• How do I set the timeout for a JAX-WS webservice client?

  I've used JAXWS-RI 2.1 to create an interface for my web service, based on a WSDL. I can interact with the web service no problems, but haven't been able to specify a timeout for sending requests to the web service. If for some reason it does not respond the client just seems to spin it's wheels forever. Hunting around has revealed that I should probably be trying to do something like this: ((BindingProvider)myInterface).getRequestContext().put("com.sun.xml.ws.request.timeout", 10000); ((BindingProvider)myInterface).getRequestContext().put("com.sun.xml.ws.connect.timeout", 10000); I also discovered that, depending on which version of JAXWS-RI you have, you may need to set these properties instead: ((BindingProvider)myInterface).getRequestContext().put("com.sun.xml.internal.ws.request.timeout", 10000); ((BindingProvider)myInterface).getRequestContext().put("com.sun.xml.internal.ws.connect.timeout", 10000); The problem I have is that, regardless of which of the above is correct, I don't know where I can do this. All I've got is a Service subclass that implements the auto-generated interface to the webservice and at the point that this is getting instanciated, if the WSDL is non-responsive then it's already too late to set the properties: MyWebServiceSoap soap; MyWebService service = new MyWebService("http://www.google.com"); soap = service.getMyWebServiceSoap(); soap.sendRequestToMyWebService(); Can anyone point me in the right direction?!

  Hello, I finished installation of PHPUnit, it works but I don't get a code coverage report. I'm working on windows. If I run phpunit --configuration phpunit.xml --coverage-html \log or phpunit --configuration phpunit.xml --coverage-html log I get the error The Xdebug extension is not loaded. But I installed it (version 2.0.5)! phpinfo() says I installed it, also var_dump(extension_loaded('xdebug')) I get true. I installed it as Zend Extension and I tried also as normal extension. Bot worked, but PHPUnit says everytime Xdebug is not loaded!

• Adding View extending from SurfaceView to layout gives me a blank screen

  I'm very new to Android programming, so this is probably something pretty basic. I just have an xml layout with a few buttons. I'm trying to follow the model given by the JetBoy demo, so I'm adding a view to the layout which extends SurfaceView. When this new view is put in my xml layout, I just get a blank screen. Here's the XML layout if it helps. • Getting fields_for and accepts_nested_attributes_for to work with a belongs_to relationship

  I cannot seem to get a nested form to generate in a rails view for a belongs_to relationship using the new accepts_nested_attributes_for facility of Rails 2.3. I did check out many of the resources available and it looks like my code should be working, but fields_for explodes on me, and I suspect that it has something to do with how I have the nested models configured. The error I hit is a common one that can have many causes: '@account[owner]' is not allowed as an instance variable name Here are the two models involved: class Account < ActiveRecord::Base # Relationships belongs_to :owner, :class_name => 'User', :foreign_key => 'owner_id' accepts_nested_attributes_for :owner has_many :users end class User < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :account end Perhaps this is where I am doing it 'rong', as an Account can have an 'owner', and may 'users', but a user only has one 'account', based on the user model account_id key. This is the view code in new.html.haml that blows up on me: - form_for :account, :url => account_path do |account| = account.text_field :name - account.fields_for :owner do |owner| = owner.text_field :name And this is the controller code for the new action: class AccountsController < ApplicationController # GET /account/new def new @account = Account.new end end When I try to load /account/new I get the following exception: NameError in Accounts#new Showing app/views/accounts/new.html.haml where line #63 raised: @account[owner] is not allowed as an instance variable name If I try to use the mysterious 'build' method, it just bombs out in the controller, perhaps because build is just for multi-record relationships: class AccountsController < ApplicationController # GET /account/new def new @account = Account.new @account.owner.build end end You have a nil object when you didn't expect it! The error occurred while evaluating nil.build If I try to set this up using @account.owner_attributes = {} in the controller, or @account.owner = User.new, I'm back to the original error, "@account[owner] is not allowed as an instance variable name". Does anybody else have the new accepts_nested_attributes_for method working with a belongs_to relationship? Is there something special or different you have to do? All the official examples and sample code (like the great stuff over at Ryans Scraps) is concerned with multi-record associations.

