• Is there a Chrome extension to add mailto links to email addresses?

  Wait, wait, this is a programming question! I want to build an extension if none exists. Imagine this: you come across a webpage that says "Just send a message to [email protected]" but to actually send the email, you need to highlight the address and then cut and paste it into the recipient field of a new compose window of your email client of choice. Obviously life would be easier if it were simply a mailto: link, so you could click on it and have a new message created automatically. (Or if the page designer had used a form, perhaps ...) I was originally going to ask if there was an extension to enable similar functionality for unlinked twitter @username mentions but I thought this email address problem would be a simpler situation. If you think it would be useless, perhaps I should look at the twitter username problem instead. Thanks for your feedback.

• php database session handling problem in IE8!

  I've got an html page from where Im making this call periodically: function logon(id) { $.get("data.php", { action: 'online', userID: id}, function(data){ $("#msg").html(data); }); } What this does is it calls this SQL script in data.php: $sql = "update user_sessions set expires=(expires + 2) where userID = $userID"; mysql_query($sql, $conn) or die(mysql_error()); echo $sql; I can see by the echo that the sql syntax and values are correct, but THE CHANGES TO THE expires FIELD ARE NOT DONE, ONLY IN IE8!! It works fine in other ff, safari, chrome, ie6 and 7. There is nothing browser specific about making this sql call, but the user_sessions table is used to store PHP's sessions. Im only increasing the session expiry time when the call is made. What in IE8's session handling is preventing the session time from changing? Is there any caching or cookie problem that needs to be changed?

• Find strong name signature without calling LoadAssembly

  When reading a Windows PE file directly, I can't seem to find the strong name of a delay signed assembly. I can get to the CLR Header and read all the CLR header entries including the flags and the StrongNameSignature field. Unfortunately in a delay signed assembly the StrongNameSignature is zeroed out. Is the information in the MetaData directory specified within the CLR header? If so does anyone have an example of how to read this table? I am not interested in calling SN.exe or loading the assembly.

• How to handle updating JDO class definitions on Google App Engine

  I'm using the Google app engine and JDO. What is the best way to update a JDO class definition without having to wipe the data store contents first? I'm not sure if this is specific to JDO on GAE, but I noticed that when I simply change the name of one of my persistent fields from svotes to votes, an exception is thrown (java.lang.NoSuchFieldError: svotes). I expect once my site goes live I might want to make some changes to my JDO class definitions, such as adding a field or something. Any suggestions for how to update the data definitions without having to wipe the database?

  I am sanitizing an input field and manually getting and setting the caret position in the process. With some abstraction, here's the basic idea: <input type="text" onkeyup"check(this)"> And javascript... function check(element) { var charPosition = getCaretPosition(element); $(element).val( sanitize( $(element).val() ) ); setCaretPosition(element, charPosition); } function sanitize(s) { return s.replace(/[^a-zA-Z0-9\s]/g, ''); } This is working fine except when a character does actually get sanitized, my caret position is off by one. Basically I'd like a way to see if the sanitize function has actually replaced a character (and at what index) so then I can adjust the charPosition if necessary. Any ideas?

  we are building a NAT program,we change each packet that comes from our internal subnet, change it's source IP address by libnet functions.( catch the packet with libpcap, put it sniff structures and build the new packet with libnet) over TCP, the syn/ack packets are good after the change, and when a HTTP-GET request is coming, we can see by wireshark that there is an error on the checksum field.. all the other fields are exactly the same as the original packet. Is anyone knows what can cause this problem? the new checksum in other packets is calculated as it should be.. but in the HTTP packet it doesn't..

I have figured out how to use UTF-8 for the body, subject line, and generic headers, but I am still stuck on the recipients. Here's what I'd like in the "To:" field: "????????????" <[email protected]>.   i have these tables /entities VacationRequestDate table which has a VacationRequestId field that links with VacationRequest table VacationRequest has PersonId and RequestStatusId fields that links with Person and RequestStatus respectively. i have this query so far: IEnumerable<VacationRequestDate> dates = Session.Query<VacationRequestDate>().Fetch(r => r.VacationRequest).ThenFetch(p=>p.RequestStatus).ToList(); this works fine and joins with VacationRequest and then VacationRequest joins with RequestStatus but i can't figure out how to add an additional EAGER join to the VacationRequest table. If i add a Fetch at the end, it refers to the VacationRequestDate table If i add a ThenFetch at the end, it refers to the RequestStatus table I can't find any api that will refer to the VacationRequest table as the reference point. how would you add multiple joins to a joined table using nhibernate LINQ ?

