• Can I export a SharePoint list to an Excel file subdivided into separate worksheets?

  We have a SharePoint 2007 deployment which will have a substantially large document library. My client wants the ability to export this library to an Excel spreadsheet, but specifically wants the ability to divide the spreadsheet into several worksheets based on a specific field. Is this possible to accomplish in WSS 3.0, through the object model or otherwise? There is a out-of-the-box Export to Spreadsheet, but it does not appear to support automated subdivision of the list items into separate worksheets. I do not know if Excel Services that come with MOSS are capable of it, but we do not have MOSS so we cannot consider it an option for now.

• Import text file crunching library for Java/Groovy ?

  In a lot of real life implementations of applications we face the requirement to import some kind of (text) files. Usually we would implement some (hardcoded?) logic to validate the file (eg. proper header, proper number of delimiters, proper date/time value,etc.). Eventually also need to check for the existence of related data in a table (eg. value of field 1 in text file must have an entry in some basic data table). While XML solves this (to some extend) with XSD and DTD, we end up hacking this again and again for proprietary text file formats. Is there any library or framework that allows the creation of templates similar to the xsd approach ? This would make it way more flexible to react on file format changes or implement new formats. The stored procedure either gets the userid or insert the user if it is a new user. Am I correct to assume that the table is locked (only one server can insert/query)?

  I'm playing around with the Lahman Baseball Database in a MySQL instance. I want to find the players who topped home runs (HR) for each year.   I have a BoundField in a GridView whose datatype (in MSSQL) is time(7). The format is being displayed as: hh:mm:ss.xxxxxx I want to add a DataFormatString to this boundfield so that the field displays in the format: hh:mm:ss Here is a snippet of the .aspx file that I'm modifying: <asp:BoundField DataField="ProcTime" HeaderText="ProcTime" SortExpression="ProcTime" ApplyFormatInEditMode="true" HtmlEncode="true" DataFormatString="{0:F0}" /> I've tried many different format strings (t, T, d, D, m, etc) but it does not change the format of the boundfield. What am I missing?

  I want to retrieve the most recently added record from CoreData. I was wondering if that's possible using NSPredicate? If so, how? e.g. i have a one-to-many relationship between Department and Staff, and i want to fetch the Staff record that was most recently employed. The Staff table has a date field which can be used. I don't want to fetch all the Staff records and then look for the right one. Note that CoreData stores the related records in an NSSet.

• Delete all records that have no foreign key constraints

  I have a SQL 2005 table with millions of rows in it that is being hit by users all day and night. This table is referenced by 20 or so other tables that have foreign key constraints. What I am needing to do on a regular basis is delete all records from this table where the "Active" field is set to false AND there are no other records in any of the child tables that reference the parent record. What is the most efficient way of doing this short of trying to delete each one at a time and letting it cause SQL errors on the ones that violate constraints? Also it is not an option to disable the constraints and I cannot cause locks on the parent table for any significant amount of time.

  hi, i have a mysql table for votes. there's am id, a project_id and a vote field (which is 1 if a specific project is voted). now i want to generate a ranking from those entries. is there a way to get the number of votes for each project_id and automatically sort the entries by the number of TRUE votes of a project with a single mysql query? • How does the iPhone SDK Core Data system store date types to sqlite?

  I used core data to do this: NSManagedObjectContext *m = [self managedObjectContext]; Foo *f = (Foo *)[NSEntityDescription insertNewObjectForEntityForName:@"Foo" inManagedObjectContext:m]; f.created_at = [NSDate date]; [m insertObject:f]; NSError *error; [m save:&error]; Where the created_at field is defined as type "Date" in the xcdatamodel. When I export the sql from the sqlite database it created, created_at is defined as type "timestamp" and the values look like: 290902422.72624 Nine digits before the . and then some fraction. What is this format? It's not epoch time and it's not julianday format. Epoch would be: 1269280338.81213 julianday would be: 2455278.236746875 (notice only 7 digits before the . not 9 like I have) How can I convert a number like 290902422.72624 to epoch time? Thanks!

• Xcode 4: deleting items in Build Settings

  In XCode 4.0 there's a newly designed Build Settings page. My problem is that I can't see how to remove a setting once I've specified it. Example: I've changed "Versioning System" to "Apple Generic" at the target level. Afterwards I realised I should set it at the project level, and so I want to delete the target level setting. However, there's no way I can see to remove the setting -- you click on it and there's two options, neither of which is the default "not specified" empty setting. Hitting the delete key on the keyboard nothing. The same goes for fields that accept text -- if I try to delete a setting by just deleting all the text set, it still shows that field in green, but with no text in it, and regards it as the presence of a setting.

• this.optional() in jQuery validation method doesn't seem to work

  Hello, I've got a little problem here. I've got the following rule for one of my fields: StartDate: { required: isDelayed, dateRU: true } isDelayed() returns false, so I guess StartDate field should be optional. However if I check it inside my dateRU method: $.validator.addMethod( "dateRU", function(value, element) { return this.optional(element) || isValidDate($.trim(value)); }, "Date is incorrect" ); this.optional(element) always returns false for StartDate. I can't figure out what's wrong. Any ideas? UPD. Does optional() returns true only if element is not required AND IS EMPTY? 'Cause that may be my problem.