• Configuring xUnit test output in Hudson

  I have a simple PoC project in Hudson. The PoC has unit tests written via UnitTest++ and outputs the results as XML for consumption by xUnit to munge into jUnit format. Here are the salient relevant I have my project configured to use MSBuild to build the 2008 solution. The project contains both the dll it is to build and the unit tests which are run as a post-build step. My workspace in Hudson is set to c:\develop\money (Money is the name of the project) and in the Hudson console I can see the workspace folders, the solution file and output folders (/bin, /doc, etc). The test console app outputs its file 'money_unit_tests.xml' to the folder 'reports' (making c:\develop\money\reports). I've restarted Hudson since installing xUnit and setting the workspace. However when I start Hudson building I am given the following message: [xUnit] Starting to record. [xUnit] [UnitTest] - Use the embedded style sheet. [xUnit] [ERROR] - No test report file(s) were found with the pattern 'reports/money_unit_tests.xml' relative to 'C:\.hudson\jobs\Money\workspace' for the testing framework 'UnitTest'. Did you enter a pattern relative to the correct directory? Did you generate the result report(s) for 'UnitTest'? [xUnit] Stopping recording. Finished: FAILURE Why does Hudson seem to think the workspace is in C:.hudson... and not C:\Develop...? What can I do change it? If I can't change it, what can I do to mitigate these changes? (I don't exactly want to hardcode the output for the xml to C:.hudson...)

  I have several User Controls in a project, and one of them retrieves items from an XML, creates objects of the type "ClassItem" and should notify the other UserControl information about those items. I have created a class for my object (the "model" all items will have): public class ClassItem { public int Id { get; set; } public string Type { get; set; } } I have another class that is used to notify the other User Controls when an object of the type "ClassItem" is created: public class Class2: INotifyPropertyChanged { // Properties public ObservableCollection<ClassItem> ItemsCollection { get; internal set; } // Events public event PropertyChangedEventHandler PropertyChanged; // Methods public void ShowItems() { ItemsCollection = new ObservableCollection<ClassItem>(); if (PropertyChanged != null) { PropertyChanged(this, new PropertyChangedEventArgs("ItemsCollection")); } } } The data comes from an XML file that is parsed in order to create the objects of type ClassItem: void DisplayItems(string xmlContent) { XDocument xmlItems = XDocument.Parse(xmlContent); var items = from item in xmlItems.Descendants("item") select new ClassItem{ Id = (int)item.Element("id"), Type = (string)item.Element("type) }; } If I'm not mistaken, this is supposed to parse the xml and create a ClassItem object for each item it finds in the XML. Hence, each time a new ClassItem object is created, this should fire the Notifications for all the UserControls that are "bind" to the "ItemsCollection" notifications defined in Class2. Yet the code in Class2 doesn't even seem to be run :-( and there are no notifications of course... Am I mistaken in any of the assumptions I've done, or am I missing something?   I have my persistence.xml with the same name, using toplink, under META-INF directory. Then I have my code calling it with...   I am a bit perplexed on how to catch a specific error type of Microsoft.SharePoint.SoapServer.SoapServerException, I'll explain why, and I've included a code sample below for you guys to see. As you know there are 2 ways to interact with MOSS. The object model (only runs on MOSS Server) Web Services (can be run on a remote machine querying the MOSS server) So as per code sample I'm using web services to query MOSS, because of this I don't have sharepoint installed on the remote server running these web services and without MOSS installed its impossible to reference the SharePoint DLL to get the specific error type : Microsoft.SharePoint.SoapServer.SoapServerException. If I can't reference the DLL then how the heck am I supposed to catch this specific error type? • Installing MonoTouch - ibtool not found error

  I've had Xcode (3.2.1 - SnowLeopard, iphone 3.1.3) installed for a while, and I can run and build apps on it fine. I installed MonoTouch, as I want to leverage the 8+ years of .NET skills I have :) So I installed: Mono: MonoFramework-2.6.1_1.macos10.novell.x86 MonoTouch: monotouch-eval-1.5.0 MonoDevelop: MonoDevelop-2.2.1-r152508 (was 2.2.1, but when I started it up, it said there was an update, which I installed - thats the update version) If I make a new project and build it, I get any of the following errors: Build failed. Object reference not set to the instance of an object. Build failed: ibtool not found (btw, it's in /Developer/usr/bin/ibtool) or a similar one to the second one if I use the older (2.2.1 released) version of MonoTouch. I can't find any debug info anywhere. I could reinstall XCode/iPhone SDK, but as it already is installed and works (and no, this isn't a SL upgrade), it doesn't make sense. Anyone got any ideas? I SO want to use MonoTouch - Obj-C drives me up the wall! Console apps (mono ones) work fine. Mac OS X 10.6.2, Macbook Pro, clean install with old settings moved over.

