• How to stop jQuery from returning tabs and spaces from formated code on .html() .val() .text() etc.

  I've got an html table: <table><tr> <td>M1</td> <td>M2</td> <td>M3</td> <td>M4</td> </tr></table> and a simple jQ script: $('td').click(function(){ alert( $(this).html() ); }); That works just fine.... but in the real world, I've got several hundred table cells and the code is formatted improperly in places because of several people editing the page. So if the html is: <td> M1 </td> then the alert() is giving me all the tabs and returns and spaces: What can I do to get ONLY the text without the tabs and spaces? I've tried .html(), .val(), .text() to no avail. Thanks!

  Hi,everybody I`m trying to run a window as modal directly from the code. My program starts and a main NSWindows is showed.A thread still running to see if the user has a valid distribution. if he doesn't I need to run a modal.I mean, I have no buttons clicked in the interface.I've designed a NSWindow on the interface builder for a password set, and I want to call it only when my validation is not successful. • Where can I find an array of the (un)assigned Unicode code points for a particular block?

  At the moment, I'm writing these arrays by hand. For example, the Miscellaneous Mathematical Symbols-A block has an entry in hash like this: my %symbols = ( ... miscellaneous_mathematical_symbols_a => [(0x27C0..0x27CA), 0x27CC, (0x27D0..0x27EF)], ... ) The simpler, 'continuous' array miscellaneous_mathematical_symbols_a => [0x27C0..0x27EF] doesn't work because Unicode blocks have holes in them. For example, there's nothing at 0x27CB. Take a look at the code chart [PDF]. Writing these arrays by hand is tedious, error-prone and a bit fun. And I get the feeling that someone has already tackled this in Perl!

  I'm migrating from C#.NET to Python/Flask. In .NET I have MasterPage, UserControl, PartialView each has its own code behind. e.g. I can save the check login functions in Login.ascx.cs and render the Login.ascx wherever I'd like to. If logged in, it shows the welcome message, else shows the login form. But in Flask I only found {% include 'login.html' %} which include the static html file. How can I implement this design in Flask?

• How can I make external script output link to code in Visual Studio?

  I sometimes need to search code for patterns in a way that goes beyond the regex capabilities of Visual Studio (e.g. patterns that depend on what was seen previously in the file or on the contents of other files). So I use Perl to analyze the source and output matching lines, along with the file name and line number. Since this is the exact same format as is produced by the search feature of Visual Studio, I wonder if there is a way to duplicate the functionality where I can double-click on a line and it will display that line in context in Visual Studio. Any ideas?

• Why is my upload-of-a-file code putting 2 sets of files into my directory? (PHP)

  When I upload a file using this code, it puts a copy of the file in the "uploads" folder(which is what I want) but it also puts a copy in my root. • A strange issue... No code changes getting reflected.

  I am using netbeans to develop an applet, i have a piece of code which looked like this: ipAddresss = DEFAULT_IP; System.out.println("portlet.services.hostname:" + ipAddresss); Now I changed it to something like this: ipAddresss = DEFAULT_IP; System.out.println("portlet.services.hostname using default IP Address:" + ipAddresss); But no matter what I do, it sill keep on printing: portlet.services.hostname:null I have tried deleting all .netbeans folder from documents and settings, tried creating new project, but now i am completely baffled by this issue... So, the problem is, no matter what I do, no change is getting reflected when I run the program. Can there be a java applet cache, netbeans cache, i am not sure why...

  I have to modify some code and the previous developer left this comment: color: color, // e.g. '#RRGGBBFF' - Last 2 digits are alpha information On the page there is a color picker that let's the user change text color. It gives HEX values like so: #RRGGBB And there is a slider that allows the user to change a text's transparency. It runs from 0.1 to 1 Somehow I need to get a 2 digit letter from this transparency amount and append it to the HEX value for it to work. Does anyone know how to append Alpga information to HEX color codes? What is the math formula for it? I guess the question can also be answered if anyone knows how to concert RGBA color values with transparency into HEX: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.6)

  The following simple program snippet gives compilation errorswith gcc-4.3.4. So my question is: Does the Standard allow an new [] to be called without specifying the size? Or this a bug in MSVC? Can someone provide a reference from the standard which will conclusively say that the above code example is ill-formed or well-formed? I have had a look at: 5.3.4 New [expr.new] & 18.4.1.2 Array forms [lib.new.delete.array] but couldnt find any conclusive evidence about the behavior.

• if else-if making code look ugly any cleaner solution?

