• Return node level of hierarchical xml

    - by Ryan
    In a treeview you can retrieve the level of an item. I am trying to accomplish the same thing with the given input being an object. The XML data I will use for this example would be something like the following <Testing> <Numbers> <Number val="1"> <Number val="1.1"> <Number val="1.1.1"> <Number val="1.1.2" /> <Number val="1.1.3" /> <Number val="1.1.4" /> </Number> </Number> <Number val="1.2" /> <Number val="1.3" /> <Number val="1.4" /> </Number> <Number val="2" /> <Number val="3" /> <Number val="4" /> </Numbers> <Numbers> <Number val="5" /> <Number val="6" /> <Number val="7" /> <Number val="8" /> </Numbers> </Testing> This one is kicking my butt!

  • Will low level programms become obsolete once the "post-performance" world arives? [closed]

    - by nbv4
With the new iPhone 5 being as powerful as the supercomputers of the 1980s, its only a matter of time when the latest phones will be powerful enough to run a twitter-scale web application from within my pocket. When that time comes, performance will no longer be something programmers need to care about. Will low level languages still have a place? Or will everyone move to dynamic languages like Python?

  • Need help manipulating WAV (RIFF) Files at a byte level

    - by Eric
I'm writing an an application in C# that will record audio files (*.wav) and automatically tag and name them. Wave files are RIFF files (like AVI) which can contain meta data chunks in addition to the waveform data chunks. So now I'm trying to figure out how to read and write the RIFF meta data to and from recorded wave files. I'm using NAudio for recording the files, and asked on their forums as well on SO for way to read and write RIFF tags. While I received a number of good answers, none of the solutions allowed for reading and writing RIFF chunks as easily as I would like. But more importantly I have very little experience dealing with files at a byte level, and think this could be a good opportunity to learn. So now I want to try writing my own class(es) that can read in a RIFF file and allow meta data to be read, and written from the file. I've used streams in C#, but always with the entire stream at once. So now I'm little lost that I have to consider a file byte by byte. Specifically how would I go about removing or inserting bytes to and from the middle of a file? I've tried reading a file through a FileStream into a byte array (byte[]) as shown in the code below. System.IO.FileStream waveFileStream = System.IO.File.OpenRead(@"C:\sound.wav"); byte[] waveBytes = new byte[waveFileStream.Length]; waveFileStream.Read(waveBytes, 0, waveBytes.Length); And I could see through the Visual Studio debugger that the first four byte are the RIFF header of the file. But arrays are a pain to deal with when performing actions that change their size like inserting or removing values. So I was thinking I could then to the byte[] into a List like this. List<byte> list = waveBytes.ToList<byte>(); Which would make any manipulation of the file byte by byte a whole lot easier, but I'm worried I might be missing something like a class in the System.IO name-space that would make all this even easier. Am I on the right track, or is there a better way to do this? I should also mention that I'm not hugely concerned with performance, and would prefer not to deal with pointers or unsafe code blocks like this guy. If it helps at all here is a good article on the RIFF/WAV file format.

  • How to return a property name when comparing two properties at class-level

    - by CodeMonkey
Hi I have implemented an 'EqualTo' Validation Attribute, that compares two Properties of an object, during ModelBinding in ASP.NET MVC 2. The problem I have is not with it not working, because it does work. The problem is, when I do my request - which is an ajax request - I get back errors to my front-end, where it sets a class on the input fields to indicate invalid input. What it does is iterate through a list of Errors (in a JsonResult), and set a class. This is all dandy. But the ValidationAtrribute I am having trouble with is set at a Class-level, i.e., it's not like other ValidationAttributes where you set something like "[Required]" or something like that. [AttributeUsage(AttributeTargets.Class, AllowMultiple=true, Inherited=false)] public class EqualToAttribute : ValidationAttribute { public String SourceProperty { get; set; } public String MatchProperty { get; set; } public EqualToAttribute(string source, string match) { SourceProperty = source; MatchProperty = match; } public override Boolean IsValid(Object value) { Type objectType = value.GetType(); PropertyInfo[] properties = objectType.GetProperties(); object sourceValue = new object(); object matchValue = new object(); Type sourceType = null; Type matchType = null; int counter = 0; foreach (PropertyInfo propertyInfo in properties) { if (propertyInfo.Name == SourceProperty || propertyInfo.Name == MatchProperty) { if (counter == 0) { sourceValue = propertyInfo.GetValue(value, null); sourceType = propertyInfo.GetValue(value, null).GetType(); } if (counter == 1) { matchValue = propertyInfo.GetValue(value, null); matchType = propertyInfo.GetValue(value, null).GetType(); } counter++; if (counter == 2) { break; } } } if (sourceType != null && matchType != null) { return sourceValue.ToString().Equals(matchValue.ToString()); //return Convert.ChangeType(sourceValue, sourceType) == Convert.ChangeType(matchValue, matchType); } return false; } private object _typeId = new object(); public override object TypeId { get { return this._typeId; } } } Now this code works, except for the fact that the validation process does not return which Property failed. And I simply can't figure out how to make it return one of the two. In reality I don't care which one it returns.. because both are failing.. Do you have an idea how to make it return the/or both Property/Properties that is/are failing.

