Regular expression for finding non-breaking string names in code and then breaking them up for SQL q

I am trying to devlop a regex for finding camel case strings in several code files I am working with so I can break them up into separate words for use in a SQL query. I have strings of the form... EmailAddress FirstName MyNameIs And I want them like this... Email Address First Name My Name Is An example SQL query which I currently have is... select FirstName, MyNameIs from MyTables I need the queries in the form... select FirstName as 'First Name', MyNameIs as 'My Name Is' from MyTables Any time a new capital letter appears that should be a new grouping which I can pick out of the matched string. I currently have the following regex... ([A-Z][a-z]+)+ Which does match the cases I have shown above but when I want to perform a replace I need to define groups. Currently I have tried... (([A-Z])([a-z]+))+ Which sort of works. It will pick out "Address" as the first grouping from "EmailAddress" as opposed to "Email" which is what I was expecting. No doubt there is something I'm misunderstanding here so any help is greatly appreciated.

Extremely strange glitch in Chrome - parses contents of string!

How stupid! How can I put </script> in my code. Is there any way? Is there a valid reason for this behavior?

Am I just not understanding TDD unit testing (Asp.Net MVC project)?

I am trying to figure out how to correctly and efficiently unit test my Asp.net MVC project. When I started on this project I bought the Pro ASP.Net MVC, and with that book I learned about TDD and unit testing. After seeing the examples, and the fact that I work as a software engineer in QA in my current company, I was amazed at how awesome TDD seemed to be. So I started working on my project and went gun-ho writing unit tests for my database layer, business layer, and controllers. Everything got a unit test prior to implementation. At first I thought it was awesome, but then things started to go downhill. Here are the issues I started encountering: I ended up writing application code in order to make it possible for unit tests to be performed. I don't mean this in a good way as in my code was broken and I had to fix it so the unit test pass. I mean that abstracting out the database to a mock database is impossible due to the use of linq for data retrieval (using the generic repository pattern). The reason is that with linq-sql or linq-entities you can do joins just by doing: var objs = select p from _container.Projects select p.Objects; However, if you mock the database layer out, in order to have that linq pass the unit test you must change the linq to be var objs = select p from _container.Projects join o in _container.Objects on o.ProjectId equals p.Id select o; Not only does this mean you are changing your application logic just so you can unit test it, but you are making your code less efficient for the sole purpose of testability, and getting rid of a lot of advantages using an ORM has in the first place. Furthermore, since a lot of the IDs for my models are database generated, I proved to have to write additional code to handle the non-database tests since IDs were never generated and I had to still handle those cases for the unit tests to pass, yet they would never occur in real scenarios. Thus I ended up throwing out my database unit testing. Writing unit tests for controllers was easy as long as I was returning views. However, the major part of my application (and the one that would benefit most from unit testing) is a complicated ajax web application. For various reasons I decided to change the app from returning views to returning JSON with the data I needed. After this occurred my unit tests became extremely painful to write, as I have not found any good way to write unit tests for non-trivial json. After pounding my head and wasting a ton of time trying to find a good way to unit test the JSON, I gave up and deleted all of my controller unit tests (all controller actions are focused on this part of the app so far). So finally I was left with testing the Service layer (BLL). Right now I am using EF4, however I had this issue with linq-sql as well. I chose to do the EF4 model-first approach because to me, it makes sense to do it that way (define my business objects and let the framework figure out how to translate it into the sql backend). This was fine at the beginning but now it is becoming cumbersome due to relationships. For example say I have Project, User, and Object entities. One Object must be associated to a project, and a project must be associated to a user. This is not only a database specific rule, these are my business rules as well. However, say I want to do a unit test that I am able to save an object (for a simple example). I now have to do the following code just to make sure the save worked: User usr = new User { Name = "Me" }; _userService.SaveUser(usr); Project prj = new Project { Name = "Test Project", Owner = usr }; _projectService.SaveProject(prj); Object obj = new Object { Name = "Test Object" }; _objectService.SaveObject(obj); // Perform verifications There are many issues with having to do all this just to perform one unit test. There are several issues with this. For starters, if I add a new dependency, such as all projects must belong to a category, I must go into EVERY single unit test that references a project, add code to save the category then add code to add the category to the project. This can be a HUGE effort down the road for a very simple business logic change, and yet almost none of the unit tests I will be modifying for this requirement are actually meant to test that feature/requirement. If I then add verifications to my SaveProject method, so that projects cannot be saved unless they have a name with at least 5 characters, I then have to go through every Object and Project unit test to make sure that the new requirement doesn't make any unrelated unit tests fail. If there is an issue in the UserService.SaveUser() method it will cause all project, and object unit tests to fail and it the cause won't be immediately noticeable without having to dig through the exceptions. Thus I have removed all service layer unit tests from my project. I could go on and on, but so far I have not seen any way for unit testing to actually help me and not get in my way. I can see specific cases where I can, and probably will, implement unit tests, such as making sure my data verification methods work correctly, but those cases are few and far between. Some of my issues can probably be mitigated but not without adding extra layers to my application, and thus making more points of failure just so I can unit test. Thus I have no unit tests left in my code. Luckily I heavily use source control so I can get them back if I need but I just don't see the point. Everywhere on the internet I see people talking about how great TDD unit tests are, and I'm not just talking about the fanatical people. The few people who dismiss TDD/Unit tests give bad arguments claiming they are more efficient debugging by hand through the IDE, or that their coding skills are amazing that they don't need it. I recognize that both of those arguments are utter bullocks, especially for a project that needs to be maintainable by multiple developers, but any valid rebuttals to TDD seem to be few and far between. So the point of this post is to ask, am I just not understanding how to use TDD and automatic unit tests?