  Hello I'm trying to create what I think should be a relatively simple business rule to operate over repeating elements in an XML schema. Consider the following XML snippet (this is simplified with namespaces removed, for readability): <Root> <AllAccounts> <Account id="1" currentPayment="10.00" arrearsAmount="25.00"> <AllCustomers> <Customer id="20" primary="true" canSelfServe="false" /> <Customer id="21" primary="false" canSelfServe="false" /> </AllCustomers> </Account> <Account id="2" currentPayment="10.00" arrearsAmount="15.00"> <AllCustomers> <Customer id="30" primary="true" canSelfServe="false" /> <Customer id="31" primary="false" canSelfServe="false" /> </AllCustomers> </AllAccounts> </Root> What I want to do is to have two rules: Set /Root/AllAccounts/Account[x]/AllCustomers/Customer[primary='true']/canSelfServe = true IF arrearsAmount < currentPayment Set /Root/AllAccounts/Account[x]/AllCustoemrs/Customer[primary='true']/canSelfServer = false IF arrearsAmount = currentPayment Where [x] is 0...number of /Root/AllAccounts/Account records present in the XML. I've tried two simple rules for this, and each rule seems to fire x * x times, where x is the number of Account records in the XML. I only want each rule to fire once for each Account record. Any help would be greatly appreciated on why it's throwing the exception. -

• Amazon Web services - retrieving a wishlist

  I've been tinkering with Yahoo Pipes and the Amazon E-Commerce Service (ECS) SDK to retrieve my wishlist. The problem is that although I can get all the items on my wishlist just fine, it seems to include items that I've deleted too. Has anyone else used this API and noticed this? Is there a way around it? UPDATE: Requested additional information in comments...   I've been at this for some time and read many sites on the subject. suspect I have junk lying about causing this problem. But where?   Hi there, I am using checkstyle plugin in maven 2. I now want to switch my config file, from the default one to a) an online file, or b) a local file. I tried the following two things, which both didnt work. Any suggestions? • empty response body in ajax (or 206 Partial Content)

  Hi guys, I'm feeling completely stupid because I've spent two hours solving task which should be very simple and which I solved many times before. But now I'm not even sure in which direction to dig. I fail to fetch static content using ajax from local servers (Apache and Mongrel). I get responses 200 and 206 (depending on the server), empty response text (although Content-Length header is always correct), firebug shows request in red. Javascript is very generic, I'm getting same results even here: http://www.w3schools.com/ajax/tryit.asp?filename=tryajax_first (just change document location to 'http://localhost:3000/whatever') So, it's probably not the cause. Well, now I'm out of ideas. I can also post http headers, if it'll help. Thanks!   Hi,for a project I'm working on, I've defined a custom maven packaging, and the associated lifecycle (through the definition of a components.xml and the definition of a LifecycleMapping). Obviously, this packaging corresponds to a specific development, for which a plugin has been created in Eclipse. What I would like to do is configure Eclipse according to my pom.xml content. I've obviously looked at Customizable build lifecycle, but I'm more than confused by provided information. From what I understand, I must define in my target project a build plugin, in which i'll add configuration elements specific to my project. • How to improve Java perfomance on Informix for Windows

