    Can I user mono's AOT (Ahead of Time compilation) feature to natively "pre-compile" all or part of some of my own .NET DLLs (and or EXEs) to make them harder to reverse engineer? I'm using Windows (7 / x64 but I have an x86 XP machine as well) and .NET 3.5 (VS 2008) and I'm curious if mono/AOT can be/has been used for this purpose? (Tying them to x86 is acceptable at this point.) See also this question where I tried this and had no luck.

    I use pthreads_attr_getthreadsizes() to get default stack size of one thread, 8MB on my machine. But when I create 8 threads and allocate a very large stack size to them, say hundreds of MB, the program crash. So, I guess, shall ("Number of threads" x "stack size of per thread") shall less than a value(virtual memory size)?

    I recently reinstalled my development machine and went from 32 bit Windows Vista to 64 bit Windows 7. I'm running VS2008. Some of my .NET applications still use J#, which now causes problems. The program still runs, but when I want to deploy it (I'm using a setup project to create a .msi), I get this error: "Visual Studio registry capture utility has encountered a problem" How can I fix this? This error does not occur with other programs (those written purely in C#).

    I want to use HierarchyNode class which is in the Microsoft.VisualStudio.Package namespace and the assembly is MPF.Project.NonShipping.dll. There was no assembly on the .net reference or on the COM. I searched for the file, but it was not on the machine. I also tried to google the dll if we could download it, but there was no link, whatsoever about the download. I am using VS 2008 sp1 by the way. Thanks in advance.

My OS is in swedish. I remember I had similar problem with another GNU program (can't recall which), which was solved by adding the env var "lang" with value "c". I realize that Fedora uses a default 'apache' user for running Apache, and Debian uses a 'www-data' user, but there's no corresponding /users/apache directory on my machine...     I'm just beginning to use Linq-to-SQL and it's just wonderful to use. The problem is, this software is going to be run on a lot of machines and each machine will have a unique connection string. Is there a way for me to manually set the connection the Linq-to-SQL (.dbml) uses? The way I'm doing things now is creating the .dbml file, and in the graphic designer I'm dragging tables from the Server Explorer to the white board of the .dbml.

    I want to encrypt the connection string in web.config, the problem is each time a developer changes the connection string in web.config and publishes, it needs to be encrypted every time in the web server. Is there any way that the connection string can encrypted automatically every time someone publishes it? Note :- All of us work on our local machines other than the server. So encryption using local machine key is not an option.

    Hello all, I am having a look at this example which makes use of activeX - it does extacly what I need from the description but everytime I try to run the example, I get the error: Could not load Drivers. The ActiveX Control could not be started. I have tried this on IE8 on a windows Vista Machine. What is the problem, how can I get those drivers? This is my first time with ActiveX.     Hello, I'd like to import a real Windows Server 2008 server as a Hyper-V Virtual Server on another Windows Server 2008 instance. Anyone have any idea how to do this? I'm looking at the System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2008 but it doesn't seem to import Windows Server 2008 - nor is it free. Is there some other workaround (i.e. import the image into VMWare first, then convert to Hyper-V)? Please help. Regards, Randall
