Can a CWinApp be placed in a DLL?

I'm updating some legacy apps to Visual Studio 10 and am in linker hell. All of these DLLs derive classes from CWinApp and use AfxGetApp() to get access to the object. When I link the DLLs I get unresolved externals that look like global static objects that would get pulled in by a normal app's main(): Shell.lib(SHELL.obj) : error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol "public: static struct CRuntimeClass const CException::classCException" (?classCException@CException@@2UCRuntimeClass@@B) Shell.lib(SHELL.obj) : error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol "public: static struct CRuntimeClass const CFrameWnd::classCFrameWnd" (?classCFrameWnd@CFrameWnd@@2UCRuntimeClass@@B) Shell.lib(SHELL.obj) : error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol "public: static class CRect const CFrameWnd::rectDefault" (?rectDefault@CFrameWnd@@2VCRect@@B) My current combination of ignore default libraries and additional libraries (the method you can easily google to find the answer to linker hell) is: msvcprtd.lib,mfc100d.lib,mfcs100d.lib,libcmtd.lib When I add nafxcwd.lib (the mfc library), these three external symbols resolve but I end up with a bunch of other duplicate symbols (requiring the use of /FORCE:MULTIPLE) and in end __argc and __argv become unresolved. So the basic question is: Can you link a DLL containing a CWinApp in VS10? How do you setup the linker to do it?

starting oracle 10g on ubuntu, Listener failed to start.

Integrating Drools with JBossESB

In recent weeks I've been researching Drools amongst other CEP/Rule Engines and I believe I would like to use Drools. I also have an JBossESB which is responsible for routing of messages between different services. Unless I am totally missing the boat, I can't for the life of me see how I would get data into Drools via JBossESB. Inside of my ESB I have data (facts) that needs to be monitored and routed correctly (some of the data properties also needs to be modified based on other properties in each of the facts, I figured using Drools (a combination of Fusion and Expert) would be the best way to handle this, however, I don't really see in any of the JBoss (or other) documentation how I would get that done. Is this a cart-before-the-horse situation? Am I totally missing the boat somewhere? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, i am implementing a little Black Jack game in C# and i have the following problem calculating the player's hand value. the problem is Ace may have value of 1 or 11 so if the players has three cards and one Ace if the sum of the cards is <= 10 Ace will have value of 11(Sorry for who doesn't know the scope of the game is to reach 21 with the sum of the cards) Other way value of 1 Up to here is easy Now lets assume i do not know how many Aces the player has got and the game is implemented giving the possibility to the dealer to use more than one deck of cards. the user may have in one hand even 5,6,7,8 ... aces. What is the best way(possibly using Linq) to evaluate all the aces the player has got to get the closest combination to 21 (in addition tot he other cards)? I hope i have been clear thanks for your help.

Increment non unique field during SQL insert

I'm not sure how to word this cause I am a little confused at the moment, so bare with me while I attempt to explain, I have a table with the following fields: OrderLineID, OrderID, OrderLine, and a few other unimportant ones. OrderLineID is the primary key and is always unique(which isn't a problem), OrderID is a foreign key that isn't unique(also not a problem), and OrderLine is a value that is not unique in the table, but should be unique for any OrderIDs that are the same...so if that didn't make sense, perhaps a picture OrderLineID, OrderID, OrderLine 1 1 1 2 1 2 3 1 3 4 2 1 5 2 2 For all OrderIDs there is a unique OrderLine. I am trying to create an insert statement that gets the max OrderLine value for a specific OrderId so I can increment it, but it's not working so well and I could use a little help. What I have right now is below, I build the sql statement in a program and replace OrderID # with an actual value. I am pretty sure the problem is with the nested select statement, and incrementing the result, but I can't find any examples that do this since my google skills are weak apparently.... INSERT INTO tblOrderLine (OrderID, OrderLine) VALUES (<OrderID #>, (SELECT MAX(OrderLine) FROM tblOrderLine WHERE orderID = <same OrderID #>)+1) any help would be nice.