  I have problem with performance of Java UDR functions on Informix on Windows. On this server I already have some functions in C and SPL. I chose one function to write it in those 3 languages and I measured performance of this function on test table. Function calculates some kind of checksum so it not use any db libraries etc. only string and math operations. I observed performance on 30k records with SQL like: select function(txt) from _tmp_perf_test and I changed function to 'function_c, function_spl or function_java. My performance tests showed that C function is the fastest, SPL function is about 5 times slower, where Java is 100 (one hundred!) times slower than C. I checked it few times and 1:100 ratio didn't improve. I changed Java function to simply return length of the string but even this do not help so it looks, that there is general problem with Java function invocation, because there was no difference in time between Java function that calculate checksum and Java function that returns length of the string. I increased JVM_MAX_HEAP_SIZE to 128 and it not helped too. I use IBM Informix Dynamic Server Version 11.50.TC6DE. The same test on Linux server: IBM Informix Dynamic Server Version 11.50.FC6 show more "normal" results, i.e. Java is slower from C and SPL but only 2 to 5 times. What can I do to improve Java performance on Informix server on Windows?   I have a chart for which the data is provided asynchronously via a CallResponder (used with a RemoteObject). However, it does not seem possible to update the chart with the data after it has been initially drawn. I have tried: Firing a collection modified event after assigning it to chart.dataProvider calling invalidateDisplayList (tried with all components) binding the chart data provider to a variable, and doing the above. changing the view state on the last line of resultHandler. None of them worked. When I fetch the data and cache it locally, then use it to call init synchronously, the chart displays correctly. What am I missing here?

• Can xjc -version be trusted?

  I've spent the day debugging an issue with JAXB getting namespaces wrong or missing (possibly related to Marshaller.JAXB_FRAGMENT, but that's not the point here). I found the problem occurs with JAXB RI 2.1.10 in my endorsed dir. It is fixed if I use JAXB RI 2.2.4 or 2.2.6 Here is what is really confusing (and what made it take so long). The problem occurs on Linux with: $ java -version java version "1.7.0_03" OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea7 2.1.1pre) (7~u3-2.1.1~pre1-1ubuntu2) OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 22.0-b10, mixed mode) $ xjc -version xjc 2.2.4 but it should work fine, if this java really uses JAXB RI 2.2.4 !! Similarly, I can't reproduce the issue on Windows with Java 1.6.0_27, which reports: C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_27\bin>java -version java version "1.6.0_27" Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_27-b07) Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 20.2-b06, mixed mode) C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_27\bin>xjc -version xjc version "JAXB 2.1.10 in JDK 6" JavaTM Architecture for XML Binding(JAXB) Reference Implementation, (build JAXB 2.1.10 in JDK 6) and yet if I put 2.1.10 RI in my endorsed dir, the problem occurs. It should occur with 1.6.0_27, if that really uses JAXB RI 2.1.10. It seems to me that the problem I'm experiencing has been fixed in the reference implementation somewhere after 2.1.10 and before 2.2.4, but that neither of the 2 VM's above actually use the JAXB version they claim to. Or possibly they use the xjc they claim, but not what is in jaxb-api.jar and jaxb-impl.jar (I know there is a difference in the namespace prefix mapper property, but that won't be causing this problem). I've done these experiments on Win 7 and Ubuntu, in tomcat (no eclipse), and in eclipse (no tomcat), so I'm pretty confident I'm explaining my findings correctly. Can anyone provide any insight into what is happening? If I'm right, does anyone know what versions of JAXB the various Sun/Oracle JDKs really use?

• How to debug jQuery ajax POST to .NET webservice

  Hey all. I have a web service that I have published locally. I wrote an HTML page to test the web service. The webservice is expecting a string that will be XML. When I debug the web service from within VS everything works great. I can use FireBug and see that my web service is indeed being hit by they AJAX call. After deploying the web service locally to IIS it does not appear to be working. I need to know the best way to trouble shoot this problem. My AJAX js looks like this: function postSummaryXml(data) { $.ajax({ type: 'POST', url: 'http://localhost/collection/services/datacollector.asmx/SaveSummaryDisplayData', data: { xml: data }, error: function(result) { alert(result); }, success: function(result) { alert(result); } }); The web method looks like so: [WebMethod] public string SaveSummaryDisplayData(string xml) { XmlDocument xmlDocument = new XmlDocument(); xmlDocument.LoadXml(xml); XmlParser parser = new XmlParser(xmlDocument); IModel repository = new Repository(); if(repository.AddRecord("TestData",parser.TestValues)) { return "true"; } return "false"; } } I added the return string to the web method in an attempt to ensure that the web-service is really hit from the ajax. The problem is this: In FF the 'Success' function is always called yet the result is always 'NULL'. And the web method does not appear to have worked (no data saved). In IE the 'Error' function is called and the response is server error: 500. I think (believe it or not) IE is giving me a more accurate indication that something is wrong but I cannnot determine what the issue is. Can someone please suggest how I should expose the specific server error message? Thanks for the help!
