• Prevent illegal behavior to the registered user

  I am building a website in which this website will be focused on the publishing of novels. Every writers who publish their novels with us will get a royalty from us. And this royalty comes from the user or the reader who read the novel online in our website. When a user search for a novel and want to read that, they will click a link to the page which its content is that novel. The html page for each novels will have a session function that first will force them to login or register to make a payment such as with a credit-card or paypal before accessing that html page. My problem now is if the user has succesfully login and access the html page, I am afraid if the user will copy the content of the novel. Some disccussion out here How to Disable Copy Paste (Browser) have a solution to create it in Flash so that it can't be coppied-paste. But the I think, if the user who access it is a web developer like us they will try to find the path of the file from the link in the page source, and then they can steal it. For now I think it is enough I am explaining this. I hope anyone fully accept this problem (question) with a good idea to solve it.

• problems with build params for accepts_nested_attributes_for

  I'm trying to add the user_id to a nested attribute that gets built by a parent controller but it doesn't seem to have the desired effect? Ie. I have a model called Place.rb which accepts_nested_attributes_for :reviews The nested attribute works fine and I build it inside the Places controller like so... @review = @place.reviews.build(:user_id => current_user.id) I was previously adding the user thru the form, but would like to do it thru the controller so that it only adds the user_id on creation, as it might get updated by someone else and i don't want the update changing the user_id... old way which works: <%= e.label :content, "Review" %><br /> <%= e.text_area :content, :rows => 20, :class => 'jquery_ckeditor' %><br /> <%= e.hidden_field :user_id, :value => current_user.id %> but thru the controller the build method with options has no effect? Any ideas? Can I not do this thru the build?

• Which Django 1.2.x multilingual application to use?

  There are a couple of different applications for internationalized content in Django. As of now I only have used http://code.google.com/p/django-multilingual/ in my production environments, but I wonder if there are "better" solutions for my wishes. What my staff users need is the following: An object is being created by a staff user in any language (e.g. "de") This object should be displayed in the german version of the website. When a staff user translates the object into a different language (e.g. "fr"), then the page must be visible in the french version as well. If an object is not translated in the visitor's currently selected language (e.g. "en"), then calling the objects url shall raise a 404 Error (or even better a notice that the object is only available in the languages "de" and "fr", and the visitor might be able to select one of the languages) My staff users are working in the admin interface, so the multilingual application must support this as well. I don't really care whether the multilingual app uses a single table with many fields (like title_en, title_de, title_fr) or a foreign key to a related table (as it is implemented in django-multlingual). I only want it to have a good admin interface and no "default" language, because some content might be available just in "de", and some other just in "fr" and "en". And the most important issue of course is compatibility with Django 1.2.x. What are your experiences and preferred apps, and why?

  Hello, I need to convert some code done by someone else, to work in my mvc model It is using some functions like EOD that I don't understand. Does that still work in a class? Primarely, my question focusus on the json output. • WPF Image change source when button is disabled

  Hi, I'm trying to show a different image when the button is disabled. Should be easy with triggers, right?! For some reason, I have not been able to get the images to switch. I've tried setting triggers on both the image and button. What is wrong with what I have below? How can I change the image source when the button is enabled/disabled?   I'm just trying to do a simple include statement in HTML. I have no clue why its not working. My file setup is basically index.php in the root and then a file called "includes" with a file "header.html" inside. • Problems running Ruby on Rails apps on shared hosted server

  I have problems installing any Ruby On Rails app on my shared hosted server. Mongrel shows html as plain text for all pages. The problem occurs for any app, even if I create a test empty app and add a scaffolded view without changing anything. It appears that the Mongrel crashes when trying to put cookies to the response header.   I have the following scenario: I have a button\link with a image inside like this: <button type="submit" id="myButton" class="button"><img src="../../Content/images/check.png" id="defaultImage" /> SaveData!!!</button> We are OK here! Now what I need to do is: I want on the click that the image change for a loading element that is previously loaded in the page like this: <img id="loadingImage" src="../../Content/images/loader.gif" style="display: none;" alt="loading"/> And then when the load complete turn back the old button image, I ended with this code: function loader() { var $button = $('#myButton'); if (btnState == '1') { $button.find('img').hide(); $button.prepend($('#loadingImage')); $('#loadingImage').css({ 'display': 'inherit' }); btnState = '0'; } else { $button.find('img').hide(); $button.prepend($('#defaultImage')); $('#defaultImage').show(); btnState = '1'; } } This does the trick for ONE SINGLE button(since I pass its ID in the function) but, when I have for example a grid with a button on each line, I found inviable when managing a screen with many buttons do this for each of then. The main question is: How can I make this method general for all buttons/links on one specific class in the page? The goal is: Click a button, get the image and change it and stop(can be manual). I just don't wanna have to Hook ALL buttons.

