the event logs and there is nothing. Any idea what's going on here? How can I fix this? I have noticed that this issue shows up when I include multiple Server.Execute statements in the aspx code: <% Server.Execute("/inc/top.inc"); %> <% Server.Execute("/inc/footer.inc"); %> The .inc files above contain just html. It appears that the files have to be of a significant length to cause the error.     I am trying to get Cassandra to work on OS X.     I have a class UserProfile defined which takes the default user as a foreign key. Now another class A has a foreign key to UserProfile. So for saving any instance in class A, how do i give it the userprofile object. Also, does making a class UserProfile mean that class user is still used and class UserProfile is just some other table? I need to know this as I have to take care of the user profile creation, so I should know what gets stored where? -- Confused

  • What is in scala-android.jar?

    I've been trying to experiment with developing Android applications with Scala. I've gotten to the point where I can get the app to compile, but there are no helper functions for things like: button.setOnClickListener( () => { text.setText("test") }) (I'm talking about the closure there) I see lots of references to scala-android.jar, and have this file in my project, but I'm not sure what it does, or how to use it. I get the feeling it has these helper conversion functions, but I'm not sure.     I have three google users [personal, work, work] in my chrome on Mac OS X. The chrome for my personal account [not the other two chromes] has text-enhanced ads in every site i go to. It double-underlines some keywords on every page. On mouse hover I get an ad overlay from http[colon][slash][slash]intext.nav-links.com[slash] Upon right-clicking one of the text-enhanced keywords and going to 'inspect element', i see that the text has been wrapped around with a CSS classname called adtext. It even shows the .adtext CSS descriptions on the right. How do i determine from WHICH particular extension is this CSS classname being injected into my pages?

    I get this error when I try to run my app: 2010-04-29 13:49:01.355 MyApp[56123:207] *** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSUnknownKeyException', reason: '[<MyViewController 0x5112b10> setValue:forUndefinedKey:]: this class is not key value coding-compliant for the key toolbar.' MyViewController used to have an IBOutlet called 'toolbar' that connected to a UIToolbar object in a nib. I decided I no longer needed the toolbar or the nib so I removed them from the project. But Xcode seems to still want to refer to 'toolbar'. Where might the reference to toolbar be if I no longer use a nib? I can synthesize a dummy 'toolbar' property to appease Xcode, but I want to avoid this kind of ugly hack.

Since this class is an internal implementation detail that clients of DirectoryIterator should never touch, it would be nice if I could keep the constructor private. Is this my fundamental misunderstanding around make_shared or do I need to mark some sort of boost piece as friend in order for the call to compile?

  • Java-Maven: How to add manually a library to the maven repository?

    I'm trying to generate a jasperReport, but I receive this: net.sf.jasperreports.engine.util.JRFontNotFoundException: Font 'Times New Roman' is not available to the JVM. See the Javadoc for more details. After searching on the net, I found that I need to add a jar to the classpath with the font. So, I create a jar file with the ttf files and now I want to add this as a dependency to my pom file. So: I installed the file : mvn install:install-file -Dfile=tf.jar -DgroupId=tf -DartifactId=tf -Dversion=1.0.0 -Dpackaging=jar and in my pom, I added these lines: <dependency> <groupId>tf</groupId> <artifactId>tf</artifactId> <version>1.0.0</version> </dependency> but I receive this: Dependency 'tf:tf:1.0.0' not found less I checked the repository folder and the jar file is there, in ... tf\tf\1.0.0\ What I'm doing wrong?