.net user control event handler lost on postback

I have a menu usercontrol called LeftMenu that has a bulletedlist of linkitems. It's on the ascx page as such: <asp:BulletedList ID="PublisherList" DisplayMode="LinkButton" OnClick="PublisherList_Click" cssClass="Menu" runat="server"></asp:BulletedList> I databind the list in the page_load under if(!isPostBack) I'm having an issue on a page that loads the control. When the page first loads, the event handler fires. However, when the page posts back it no longer fires and in IE8, when I'm debugging, I get "Microsoft JScript runtime error: Object expected" in Visual Studio pointing at "doPostBack('LeftMenu$PublisherList','0')." In FF I don't get the error, but nothing happens. I'm **not loading the control dynamically, it's loaded on the aspx page using: <%@ Register TagPrefix="Standards" TagName="LeftMenu" Src="LeftMenu.ascx" %> <Standards:LeftMenu ID="LeftMenu" runat="server"/> Any ideas of where I'm losing the event handler? I just realized this is happening on another user control I have as well. A text box and a button and I'm using the default button to make sure pressing the enter key uses that button. .Net converts that in the html to: <div id="SearchBarInclude_SearchBar" onkeypress="javascript:return WebForm_FireDefaultButton(event, 'SearchBarInclude_QuickSearchButton')"> so as soon as i enter a key in the box I get a javascript error at the line saying "object expected." It seems like the two issues are related. Edit Again: I think I need to clarify. It's not that I'm clicking on the menu item and it can't find the selected item on postback. I have this search page with the left navigation on it and then the main content of the page is something that causes a postback. Everything is fine with this postback. Once that page has been posted back, now if I click on the bulleted list in the left navigation I get a javascript error and it fails. The page_init for the LeftMenu control is never called.

Mac OS X: How to change word separator characters?

Depending on your system, the word separator characters change the way you can select/delete a word (e.g. by double clicking on it or using a key combination with your keyboard). The fact is that I hate the default behavior of OSX. For example: Take the following line of code: obj.attr1.innerAttr. If my cursor is at the end of the line and I press alt + backspace, it will delete everything and not just innerAttr. I only found some apps (like iTerm) which let you change the word separator characters. Is there a way to change it for the whole system?

Separating Javascript functions

I am wondering how javascripts get included in a jsp - can we put any code which the jsp will recognize and not just javascript code only in the .js file? I have some common javascript code which needs to get executed on different pages, so I decided to place it in its own separate .js file and include it on all jsps which call that function. The js function now refers to a key from a properties file and some other non-javascript code: function openPrivacyStmntWindow(){ var url = <h:outputText escape="false" value="\"#{urls.url_privacyStatement}\";" /> newwindow=window.open(url,'Terms','height=600,width=800,left=300,top=100,scrollbars=1'); newwindow.focus(); return false; } This function worked just fine when it was included in the jsp itself. Now that I have separated it into its own file it doesnt, do I need to include the properties bundle in this file. The value="\"#{urls.url_privacyStatement}\";" is referring to a bundle called "urls" which has a key called "url_privacyStatement" Also in Line 1 var url = <h:outputText escape="false" value="\"#{urls.url_privacyStatement}\";" /> the <h:outputText escape="false" ... /> will it cause any issues? Why am I getting "(304) Not Modified" error on some links when using HttpWebRequest?

Hi, Any ideas why on some links that I try to access using HttpWebRequest I am getting "The remote server returned an error: (304) Not Modified." in the code? The code I'm using is from Jeff's post here. Note the concept of the code is a simple proxy server, so I'm pointing my browser at this locally running piece of code, which gets my browsers request, and then proxies it on by creating a new HttpWebRequest, as you'll see in the code. It works great for most sites/links, but for some this error comes up. You will see one key bit in the code is where it seems to copy the http header settings from the browser request to it's request out to the site, and it copies in the header attributes. I am new to these tecnologies. I want to get realtime visitor for each products for my site. I mean a notify like "X users seeing this product". Whenever an user connects to a product counter will be increased for this product and when disconnects counter will be decreased just for this product. I tried to search a lots of documents but i got confused. I am using Predis Library for PHP. What i have done may totaly be wrong. I am not sure Where to put createClient , When to subscribe & When to unsubscribe. Guidelines for code-golf on SO We've all seen phone numbers that are put into words: 1-800-BUY-MORE, etc. What is the shortest amount of code you can write that will produce all the possible combinations of words for a 7 digit US phone number. Input will be a seven digit integer (or string, if that is simpler), and assume that the input is properly formed. Output will be a list of seven character strings that For instance, the number 428-5246 would produce GATJAGM GATJAGN GATJAGO GATJAHM GATJAHN GATJAHO and so on..... Winning criteria will be code from any language with the fewest characters that produce every possible letter combination. Additional Notes: To make it more interesting, words can be formed only by using the letters on a North American Classic Key Pad phone with three letters per number as defined here.That means that Z and Q are excluded. For the number '1', put a space. For the number '0', put a hyphen '-' Bonus points awarded for recognizing output as real English words. Okay, not really. ;-)