  I am trying to implement a multi-tenant application, that is - data of all clients in a single database - each shared table has a tenant_id field to separate data I wish to achieve data separation by adding where('tenant_id = ', $user->getTenantID()) {pseudoc-code} to all SELECT queries I could not find any solution up-front, but here are possible approaches I am considering. 1) crude approach: customizing all fetchAll and fetchOne functions in every class (I will go mad!) 2) using listeners: possibly coding for the preDqlSelect event and adding the 'where' to all queries 3) override buildQuery(): could not find an example of this for front-end 4) implement contentformfilter: again need a pointer Would appreciate if someone could validate these & comment on efficieny, suitability. • jquery - strange behavior in IE..

  I have an input field where name='id' <input type='hidden' name="id" /> While jquery lib works fine in Chrome, it fails in IE. It works when I change from id to idfield - but our server code breaks since it expects the form with element key id. Is there a work around for this?   I'm using the Drupal Quiz module, and have setup some basic quizzes and stuff like that. However some further customization is required, involving more than 1 question per page, and a multi-type answer in this type of format: Question 1: Describe 4 things you did last summer a) [ short answer space - text field ] b) "I wept" c) "My whole family died so I learned self reliance" d) "I got another xbox" Question 2: Describe 2 things you hate about yourself a) "My arms are way shorter than my legs" b) "I was born without human emotion" So I guess in two parts, how to show multiple questions per page, and then how to allow multiple text fields for answers.   I need to write a unit test suite for a project I am developing in my spare time. Being a CL newbie I was overwhelmed by the amount of choices for a CL implementation, I spent quite some time to choose one. Now I am facing exactly the same thing with unit test frameworks. A quick glance at http://www.cliki.net/test%20framework shows 20 unit test frameworks! Choice is good but for a novice like me this can be a bit confusing and given the number of frameworks it would be painful to try them all. I would like to use a framework which: Is reasonably well maintained Easy to use but with some degree of flexibility Offers some sort of integration with Emacs (or it is possible to easily integrate it with Emacs) Integration with git post-commit hooks Integration with a continous integration system (such as buildbot) What are your experiences in this field?

However any other fields will throw a javascript error. I'm wondering the best way to test to see if datepicker has already been initialized on that field.

• AutoComplete and VS2010 Internal WebDevServer caching ?

  Ok this is a simple setup: DB has a view with personnel who have not been added to the system. The AutoComplete dynamically lists a numeric column field from the view. (Using Linq2SQL) (with autotracking off) Once this number is consumed - a refresh is done on the sqlserver's view. The Problem: This number still shows up in the Autocomplete UNTIL the VS WebDev Server is closed. Question: Why is the WebDev caching the data? I have tried turning off viewstate of the textbox, turned off caching on the autocompleteextender, to no avail. Any help please ...

• How do I create a non-editable GXT ComboBox?

  I'm using GWT/GXT and trying to create a "normal" ComboBox - one that you cannot type in, but you can type a single character and it will automatically go to the first item in the list that starts with that letter. So, I don't want it READONLY, I want it so that you cannot replace the text in it with your own text (can't type characters into it). I cannot figure out how to get ComboBox or SimpleComboBox to do this. I've tried every combination of settings on it to no avail. I did see there is a GXT ListBox, but i need a component that extends from Field. Is there really no way to do this or am I missing something?

  Hi, I am creating an xml using php and parsing that xml in iphone application code. In description field there is some html tags and text. I am using following line to convert this html tags in to xml tag using CDATA. $response .= '<desc><![CDATA['.trim($feed['fulltext']).']]></desc>'; Now, here my $feed['fulltext'] value is like this <span class="ABC">...text...</span> In xml I am getting following response, <desc><![CDATA[><span class"ABC">...text...</span>]]></desc> You can see here, I am getting an extra greater-than symbol just before the value of $feed['fulltext'] starts. • What is the sense of permiting the user to use no passwords longer than xx chars?

  Its more like a usability question or maybe database, or even maybe security (consider injection attacks) but what is the sense of permiting the user's password to a be not longer than xx chars? It does not make any sense to me, because longer passwords are mostly considered better and even harder to crack, and some users use password safes, so the password length should not matter. I understand that passwords with more than 20 chars are hardly to remember, but if you use diceware or password safe you dont have any problem with that. I really cant understand why there are sites that say "your password need to be between 5 and 8 chars"... also should the password saved as hash, so the length of the field in the database is fixed, so where is the problem? i think that most of the sites where the password is has to be a fixed length are not even using any hashing method...

• Prevent Jcarousel from resetting to beginning position on page postback?

  I have a nice looking jarousel running from an asp:listview element, with asp:imagebuttons for the images. When clicked, the images in the carousel send the image id to querystring, and the new page is loaded with a larger version of the image and some asp:labels are filled in to describe the image. It looks and works great, except once the page reloads the jcarousel resets to original position, which is confusing to the user. What's the best way to prevent this? I tried using an UpdatePanel but couldn't figure out how to pass the querystring variable with the partial page update. I could pass the variable in a hidden field, but this wouldn't be very SEO friendly.