SSIS String or binary data would be truncated. The statement has been terminated.

When I run SSIS package from BIDS it runs fine without any error / problem. When I try to call it through a ASP.NET website I get the following error - "String or binary data would be truncated. The statement has been terminated." I checked all the columns / data to see if anything is exceeding the limit, everything is fine. I can run the package through command line using dtexec C:dtexec /f "C:\temp\MyTempPackage.dtsx", it executes without any problem . The problem is when I try to run it through ASP.NET. The following is the code that I am trying to use - //DTS Runtime Application Application app = new Application(); //DTS Package Package package = app.LoadPackage(packagePath, null); //Execute and Get the result DTSExecResult result = package.Execute(); I am making a call to a webservice from asp.net which has the above code. Both the webservice and website have identity impersonation enabled. I have identity enabled in my web.config for this <identity impersonate="true" userName="MyUserName" password="MyPassword"/> This problem is only when I am trying to import a Excel file (.xlsx) when I import a .txt file everything is fine. Excel Import blew up in both 32bit and 64bit enviornments. Help on how to make this to work is greatly appreciated.

PHP: Use a string as an array index path to retreive a value.

Say I have an array like: Array ( [0] => Array ( [Data] => Array ( [id] => 1 [title] => Manager [name] => John Smith ) ) [1] => Array ( [Data] => Array ( [id] => 1 [title] => Clerk [name] => ( [first] => Jane [last] => Smith ) ) ) ) I want to be able to build a function that I can pass a string to that will act as the array index path and return the appropriate array value without using eval(). Is that possible? function($indexPath, $arrayToAccess) { //$indexPath would be something like [0]['Data']['name'] which would return //"Manager" or it could be [1]['Data']['name']['first'] which would return //"Jane" but the amount of array indexs that will be in the index path can //change, so there might be 3 like the first example, or 4 like the second. return $arrayToAccess[$indexPath] <-obviously wont work }

With XSLT, how can I use this if-test with an array, when search element is returned by a template call inside the for loop?

I think this simple example might ask the question a lot more clearly. I have an input file with multiple products. There are 10 types of product (2 product IDs is fine enough for this example), but the input will have 200 products, and I only want to output the info for the first product of each type. (Output info for the lowest priced one, so the first one will be the lowest price because I sort by Price first.) So I want to read in each product, but only output the product's info if I haven't already output a product with that same ID. I couldn't figure out how to get the processID template to return a value that I need to do my if-check on, that uses parameters from inside the for-each Product loop -then properly close the if tag in the right place so it won't output the open Product tag unless it passes the if test. How To Correctly Specify A Default Value For A String Field In A PHP/MySQL Prepared Statement