  • Getting level values from PCM raw data using Core Audio

    - by John
I am trying to extract level data from a PCM audio file using core audio. I have gotten as far as (I believe) getting the raw data into a byte array (UInt8) but it is 16 bit PCM data and I am having trouble reading the data out. The input is from the iPhone microphone, which I have set as: [recordSetting setValue:[NSNumber numberWithInt:kAudioFormatLinearPCM] forKey:AVFormatIDKey]; [recordSetting setValue:[NSNumber numberWithFloat:44100.0] forKey:AVSampleRateKey]; [recordSetting setValue:[NSNumber numberWithInt:1] forKey:AVNumberOfChannelsKey]; [recordSetting setValue:[NSNumber numberWithInt:16] forKey:AVLinearPCMBitDepthKey]; [recordSetting setValue:[NSNumber numberWithBool:NO] forKey:AVLinearPCMIsBigEndianKey]; [recordSetting setValue:[NSNumber numberWithBool:NO] forKey:AVLinearPCMIsFloatKey]; which is obviously 16 bits. I am then trying to just print out a few values to see if they look reasonable for debug purposes below, and they do not look reasonable (many 0's). ExtAudioFileRef inputFile = NULL; ExtAudioFileOpenURL(track.location, &inputFile); AudioStreamBasicDescription inputFileFormat; UInt32 dataSize = (UInt32)sizeof(inputFileFormat); ExtAudioFileGetProperty(inputFile, kExtAudioFileProperty_FileDataFormat, &dataSize, &inputFileFormat); UInt8 *buffer = malloc(BUFFER_SIZE); AudioBufferList bufferList; bufferList.mNumberBuffers = 1; bufferList.mBuffers[0].mNumberChannels = 1; bufferList.mBuffers[0].mData = buffer; //pointer to buffer of audio data bufferList.mBuffers[0].mDataByteSize = BUFFER_SIZE; //number of bytes in the buffer while(true) { UInt32 frameCount = (bufferList.mBuffers[0].mDataByteSize / inputFileFormat.mBytesPerFrame); // Read a chunk of input OSStatus status = ExtAudioFileRead(inputFile, &frameCount, &bufferList); // If no frames were returned, conversion is finished if(0 == frameCount) break; NSLog(@"---"); int16_t *bufferl = &buffer; for(int i=0;i<100;i++){ //const int16_t *bufferl = bufferl[i]; NSLog(@"%d",bufferl[i]); } } Not sure what I am doing wrong, I think it has to do with reading the byte array. Sorry for the long code post...

  • Cannot use READPAST in snapshot isolation mode

    - by Marcus
I have a process which is called from multiple threads which does the following: Start transaction Select unit of work from work table with by finding the next row where IsProcessed=0 with hints (UPDLOCK, HOLDLOCK, READPAST) Process the unit of work (C# and SQL stored procedures) Commit the transaction The idea of this is that a thread dips into the pool for the "next" piece of work, and processes it, and the locks are there to ensure that a single piece of work is not processed twice. (the order doesn't matter). All this has been working fine for months. Until today that is, when I happened to realise that despite enabling snapshot isolation and making it the default at the database level, the actual transaction creation code was manually setting an isolation level of "ReadCommitted". I duly changed that to "Snapshot", and of course immediately received the "You can only specify the READPAST lock in the READ COMMITTED or REPEATABLE READ" error message. Oops! The main reason for locking the row was to "mark the row" in such a way that the "mark" would be removed when the transaction that applied the mark was committed and the lock seemed to be the best way to do this, since this table isn't read otherwise except by these threads. If I were to use the IsProcessed flag as the lock, then presumably I would need to do the update first, and then select the row I just updated, but I would need to employ the NOLOCK flag to know whether any other thread had set the flag on a row. All sounds a bit messy. The easiest option would be to abandon the snapshot isolation mode altogether, but the design of step #3 requires it. Any bright ideas on the best way to resolve this problem? Thanks Marcus