SMO some times doesn't display the instances in sql2008 cluster

Hi I have used SMO API.in that i have used SmoApplication.EnumAvailableServers(FALSE) and from that i have filtered local instances i have used this approch insted of true to make this as convinent for remote sqldiscovery also.using that api created a dll and use that dll in c++. Now this is working in all combinations but some times it is failed to retrieve the instannces in win2008 sql2008 cluster combination. if i run the exe for 5 times it got succeed for 3 times and failed for two times... What is wromg with win-sql2008 cluster .is there any additional changes needed to make it work properrly.My firewall is off and also added exception for tcp port 1433. Anyy help is greately Appreciated... Thanks in Advance.

When I try to open "Shell.xaml" in the designer it tells me : The "shell.xaml" cannot be loaded at design time because it says it could not create an instance of type "SearchBar.xaml". When I debugged the devenv.exe using another visual studio instance it tells me that it does not have access to the Brush I created in app.resources. If one is doing a Presenter first approach, how does one access resources? I had this working when the startupURI was "Shell.xaml" and the startup event was not present. Any clues/ideas/suggestions. I am just trying to understand. Everything works as expected when I run the application just not @ design time.

I'm developing a site that will display confidential readonly information, with data fetched from a WCF service. My question: What is the best approach to user management across different information pages. The service returns a collection with customer info after a secure login. My idea is to have a Customer object class that is stored in session. Is it possible to use things like HttpContext.Current.User.Identity.IsAuthenticated followed by HttpContext.Current.Session["UserId"] without using a database with role-based security? Would I be better off with a combination of local database, Linq to SQL or datasets rather than using just class objects for data fetched from service? thanks, nakori

I am trying to integrate Hibernate 3 with Spring 3.1.0. The problem is that application is not able to find mapping file which declared in hibernate.cfg.xml file. Initially hibernate configuration has datasource configuration, hibernate properties and mapping hbm.xml files. MySQL - getting SUM of MAX results from 2 tables

Hi, Here's my problem: I have 2 identical tables (past month data, current month data) - data_2010_03, data_2010_04: Content_type (VARCHAR), content_id (INT), month_count (INT), pubDate (DATETIME) Data in month_count is updated hourly, so for each combination of content_type and content_id we insert new row, where value of month_count is incrementally updated. Add Keyboard Binding To Existing Emacs Mode

I'm attempting my first modification of emacs. I recorded a little keyboard macro and had emacs spit it out as elisp, resulting in: (setq add-docstring "\C-rdef\C-n\C-a\C-m\C-p\C-i\C-u6\"\C-u3\C-b") (global-set-key "\C-c\C-d" 'add-docstring) Searching the emacs reference, though, revealed that C-c C-d is already bound in diff mode. I don't plan on using diff mode, but the future is unknowable and I'd like to not lay a trap for myself. So I'd like this keybinding to only operate in python mode, where it tries to help me add docstrings. In my /usr/share/emacs/23.whatever/list/progmodes, I found python.elc and python.el.gz. I unzipped python.el.gz and got a readable version of the elisp file. Now, though, the documentation becomes opaque to me. How can I add my key binding to the python mode, instead of globally? Is it possible, for bonus points, to apply the changes to python mode without restarting emacs or closing open files? It's the self-modifying editor, I figure there's a good chance that it's possible.

DataTable throwing exception on RejectChanges

I found this bug while working with a DataTable. I added a primary key column to a DataTable, than added one row to that table, removed that row, and added row with the same key to the table. This works. When I tried to call RejectChanges() on it, I got ConstraintException saying that value is already present. Here is the example: var dataTable = new DataTable(); var column = new DataColumn("ID", typeof(decimal)); dataTable.Columns.Add(column); dataTable.PrimaryKey = new [] {column }; decimal id = 1; var oldRow = dataTable.NewRow(); oldRow[column] = id; dataTable.Rows.Add(oldRow); dataTable.AcceptChanges(); oldRow.Delete(); var newRow = dataTable.NewRow(); newRow[column] = id; dataTable.Rows.Add(newRow); dataTable.RejectChanges(); // This is where it crashes I think since the row is deleted, exception should not be thrown (constraint is not violated because row is in deleted state). Is there something I can do about this? Any help is appreciated.

