  Hi! When i try to register a person with the name Eric for example, and then again registrating Eric it works. This should not happen with the code i have. Eric should not be registrated if theres already an Eric in the list.   So maybe someone can point me in the right direction of what is causing this error? I've been fighting with this for a couple of hours and searching the web, and I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong here. • IDataServiceMetadataProvider / ResourceType.... what for dynamic types with no CLR type?

  Hello, I try to expose a database via ADO RIA for which we have only an ODBC based interface. The "database" is a server and new elements are developped all the time, so I would like the server to check metadata at start (using the odbc schema methods) and then expose what he finds via RIA services.... clients can the nregenerate when they need access to new elements. As such, I dont ahve any CLR types for all the tabled developped. ResourceType tableType = new ResourceType( typeof(object), ResourceTypeKind.EntityType, null, "Martini", table_name, false ); tableType.CanReflectOnInstanceType = false; I can somehow not put in NULl as CLR element type, and entering typeof(object) seems to result in reflection errors when trying to access the properties. Any documentation on how to do that? I dont really want to get into having types... though if I have to, I probably will dynamically generate some via bytecode emit.

• How do I free SQLServerCE's COM instance from the current running process?

  It's been a while since I touched COM so be nice ;) This is under WindowsCE 5.0 with SQLServerCE 2.0. After calling this to load SQLServerCE 2.0 : - IDBInitialize *pIDBInitialize = NULL; CoCreateInstance(CLSID_SQLSERVERCE_2_0, NULL, CLSCTX_INPROC_SERVER, IID_IDBInitialize, (void**)&pIDBInitialize); Module load occurs for SSCE20.dll which obviously loads the SQLServerCE engine into the process space. What I don't understand is if I do this immediately after :- pIDBInitialize->Release(); I don't see a dll module unload, so that SSCE20.dll (and friends) are still loaded into my process. Now I tried CoFreeUnusedLibraries() which I figure forces COM to purge any unused libraries, but it doesn't seem to do the trick. At runtime I want to be able to completely unload the SQLServerCE 2.0 dll from the process to streamline an upgrade to 3.5SP1. I suspect this has something to do with the shared dll model that Microsoft use under WindowsCE... but, I might be wrong :) Thanks in advance, David.

Now if I run both applications and observe opened TCP connections using netstat, I find that: If both client and server are running on same machine, number of tcp connections are equal to number of proxy objects. It means all requests are being served in parallel. Which is good. If I run server on a separate machine, I observed that maximum 2 TCP connections are opened regardless of the number of proxy objects I create. Only 2 requests run in parallel. It hurts the processing speed badly. If I switch to net.tcp binding, everything works fine (a separate TCP connection for each proxy object even if they are running on different machines). I am very confused and unable to make the basicHttpBinding use more TCP connections. I know it is a long question, but please help!

  I have a property int? MyProperty as a member in my datasource (ObjectDataSource). Can I bind this to a TextBox, like <asp:TextBox ID="MyTextBox" runat="server" Text='<%# Bind("MyProperty") %>' /> Basically I want to get a null value displayed as blank "" in the TextBox, and a number as a number. If the TextBox is blank MyProperty shall be set to null. If the TextBox has a number in it, MyProperty should be set to this number. If I try it I get an exception: "Blank is not a valid Int32". But how can I do that? How to work with nullable properties and Bind? Thanks in advance!

• Websphere MQ using JMS, closed connections stuck on the MQ

  I have a simple JMS application deployed on OC4J under AIX server, in my application I'm listening to some queues and sending to other queues on a Websphere MQ deployed under AS400 server. The problem is that my connections to these queues are terminated/closed when it stays idle for some time with the error MQJMS1016 (this is not the problem), and when that happens I attempt to recover the connection and it works, however, the old connection is stuck at the MQ and would not terminate until it is terminated manually.   Hi, We have a web application running in a production enviroment and at some point the client complained about how slow the application got. When we checked what was going on with the application and the database we discover this "precious" query that was being executed by several users at the same time (thus inflicting an extremely high load on the database server): SELECT NULL AS table_cat, o.owner AS table_schem, o.object_name AS table_name, o.object_type AS table_type, NULL AS remarks FROM all_objects o WHERE o.owner LIKE :1 ESCAPE :"SYS_B_0" AND o.object_name LIKE :2 ESCAPE :"SYS_B_1" AND o.object_type IN(:"SYS_B_2", :"SYS_B_3") ORDER BY table_type, table_schem, table_name Our application does not execute this query, I believe it is an Hibernate internal query. I've found little information on why Hibernate does this extremely heavy query, so any help in how to avoid it very much appreciated!   i just introduced a bug into my code because i seem to have misunderstood the jsp tag lifecycle. The tag worked like this before the bug: i pass the tag some collection as an attribute, and it displays it as a table. The collection was passed into the JSP from the controller. after the bug: a removed the attribute which set the collection. instead, in the tag i check if the collection is null, and then grab it by name from the request (using a naming convention). the thing that i didnt expect: after the collection was initially set in the tag, it would never become null on subsequent executions! it was still defined as an non-requred attribute in the TLD. I expected the tag to not hold on to previous values between executions.

I can draw the hBitmap which is used to create the brush and it draws the gradient. Anyone got a solution?

However, when users from other offices (separate network, with firewall open) they get a password request input box. Why are they getting the password dialogue? What is the recommended way identify users of the app? I want to avoid using password, but windows identities. Anyone attempting to access the application is inside a trusted network. My question is; how do I make my templated data structure inherit from a singleton so you can only have one float type of this structure? I have tested both seperate and have found no problems.   I have a many-to-many relationship between two tables, let's say Friends and Foods. If a friend likes a food I stick a row into the FriendsFoods table, like this: ID Friend Food 1 'Tom' 'Pizza' FriendsFoods has a Primary Key 'ID', and two non-null foreign keys 'Friend' and 'Food' to the 'Friends' and 'Foods' tables, respectively. Now suppose I have a Friend tom .NET object corresponding to 'Tom', and Tom no longer likes pizza (what is wrong with him?) FriendsFoods ff = tom.FriendsFoods.Where(x => x.Food.Name == 'Pizza').Single(); tom.FriendsFoods.Remove(ff); pizza.FriendsFoods.Remove(ff); If I try to SubmitChanges() on the DataContext, I get an exception because it attempts to insert a null into the Friend and Food columns in the FriendsFoods table. I'm sure I can put together some kind of convoluted logic to track changes to the FriendsFoods table, intercept SubmitChanges() calls, etc to try and get this to work the way I want, but is there a nice, clean way to remove a Many-To-Many relationship with LINQ-To-SQL?

• Sanitizing incoming XML via WCF

  I am consuming a Java webservice from .net using WCF. I am getting an error on deserialization of a response from the Java service The byte 0x00 is not valid at this location. Line 1, position 725. I know from some research that this is an incorrectly encoded null, but I am unlikely to get the provider to change it, so I would like to sanitize the null out before WCF deserializes the return message. Any Ideas? I am using c#, but answers in any CLR language will do.

  I am using JPA with openjpa implementation beneath, on a Geronimo application server. I am also using MySQL database. I have a problem with updating object with nullable Date property. When I'm trying to merge entity with Date property set to null, no sql update script is generated (or when other fields are modified, sql update script is generated, but date field is ommited from it). If date field is set to some other not null value, update script is properly generated. Did anyone have problem like that?