I'm trying to debug some auto-generated code, but I am a mySQL noob. Everything goes fine ultil the "prepare" line below, and then for some reason $mysqli_stmt is false, yielding the stated error. Could it have something to do with the SQL_MODE = 'ANSI'? The failure seems to have something to do with the string 'xxx' below, but it still happens no matter what I change it to. I have a problem with replacing html elements. For example, there is a table <table><tr><td id="idTABLE">0</td><td>END</td></tr></table> (it can be div, span, anything) And string in JS script var str='<td>1</td><td>2</td>'; (it can be anything, '123 text', '<span123 element</span 456' or ' <tr<td123</td ' or anything) How can I replace element 'idTABLE' with str? I mean really replace, so <table><tr><td id="__TABLE__">0</td><td>END</td></tr></table> becomes <table><tr><td>1</td><td>2</td><td>END</td></tr></table> //str='<td>1</td><td>2</td>'; <table><tr>123 text<td>END</td></tr></table> //'123 text' <table><tr> tr><td>123</td> <td>END</td></tr></table> //' <tr><td>123</td> ' I tried with createElement, replaceChild, cloneNode, but with no result at all =(

Why new String(bytes, enc).getBytes(enc) does not return the original byte array?

I made the following "simulation": byte[] b = new byte[256]; for (int i = 0; i < 256; i ++) { b[i] = (byte) (i - 128); } byte[] transformed = new String(b, "cp1251").getBytes("cp1251"); for (int i = 0; i < b.length; i ++) { if (b[i] != transformed[i]) { System.out.println("Wrong : " + i); } } For cp1251 this outputs only one wrong byte - at position 23. For KOI8-R - all fine. For cp1252 - 4 or 5 differences. What is the reason for this and how can this be overcome? I know it is wrong to represent byte arrays as strings in whatever encoding, but it is a requirement of the protocol of a payment provider, so I don't have a choice. Update: representing it in ISO-8859-1 works, and I'll use it for the byte[] part, and cp1251 for the textual part, so the question remains only out of curiousity

When to use basic types (Integer, String), and when to write a new class?

Stackoverflow users: A lot of things can be represented in programs by using the basic types, or we can create a new class for it. Example: A social security number can be a number, string or its own object. (Other common examples: Phone numbers, names, zip codes, user id, order id and other id's.) My question is: When should the basic types be used, and when should we write ourselves a new class? I see that when you need to add behavior, you'll want to create a class (example, social security number parsing, validation, formatting, etc). But is this the only criteria? I have come across cases where many of these things are represented as java Integers and/or Strings. We loose the benefit of type-checking, and I have often seen bugs caused by parameters being mixed in calls to function(Intever, Integer, Integer, Integer). On the other hand, some programmers are opposed to over-designing by creating classes for "eveything". Obviously, the answer is "it depends". But, what do you think, and what do you normally do?

Writing an OS for Motorola 68K processor. Can I emulate it? And can I test-drive OS development?

Next term, I'll need to write a basic operating system for Motorola 68K processor as part of a course lab material. Is there a Linux emulator of a basic hardware setup with that processor? So my partners and I can debug quicker on our computers instead of physically restarting the board and stuff. Is it possible to apply test-driven development technique to OS development? Code will be mostly assembly and C. What will be the main difficulties with trying to test-drive this? Any advice on how to do it?

How to add an object to a html string?

I'm trying to load several images by a drop action and than resizing them and adding them as a thumbnail. The resize part is very important because the images can be very large and I want to make the thumbnails small of size. When a file is loaded I add html to an array which I will print if the load is complete. The problem is I can't seem to add the img object (I need this object to resize the image) to the html string, which seems obvious as the img is an object... So my question to you guys is: how do I do this? :)

Would I need to use regex twice and can I change the inside of the <a ... >...</a> using regex or is there an easier way with C#?

C#, How to download file into string with progress callback?

I would like to use the WebClient (or there is another better option?) but there is a problem. I understand that opening up the stream takes some time and this can not be avoided. However, reading it takes a strangely much more amount of time compared to read it entirely immediately. Of course it's not working good because i'm not so familiar with streams. Is there a best way to do this? I mean two ways, to string and to file. Progress is my own delegate and it's working good. Help with Boost Grammar

I have been using the following win32 console code to try to parse a B Machine Grammar embedded within C++ using Boost Spirit grammar template. I am a relatively new Boost user. The code compiles, but when I run the .exe file produced by VC++2008, the program partially parses the input file. Searching in Ruby on Rails - How do I search on each word entered and not the exact string?