  • Cisco WebVPN RDP Plugin and NLA

    - by bab
I'm having trouble finding anything in Cisco's docs or with Google searches, so I'm hoping someone out in ServerFault land might know. We've recently enabled NLA domain-wide to protect against some of the recent RDP vulnerabilities. However, we can no longer use the Cisco WebVPN on our ASA to connect to these boxes (Connection Failure). I assume this is because the RDP2 plugin (as of Apr 27 2012) doesn't support NLA? Is there another version of the plugin that does? Thanks!

  • Marking multi-level nested forms as "dirty" in Rails

    - by Charles Kihe
I have a three-level multi-nested form in Rails. The setup is like this: Projects have many Milestones, and Milestones have many Notes. The goal is to have everything editable within the page with JavaScript, where we can add multiple new Milestones to a Project within the page, and add new Notes to new and existing Milestones. Everything works as expected, except that when I add new notes to an existing Milestone (new Milestones work fine when adding notes to them), the new notes won't save unless I edit any of the fields that actually belong to the Milestone to mark the form "dirty"/edited. Is there a way to flag the Milestone so that the new Notes that have been added will save? Edit: sorry, it's hard to paste in all of the code because there's so many parts, but here goes: Models class Project < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :notes, :dependent => :destroy has_many :milestones, :dependent => :destroy accepts_nested_attributes_for :milestones, :allow_destroy => true accepts_nested_attributes_for :notes, :allow_destroy => true, :reject_if => proc { |attributes| attributes['content'].blank? } end class Milestone < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :project has_many :notes, :dependent => :destroy accepts_nested_attributes_for :notes, :allow_destroy => true, :allow_destroy => true, :reject_if => proc { |attributes| attributes['content'].blank? } end class Note < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :milestone belongs_to :project scope :newest, lambda { |*args| order('created_at DESC').limit(*args.first || 3) } end I'm using an jQuery-based, unobtrusive version of Ryan Bates' combo helper/JS code to get this done. Application Helper def add_fields_for_association(f, association, partial) new_object = f.object.class.reflect_on_association(association).klass.new fields = f.fields_for(association, new_object, :child_index => "new_#{association}") do |builder| render(partial, :f => builder) end end I render the form for the association in a hidden div, and then use the following JavaScript to find it and add it as needed. JavaScript function addFields(link, association, content, func) { var newID = new Date().getTime(); var regexp = new RegExp("new_" + association, "g"); var form = content.replace(regexp, newID); var link = $(link).parent().next().before(form).prev(); if (func) { func.call(); } return link; } I'm guessing the only other relevant piece of code that I can think of would be the create method in the NotesController: def create respond_with(@note = @owner.notes.create(params[:note])) do |format| format.js { render :json => @owner.notes.newest(3).all.to_json } format.html { redirect_to((@milestone ? [@project, @milestone, @note] : [@project, @note]), :notice => 'Note was successfully created.') } end end The @owner ivar is created in the following before filter: def load_milestone @milestone = @project.milestones.find(params[:milestone_id]) if params[:milestone_id] end def determine_owner @owner = load_milestone @owner ||= @project end Thing is, all this seems to work fine, except when I'm adding new notes to existing milestones. The milestone has to be "touched" in order for new notes to save, or else Rails won't pay attention.

