  • How do I handle editing of custom types in a C# datagridview?

    - by Ian Hopkinson
    I have a datagridview in which one column contains a custom class, which I have set using: dgvPeriods.Columns[1].ValueType = typeof(ExDateTime); It is rigged up to display correctly by handling the CellFormatting event, but I'm unsure what event to handle for cell editing. In the absence of doing anything I get a FormatException as the datagridview tries to convert String to ExDateTime as I try to move focus out of the edited cell. I tried adding type conversion to my ExDateTime custom class: public static implicit operator ExDateTime(string b) { return new ExDateTime(b); } But this this didn't work. I also tried handling the DataError event, but this seems to fire too late. The datagridview is not databound.

  • Extension method return using generics

    - by Steven de Salas
    Is it possible to return a generic type using extension methods? For example, I have the following method: // Convenience method to obtain a field within a row (as a double type) public static double GetDouble(this DataRow row, string field) { if (row != null && row.Table.Columns.Contains(field)) { object value = row[field]; if (value != null && value != DBNull.Value) return Convert.ToDouble(value); } return 0; } This is currently used as follows: double value = row.GetDouble("tangible-equity"); but I would like to use the following code: double value = row.Get<double>("tangible-equity"); Is this possible and if so, what would the method look like?

  • Auto wiring of Property does not work for me

    - by Xabatcha
    Hi All, In my Asp.Net project I wanna use Property Auto-wiring, e.g. for my ILogger. Basically I placed Property into my base classes. One for Page, one for UserControl. Like below. public class UserControlBase : UserControl { public ILogger CLogger { get; set; } .... } However when calling in inherited control, logger is null. I checked the container and it'a definitely set. Below is setting which is called from Global.asax. public static void SetupForIoC() { Debug.WriteLine("SetupForIoC"); ObjectFactory.Initialize(x => { x.FillAllPropertiesOfType<ILogger>().TheDefaultIsConcreteType<EntLibLogger>().AsSingletons(); x.FillAllPropertiesOfType<ISiteService>().TheDefaultIsConcreteType<SiteService>().AsSingletons(); }); Debug.WriteLine(ObjectFactory.WhatDoIHave()); } Thanks for any advice, tip? X.

  • Running a java program in linux terminal with -class path

    - by Arya
    Hello I've been trying for an hour to run the following program with a the postgresql classpath class Test{ public static void main(String[] args){ try { Class.forName("org.postgresql.Driver"); } catch (ClassNotFoundException cnfe) { System.err.println("Couldn't find Postgresql driver class!"); } } } The program compiled fine with the javac command, but I'm having a hard time running it with the postgresql classpath. I have "postgresql-9.0-801.jdbc4.jar" in the same directory as the file and I tried the following, but non of them worked java -classpath ./postgresql-9.0-801.jdbc4.jar Test java -classpath postgresql-9.0-801.jdbc4.jar Test java -classpath "postgresql-9.0-801.jdbc4.jar" Test What am I doing wrong? Regards!

  • C Class Instance from Void Pointer using Ctypes

    - by g.d.d.c
    I've got a C DLL that exposes a handful of methods that return void pointers to a Class like so: void *GetLicense() { static AppLicenseImpl ipds_; return (void *) &ipds_; } In C++, after loading the DLL, I'd do this to work with it: typedef void *(* FPGetLicense)(); GetLicense_ = (FPGetLicense)GetAddress("GetLicense"); license_ = (AppLicense *) GetLicense_(); license_->GetApplicationStatus(); // Load data so that other calls don't fail I can't figure out how to parallel that in Python. This gets me the pointer: d = ctypes.cdll.LoadLibrary('license.dll') d.GetLicense.restype = ctypes.c_void_p p = d.GetLicense() # returns ptr loc, something like 8791433660848L But I obviously can't call p.GetApplicationStatus() in Python. Does anyone have a suggestion on how I'd instantiate that Class the rest of the way in Python so that I can call GetApplicationStatus()?

  • Variable might not have been initialized error

    - by David
    When i try to compile this: public static Rand searchCount (int[] x) { int a ; int b ; ... for (int l= 0; l<x.length; l++) { if (x[l] == 0) a++ ; else if (x[l] == 1) b++ ; } ... } I get these errors: Rand.java:72: variable a might not have been initialized a++ ; ^ Rand.java:74: variable b might not have been initialized b++ ; ^ 2 errors it seems to me that i initialized them at the top of the method. Whats going wrong?

  • How to integrate an open source C program instead of calling its executable through a system call?

    - by ihamer
    I have an executable (fossil scm) that is being invoked by my program externally through ::CreateProcess windows call. The stdout and stderr are then captured. Since the source code for fossil is available, I would prefer to create a static library out of it and issue calls directly. Currently, communication to fossil is done through the command line parameters, and the communication back is through the process return code, stdout and stderr. Fossil writes to stdout/err through printf and fprintf calls. What is the best way to solve this with minimum alteration of fossil source? Is there a reliable and cross-platform way to intercept stdout/err and send it into a memory buffer?

  • Keep TabItems in a TabControl from repositioning?