I have built a blog application w/ ruby on rails and I am trying to implement a search feature. The blog application allows for users to tag posts. The tags are created in their own table and belong_to :post. When a tag is created, so is a record in the tag table where the name of the tag is tag_name and associated by post_id. Tags are strings. I am trying to allow a user to search for any word tag_name in any order. Here is what I mean. Lets say a particular post has a tag that is 'ruby code controller'. In my current search feature, that tag will be found if the user searches for 'ruby', 'ruby code', or 'ruby code controller'. It will not be found if the user types in 'ruby controller'. Essentially what I am saying is that I would like each word entered in the search to be searched for, not necessarily the 'string' that is entered into the search. I have been experimenting with providing multiple textfields to allow the user to type in multiple words, and also have been playing around with the code below, but can't seem to accomplish the above. I am new to ruby and rails so sorry if this is an obvious question and prior to installing a gem or plugin I thought I would check to see if there was a simple fix. Javascript problem when setting src for img element in FireFox - string parsing error?

I'm having problems with image's on the page. I'm using Javascript to create the elements, and in FireFox it seems the string that I'm using to set the innerHTML is not being parsed correctly. I'll see this when the server page is requested with invalid GET variables. They look like this (from the PHP script's error handler): GET[] = Array ( [shrink] => true [file_id] => \' file_id \' [refresh] => \' now.getTime() \' ) This only happens for about 5% of requests, which is making it difficult to solve. I have been able to reproduce this myself in FireFox, and Firebug will show that the URL it is trying to fetch is: https://www.domain.com/secure/%27%20+%20image_src%20+%20%27 I read somewhere that it might be related to FireFox prefetching content (can't find it googling now), since it seems to only happen on FireFox. Disabling prefetching in about:config does prevent the problem from occurring, but I'm looking for another solution or workaround that doesn't involve end users changing their configurations. Here's the specifics and code: I have an empty table cell on an HTML page. In JQuery's $(document).ready() function for the page, I used JQuery's $.ajax() method to get some data from the server about what should be in that cell. It returns the file_id variable, which for simplicity I just set below. It then sets the empty table cell to have an image with src that points to a page that will serve the image file depending on what file_id is passed. Storing and displaying unicode string (??????) using PHP and MySQL

I have to store hindi text in a MySQL database, fetch it using a PHP script and display it on a webpage. I did the following: I created a database and set its encoding to UTF-8 and also the collation to utf8_bin. I added a varchar field in the table and set it to accept UTF-8 text in the charset property. Then I set about adding data to it. Here I had to copy data from an existing site. The hindi text looks like this: ????????:05:30 I directly copied this text into my database and used the PHP code echo(utf8_encode($string)) to display the data. Upon doing so the browser showed me "??????". When I inserted the UTF equivalent of the text by going to "view source" in the browser, however, ???????? translates into सूर्योदय. If I enter and store सूर्योदय in the database, it converts perfectly. So what I want to know is how I can directly store ???????? into my database and fetch it and display it in my webpage using PHP. Also, can anyone help me understand if there's a script which when I type in ????????, gives me सूर्योदय? Solution Found I wrote the following sample script which worked for me. Securing an ASP.NET MVC 2 Application

This post attempts to look at some of the methods that can be used to secure an ASP.NET MVC 2 Application called Northwind Traders Human Resources. The sample code for the project is attached at the bottom of this post. We are going to use a slightly modified Northwind database. The screen capture from SQL server management studio shows the change. I added a new column called Salary, inserted some random salaries for the employees and then turned off AllowNulls. The reporting relationship for Northwind Employees is shown below. The requirements for our application are as follows: Employees can see their LastName, FirstName, Title, Address and Salary Employees are allowed to edit only their Address information Employees can see the LastName, FirstName, Title, Address and Salary of their immediate reports Employees cannot see records of non immediate reports. Employees are allowed to edit only the Salary and Title information of their immediate reports. Employees are not allowed to edit the Address of an immediate report Employees should be authenticated into the system. Employees by default get the “Employee” role. In sp2007 the field type was Choice, however, in sp2010 it is actually Computed. I have tried using the Computed field type with no luck.