  I'm completely new to JQuery and MVC. I'm working on a pet project that uses both to learn them and I've hit my first snag. I have a date field and I want to add the JQuery datepicker to the UI. Here is what I have done: Added <script src="../../Scripts/jquery-1.3.2.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script> to the site.master Inside my Create.aspx (View), I have <asp:Content ID="Create" ContentPlaceHolderID="MainContent" runat="server"> <h2> Create a Task</h2> <% Html.RenderPartial("TaskForm"); %> </asp:Content> and inside "TaskForm" (a user control) I have: <label for="dDueDate"> Due Date</label> <%= Html.TextBox("dDueDate",(Model.Task.TaskID > 0 ? string.Format("{0:g}",Model.Task.DueDate) : DateTime.Today.ToString("MM/dd/yyyy"))) %> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { $("#dDueDate").datepicker(); }); </script> As you can see, the above checks to see if a task has an id 0 (we're not creating a new one) if it does, it uses the date on the task, if not it defaults to today. I would expect the datepicker UI element to show up, but instead I get: "Microsoft JScript runtime error: Object doesn't support this property or method" on the $("#dDueDate").datepicker(); Ideas? It is probably a very simple mistake, so don't over-analyze. As I said, this is the first time I've dealt with MVC or JQuery so I'm lost as to where to start.

• MVC view engine that can render classic ASP?

  I'm about to start integrating ASP.NET MVC into an existing 200k+ line classic ASP application. Rewriting the existing code (which runs an entire business, not just the public-facing website) is not an option. The existing ASP 3.0 pages are quite nicely structured (given what was available when this model was put into place nearly 15 years ago), like so: <!--#include virtual="/_lib/user.asp"--> <!--#include virtual="/_lib/db.asp"--> <!--#include virtual="/_lib/stats.asp"--> <!-- #include virtual="/_template/topbar.asp"--> <!-- #include virtual="/_template/lftbar.asp"--> <h1>page name</h1> <p>some content goes here</p> <p>some content goes here</p> <p>.....</p> <h2>Today's Top Forum Posts</h2> <%=forum_top_posts(1)%> <!--#include virtual="/_template/footer.asp"--> ... or somesuch. Some pages will include function and sub definitions, but for the most part these exist in include files. I'm wondering how difficult it would be to write an MVC view engine that could render classic ASP, preferably using the existing ASP.DLL. In that case, I could replace <!--#include virtual="/_lib/user.asp"--> with <%= Html.RenderPartial("lib/user"); %> as I gradually move existing pages from ASP to ASP.NET. Since the existing formatting and library includes are used very extensively, they must be maintained. I'd like to avoid having to maintain two separate versions. I know the ideal way to go about this would be to simply start a new app and say to hell with the ASP code, however, that simply ain't gonna happen. Ideas?

• Can I create template-based library objects in Dreamweaver CS5?

  At work we need two 'streams' of template. The first are general layout templates, like the ones already available in the MX through CS5 packages (except we'd have our own customised ones). The second are more granular objects, some of which are functional. In both cases, I don't want Jimmy to be able to wreak havoc inside anything other than the 'editable regions' which make up the templates. Now this is fine if I stick with the first scenario (layout templates) where there's simply a big chunk of editable region for good ole Jim to sprawl into, think of this as the 'body content' area. But I really do need these granular library (or snippet) objects to work in the same way. Unfortunately with my attempts so far they don't work as I'd have thought - perhaps for good reason? When I create a blank template and throw in my chunk of HTML (unobstrusive JS and external CSS use selectors in this HTML to provide style and function) and save it as a new library item or snippet, all looks well. Then I create a new document based on a layout template and save it as a plain html file (still all good so far). Next I drop in my custom library item... still all good... but then I go to save the document and it only allows me to save it as a new template! I expected it would just allow me to save it as HTML and have it simply respect the defined editable regions, as happens in the containing page 'body content' editable region. Apologies if that got specific and technical quite quickly, but it is quite particular. If you want some example files lemme know and I'll zip some up. Many thanks :) p.s It is not a requirement that library objects must somehow inject their dependency files into the newly created page - I already know what they'll be. Also, I know I must 'detatch from original' once I drop a library item into a document which then allows customisation of the library object.