  I have around 20 functions (is_func1, is_fucn2, is_func3...) returning boolean I assume there is only one function which returns true and I want that! I am doing: if is_func1(param1, param2): # I pass 1 to following abc(1) # I pass 1 some_list.append(1) elif is_func2(param1, param2): # I pass 2 to following abc(2) # I pass 1 some_list.append(2) ... . . elif is_func20(param1, param2): ... Please note: param1 and param2 are different for each, abc and some_list take parameters depending on the function. The code looks big and there is repetition in calling abc and some_list, I can pull this login in a function! but is there any other cleaner solution? I can think of putting functions in a data structure and loop to call them.

  I have the following bash code, which is copied and pasted from "bash cookbook" (1st edition): #!/bin/bash VERBOSE=0; if [[ $1 =-v ]] then VERBOSE=1; shift; fi When I run this (bash 4.0.33), I get the following syntax error: ./test.sh: line 4: conditional binary operator expected ./test.sh: line 4: syntax error near `=-v' ./test.sh: line 4: `if [[ $1 =-v ]]' Is this as simple as a misprint in the bash cookbook, or is there a version incompatibility or something else here? What would the most obvious fix be? I've tried various combinations of changing the operator, but I'm not really familiar with bash scripting.

• Code compiles etc. but just hangs on run.

  Hey guys, My program is meant to parse through a text file, extract relevant data and then save it in a SQL table. I compile it like so.. gcc -o parse parse.c -I/usr/include/mysql -L/usr/lib/mysql -lmysqlclient_r then I run it like so... ./parse > tweets.rss But it just hangs. it doesn't print any printf's I put in to debug. • Should we develop code on a local machine in a VLAN?

  Because of security reasons, we will not be able to use IIS on our local machines. I'm sure that many of you have faced the same problem, so how did you solve it? Here are the options that we're looking at: Create a VLAN that is isolated from the network for development. This will allow us to use any software, including IIS, that we want. A disadvantage is testing Web services with external organizations, which can be overcome by using stubs. Not use a VLAN and use only the ASP.NET Development Server that comes with Visual Studio, and then deploying that code to the development server. This has the disadvantage of not being able to replicate the production environment during local development. In addition, at least one developer needs IIS for GIS development, so he couldn't develop locally. Thank you for comments or suggestions that you may have!

  have an excel based CSV file with two columns (or rows, Pythonically) that I am working on. What I need to do is to perform some operations so that I can compare the two data entries in each 'row'. To be more precise, one column has constant numbers all the way down, whereas the other column has varying values. So I need to count the number of times the varying column data entry values crosses the constant value on the other column. For example, fro the csv file i have two columns: Varying Column; Constant Column 24 25 26 25 crossed 27 25 26 25 25.5 25 23 25 crossed 26 25 crossed Thus, the varying column data entries have crossed 25 three times. I need to generate a code that can count the number of the crosses. Please do help out, Thanks.

• Getting service unavailable message when sending messages to google xmpp using wokkel

  Hi, I made a wokkel (twisted python) bot to send and receive messages from the google xmpp service. Everything (auth, presence) etc works fine. One of the rquirements of our prject is that we need to send broadcast messages to everyone in the list. Normal messages and replies work fin, but when i snd a broadcast message, i get this service unavailable error 503 message. There are about 1000 user in my contact list. Is this some bug in the code or is it google policy to prevent rapid messaging. Also, how do other google bots cater to a large contact base ? does google provide a commercial solution for such applications ? Thanks

• One code on dev server, and production server - how to deal with links?

  I have a copy of a code running ont he prod server, and I sue my local machine(s) running xampp as a dev server. I have several websites that I actively develop, so Im forced to use http://localhost/sitename All my URLs are relative to the domain, (/file.php). They work fine on the prod server, but on a local server, they all point to localhost, when I want to make them all work relative to the site folder they are in. Is there anything I could do, other than what I do now, which is this: if($_SERVER['SERVER_NAME'] == "localhost") { $path_to = "http://" . $_SERVER['SERVER_NAME'] .   Hi - I've been using Log4Perl extensively in a number of scripts. I'd like to augment those scripts to set an error code if any WARN or ERROR messages have been logged. I couldn't find any obvious way to do this based on existing documentation. I'd like to avoid a brute-force rewrite of my existing scripts to add a check on every WARN or ERROR log message; I'd prefer to handle it prior to script exit if possible like this pseudocode: if $log->has_warnings_or_errors then exit 1 else exit 0 Is there any easy way to call Log4Perl to determine if the current logger has issues messages of certain levels?
