    I'm converting a project from vs2008 to vs2010 and getting linker errors for std:ifstream/ofstream error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol "__declspec(dllimport) public: bool __thiscall std::basic_ofstream<char,struct std::char_traits<char> >::is_open(void)const " (__imp_?is_open@?$basic_ofstream@DU?$char_traits@D@std@@@std@@QBE_NXZ) Building static (/MT) or dll (/MD) with unicode or standard and release/debug gives the same error. Manually adding libcpmtd.lib (static) or msvcprtd.lib (dll) to the linker doesn't help. Has anyone else seen this?

  • Trying to run WCF web service on non-domain VM, Security Errors

    Am I in a Catch-22 situation here? My goal is to take a WCF service that I inherited, and run it on a VM and test it by calling it from my desktop PC. The VM is in a workgroup, and not in the company's domain. Basically, we need more test environments, ideally one per developer (we may have 2 to 4 people that need this). Thus the idea of the VM was that each developer could have his own web server that somewhat matches or real environment (where we actually have two websites, an external/exposed and internal). [Using VS2010 .NET 4.0] In the internal service, each method was decorated with this attribute: [OperationBehavior(Impersonation = ImpersonationOption.Required)] I'm still researching why this was needed. I think it's because a webapp calls the "internal" service, and either a) we need the credentials of the user, or b) we may doing some PrinciplePermission.Demands to see if the user is in a group. My interest is creating some ConsoleTest programs or UnitTest programs. I changed to allowed like this: [OperationBehavior(Impersonation = ImpersonationOption.Allowed)] because I was getting this error in trying to view the .svc in the browser: The contract operation 'EditAccountFamily' requires Windows identity for automatic impersonation. A Windows identity that represents the caller is not provided by binding ('WSHttpBinding','http://tempuri.org/') for contract ('IAdminService','http://tempuri.org/'. I don't get that error with the original bindings look like this: However, I believe I need to turn off this security since the web service is not on the domain. I tend to get these errors in the client: 1) The request for security token could not be satisfied because authentication failed - as an InnerException of "SecurityNegotiation was unhandled". or 2) The caller was not authenticated by the service as an InnerException of "SecurityNegotiation was unhandled". So can I create some configuration of code and web.config that will allow each developer to work on his own VM? Or must I join the VM to the domain? The number of permutations seems near endless. I've started to create a Word.doc that says what to do with each error, but now I'm in the catch-22 where I'm stuck.   • ILOG CPLEX: how to populate IloLPMatrix while using addGe to set up the model?

    I have a queatoin about IloLPMatrix and addGe. I was trying to follow the example of AdMIPex5.java to generate user defined cutting planes based on the solution to the LP relaxation. The difference is that eh initial MIP model is not read in from a mps file, but set up in the code using methods like addGe, addLe etc. I think this is why I ran into problems while copying the exampe to do the following. IloLPMatrix lp = (IloLPMatrix)cplex.LPMatrixIterator().next(); lp from the above line turns to be NULL. I am wondering 1. What is the relationship between IloLPMatrix and the addLe, addGe commands? I tried to addLPMatrix() to the model, and then used model.addGe methods. but the LPMatrix seems to be empty still. How do I populate the IloLPMatrix of the moel according to the value that I had set up using addGe and addLe. Is the a method to this easily, or do I have to set them up row by row myself? I was doing this to get the number of variables and their values by doing lp.getNumVars(). Is there other methods that I can use to get the number of variables and their values wihout doing these, since my system is set up by addLe, addGe etc? Thanks a lot for your help on this.

The compile is a success but it does not catch the view compilation errors. I have Vs2010 ultimate, vs 2008 developer+database edition on this machine. So either it compiles ignoring the errors with some combinations of the fixes I've tried, or it errors with Error 410 It is an error to use a section registered as allowDefinition='MachineToApplication' beyond application level.   • [OffTopic] PhD is it worth it?

    So I'll be graduating next year (hopefully) and lately I started thinking about getting a PhD in computer science (to be more precise I was thinking about something related to "distributed systems", don't have any specific topics yet in mind), but is it really worth it? A PhD course here lasts 4 years and is free IF you're doing the "normal one" (which means you have class from monday to friday) OR you have to pay if you want to study on the weekends. So I've been thinking about getting a normal full time job (as a JEE programmer) and doing my PhD during the weekends OR doing the normal PhD course (mon-fri) and getting a part time job as a software dev (the main reason I want a job is simple - I need to eat). That would give me practical working experience and theoretical knowledge+a PhD, but it would also mean working 7days a week from 9 to 5 for 4 years straight (sounds like an overkill). Is it, job wise, really worth getting a PhD? As an employer do you prefer people with PhDs or MScs? This might be kinda important - I'm not from the US or western europe, how are PhDs from other countries (I am graduating one of the best, if not the best, school in my country but it's still a central european country...) seen? Are they useless? I won't hide it - after graduation I am thinking about moving abroad.

    Developing a multilingual application in VB.Net 2008, Im able to add resources to forms and create a multilingual forms depending on uiculture. On reading Msdn on creating the multilingual string values for messagebox contents, have added the .resource file to the project files path as specified. There is no error on compilation but throws the MissingManifestResourceException error Dim rm As ResourceManager rm = ResourceManager.CreateFileBasedResourceManager("strFormResources", ".", Nothing) Dim ci As CultureInfo ci = New CultureInfo("fr-FR") MessageBox.Show(rm.GetString("sample1", ci)) Could not find any resources appropriate for the specified culture (or the neutral culture) on disk. baseName: strFormResources locationInfo: fileName: strFormResources.resources There is strFormResources.resources and strFormResources.fr-FR.resources in Resources of the project. I have searched for this error details but could not find a solution. What am i doing wrong or is there any other method for displaying multilingual strings in the messagebox. Thanks in advance

  • msbuild TransformWebConfig task - doesn't work for App.configs?

    I have a windows service that will need to have the same kind of transformations that the web.configs would use, but VS 2010 doesn't seem to support that. I've tried manually adding the App.Release.Config files, and then using msbuil [PROJ] /T:TransformWebConfig /p:Configuration=Release but no transformation is performed. I got a TransformWebConfig folder createed in my obj subdirectory, but that's it. Is this thing hardcoded to only work with web.configs?

  • Delete merge history in a branch in TFS

    Suppose I have a main branch and a dev branch. Suppose I merge some stuff from dev into main. I check in the merge Now I decide "whoops, the dev branch wasn't really ready for me to merge into main yet." I want to tell TFS: remove that change set from main and forget that the merge ever happened. Rolling back the changeset is easy enough -- I can use the TFS powertools ROLLBACK command. on the Main branch (with the /changeset /recursive flags) However, I will get a warning from the rollback that the merge history for the files has not been deleted. Effect: Later, when dev is ready to be merged into main, the changes in the files that were rolled back previously are NOT merged into Main (this is because TFS "thinks" that those merges are already done. My goal: When I rollback, make TFS remove the merge history so that when I merge dev into main later on, everything merges. How can I do that? BTW: I'm using TFS 2008 SP1