  • Flatten XML using XSLT but based on nesting level

    - by user2532750
I'm new to XSLT and I'm trying to write some XSLT that will flatten any given XML such that a new line occurs whenever the nesting level changes. My input can be any XML document, with any number of nested levels so the structure isn't known to the XSLT. Due to the tools available to me, my solution has to use XSLT version 1.0. For example. <ROWSET> <ROW> <CUSTOMER_ID>0</CUSTOMER_ID>
<BONUSES> <BONUSES_ROW> <BONUS_ID>21</BONUS_ID>
Performance Bonus
</BONUSES_ROW> <BONUSES_ROW> <BONUS_ID>26</BONUS_ID>
Special Bonus
</BONUSES_ROW> </BONUSES> </ROW> <ROW> <CUSTOMER_ID>1</CUSTOMER_ID>
<BONUSES> <BONUSES_ROW> <BONUS_ID>27</BONUS_ID>
June Bonus
<BONUS_VALUES> <BONUS_VALUES_ROW> <VALUE>10</VALUE> <PERCENT>N</PERCENT> </BONUS_VALUES_ROW> <BONUS_VALUES_ROW> <VALUE>11</VALUE> <PERCENT>Y</PERCENT> </BONUS_VALUES_ROW> </BONUS_VALUES> </BONUSES_ROW> </BONUSES> </ROW> <ROWSET> needs to becomes.... 0, Default Company 21, Performance Bonus 26, Special Bonus 1, Dealer 1 27, June Bonus 10, N 11, Y The XSLT I've written so far is... <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform"> <xsl:output method="text" encoding="iso-8859-1"/> <xsl:strip-space elements="*" /> <xsl:template match="/*/child::*"> <xsl:apply-templates select="*"/> </xsl:template> <xsl:template match="*"> <xsl:value-of select="text()" /> <xsl:if test="position()!= last()"><xsl:text>,</xsl:text></xsl:if> <xsl:if test="position()= last()"><xsl:text></xsl:text></xsl:if> <xsl:apply-templates select="./child::*"/> </xsl:template> </xsl:stylesheet> but my output just isn't correct, with gaps and unnecessary data. 0,Default Company, ,21,Performance Bonus 26,Special Bonus 1,Dealer 1, 27,June Bonus, ,10,N 11,Y It seems there needs to be a check as whether or not a node can contain text, but I'm stuck and could do with an XSLT expert's help.

  • JSON Paring - How to show second Level ListView

    - by Sophie
I am parsing JSON data into ListView, and successfully parsed first level of JSON in MainActivity.java, where i am showing list of Main Locations, like: Inner Locations Outer Locations Now i want whenever i do tap on Inner Locations then in SecondActivity it should show Delhi and NCR in a List, same goes for Outer Locations as well, in this case whenever user do tap need to show USA JSON look like: { "all": [ { "title": "Inner Locations", "maps": [ { "title": "Delhi", "markers": [ { "name": "Connaught Place", "latitude": 28.632777800000000000, "longitude": 77.219722199999980000 }, { "name": "Lajpat Nagar", "latitude": 28.565617900000000000, "longitude": 77.243389100000060000 } ] }, { "title": "NCR", "markers": [ { "name": "Gurgaon", "latitude": 28.440658300000000000, "longitude": 76.987347699999990000 }, { "name": "Noida", "latitude": 28.570000000000000000, "longitude": 77.319999999999940000 } ] } ] }, { "title": "Outer Locations", "maps": [ { "title": "United States", "markers": [ { "name": "Virgin Islands", "latitude": 18.335765000000000000, "longitude": -64.896335000000020000 }, { "name": "Vegas", "latitude": 36.114646000000000000, "longitude": -115.172816000000010000 } ] } ] } ] } Note: But whenever i do tap on any of the ListItem in first activity, not getting any list in SecondActivity, why ? • CSS: Centering a floated block level element in IE6 (It almost works)

    - by Louis W
I have a block level element which I am centering on the page. I have gotten it to work for all other browsers except IE6 where it ALMOST works. http://tinyurl.com/28sh9eq If I view the page in IE6 the red box is slightly off center of the pink one in IE. If I then resize the browser window it snaps into place where I want it. Uhhhhh.... yea.... what gives? How come resizing the window makes it work? I have also tried setting an explicit width on the wrapper with no avail.

RTL: Button 1

   » Hello 1.

RTL: Button 1-2

   » Hello 1.

Normal: Button 1

   » Hello.

Thanks for your help.