• using jquery (json) to get ajax database entries in wordpress - PHP not working

  I'm writing a plugin for my wordpress site and am having trouble understanding the jquery ajax requests. In a nutshell, I am trying to get some user meta data loaded when the page loads. So in my javascript file I have a line: $.getJSON("http://mysite.co.uk/wp-content/plugins/myplugin/ajax/ajax.php?action=test", function(json) { // do stuff }); So the above DOES get called, but it's the PHP code I'm having trouble with. In the file ajax.php, I am making a database call, but NONE of the usual class information is available. I've tried including the admin ajax page, various other pages from my own plugin (which does work).... not sure what else to do! The database call method works OK in my plugin code.. but I guess that the ajax.php file is outside the WP framework so that's why it's not working... but I don't know how to get it IN the framework!? I just need to use the $wpdb->get_results($sql); command to get my SQL. The error returned from firebug is that I am making a call to an undefined function. • jquery Tab group IDs

  I'm having an issue with jQuery UI Tabs script which does not pick up tabs that have a dot "." in their name (ID). And apparently the Tabs JS implementation does not do that. Although I can do it at the tab group level, I cannot do it lower down because that's implemented in the Tabs JS file and I would not want to modify it (if possible).

• MVC: capture route url's and pass them to javascript function

  Short:Is there a way to have a route-definition that will pass the "CONTROLLER/ACTION" string value to a javascript function in stead of actually going straight for the controller action? More:I have a masterpage which contains the navigation of the site. Now, all the pages need this navigation wrapped around it at all times, but because I didn't want the navigation to constantly load with each pagecall, I changed all my pages to partialviews. These partial views are loaded via the JQuery.Load() method whenever a menu item is clicked in the navigation. This all worked very good, up till now because I noticed it's also a requirement of the website to be able to link directly to page X, rather then default.aspx. So, as an example:The main page is my "default.aspx" page, this utilizes my master page with the nagivation around it. And each call to a new page uses a javascript function that loads that particular partial view inside a div that is known in my masterpage. So, the url never changes away from "default.aspx", but my content changes seemlesly. The problem is, those url's also need to be available when typed directly into the address bar. But, they're partial views, so loading them directly from the address bar makes them display without any masterpages around them. Therefore my question if it might be possible to capture the route typed into the address bar and pass that on to my javascript function that will load that route in the content div. (I hope I explained it ok enough, if not, feel free to ask more information)

• ASP.MVC 2 RTM + ModelState Error at Id property

As I can see, for MVC validation 0 is invalid, but for me is valid. How can I fix it since, I didn't put any kind of validation in Id property? UPDATE: I don't know how or why, but renaming Id, in my case to PK, solves this problem. Do you know if this an issue in my logic/configuration or is an bug or expected behavior? Thank you

• How to Create Element in XSLT When Copying Using Templates

  Hello, I'm trying to create an element in an XML where the basic content is copied and modified. My XML is something like <root> <node> <child>value</child> <child2>value2</child2> </node> <node2>bla</node2> </root> The number of children of node may change as well as the children of root. The XSLT should copy the whole content, modify some values and add some new. The copying and modifying is no problem: <xsl:stylesheet xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" version="2.0"> <xsl:output method="xml" encoding="UTF-8"/> <xsl:template match="@*|node()"> <xsl:copy> <xsl:apply-templates select="@*|node()"/> </xsl:copy> </xsl:template> </xsl:stylesheet> (+ further templates for modifications). But how do I add a new element in this structure on some path, e.g. I want to add an element as the last element of the "node" node. The "node" element itself always exists.

• Does anyone know of a good Commercial WPF Web Browser Control?

  I have an MDI WPF app that I need to add web content too. At first, great it looks like I have 2 options built into the framework the Frame control and the WebBrowser control. Given that this is an MDI app it doesn't take long to discover that neither of these will work. The WebBrowser control wraps up the IE WebBrowser ActiveX Control which uses the Win32 graphics pipeline. The "Airspace" issue pretty much sums this up as "Sorry, the layouts will not play nice together". Yes, I have thought about taking snapshots of the web content rendering these and mapping the mouse and keyboard events back to the browser control, but I can't afford the performance penalty and I really don't have time to write and thoroughly test it. I have looked for third party controls, but so far I have only found Chris Cavanagh's WPF Chromium Web Browser control. Which wraps up Awesomium 1.5. Together these are very cool, they play nice with the WPF layouts. But they do not meet my performance requirements. They are VERY HEAVY on memory consumption and not to friendly with CPU usage either. Not to mention still quite buggy. I'll elaborate if you are interested. So, do any of you know of a stable performant WPF web browser control? Thanks.

• Show WPF tooltip on disabled item only

  Just wondering if it is possible to show a WPF on a disabled item ONLY (and not when the item is enabled). I would like to give the user a tooltip explaining why an item is currently disabled. I have an IValueConverter to invert the boolean IsEnabled property binding. But it doesn't seem to work in this situation. The tooltip is show both when the item is enabled and disabled. So is is possible to bind a tooltip.IsEnabled property exclusively to an item's own !IsEnabled?