    - by Kirn
    Hi everyone, In WPF, Is there a simple way to stop TabItems in a TabControl from being repositioned when the selected TabItem changes? So that clicking on a TabItem would simply display its contents, but not reposition the TabItems as it usually does (by moving the selected TabItem to the bottom row of tabs if it wasn't there already). Edit: To clarify, I do want the tabs to be displayed in multiple rows, I just don't want the tab headers to be repositioned when a TabItem from a row other than the bottom row is selected. I'd like the collection of headers to remain completely static, but for the contents of that TabItem to still be displayed when its header is clicked. Thanks!

  • (Visual) C++ project dependency analysis

    - by polyglot
    I have a few large projects I am working on in my new place of work, which have a complicated set of statically linked library dependencies between them. The libs number around 40-50 and it's really hard to determine what the structure was initially meant to be, there isn't clear documentation on the full dependency map. What tools would anyone recommend to extract such data? Presumably, in the simplest manner, if did the following: define the set of paths which correspond to library units set all .cpp/.h files within those to belong to those compilation units capture the 1st order #include dependency tree One would have enough information to compose a map - refactor - and recompose the map, until one has created some order. I note that http://www.ndepend.com have something nice but that's exclusively .NET unfortunately. I read something about Doxygen being able accomplish some static dependency analysis with configuration; has anyone ever pressed it into service to accomplish such a task?

  • isReachable in Java doesn't appear to be working quite the way it's supposed to

    - by Rayne
    I'm using Clojure, but I can read Java, so this isn't a Clojure specific question. This doesn't even seem to be working from Java. I'm trying to implement a bit of a 'ping' function using isReachable. The code I'm using is this: (.isReachable (java.net.InetAddress/getByName "www.microsoft.com") 5000) Translated to Java by a good friend of mine: public class NetTest { public static void main (String[] args) throws Exception{ String host = "acidrayne.net"; InetAddress a = InetAddress.getByName(host); System.out.println(a.isReachable(10000)); } } Both of these return false. I suppose I must be doin' it wrong, but Google research is telling me differently. I'm confuzzled!

  • Compiling Qt for Windows 98

    - by wrp
    I need to support Windows 98. The Qt documentation claims this is possible, but there are no instructions. The distributed binaries don't run on Win98 and the majority of Qt applications I have sampled also don't. For several apps that do run on 98, I have asked authors how they did it, but the common answer is that it was accidental and they don't know what factors caused it. In searching the forums for help, I found only guesses that turned out to be wrong. For example, one belief is that to compile for Win9x, you must build the tools and the apps on that platform. Yet, things I found to run were built on newer versions of Windows. What is required to build the Qt dev tools and then applications for Win98? How about cross-compiling from WinXP or Linux? Are there specific components that can't be made to run on Win98? Are there particular difficulties with dynamic or static linking for Win98 support?

  • ActionScript Accessing Functions/Vars From Outside Of Class

    - by TheDarkIn1978
    how can i call public functions or vars of a sprite class from another class (or frame script)? i keep getting 1061: Call to a possibly undefined method (function i'm trying to call) through a reference with static type flash.display:Sprite. //Framescript var a:Sprite = new customRect(); addChild(a); a.getSide(); //.as file package { import flash.display.Sprite; public class customRect extends Sprite { public var side:Number; private function customRect() { var box:Sprite = new Sprite(); box.graphics.beginFill(); box.graphics.drawRect(0, 0, 200, 200); box.graphics.endFill(); side = box.width; } public function getSide():void { trace(side); } } }

  • passing string literal to std::map::find(..)

    - by ra170
    I've got a std::map. I'm passing string literal to find method. Obviously, I can pass a string literal such as .find("blah"); However, I wanted to declare it upfront, instead of hardcoding the string, so I have couple of choices now: const std::string mystring = "blah"; const char mystring[] = "blah"; static const char * mystring = "blah"; They all work. (or at least compile). My question is, which one should I use? what's the advantage/distavantage over of the other?

  • Guice expert question

    - by Roman
    Hi All I am wondering if someone would be such an expert in guice that he even would know how to implement that : I have an injection annotation (@ConfParam)with some parameters , like that : class TestClass { private final int intValue; @Inject public TestClass(@ConfParam(section = "test1", key = "1") int intValue{ this.intValue = intValue; } public int getIntValue() { return intValue; } } The ConfParam is my custom annotation. Now , when the injection value is requested , I would like guice to create a dynamic binding, to resolve the value. For that binding I will need the parameters inside the annotation. Some example could be , I will have to look in the database in some table where the section is ? and the key is ?. All the trouble is that the data is not available when the injector is created and could be also be added at runtime. Ps. I static solution is easy. ( just have a look at the Names class)

  • How to access Session values from layers beneath the web application layer.

    - by Matthew Vines
    We have many instances in our application where we would like to be able to access things like the currently logged in user id in our business domain and data access layer. On log we push this information to the session, so all of our front end code has access to it fairly easily of course. However, we are having huge issues getting at the data in lower layers of our application. We just can't seem to find a way to store a value in the business domain that has global scope just for the user (static classes and properties are of course shared by the application domain, which means all users in the session share just one copy of the object). We have considered passing in the session to our business classes, but then our domain is very tightly coupled to our web application. We want to keep the prospect of a winforms version of the application possible going forward. I find it hard to believe we are the first people to have this sort of issue. How are you handling this problem in your applications?