  • New PeopleSoft HCM 9.1 On Demand Standard Edition provides a complete set of IT services at a low, predictable monthly cost

At Oracle Open World last month, Oracle announced that we are extending our On Demand offerings with the general availability of PeopleSoft On Demand Standard Edition. Standard Edition represents Oracle’s commitment to providing customers a choice of solutions, technology, and deployment options commensurate with their business needs and future growth. The Standard Edition offering complements the traditional On Demand offerings (Enterprise and Professional Editions) by focusing on a low, predictable monthly cost model that scales with the size of your business. As part of Oracle's open cloud strategy, customers can freely move PeopleSoft licensed applications between on premise and the various on demand options as business needs arise. In today’s business climate, aggressive and creative business objectives demand more of IT organizations. They are expected to provide technology-based solutions to streamline business processes, enable online collaboration and multi-tasking, facilitate data mining and storage, and enhance worker productivity. As IT budgets remain tight in a recovering economy, the challenge becomes how to meet these demands with limited time and resources. One way is to eliminate the variable costs of projects so that your team can focus on the high priority functions and better predict funding and resource needs two to three years out. Variable costs and changing priorities can derail the best laid project and capacity plans. The prime culprits of variable costs in any IT organization include disaster recovery, security breaches, technical support, and changes in business growth and priorities. Customers have an immediate need for solutions that are cheaper, predictable in cost, and flexible enough for long-term growth or capacity changes. The Standard Edition deployment option fulfills that need by allowing customers to take full advantage of the rich business functionality that is inherent to PeopleSoft HCM, while delegating all application management responsibility – such as future upgrades and product updates – to Oracle technology experts, at an affordable and expected price. Standard Edition provides the advantages of the secure Oracle On Demand hosted environment, the complete set of PeopleSoft HCM configurable business processes, and timely management of regular updates and enhancements to the application functionality and underlying technology. Standard Edition has a convenient monthly fee that is scalable by number of employees, which helps align the customer’s overall cost of ownership with its size and anticipated growth and business needs. In addition to providing PeopleSoft HCM applications' world class business functionality and Oracle On Demand's embassy-grade security, Oracle’s hosted solution distinguishes itself from competitors by offering customers the ability to transition between different deployment and service models at any point in the application ownership lifecycle. As our customers’ business and economic climates change, they are free to transition their applications back to on-premise at any time. HCM On Demand Standard Edition is based on configurability options rather than customizations, requiring no additional code to develop or maintain. This keeps the cost of ownership low and time to production less than a month on average. Oracle On Demand offers the highest standard of security and performance by leveraging a state-of-the-art data center with dedicated databases, servers, and secured URL all within a private cloud. Customers will not share databases, environments, platforms, or access portals with other customers because we value how mission critical your data are to your business. Oracle’s On Demand also provides a full breadth of disaster recovery services to provide customers the peace of mind that their data are secure and that backup operations are in place to keep their businesses up and running in the case of an emergency. Currently we have over 50 PeopleSoft customers delegating us with the management of their applications through Oracle On Demand. If you are a customer interested in learning more about the PeopleSoft HCM 9.1 Standard Edition and how it can help your organization minimize your variable IT costs and free up your resources to work on other business initiatives, contact Oracle or your Account Services Representative today.

  • INSERT and transaction serialization in PostreSQL

    - by Alexander
I have a question. Transaction isolation level is set to serializable. When the one user opens a transaction and INSERTs or UPDATEs data in "table1" and then another user opens a transaction and tries to INSERT data to the same table, does the second user need to wait 'til the first user commits the transaction?

    - by Pedro
I am using CodeProject's well known Open Session in View to handle NHibernate Sessions. Does it works well with Level 2 Cache? Anyone has succeeded doing it? Should I use NH.Burrow instead? Any advice on l2 cache in asp.net best practices is appreciated. Edit: link to CodeProject's article: http://www.codeproject.com/KB/architecture/NHibernateBestPractices.aspx

Given example from Hibernate docs and modifying it so that root level entity (Customer) is read-only while one of its collections (tickets) is read-write: @Entity @Cache(usage = CacheConcurrencyStrategy.READ_ONLY) public class Customer { ... @OneToMany(...) @Cache(usage = CacheConcurrencyStrategy.READ_WRITE) public SortedSet<Ticket> getTickets() { return tickets; } ... } Would collection of tickets get refreshed when accessing customer from cache?

  • Access to iTunes Sound Check Results on iPhone

    - by Baldoph
I would like to propose to the user some songs whose volume doesn't exceed a certain level. Is there any way to access to the results of the 'Sound Check' option, from the iPhone ? If not, do you know if I can calculate that with the audio tools in the iPhone SDK ? Thanks a lot.