• Entity Framework: Setting EntityReference EntityKey causes exception on save

  I have a table with a ModifiedUserID field that is a foreign key to a User table. In entity framework, I'm loading the first table, but not the users table. I have the user ID of the current user, and would like to set the ModifiedUserID to that value for all entities that have been modified prior to saving. Before calling SaveChanges(), I use the ObjectStateManager to get all modified entities. Since I do not have the user object, but I do have the user ID, I set the EntityReference.EntityKey property as follows: entity.UserReference.EntityKey = New EntityKey("MyContainer.User", "UserID", DatabaseUserID) This works fine, but when I execute SaveChanges(), I receive the following error: A relationship is being added or deleted from an AssociationSet 'FK_Table1_User'. With cardinality constraints, a corresponding 'Table1' must also be added or deleted. Now, I see that setting the EntityReference.EntityKey creates a new AssociationSet entry, but how to I prevent this error?

  In C# I need to compare the value of DateTime.Today /6pm, to a field that stores the Created DateTime. Basically there is certain functionality that is only accessible on the same day as the created day and then only till 6pm. The part I am not fully understanding is how to accurately represent 6pm on Today to compare against. Is there a method that always returns, say, Midnight that I can then do a .AddHours(18); to? Am I over-complicating this? Thanks.

• Retrieving Spotlight query used to open document in application

  If you search for something that opens Preview.app (e.g. a PDF file) in Spotlight, the application not only opens the file but actually copies the Spotlight query into the application's search field (for deeper search). iPhoto and Mail.app also do this. This is a really nice feature. Unfortunately, Apple does not document how it's implemented. Opening a document from Spotlight appears to simply send application:openFile to the application delegate. Is it possible to retrieve the user's Spotlight query somehow? Or is this a hardcoded feature of Spotlight?

• Breaking the SQL Compact 8K Limit?

  I am creating a desktop application that stores rich text documents to a SQL Compact database. Documents are converted to a byte array and stored as a Binary column, and I am running into SQL Compact's 8K limit for Binary field length. Is there a simple way to get around the 8K limit? I can come up with lots of complicated ways to do it, such as parsing into 8K chunks for storage and reassembling on fetch. But before I get into something that complex, I would like to make sure I can't solve the problem more simply, such as by changing data type. If there is no simple way of getting around the 8K limit, is thare a best practice for storing documents greater than 8K? Thanks for your help.

  I have 2 tables - one storing user information (id, username, password) and the second one storing information about events (id, name, description, date, username(represents the user who created the event)). I would like to implement 'favourite events' functionality. This would allow the user to store his favourite events and later display them in a list. I am not sure how to implement this in terms of design. I need a simple solution. Something like storing the IDs of favourite events in a field in the user table. I am using mysql and php.   I need to concatenate several columns of a table into a single value, then show that value in an asp dropdownlist. The SQL code I'm issuing is as follows: SELECT UserID, CustomerNum, UserName + ' - ' + UserAddress + ',' + UserCity + ' ' + UserState AS UserInfo FROM Users WHERE (CustomerNum = @CustomerNum) ORDER BY UserName I then set 'UserInfo' as the text field in the dropdownlist. This generally works, except occasionally one of the columns in the database is null (for example, UserState). When that happens, the entire concatenation is null, and I get an empty entry in the dropdownlist. Is there something in SQLServer that will allow me to ignore those NULL results, or will I have to code something up in the DataBind event? Thanks

• Resolving Assemblies, the fuzzy way

  Here's the setup: A pure DotNET class library is loaded by an unmanaged desktop application. The Class Library acts as a plugin. This plugin loads little baby plugins of its own (all DotNET Class Libraries), and it does so by reading the dll into memory as a byte-stream, then Assembly asm = Assembly.Load(COFF_Image); The problem arises when those little baby plugins have references to other dlls. Since they are loaded via the memory rather than directly from the disk, the framework often cannot find these referenced assemblies and is thus incapable of loading them. I can add an AssemblyResolver handler to my project and I can see these referenced assemblies drop past. I have a reasonably good idea about where to find these referenced assemblies on the disk, but how can I make sure that the Assmebly I load is the correct one? In short, how do I reliably go from the System.ResolveEventArgs.Name field to a dll file path, presuming I have a list of all the folders where this dll could be hiding)?