I would like to efficiently generate a unique list of combinations of numbers based on a starting list of numbers. example start list = [1,2,3,4,5] but the algorithm should work for [1,2,3...n] result = [1],[2],[3],[4],[5] [1,2],[1,3],[1,4],[1,5] [1,2,3],[1,2,4],[1,2,5] [1,3,4],[1,3,5],[1,4,5] [2,3],[2,4],[2,5] [2,3,4],[2,3,5] [3,4],[3,5] [3,4,5] [4,5] Note. I don't want duplicate combinations, although I could live with them, eg in the above example I don't really need the combination [1,3,2] because it already present as [1,2,3]

Dealing with expired session for a partially filled form?

I have a large webform, and would like to prompt the user to login if their session expires, or have them login when they submit the form. It seems that having them login when they submit the form creates alot of challenges because they get redirected to the login page and then the postback data for the original form submission is lost. So I'm thinking about how to prompt them to login asynchrounsly when the session expires. So that they stay on the original form page, have a panel appear telling them the session has expired and they need to login, it submits the login asynchronously, the login panel disapears, and the user is still on the original partially filled form and can submit it. Is this easily doable using the existing ASP.NET Membership controls? When they submit the form will I need to worry about the session key? I mean, I am wondering if the session key the form submits will be the original one from before the session expired which won't match the new one generated after logging in again asynchrounously(I still do not understand the details of how ASP.NET tracks authentication/session IDs). Edit: Yes I am actually concerned about authentication expiration. The user must be authenticated for the submitted data to be considered valid.

Making change recursively: How do I modify my algorithm to print all combinations?

I have an algorithm that recursively makes change in the following manner: public static int makeChange(int amount, int currentCoin) { //if amount = zero, we are at the bottom of a successful recursion if (amount == 0){ //return 1 to add this successful solution return 1; //check to see if we went too far }else if(amount < 0){ //don't count this try if we went too far return 0; //if we have exhausted our list of coin values }else if(currentCoin < 0){ return 0; }else{ int firstWay = makeChange(amount, currentCoin-1); int secondWay = makeChange(amount - availableCoins[currentCoin], currentCoin); return firstWay + secondWay; } } However, I'd like to add the capability to store or print each combination as they successfully return. I'm having a bit of a hard time wrapping my head around how to do this. The original algorithm was pretty easy, but now I am frustrated. Any suggestions? CB

Search and replace with sed

Last week I accidently externalized all my strings of my eclipse project. I need to revert this and my only hope is sed. I tried to create scripts but failed pathetically because I'm new with sed and this would be a very complicated operation. What I need to do is this: Strings in class.java file is currently in the following format(method) Messages.getString(<key>). Example : if (new File(DataSource.DEFAULT_VS_PATH).exists()) { for (int i = 1; i <= c; i++) { if (!new File(DataSource.DEFAULT_VS_PATH + Messages.getString("VSDataSource.89") + i).exists()) { //$NON-NLS-1$ getnewvfspath = DataSource.DEFAULT_VS_PATH + Messages.getString("VSDataSource.90") + i; //$NON-NLS-1$ break; } } } The key and matching Strings are in messages.properties file in the following format. VSDataSource.92=No of rows in db = VSDataSource.93=Verifying db entry : VSDataSource.94=DB is open VSDataSource.95=DB is closed VSDataSource.96=Invalid db entry for VSDataSource.97=\ removed. So I need the java file back in this format: if (new File(DataSource.DEFAULT_VS_PATH).exists()) { for (int i = 1; i <= c; i++) { if (!new File(DataSource.DEFAULT_VS_PATH + "String 2" + i).exists()) { //$NON-NLS-1$ getnewvfspath = DataSource.DEFAULT_VS_PATH + "String 1" + i; //$NON-NLS-1$ break; } } } How can I accomplish this with sed? Or is there an easier way?