  • Java: how to have global values inside a class?

    - by HH
    I want less methods. I want a common global TestClass from which I could use any of its value inside the class. import java.util.*; import java.io.*; public class TestClass { TestClass(String hello){ String hallo = hello; String halloSecond = "Saluto!"; } public static void main(String[] args) { TestClass test = new TestClass("Tjena!"); System.out.println("I want "Tjena!": " + test.hallo); TestClass testSecond = new TestClass("1"); System.out.println("I want Saluto!:" + test.halloSecond); System.out.println("I want Saluto!:" + testSecond.halloSecond); // How can I get glob.vars like the "Saluto!"? } }

  • Extension method question. Why do I need to use someObj = someObj.somemethod();

    - by Kettenbach
    Hi All, I have a simple extension method that I would like to use to add an item to an array of items. public static T[] addElement<T>(this T[] array, T elementToAdd) { var list = new List<T>(array) {elementToAdd}; return list.ToArray(); } this works ok, but when I use it, I am having to set the array equal to the return value. I see that I am returning an Array. I likely want this method to be void, but I would like the item added. Does anyone have any ideas on what I need to do , to make this work the way I am wanting? Instead of someArray = someArray.addElement(item), I just want to do someArray.addElement(item) and then someArray be ready to go. What am I missing here? Thanks, ~ck in San Diego

  • C#: Why only integral enums?

    - by JamesBrownIsDead
    I've been writing C# for seven years now, and I keep wondering, why do enums have to be of an integral type? Wouldn't it be nice to do something like: enum ErrorMessage { NotFound: "Could not find", BadRequest: "Malformed request" } Is this a language design choice, or are there fundamental incompatibilities on a compiler, CLR, or IL level? Do other languages have enums with string or complex (i.e. object) types? What languages? (I'm aware of workarounds; my question is, why are they needed?) EDIT: "workarounds" = attributes or static classes with consts :)

  • Template deduction based on return type?

    - by Marlon
    I'd like to be able to use template deduction to achieve the following: GCPtr<A> ptr1 = GC::Allocate(); GCPtr<B> ptr2 = GC::Allocate(); instead of (what I currently have): GCPtr<A> ptr1 = GC::Allocate<A>(); GCPtr<B> ptr2 = GC::Allocate<B>(); My current Allocate function looks like this: class GC { public: template <typename T> static GCPtr<T> Allocate(); }; Would this be possible to knock off the extra < A and < B? Thanks

  • library interposition with dlsym

    - by ZeeGeek
    I'm writing an interposition library to track the usage of some library functions in libc, such as open(), close(), connect(), etc. It works generally well on most of the applications. However, when I try it with PHP, using PHP's MySQL module in particular, none of the function calls to libc inside this module is been tracked (so no connect(), no socket(), etc.). 'strace' told me that the system calls socket(), connect(), etc., took place. Running 'file' on the module and libmysqlclient.so.16.0.0 said that they are all dynamically linked. So it shouldn't be a problem caused by static linkage. What might be the problem? I'm using Fedora 11 64-bit version. Thank you.

  • Does collections type conversion util methods already exist in any API?

    - by Delta
    interface TypeConverter<T, E> { T convert(E e); } class CollectionUtil() { public static <E> List<T> convertToList(List<E> fromList, TypeConverter<T, E> conv) { { if(fromList== null) return null; List<T> newList = new ArrayList<T>(fromList.size()) for(E e : fromList) { newList.add(conv.convert(e)); } return newList; } } Above code explains converting from List of String to List of Integer by implementing TypeConverter interface for String, Integer. Are there already any collections conversion utility methods exists in any API like list to set and so on?

  • Copy Rows in a One to Many with LINQ (2 SQL)

    - by Refracted Paladin
    I have a table that stores a bunch of diagnosis for a single plan. When the users create a new plan I need to copy over all existing diagnosis's as well. I had thought to try the below but this is obviously not correct. I am guessing that I will need to loop through my oldDiagnosis part, but how? Thanks! My Attempt so far... public static void CopyPlanDiagnosis(int newPlanID, int oldPlanID) { using (var context = McpDataContext.Create()) { var oldDiagnosis = from planDiagnosi in context.tblPlanDiagnosis where planDiagnosi.PlanID == oldPlanID select planDiagnosi; var newDiagnosis = new tblPlanDiagnosi { PlanID = newPlanID, DiagnosisCueID = oldDiagnosis.DiagnosisCueID, DiagnosisOther = oldDiagnosis.DiagnosisOther, AdditionalInfo = oldDiagnosis.AdditionalInfo, rowguid = Guid.NewGuid() }; context.tblPlanDiagnosis.InsertOnSubmit(newDiagnosis); context.SubmitChanges(); } }

  • why primitive type will call first rather than wrapper classes?

    - by kandarp

I just want to know that why it call primitive type method rather than the method who accepts wrapper class as argument? Is there any rule, which java follow to call methods? Thanks,
